The Imperial in South Hams

We went to the Imperial for a birthday meal. We arrived, and the staff couldn’t have been more friendly, welcoming, and polite. They sorted out drinks and showed us to our table. I don’t think we even looked at the menu. We were drawn to their specials board, where I think this pub makes such a difference. We went when they had burgers on special offer, and my goodness, they were out of this world. There’s no chance you could eat them with your hands. Decent portions and quality food. The pub was very busy inside and out, but they didn’t let their service drop. A spot-on little pub with huge character. Highly recommended to anyone wanting simple but spot-on pub grub.

Fantastic food, great welcome. Huge sunny beer garden. I highly recommend the cocktails!! Family run who are enthusiastic and give extremely good customer service.

We stopped by the Imperial Inn in Ivybridge this afternoon and were absolutely blown away by the quality of the food. The BrewDog Burger and the Chicken Burger were both exceptional — perfectly cooked, packed with flavour, and generously portioned. The ingredients tasted fresh and the presentation was spot-on. The pub itself has a warm, welcoming atmosphere and the staff were friendly and attentive throughout our visit. It’s clear they care about providing a great experience. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and craving a top-notch burger. We’ll definitely be back!

have visited the imperial on more than one occasion and have never been disappointed - always a lovely meal & the staff are so friendly. Dog friendly as well which is great, my pup always gets a sausage ☺️ very reasonably priced and a lovely beer garden for the summer

We recently booked for my Dads 70th birthday meal to eat at the Imperial. We pre ordered our meals (there were 20 of us) every meal came out correct and each meal was delicious. A really welcoming nice pub, serving Hawkstone 😄🍺. The food was really nice, best burger I have had at a pub in a while. There is a nice sunny beer garden out the back so dont assume from the front there is no garden!!

Food was great, people were great, especially Nick, Poppy and Daisy, who were all absolutely lovely to a lady who desperarely needed some food and water. Great pub, pay a visit!!

Best pub in Ivybridge. Always gave Legend and Tribute plus an ever changing guest ale. Good atmosphere and seems to have a good rotation of regulars. Menu looks good though not tried it yet.

My family and I had a fantastic and reasonably priced meal at the Imperial on Saturday. The food was tasty, plentiful and well presented - and the young waitress who served us was smiley and friendly. Will definitely return.

Went for lunch and the food was excellent. I had the Ivybridge butchers faggots with creamy mash, peppercorn sauce and buttered vegetables. My wife had the chicken tenders with honey sauce and chips. The portion size was good and value for money, the selection of beers/ciders was also good. Polite and efficient service. Definitely a pub to visit if in the area.

What a great, lovely little pub, nice and cozy, great service and when it came to the food, well, outstanding main courseoff the specials board, great portions, you will not be(shouldn't be) going home hungry. Highly recommend Thank you to all the staff for a lovely evening

One of the best pies I've ever had, good ale and great service.

I had the most amazing birthday lunch at the Imperial, scrumptious lamb shank served by the friendliest staff. The lovely staff gifted me a divine moonshine shot, very moreish and a yummy sticky toffee pudding which I relished too. Will be back again.

Amazing local pub, the staff are all lovely and very friendly. The pub itself is comfy and cosy plus they have an amazing beer garden and covered outdoor seating area! The food is absolutely unreal and out does almost all the other food I've had in a pub! Highly recommended

We arranged our wake for my Dad and Jo and the team at the Imperial were amazing! Really helpful and supportive on the run up, set up and on the day. It's hard when you have no idea how many are coming, but the Imperial team were able to adapt and work with us when a lot more than expected turned up. Definitely be coming back soon!

Now this place has changed and for the better, we popped in and the new landlord was very welcoming, restaurant was fully booked which is a very good sign, prices are good for both beer and food, landlord even asked us if we wanted another drink whilst we were sat down busy talking to new friends so we didn't have to get up, now this is what I call hospitality at it's best, you must pop in if you're in Ivybridge you won't be disappointed plus they have a beautiful beer garden at the back, 10 out of 10 from us

Delicious food and fantastic service. Really good vegan choices, I had the Mediterranean tart which was well cooked and seasoned. My family had the roast beef which they enjoyed. The berry tart was also very good. The service was really attentive and friendly, which is rare these days. The portions were generous, the price was reasonable considering we had main courses with alcohol. Highly recommend.

The best of the best. The pub has been run by this family for the last year and they have transformed it. The atmosphere is incredible, they make everyone welcome. The food is the best in the area. There is a fabulous beer garden at the rear suitable for families and dogs. Well worth a visit!

The Sunday roast at the Imperial has now become a weekly staple for us! Amazing service from all the staff and the food was out very quick also. The roasts were lovely, great to see sausage and stuffing on the plates which you don’t see in many places anymore and the gravy was thick and tasted awesome. To finish off the chocolate brownie was a joy. We Will be returning and recommend this pub to everyone!

Popularity for this traditional village pub is gaining momentum and well deserved. Very friendly welcome on arrival and delicious food at very reasonable prices. We’ll definitely be back.

Food was lovely, could have done with a bit more spice for me personally, but that could ruin it for someone who doesn't like too much. The seafood was cooked to perfection, and the drinks were good also. I enjoyed my visit, and would definitely return. 😊

Family meal 24 05 23 Great friendly staff. So helpful. Doggy treats for our cockers.. Venison burger was probably the best I'd ever had. 2 x steak and ale pies . Big chunks of tender meat and rich gravy. 1 x fish and chips . Beautiful flakes of white fresh fish. All the meals was pipping hot. Can't fault this food in anyway. Recommend 100% a little gem. Thank you all.

This pub is a hidden gem...good beer great food and even better company. I look forward to visiting the Imperial again in the hopefully near future.

Ivybridge has been crying out for a pub serving decent food at a fair price and finally it has happened. Wonderful service from the staff behind the bar and waiting the tables , they genuinely seemed to care if you'd had an enjoyable experience! Absolutely loved my jerk tacos and I've not had chips that good for many years, actually real hand cut chips and not from frozen. Some lovely ciders on draught to enjoy in the large beer garden out back will make the Imperial a popular choice when/if the sun makes an appearance. The new owners have certainly made a statement here and I hope they and their team go from strength to strength.

This is a cracking pub front of house was so friendly they gave my fur baby a doggy treat. And the food was amazing so tasty all that I can say is make sure you are hungry huge portions Well done to all see you soon

Visited The Imperial this week and wow what a lovely welcome, a refreshing change from the normal run of the mill. The staff in my opinion were excellent communicators and took good care of my wife and I. The drinks arrived in double quick time followed by the scampi and chips. Also very dog friendly and made our little girl feel at home. Very clean and tidy I would recommend The Imperial a very enjoyable experience.

A very warm welcome from the staff. An ever changing menu and special dishes. Great decor. A variety of beers and ciders on the pumps with a selection of wines and other drinks and cocktails to boot. When the weather warms up and it stops raining there is a fabulous garden to enjoy too. These guys have got this bang on! They have the right combination of everything on offer. It’s so refreshing to find a pub like this.

My wife and I visited for dinner and were warmly met and shown to our table. The service and level of care and attention was fantastic. The food......wow! The both had burgers from the specials board, a USA stack burger and a flying Dutchman burger. Both were outstanding. I made some changes to the USA stack too and nothing was too much trouble. Overall a fantastic place to go and we'll be back!

The imperial is by far one of the nicer pubs in Ivybridge. All of the staff are warm and welcoming, the food is value for money and they have a great selection behind the bar. We’ve been many times now - lovely Sunday roast, the curry nights are a great new addition but the real stand out is the specials board. Forever changing, it’s a great opportunity to try foods you never usually would. Superb. The fire is always on and the staff love it when you bring in a dog or two!

Walked into the pub by happenstance as we missed our bus and I’m so glad we did! Amazing staff behind the bar, good ol’ Guinness with a proper head and the food!!! Soooo goood! Would definitely recommend!

Went on a Friday lunchtime. Friendly welcome and the food was very good. It was a shame we were the only people eating. We shall be using The Imperial again as it is an easy walk for us.👍😁

I love this pub and especially Nick behind the bar. He makes a wicked moonshine cocktail ( and I have the hangover to prove it), and his customer service is great. The food was delicious too! Good atmosphere, really turned it around whoever runs it now. And Nick, I haven’t forgotten about the dream catcher!

Been the imperial a few times both for drinks and food and it's always been lovely. Staff are great - really welcoming, me and my partner are pretty quiet and they've still been friendly and talkative! Drinks are reasonably priced and the foods amazing! Highly recommended.

Not been to the Imperial in quite a while, but popped in for a drink on Friday afternoon. I was very surprised to see the place full at 4:45pm on a Friday afternoon. Great atmosphere and very helpful staff. Will defintely be back again.

The Imp or “the imperial” has new owners. The food is really good and so is the service, I recommend the burger its probably one of the best I’ve had in the last few months.. however the roast was also amazing. When you walk in you’re often welcomed and the staff are polite and remember your order, the wait times are low. Perfect place to socialise with others and a good Beer garden to match. Big tv screen is also for the big games.

First time visiting this pub, lovely welcome, great pint of Jail Ale... accompanied with complimentary house savoury snacks, what a nice touch! Very appetising food menu, will definitely be back to try it out. Eclectic garden and a good range of liquid to keep everyone happy. Good pub 👍

The imperial is 1 of the best pubs in the local area, Anna and Craig are some of the nicest people. The food is superb, all local produce. Any pub that serves Venison and isn’t afraid of advertising that fact, then t they have my vote.

Just popped in to have a pint but without doubt the very best pint of Tribute I've ever had and I've had a few ! Great service as well .

Went for Sunday lunch. Absolutely delicious. Generous helpings of beef, homemade yorkshires and gravy, interesting veggies like braised fennel. Excellent service and cold beer too. Nice beer garden to top it off.

Excellent bar staff who are super friendly and helpful. The beer garden is beautiful especially on a summers day. I would definitely say if your in Ivybridge its worth visiting. May not look much from the outside but its worth the time going in and enjoying a drink. Friendly and well thought out.

What a gem this pub is. The food is exceptional. A quirky menu where you can pick and choose your sides to go with either starters or mains. Eaten here twice and the food has been excellent both times. The landlords are Craig and Anna....
