We went to the Imperial for a birthday meal. We arrived, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly, welcoming, and polite. They sorted out drinks and showed us to our table. I don’t think we even looked at the menu. We were drawn to their specials board, where I think this pub makes such a difference. We went when they had burgers on special offer, and my goodness, they were out of this world. There’s no chance you could eat them with your hands. Decent portions and quality food. The pub was very busy inside and out, but they didn’t let their service drop. A spot-on little pub with huge character. Highly recommended to anyone wanting simple but spot-on pub grub.
I had the best pain au chocolat from this bakery yesterday. There was the right amount of chocolate and the pastry was oh so flaky. It was delicious and by far the best I’ve had for ages. Coupled with great, friendly service and decent coffee, this is a place I’ll be re-visiting very soon.
Bed accommodation ( breakfast is available for extra cost), lovely comfortable room on first floor close to sea wall, if you like to sleep hearing the waves it’s a must. Very clean accommodation and shower / en-suite
Parking is free behind on the street but limited, there is plenty paid parking no too far away
We've been coming here for six years. The staff were always very friendly and the food excellent.
Not any more ! Under new ownership, there has now been no food at all for several months and the staff are often off-hand.
To make it worse, the Old Inn website still claims that food is served and even gives a sample menu. The pub's facebook group, which has frequent updates from the new management, states "... high quality homecooked food sourced locally." And there are posters either side of the front door proclaiming that food is available !
The gastrobus has been changed! Used to be one of the highlights of the summer holidays. The Gastrodogs were perfection. The menu has the “totnessed” and it’s not good. The portions are smaller. It’s not as good, but the prices are high. Even my 8 year old was full of sadness at the changes.
We booked a Sunday lunch here for a birthday, it was great !
We wanted to take a special bottle of wine with us, they only charged a very reasonable £5 corkage.
Lovely setting.
Sadly not great, we've been twice now, as we thought a one off poor experience may no be repeated. Really very dry cod, overcooked on both occasions with super thick batter! I cannot understand why people think that really thick batter is a pleasant experience. Not very good sadly.
Second visit to Harbour House Kitchen and the sunny garden .
This time for coffee and a generous slice of the most superb freshly made Rhubarb Frangipani . Both were perfection .
(When last there I enjoyed lunch of fabulous soup and wholesome seeded bread )
This simple wee restaurant is a gem tucked away from the main hustle of Kingsbridge where Helen and her team offer delicious freshly made food . Everything chosen is of the highest quality.
Don’t pass it by or you will be missing something special !
Thank you Helen for making the sort of food I love to eat but is rarely found

Had a really great stay at Browns. The staff all super friendly and can’t do enough to help, the food and menu choices are as good as it gets and the location so close to the waterfront is ideal. Would 100% recommend and stay again.
Friendly staff but pie night disappointing. A very large, generously filled pie but pastry soggy which spoiled it. A very large serving of mash but not well creamed.
Quantity didn't make up for quality. Disappointing as previously we had had some good meals there.
We come down to the Salcombe area each year and stayed in East Prawle two years ago. One of the biggest draws back to this lovely village for us this year was the Piglet Cafe. The food is excellent and the service is, without fail, friendly and welcoming. We had our one year old and Labrador with us this year and could not have been made to feel more welcome. We had breakfast every morning (amazing!) and a couple of other meals which were also lovely. Homemade, tasty, good quality food. Thank you to Julie and the rest of the Piglet Cafe team.
The Hairy Barista oozes trendy coffee vibe and was bustling with a lovely vibe. We ordered coffees which took a little while to arrive - they were solid, but perhaps not as mind blowing as we were hoping for. Still a pleasant place to hang out in Totnes.
