Haven’t been for too long, but you should all know that this is one of the best, friendliest, prettiest, real pubs around. Really great food and drink. Owned and run by a chef and his family. What’s not to love? PS my son is a chef abroad at the moment working on a luxury yacht, been making food all over the world in the last year. When he phoned me last week, he said he is really looking forward to going to the Church House Inn when he gets back home. Honest to goodness that’s what he said to me on the phone from The Netherlands a few days ago!

Stumbled upon this cosy oasis on a cold, dark, wet evening, we were in desperate need of shelter and found the most accommodating little spot - the whole family & co. were incredibly friendly and welcoming. We had a table held for us without even asking because they thought we'd like to dry our clothes by the fire, and by jove they were right. It was the perfect stay I wish it were possible to give more stars, our soles and souls are warm again thanks to them.

Lovely pub, recently taken over by a lovely family. So good to see it open again. The landlord shared some great ideas he's got for the place. Can't wait to return to try out their food which smelled delicious whilst we were there. Edit: we returned as promised to try out the food and we were not disappointed! My husband commented that it was the best meal he had eaten this year...don't know whether to be delighted or insulted!! 🤣 Definitely will now need to return to try out some of the other meals on the menu board. 😋

What a great pub. Food gets 5/5 stars not because it's particularly gastro or anything, but because it's good hearty pub food of the sort you'd hope to get in a pub. Service would get 10 stars if that was an option. And 5/5 for atmosphere too - a friendly buzz on a Saturday evening but also very chilled, relaxed and relaxing. A benchmark for all country pubs.

Six of us descended after a walk on the moors. Debating what meat was likely to be on offer was delighted to see that all options were covered. Most of us went for pork, with one lamb and a couple of turkey and ham pies. All served with a good selection of veg, ample portions and good service. Some of us managed pudding, quite expensive but equally good to eat. Washed down with a local real ale all in all good value. Very busy, sunshine helped but would suggest best to reserve

I absolutely love this pub. Discovered it a few months ago and have been back several times. The staff are welcoming (it's family run) and the pub is beautiful inside. The food is home cooked (even the chips are home made!) I have never had a bad meal here. I once commented I love apple sauce and since then whenever I order a meal they bring out a small bowl of some. They really do make the effort to make you welcome. They welcome dogs too which is a bonus. I believe they are soon opening rooms upstairs for b&b. As it's a really old pub I expect these will be quite quirky rooms. I'd definitely recommend visiting for food and a warm welcome.

We've been coming to the Church House for several months, its by far the best pub for food we've come across for years. We travel from Taunton for the Sunday Roasts, they're amazing with generous portions and always perfectly cooked.
