We were staying in Totnes and decided to go for a dog walk for a pub lunch. It took about 1 and 1/2 hrs along a metalled road so no traffic. We were made very welcome from the moment we entered with our 2 dogs. We ordered our drinks and then our food. The food was absolutely lovely. We had another drink and had a chat with the landlady, and our dogs made friends with their basset hound. Well worth a visit and we will definitely be returning when we are in Totnes next.
Although we’ve been coming to this area for years we’d never explored Bolberry. We stumbled across Oceans Restaurant during a dog walk and stopped for an excellent lunch. So nice we booked for dinner a couple of nights later and we’ve just returned from a lovely meal, probably the nicest evening out we’ve had for a long time. Excellent food, lovely setting, great service. We will certainly return and highly recommend.
First visit to this fabulous place in 2025, and in fact, their first day open! Very friendly staff, excellent speedy service, and delicious food. Always the best in town!!
The portion size of the large steak and ale pie is the size of the pensioners deal, so the pensioners deal must be a mouthful, times are hard, but giving a few more chips to cover the vast space on the plate would have helped... certainly not value for money!! We wont be going again!! We did question size!
We wernt the only customers disappointed!
Food was great, people were great, especially Nick, Poppy and Daisy, who were all absolutely lovely to a lady who desperarely needed some food and water. Great pub, pay a visit!!
I had the best pain au chocolat from this bakery yesterday. There was the right amount of chocolate and the pastry was oh so flaky. It was delicious and by far the best I’ve had for ages. Coupled with great, friendly service and decent coffee, this is a place I’ll be re-visiting very soon.
Bed accommodation ( breakfast is available for extra cost), lovely comfortable room on first floor close to sea wall, if you like to sleep hearing the waves it’s a must. Very clean accommodation and shower / en-suite
Parking is free behind on the street but limited, there is plenty paid parking no too far away
We've been coming here for six years. The staff were always very friendly and the food excellent.
Not any more ! Under new ownership, there has now been no food at all for several months and the staff are often off-hand.
To make it worse, the Old Inn website still claims that food is served and even gives a sample menu. The pub's facebook group, which has frequent updates from the new management, states "... high quality homecooked food sourced locally." And there are posters either side of the front door proclaiming that food is available !
As a family, we were visiting Kingsbridge for a weekend away before Christmas. We visited Avon Mill for a late breakfast. When we arrived, we were greeted with mulled wine, nibbles and plenty of friendly staff. It was a fabulous start to our visit to the garden centre and cafe. We found many unusual items that we had not seen before which was a joy. The Devon Artistan Hub was a real treat - purchased some adorable miniature, ceramic mice for the Christmas tree. Thank you for such a memorable visit.
The gastrobus has been changed! Used to be one of the highlights of the summer holidays. The Gastrodogs were perfection. The menu has the “totnessed” and it’s not good. The portions are smaller. It’s not as good, but the prices are high. Even my 8 year old was full of sadness at the changes.
Gastrobus has definitely gone downhill . Prices gone up - £11 for a mediochre hotdog . Pitta pocket with brisket not much better and more expensive . For two lunches with hot drinks it was over £30 . The breakfast menu looked better but the lunch menu options weren’t great . Shame as was good . Won’t be using again even though we’re regulars at bantham
We were staying in Dartmouth and looking for a good, dog friendly place to eat and Brown's fit the bill perfectly. As it was a Monday evening the place was very quiet and we were offered a choice of two tables with plenty of space for our 2 Irish Setters. The very friendly waitress (sorry I didn't ask your name!) quickly took our orders for wine and food. Starters of roast chorizo and a field mushroom topped with goat's cheese were delicious and the mains of venison and wild boar ragu were every bit as good. Sadly, we had no room for desserts, but there looked to be a good choice. They don't have a car park but there is plenty of free on street parking on Victoria Road; I guess the place gets very busy in main seaon though so you may have to use one of the nearby pay car parks and walk along. Worth the walk though as it's certainly a place to recommend.
