Popped into this welcoming little cafe having been turned away from a cafe in Broadwindsor as dogs not allowed in. We were both covered in mud, with very muddy boots and an even muddier dog but no fuss was made and we were quickly served with a delicious cappuccino and a hot chocolate. We followed this with an italian toastie made with homemade focaccia, mozzarella, tomatoes, peppers served with french fries and a coronation chicken sandwich on wholemeal bread with salad side - both were absolutely delicious. The cakes looked delicious too, sorry now we didn't bring some back with us!

Very impressed with bilbys Cafe. I'm quite particular with how I like my order and they always go above and beyond to make sure it is just how I like it! Whenever I pre-order my food it is always ready within a few minuets of me getting there and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend bilbys Cafe to anyone wanting some high quality breakfast.

Had to wait nearly an hour for a sandwich and poached eggs on toast. No apology from the staff, food was okay when it came, but not worth the wait.

Pleasant Cafe,friendly staff and very reasonably priced.Was given our pot of tea but half an hour later no sign of our food so asked if they'd forgotten but was told 'It won't be long it's on its way'. Still nothing so was going to pay for the tea and then leave but after a very long wait the excellent food was eventually served.No apology for the 40 minute wait for a toastie an tea cake but other than the long wait everything else was good.

We ordered two black coffees, a ham and cheese toastie and ham egg and chips. This time the ham was thick and very tasty. It was not very busy so meals came quickly.

Live in Beaminster so not far yet had never been here. Wish i'd found it sooner. Home cooked food which is fairly priced and served by friendly young girls. Love the batternburg cake in particular

We had a coffee each and chanced our arms with a victoria sponge and a shortbread. The staff were really nice and friendly the coffee was really good. The shortbread was :- The victoria sponge was :- Only one word to say thank you is Excellent.

We ordered two coffees, two toasted sandwiches and one dish of chips food was ok. Only one unisex toilet so long queues and not very clean.

My first visit to Bilbys and it didn't disappoint.Friendly staff, reasonably priced food and drinks and quick service. One of the lovely waitresses even sat with my border terrier while I went to the toilet. Highly recommended 👌

We ordered two large coffees which came quickly. We both decided to have the cod goujoins, chips and mushy peas. When it arrived we both thought it was a small meal for the price. There were only two cod goujoins. Food all cooked well. It was very noisy in our room due to two delivery men coming in with large metal cages and going to a store room with supplies. If we go again we will not sit there again.

Very disappointed with The Burger Shed - because they were “quiet”, they closed early - 20 mins before advertised closing time. I expected more of Bilby’s to be honest. We run a small campsite and often recommend their burgers, but will now look elsewhere for takeaway food in the evening for our customers now. Attitudes like this will unfortunately kill this business, which is a real shame. Poor show, Burger Shed.

After a fabulous holiday near Lyme Regis we stopped here for breakfast on the way home. Lovely welcome & they sorted us out with a table for 6 even though they were very busy. Superb breakfast that suited us all, beautifully cooked, served quickly & great value for money. Would highly recommend.

We were able to find a table, even though it was very busy. We ordered 2 coffees and 2 toasted sandwiches. They both arrived quickly. The toasted sandwiches came out with salad and coleslaw. Coleslaw was not mentioned on the menu. This put me off my meal at first as I don’t like coleslaw. The sandwiches were very filling and enjoyable. Well worth the price charged. Will visit again. Staff all very pleasant and helpful.

Great food(we shared a coronation chicken sandwich plus crumble and custard, plus coffees). Excellent, fast, friendly service. Very reasonable prices.

Bang slap in the middle of Crewkerne, Bilby's is a fabulous cafe. What makes Bilby's so good is the quiet attentiveness and efficiency of the young staff, and generally it is just a lovely place to be. It's clean, light and airy with plenty of tables and seating that allow for privacy if you require it. The Burger Shed menu is extensive and reasonably priced (about £9 - chips extra). Table service is friendly and quick, and then customers are left to relax and with no pressure. I regularly visit with a young person and we quietly and happily play Top Trumps and Guess Who as we eat our meals. Bilby's really is the best community cafe - highly recommended.

Been here a couple of times now and both times the food has been excellent and great value. Today I had a cheese bacon and tomato toastie served with coleslaw and salad. Only grumble, I couldn’t eat it all, no meagre amounts of cheese and bacon in this sandwich! 😬

we came in on saturday night to the burger shed! it was amazing the staff was amazing the food was gorgeous! definitely worth the price. i can’t recommend it enough!

My family and I were on holiday near Chard and we looked around for things to do. We found the Board house and read the website and some reviews. The impression was there was no need to book, walk-ins are supported. When we arrived the shop had a single game of D&D going on. We were firmly told that we could not be accomodated that day. I understand that they wanted to maintain an atmosphere for that game but in terms of running a business everything said the shop was open right up to going inside - then to find it effectively closed was disappointing especially for my son. I could have booked that is true - but the website and reviews give the impression that this is optional. It looked good but the young staff simply didn't respond in a business like way more like, 'this is our shop and we are gaming today with these people'. Its a great idea and location. It just needs a little more thought for directing customers on its mode of operation. The simple mechanic advertised is not the while story - this can lead to disappointment. My advise to those running it - let the games start after your customers have a seat and an order taken... To those wanting to visit - check its convienient for those running the shop!

Called in on a Tuesday lunchtime for lunch. Quite a few diners and we had a Ploughman’s and a steak BAP. They were up to the usual quality, lovely tasty food and they don’t skimp on the portions. And reasonably priced service with a smile. What else could you possibly want?

Unlike Nettie123 we dislike dogs in cafes, in fact in any venue serving food. But, to be fair, throughout our experience of over two years, Bilbys has consistently evidenced courteous service. And though we personally are not fans of such, they do permit dogs.

Wow - you wont be disappointed. Fresh baps, two tasty burgers and great fries! For the size they were very reasonable priced . Oh- onion rings were great too. I definitely recommend you try them and we will be back!

Stopped in for two large breakfasts after lockdown. Hot and tasty with a nice atmosphere. Lovely job 👍

Had the chicken curry. A delicious plate of mild tomato based chicken curry, with rice, mango chutney and nan. But a tiny portion. Fine for a lady watching her weight, but not really enough food for a full grown man. I filled up with a rather disappointing cherry and almond cake with glacé cherries and flaked almonds but lacking the kick of almond essence or cherry jam. My wife ordered the bacon brie and cranberry roll without salad. It arrived with salad so was sent to the kitchen and came back minus salad, followed a few minutes later by the bacon, which the chef had forgotten to include! He apologised and fixed it, but by this time I had eaten my curry. The roll was good. On the plus side was a nice big cafetiere of coffee for £4.50. Overall pretty good but lacking attention to details. Oh, and get some skimmed milk in your fridge please.

We have regularly used Bilby's over the last few years because of the lovely welcoming atmosphere and the amazing food. Due to the Covid outbreak yesterday was the first time we have been in since the beginning of the year. I was very sad to hear that the lovely people that owned it have now retired and disappointed in the reduced menu and selection of cakes etc. We had breakfast, the food used was not as good quality as we have had there before although it was cooked freshly , was nice and hot and apart from the sausages it tasted good. Also disappointed that there was no longer ginger cake.

we go here all the time after a swim. but today the standard was exceptional. I don't no if it was just all mum's and dads serving us or not. but a high chair was brought out, they served everything away from the babies lol (mines a grabber) even offered to give my LO some cucumber sticks. was my thousandth visit lol but my sister's first and we will definitely be returning definitely family friendly

Wheelchair access to bilbys. Lovely food I had bacon deli roll and my girlfriend had rarebit. Delicious well presented. Friendly chatty staff. Owner takes real interest in what people want. Is going to make a cake suitable for a little boy with some food allergy. Great range of vegan and dairy free. Amazing hot chocolate the best I have ever seen. Its valentine's day chocolate overload. Toilet can be accessed in whee5 and new owners trying to address it. First thing they told us.

A local institution, this classic British café has recently changed hands. There is a great atmosphere and the staff are attentive, friendly and efficient. They were more than happy to accommodate me as a vegan so it is a thumbs up for me. I am hoping that in time their vegan friendly offering will expand so that I can give them 5 stars :)Well worth visiting if you are in Crewkerne.

Popped in here after visiting the nearby deer farm for a light lunch. If there is an opposite of a hipster coffee shop then this is it; and I mean that in a good way. Don’t get me wrong, I like exposed brick and filament lightbulbs as much as the next person, but sometimes it’s just not what you need. And on this particular occasion Bilby’s was exactly what I needed. Everything from the menu, to the decor, to the waiting staff to the way they make flat whites is delightfully old fashioned. The service was friendly and smiley, the food arrived promptly and was eaten with gusto by my family (A couple of sausage sandwiches, a bowl of soup and a ham and cheese toastie). So basically if you’re after a friendly place with simple tasty food, then Bilby’s is for you; if you’re after smashed avocado and a macchiato then it’s probably not.

Whilst coming into Bilbys for a pre Xmas catch up with friends, it was hard to go unnoticed that the man behind the kitchen area was being VERY RUDE to his employees. It was quite busy (to be expected at this time of the year!) however as I sat back and quietly observed what was going on, the wonderful waitressing staff couldn’t have been doing a better job if they tried! Very friendly and professional. Working under pressure but still polite and well mannered, how I’m unsure with the disgusting behaviour and language portrayed towards the waitresses from the ‘man in the kitchen’. I really do hope that this is a one off and they don’t have to deal with this on a regular basis....Scrooge comes to mind ‘BAH- HUMBUG!’.A* rating for all waitressing staff at Bilbys! Well, i was looking forward to my vegetarian breakfast at bilbys. But unfortunately, its terrible. You basically get a plate of peppers, the pepper r juices run onto the hard potatoes and makes the taste weird, 20 beans, and some hard potatoes.It's almost 2020 and a local cafe can't even do a basic vegetarian breakfast properly. I also asked the manager, do they have any vegetarian sausages. He replied, either have a proper sausage or none at all. Rude and terrible breakfast. Won't be going here again.Here's some tips, add some hash browns, vegetarian sausages, two eggs, a nice portion of beans etc. It's not rocket science.

We were in the area and glad we stopped here! Had an amazing lunch, there were four of us with two vegetarian and one coeliac. Not a problem and all had something different. Amazing food! Will definitely be coming back.

I love this place. In Crewkerne it is the best café to go to. A real café that welcomes all. Fabulous food, you can get a proper breakfast. Love the toasties. The cakes that are baked on the premises are delicious. Excellent hot chocolate with all the trimmings. An all round great place.

Have not been here for about 4 years, the place is just as good as it was back then. Table service was great and quick. Both ordered a breakfast and coffee, arrived really quick and food looked amazing.

This is a great cafe in Crewkerne on the high street which does breakfast, lunch and cakes. We had a full English and coffee for lunch (they do an all day breakfast). We were impressed with the quality, portions and service. They were able to accommodate gluten free and the meal W portion was particularly good. The service was friendly and relaxed, the cafe clean and comfortable. Airy on a hot day and not too noisy. This is a good example of good honest food, very well done. Highly recommend!

Stopped to look at the shops and asked where the best place to eat was. We were told go to Bilbys good food and really nice cakes. Took the advice and visited. The food was good, service was excellent and if we are ever in the area again we will return. Lots on the specials menu worth trying.

Not impressed. Service very slow and when the coffees did eventually arrive they were almost undrinkable. We mentioned this at the till but they still took our money.

Whenever we are in crewkerne we visit bilbys, good value and nice food , children's menus aswell. Staff are always.polite and friendly.

Me and my partner try to get to Bilbys on a Saturday whenever we can. The staff are super friendly and the food is always excellent. My partner is a vegetarian and there is always a good variety for her.

I needed somewhere for around 20 of us to go after an internment of my daughters ashes, Bilbys were very accommodating, didnt hesitate gave us a room to ourselves for an hour at no charge for room, we all enjoyed a lovely drink and light snack.

Friendly staff and good atmosphere, unspoilt interiors, clean and good value fayre. I had a prawn salad which was really substantial and had good fresh ingredients -as someone is critical and who runs my own eating establishment I was still pleased with my order!

We visited here while on holiday. What a little gem. My husband and I both ordered a steak deli roll with fried onion and horseradish with side salad for lunch. When it arrived it was huge! I had a cappucino and my husband had a pot of peppermint tea. The cappuccino was in a fair size cup - not one of these a couple of sips and it's gone, and my husband had at least 2 cups of peppermint tea out of his pot. After eating our lunch we were rather full, which was a bit of a shame as they had some rather delicious sounding puddings on the menu, not to mention a table full of yummy looking homemade cakes! We decided we would buy some pieces of cake to take home for our tea later on, but which cake when there were so many cakes to choose from! So we decided to take 2 pieces each, all different, and then share the pieces of cake so we both got to try all four different types, one piece each that afternoon teatime and the other two pieces the following day. And the cost of the lunch, drinks and four pieces of cake - just £25.05p! What good value for money that lunch was. The staff were very friendly and pleasant and worked very hard. We would happily go back to Bilby's again.

We are regular visitors to Bilbys and always have a great no frills breakfast. Service is always good and the food tasty and pipping hot. Also lovely coffee.

This old style café is very popular with the locals and understandably so. We only had time for a coffee but this was served to the table and exactly what we wanted. The menu and cakes looked delicious and well priced

This is a fabulous location for a family breakfast. The staff are always very very friendly and helpful. The food is very good and exceptionally good value. The lunch are also very good as are the handmade cakes. The coffee is also very good.

This is our ‘go to’ place for lunch if in Crewkerne. We’ve been here several times after moving to the area 18 months ago. Food is reasonably priced, generous portions and always freshly prepared. Throughly recommended for a light lunch
