Great lunch. Seven of us turned up as they had opened. We were are party of 4 adults and 3 children. We all chose completely different meals from the menu and every dish was perfect. Special requests were dealt with and we all thoroughly enjoyed our freshly cooked lunch. Will definitely be back again. Many thanks Diane and Russell for making our family feel welcome.

Great Saturday lunch, my husband had a steak & mushroom pie, new potatoes and veg, myself had smoked haddock mozzarella fish pie, new potatoes and veg. They were large portions. Dessert was a shared vanilla cheesecake & icecream. We’re made very welcome and do was our dog by the landlady. Will definitely come back.

The Lamb and Lark is so warm, welcoming and cosy! The staff were lovely, helpful chatty and friendly. We had starters and mains and a few drinks, and everything was amazing! The food was so flavoursome, and portion sizes were perfect. There is a good variety of dishes on the menu, as well as options for vegetarian and Gluten Free, which can be hard to come by. I would highly recommend to anyone who wants a nice relaxing atmosphere with amazing food!

We were staying in the area and read about the Sunday carvery. We visited twice for Sunday lunch - so glad we discovered this pub. The 3 roasts are truly excellent (choice of beef, pork or turkey when we visited) and served with a great selection of seasonable vegetables, The landlady and her husband are friendly hosts who made us very welcome. We were fortunate on both visits to have lovely weather, so were able to relax in the garden with a drink after our meal.

Decent pub with a nice beer garden. The staff were friendly. Prices were reasonable. Unfortunately the Brie wedges were cold in the middle but the lasagne and baguette were good. A particularly nice coleslaw came with both meals!

I booked this venue for myself and 3 friends having been here over 20 years ago! We were not disappointed. It turned out to be curry night, and although we decided to go for the menu choice, it was beautifully cooked and served. Great little pub with welcoming atmosphere

Fabulous pub in the heart of a village, received a very warm welcome from the hosts. The food on both occasions was really lovely.

Woke up this morning after an eventful NYE with a real hankering for a roast. Decided to go to the Lamb & Lark as hadn’t been there in ages. You get a choice of 3 meats (Turkey, beef and pork) plus a large choice of vegetables, including parsnips, sprouts, roast and boiled potatoes. As you can see I made sure I got my money’s worth but at £13.95 for an adult carvery it’s absolutely worth it. Will definitely be returning in the future.

A little gem of a village pub we were lucky enough to discover on holiday in the area. So cosy and friendly…a real warm welcome. The food was home cooked and outstanding. A great range of drinks and relaxed atmosphere. Thank you for such a lovely dining treat….the landlady and landlord were so welcoming. We will definitely visit again…

We’ve been coming here as a family for occasions like birthdays or sunday roast for some time and it never disappoints , the pub is atmospheric and the owners are lovely, extremely attentive and tolerant of dogs as well as noisy kids 😬 , your made to feel at home, As for the food, so fresh and tasty and good value, the steak is to die for , i cant say a bad word about the lamb & lark, its become our venue of choice and we thoroughly look forward to our next visit The foster family.

We just keep coming back. The food is excellent the beer we'll kept and the welcome is warm and friendly, what more could you ask for.

Another wonderful family meal here at The Lamb and Lark. A special meal was made for our Grandson as he had, had a tooth out, so they very kindly cooked him sausages. Food as ever is cooked to perfection. Thank you

This is a nice pub with lots of atmosphere, we did not eat but the food looked good and the portions were large. The landlord was still following Covid rules which was nice to see as restrictions had been lifted.However it was a shame to see a picture by Rolf Harris on display.

Went for the first time on Friday evening and will definitely be going again. Warm welcome, shown to our table, ordered drinks and given a menu. Homemade food - at last somewhere that cooks 'proper food' . Steak and mushroom pie, creamy mash served with three fresh veg beautifully cooked. Tasted wonderful. Large enough to have no room for dessert, next time.... Also very reasonably priced

First time back with Graham and Alison since lockdown ended and wasn’t disappointed. The moment you walk through the door you are made welcome by Russ & Diane. Fantastic food despite the limited menu currently being offered - but still sufficient choice. Great food, great drinks, great company - what more could you want. Will be back again soon - hopefully with Liver back on the menu. Neil

We had 3 takeaway roast dinners today all carefully packed in foil containers with extra gravy and cauliflower cheese. Choice of 3 meats and two for each serving. Best roast dinner I have had in years. We are happy with takeaways too because we can eat at our farm and carry on with jobs after. Superb meal and service Jackie and Dave

The worst Christmas meal in the last 37years of eating out. Small portions especially if on a special diet, poor tasteless food. When asked if the mince pies were nut free the reply was " I don't know I've put the wrapper in the bin, best not eat it" poor service. Land lady has an attitude problem on the phone and face to face. So cold we didn't have enough layers on, it matches the cold atmosphere, we left early not a party pub.

Excellent food, great beer and friendly hosts. All at a good price. Will have no hesitation to return in the future.

We held a 60th birthday party for my husband and the lamb and lark supplied the pig roast and outside bar. The whole event was carried out to the highest standard. The food was amazing and the bar efficient and well stocked. The staff at the event went over and above to make sure everything ran smoothly and at the end of the night everything was cleared away and cleaned. I cannot recommend them enough, the whole event was stress free due to the professionalism of Russell and his staff.

Very good Sunday lunch. Staff were very accommodating considering I changed the numbers three times in the two days prior to eating. No moans and groans just happy to fit us in.

I have just visited the Lamb & Lark Inn twice in the last 2 days as part of a visit to RNAS Yeovilton air day and was suitably impressed. The landlords Russell and Diane were welcoming and friendly. The Inn is situated in a beautiful part of the world. The beer garden has fantastic views. There is a good selection of ale cider and sprits at the bar and the food... well the food was good quality and plentiful. I would definitely recommend it without hesitation.

Came across this pub quite by accident when staying in Ilchester just a mile or so away and looking for a proper pub nearby. Fantastic food, lovely friendly staff, excellent value for money, beer was perfect.

Absolutely delicious lunch. A baguette filled generously with steak and onion and garnished with green salad and a pot of chips. Plenty to enjoy. I enjoyed non alcoholic Stowford Press cider to compliment.

Food is fantastic generous portions lots to choose from too which you don't always get. Service is good very quick and friendly. Reasonably priced. Thoroughly enjoyed our meal out would definitely recommend.

I have been here twice now and can honestly say, the carvery is fantastic. Plenty of choice, cooked to perfection and served with ultimate grace. Price is real value too.The bread and butter pudding is to die for.

What a friendly atmosphere and fantastic service. The food was excellent, more than we could eat. Home made chocolates and mince pies were amazing. Very friendly bar staff, couldn’t fault it. Went for Sunday lunch, great food just staff spoiled it a elderly women was serving the food, she used same board to cut meat on and just chucked meat down on board , then moaned as I had filled my plate up with veg making a point that I better had eat it all as she hated chucking food away and she had chucked a bin bag away last week . Didn’t see her at the end otherwise would have shown her my plate other than that all good

great food and lively atmosphere, being a little of the beaten track it is a great pub to visit food cooked to order so expect a wait but well worth it, The Steak & Ale pie loads of meat with a puff pastry crust beautiful visited twice now and definitely will not be the last.

Nice surroundings, old beams to look out for if you are tall, food really lovely and a special 3 course deal for OAPs, all cooked fresh, service great and nice coffee

Went for Sunday lunch with daughter and family. The meat was delicious and cooked well, vegetables were ok but not particularly inspiriing - roast potatoes could have been crisper. It was reasonable value for money but the lady (landlady/cook?) serving the meat could have been friendlier and more welcoming. Have been to other local pubs with a better atmosphere.

This pub for over a decade has been reliable, consistent and stand up. It’s changed and currently it’s never been shining as well as it does now with efficiency and quality of food! Nothing beats good food and a grumpy landlord

We both enjoyed fabulously cooked food here this evening. Speedy and friendly service. Beautifully presented, tasty food. I would recommend the home cooked burgers and the amazing Thai Green Curry. Ample parking and comfortable surroundings. Would advise booking a table at weekends.

A really friendly pub where our little group of diners have visited many times. There is a variety of food on the menu which is cooked to order and most enjoyable. The prices are very reasonable as well.

Met up with daughter and family for sunday lunch today. We found this pub on tripadvisor and where delighted when we arrived, a lovely looking country pub. The lunch was a carvery, which was very good and we all enjoyed our dining experience and friendly atmosphere. We will definitely visit again.

Went for a meal with some friends, the service was excellent and the food was amazing. We had a really good night until we had to witness the owner/manager telling the young teenage waitresses off very publicly for missing something off the bill. It ruined a very lovely evening and those teenagers had done a fab job between them. The woman hadn't done very much all night.

Spent a lovely Saturday afternoon in this beautiful little country pub garden, watching the Yeovilton Air Day. Perfect spot to enjoy the flying and enjoy a few drinks with friends. Didn’t eat but food looked amazing, very big portions!

Visited for Sunday lunch carvery. Excellent food with good choice of meats and very wide range of vegetables. Service excellent. The Landlord is very welcoming and creates a calm atmosphere in a busy pub. The landlords wife is pleasant and eager to help with choices and keen to offer large helpings. Waiter coped very well with a popular Sunday carvery and managed to ensure that clients were served desserts and extra drinks without delay

We have eaten here a few times now as a foursome. We went for Sunday lunch today. You could have pork, lamb, beef or turkey or a combination of 2. The veggies on offer were roast or new potatoes, Swede, parsnips, peas, carrots or cabbage. Also stuffing and a Yorkshire with piping hot gravy. Several relevant sauces as well. I had pork cut from a 9kg joint with the offer of crackling. I had this with apple sauce and the trimmings.

We had the most wonderful stress free Christmas Day thanks to the lamb and lark taking the strain. The food was amazing the staff were attentive and the atmosphere wonderful. This is definitely the way forward, I hope you are doing the same next year Russel and di! Thank you for all the hard work and thought that was put into making everyone’s day a day to remember

The pub serves delicious food and has a friendly atmosphere It is good value for money and it is my choice venue for lunch on Christmas Day

Lovely pub/restaurant Very clean and nicely greeted Real log fire and very comfy Limited but fairly wide ranging menu and what we eat was first class Well worth a visit but would suggest booking in advance

This inn was gorgeous, had a lot of atmosphere lovely old beams . The freshly cooked food was great and the menu just right . We had a lovely evening and we felt very welcome by the owners .

We planned to go here out of the blue the day before and booked a carvery (if you are planning to go for a carvery then always book as they get very busy and will turn people away for good reason). The whole experience was just perfect.

Absolutely loved our visit to the Lamb and Lark, the beautiful Sunday lunch was superb and the wonderful hospitality and service was very refreshing. Great atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff and landlady. Looking forward to the next visit!

The Sunday Carvery food was excellent and the young gentleman who was the waiter, were the only plus points from two disappointing visits. We had travelled to visit friends in the local area from Scotland who suggested we take part in the local pub quiz. It would appear the locals do not take kindly to 'outsiders' and the fact we won the quiz went down like a lead balloon. We should have known there would be a problem as we were allocated a table for the quiz at the other end of the bar completely separate to the rest of the customers when we arrived. As a first prize, we were given a voucher for four free caveries.So, we use our voucher today and are told we cannot sit at table 19 as it was 'Reserved'. There was no sign stating this. The table was not used during our visit. We are told them to go to another table at the corner and take an additional chair . So from a comfortable table for five people, we have to go to a table for four and fit in an extra chair. We paid for our drinks and food for the additional person in our party but no thank yous at all. An uncomfortable feeling that we were in the way.Unfortunately, one of the glasses for our soft drink was filthy.I read many good reviews on here but we will not come back here again. A disappointed 'outsider' who thought Somerset hospitality was better than this.

We went here on a Sunday for the carvery with family and a two year old. We arrived early and we're approached by the land lady (I assume) who wouldn't let us wait in the beer garden. She seemed quite rude and not very welcoming so we went away and came back on time. At the carvery we asked for a small plate so we could take food from our plate and feed our 2 year old but she said we still have to pay and "we don't do that here"The meal was average and the rest of the staff seemed ok. We wind be recommending this place!

Went for a family meal the food was ok, shame about the landladies attitude, She was very rude and confrontational. Won't be going back.

The menu was good, the food tasty ( particularly the very large French baguette steak sandwich) and the owner and his wife welcoming and friendly.Lots of room inside and out.A bar / table area and a large indoor room as well as an attractive little garden in different levels.Swings and a bike stand too.There is also a facility for a mobile hog roast and occasional entertainment.Will return during another bike ride!

I took my wife out for a treat at lunchtime. The pub was busy and the landlord friendly. Even though it was busy we didn't have to wait long for our food, which was excellent especially the treacle sponge for pud. Looking forward to visiting again.

I had the nut roast - it was tasty, someone I was with had the curry which delicious. They provided very generous amounts of food and it was really good value for money.

Visited on a Friday eveing. Lovely atmosphere and excellent fish and chips and a warm welcome too. Friends also had delicious food from the specials board.

I had a lovely lunch with family on Mothering Sunday.This pub is in a peaceful village location with an ample car park adjoining and I have previously visited several times.There is a good choice of roast meats at the carvery with a decent selection of veg. The waitresses were very polite and the service was quick.The landlord is very welcoming and friendly too.Would suggest they have a choice of small or large plate sizes for the cavery to avoid waste.Definitely would come again - very good value.

On the whole our experience was a very enjoyable one. A cosy pub with good food and good drink. Could not find much to fault at all!

Visited today for carvery, there were a selection of highchairs available which was ideal for my baby. We were able to get our food straight away, as I was the last person there was no carrots and broccoli left, without saying anything the waitress brought over a bowl of freshly cooked veg which made me very happy! The roast potatoes were amazing, the meat was perfectly cooked and I'm not a fan of Yorkshire puddings but loved theirs! I had a cheesecake for pudding which was very tasty and a nice big portion. I will definition be recommending to my friends.

This review is not based on the food, as we never actually had any! We arrived 15 minutes after their advertised opening time (ie 1845) and asked if there was a table available. A few tables were already occupied, a couple more were reserved. The lady in charge was quite rude, & stated in front of all the other guests that if we hadn't booked, she had lots of other people ' to feed'. Feeling very embarrassed, we left, as did several other couples behind us who got similar treatment. Found a much more accommodating and convivial Italian restaurant up the road!

The Lamb and Lark is our 'local' but we would travel to visit, because there is always a warm welcome and you can be sure of a meal or a snack to fit your needs. excellent food, well cooked and served with a smile. At short notice they rescued us and fed unexpected visitors.

This establishment is very good. the food was relatively cheap and of an above average standard. The staff were friendly and we had little complaint about service. My only fault was that we where sat in the bowling alley annexe, which had the feel of an old working mans club. There was a lack of real ambience in this area, but seemed to be present in the main pub.I would certainly recommend it as a solid place to go for an inexpensive meal and I will have no second guesses about returning.

We come here often for meals out. It's affordable and fantastic home cooked food served by friendly staff. Sunday carvery is always busy as it's so good! Normal menu has a large selection to choose from.

I only live in Ilchester but haven't been to the Lamb & Lark for about 15 years, decided to pop in for carvery last Sunday & we were really impressed! It was busy but they were happy to squeeze us in, £8.95 for a carvery is a good price too! We noticed they were dog friendly as well, will definitely be returning for a carvery again, the roast potatoes were amazingly crispy on the outside but fluffy inside!! probably a good idea to book in advance next time! Staff were very polite & friendly as well & the beer garden is nice.

A friend of mine treated us to a meal out and she is a regular to the lamb and lark, if never been for food before so seemed like the right choice.The fillet steak was just out of this world the service was cracking and friendly to all who were in the restaurant and bar. They were busy but still made time for a quick chat which was nice!! Highly recommend and will definitely treat the hubby to a meal here!!

We tried to meet here at lunch time but as we were 10 minutes early the landlord (we pressure) would not allow us even to sit in the garden prior to getting a drink and food. Avoid

Lamb and lark is a very family friendly pub and the staff are absolutely lush I stick up for one of the local skittle teams and the service we get is absolutely amazing, the bar members are so easy to talk to and are very easy going

Had the Sunday carvery, I dont do veg so I would have liked more meat, but I couldnt complain.Not sure about the Aunt bessies yorkshire puds & stuffing balls, but I guess if nothing else it helps keep the price very good.

I had not been here for many years, kind of had forgotten about it, to be fair it is pretty rural - pretty being the operative word. A warm sunny Sunday morning, a long cold drink was needed and we were thinking of stopping off before going to look for somewhere for lunch - the beer garden is small but definitely well placed with all round sunshine, nice garden furniture and the views across the neighbouring fields towards more unspoiled countryside was just stunning. It was so nice we stopped there and enjoyed a good carvery Sunday lunch, the veg were plentiful and nicely cooked, the roasties were lovely and well crisp and browned, there were the expected 3 meats but everything you would want and expect from a carvery, there appears to be plenty of dining space too. What we particularly liked was the forthcoming events board, Mexican night, curry night, Greek night, hog roast and music day to raise funds for a children's hospice, this place is friendly, welcoming, has much going on and our feeling is, based on the food we had today, the general menu and the specials nights will definitely be events we will return to, in fact we left our details as this pub offers a text service letting customers know of forthcoming events.

We booked lunch for six Friday 22nd April and arrived on time and were shown to our table by a very pleasant member of staff. There were other customers in the dining area but no-one seemed to have food. It took a time for the order to be taken and even longer for food to arrive. The young woman seemed to be the only member of staff, taking orders, serving at the bar and delivering the food from the kitchen. After the long wait thankfully the food was very good and well presented. We decided on puddings and again the dishes were very good. We decided against coffee as we had arrived at 12.30 and it was now nearly 3.00. Two other women appeared from the kitchen towards the end of service so the staff total was three.The Lamb and Lark serves typical pub food with a specials board. There are smaller portions if you have a small appetite. We are all retired persons with plenty of time so the wait did not bother us too much but enough to make us comment on it.

We visited this pub early on Valentine's evening, it looks very quaint and the staff were pleasant enough however the food was very disappointing. From looking at the very basic "pub grub" menu I wasn't overly inspired, however I opted for a kieve and hubby went for the mixed grill, when our plates arrived we were both greeted by a very anaemia looking selection of offerings, severely undercooked chips to my below basic kieve (I was expecting something home made) hubby had asked for his steak cooked rare so was quite surprised to find all of his meat airing on the rare side (even pork steak) when the waitress asked if everything was OK hubby pointed out the raw chips etc and to be fair she offered us another bowl of chips however no substitute was offered for the meat/ kieve. The same when hubby went to pay, he pointed out why we had left 80% off our food yet no deduction was offered. Such a shame as we had high expectations.

We visited the lamb and lark with a group of 12, we had booked for the Sunday Carvery. Plenty of room, extra seating in the skittle ally. The food was hot and tasty, and plenty of it, but standard Carvery. Ordered a pint of bitter, which was served two cold and it was cloudy, mentioned to landlord whose response was that it was fine and he would not exchange the pint. He said it was always like that, however as a CAMRA member, bitter should not be served this cold and definitely not cloudy. Moved to cider for further drinks.

Despite there only being a few people in the restaurant the atmosphere was very welcoming with a good log fire in the grate.The landlady was very chatty and well informed when asked about gluten free options.We took advantage of the three courses offered as part of the 'not so old option' and were very pleased with the quality and quantity of the portions.We understand that as much local produce as possible is used and that most dishes are made from scratch.We would go again.

Nice pub and lay out. Staff are a little abrupt.....Don't ask for any slight deviation from the exact menu as the response will be a flat no and an awkward silence which makes you feel like quite unwelcome. The starters were nice, the mains were good on the whole - specials board is worth a look but we don't recommend the sirloin steak, it was chewy, hard to eat.Landlord and Landlady are hard to work out, I wasn't sure if we were welcome or an annoyance. Mixed feelings on whether I'd go back.

Visited her for a pre Christmas get together. At the time of booking we were told that a party of 10 were booked in at the same time, so get there early and get our order in. Unfortunately the party of 10 had also got there early!! However we had very little time to wait for our order, when it arrived it was lovely and hot and the portions were large, The food and service were very good indeed. Would highly recommend, unfortunately we don't live in the area so it may be a long time before we can visit again - shame.
