Really enjoyed this place, for the first (first of many) time today! Ideal setting, on the edge of Dartmoor. Perfect for cyclists, walkers, workers, but especially families, who love food and animals. I’m a big lad with a large appetite, so I had the Cob breakfast with hash browns and a side of chips (for the table 😆), all very nicely cooked. Just about managed my fair share, but upset I forgot to leave room for the desserts, which looked amazing 🧁 🍰 Will be back soon 😁

Situated between Elfordleigh Hotel and Moorland Hotel this little gem will wow your taste buds. They have a varied menu including vegetarian options. We went for breakfast today and were met by owners Sharon and Steve who welcomed us with smiles and laughter, as we share the same names!. The friendly staff served us with a smile and the food was fantastic. We had the Cob breakfast which was freshly made to order. On site they have a child's play area inside and out, picnic tables, large car park, ponies, goats, pigs, chickens and turkeys - so beautiful to see. I would recommend to anyone.

Not as described at all. Cafe was dirty as was childrens play area with visible dirt and the soft play floor not covering the concrete. We Had to ask for the table to be cleaned which it was but with a filthy cloth which missed the dry beans on the table. No running water in toilet and no sign to say the tap was out of order. Had our food not already been prepared I would have asked for a refund due to the condition of the place. At best this an old outbuilding with some very old kids equipment with a plastic cover on the ceiling. I’d question how this place remains open.

I've been bringing my boys, and introducing friends and family to this delightful cafe for a couple of years. The food is delicious with lots of variety on offer to suit all.. Little soft play area for the Little ones and animals to fall in love with. Today we met their new 2 year old stallion otto. The owner and staff are lovely and welcoming.. I shall keep returning at every opportunity and will continue to introduce people to the wonderful little gem. Thank you farmyard cafe Laura and family..

It's like a junk yard with old windows, falling to bits shed to welcome you. I appreciate it's a very rustic style but take the stuff to the tip. The high chair and table were filthy. I cleaned them with a wet wipe and it was black. The toilets looked like they hadn't been cleaned for a long time and the baby change had mould growing on it. The coffee machine was broke so ordered a tea, they charged £2.40 for a tea bag and you have the pleasure of making it yourself. It's not cheap nor clean. I'd suggest a visit from environmental health and a review of the 5 on the hygiene certificate is needed desperately. I let the staff know the high chair and table was disgusting and they said they'd sort it out. I won't be returning.

Anyone heading to Cadover Bridge from Plympton have probably passed this many times and said "We need to go there". That included us. So today we visited for breakfast. Now if you are a eatery snob stop reading now. This is not the Ritz but instead a rural, true to itself farm cafe that is honest. The staff are brilliant. Only two lovely ladies were there and they were really friendly and went out of thier way to make our visit perfect. There is an excellent choice on the menu, the prices are very cheap and the portion sizes were really good. Outside there are animals you can interact with, which our young daughter and her friend loved, and the location is lovely. We will definitely be back for the service and the food. This a real gem and a must visit location, but only if you are open minded and understand that it is a farm.

Great for take away on way to from the Moors or good place to sit and have a bite to eat. Friendly and hard working staff. Despite today being very hot ands the cafe busy.we were served a hot meal in 10 mins. Should have taken away a few cakes as we were too full! Toilets and a large car park on site. Loved interacting with the goats and horses that were roaming around the yard.a great place for children to appreciate the animals . here. Have been here several times and never disappoints. Homemade cakes are a good variety and size. Highly recommend this cafe.

Went to the farmyard cafe yesterday for a high tea with friends as there is a new tearoom there. The sandwiches were all fresh and tasty, there was an excellent selection of delicious cakes including scones with jam and cream. You could have either tea or coffee, all presented on bone China plates and cups. Very traditional, very filling and very good value. Sharon, who runs the tearoom was very friendly and attentive and made us all very welcome. We all had a wonderful time and I highly recommend you try it! Very good value for money

Today we tried the new afternoon tea experience at Vieras tearoom at the farmyard cafe The tea room was nicely presented with nice China and had a nice cosy atmosphere. The waitress service was excellent with a wide variety of teas and coffees available and regularly topped up. The food - all freshly made and homecooked. Today's offerings were egg mayo, cucumber, tuna and ham and mustard finger sandwiches. Fresh home made scone with home made jam and clotted cream and finally just to fill you up completely a mini carrot cake, a mini banana cake, a mini millionaires shortbread and a couple of fresh 🍓 for the healthy touch. A very nice experience, you should try it!!

The staff were lovely but this place needs a huge overhaul. It is a lovely concept with far animals free to roam, but their housing needs a huge revamp. Upon entering the cafe, we noticed a room with smoke billowing out, which may have been someone smoking (but not sure?) but this put us off immediately. This place has potential and would love to see it blossom but needs a lot of work. Food was ok, standard typical cafe food. Would be further improved if hanging baskets were real flowers instead of artificial. Made the place feel a bit ‘tacky’. Very friendly but feels a bit grimy and dated.

We are always passing this place but never had cause to stop . Today we did as we were coming home and we were fancying a breakfast. Caught them just as they were opening up but it was “ Take a seat” and that was when the hi vis man came in . You know it’s going to be good when the man in orange walks in ! All in , low carb , build your own , baps and baguettes and a mug with a turkey on and lots more . This place is GOLD ! Halfway between Plymouth and Ivybridge, on a road near Cadover bridge with sheep walking around, it is worth a detour and always for a decent breakfast and did I mention this man has a Devon County Best in Show ribbon for his cakes and jams ? They even have Hogs Pudding and the best tasting brown sauce I’ve ever found ! I took home carrot cake , banana cake and light fruit cake …..oh c’mon this man has awards is would be rude not to 😉….. Not fancy but if you’re walking or cycling or just in the mood for a good honest local cafe then this is your place . 😊

It has the added benefit of a mini soft play which my grandson really enjoyed whilst waiting for his food. The breakfast we had ordered was so worth the wait. It was beautiful, delicious bacon and sausages. We both commented on the fried eggs which were perfectly cooked. (Can't stand snotty eggs). They were lovely. The coffee was also very nice. Well worth a visit. Maybe expect to wait a while for food because it is cooked from fresh and perfection takes time. 👍

We had a small ish gathering of approx. 6 or 7 children who LOVED the soft play area. Though small, it kept them entertained for hours! The service was friendly. The food good and the cake - amazing! The animals were under quarantine at this time, but having visited before, it's a lovely outside space with chickens and pigs. You can give a donation for chicken feed which is a great experience for young and old! This really is a lovely, quirky cafe. High recommend for a light bite, breakfast, coffee, cake and/or play! My daughter arranged to take us to the Farmyard Café as a birthday treat for my husband. I had never heard of it and she had never been there but found it on the internet. Well, what a surprise. It was lovely. Being a really horrible day cold and wet, we walked into a warm and inviting café. The menu was excellent, and the food delicious. We were late getting there, so we missed out on the delicious roast! (met a friend already there and said how lovely it was, but it was all sold out!) Nevertheless, we had equally delicious great food. There is a lovely "tack" room selling everything for the horses, and lots of things to buy all around the café. Outside but undercover still, were all the "homeless" animals, miniature ponies, a huge pig, ponies, goats, chickens, ducks, all running around. Beautifully clean and well fed too. We all enjoyed our surprise day out, and will certainly be going there again. Did I say "very reasonable?" Well it was. Thank you to all concerned for such a warm welcome and lovely day.

The Farmyard Cafe is tucked away on a lane near Dartmoor's vast China clay workings, so somewhat off the beaten track, but it's among the nicest cafes I've ever visitied. Don't expect slick and stylish, because it's exactly what is says, a rustic farm cafe, but you can get excellent grub at very good prices, and in our case big mugs of very welcome tea. There's a little shop too, and they've made an effort to keep the children entertained.

Also crafts for sale and gifts, sweets for the children, what more could you want under one roof. We would recommend anyone to visit. We LOVE it!! and big thank you to the staff for always being so welcoming. x

Love this place, owners are great and staff lovely. The best breakfast in Plymouth 😎 And they do breakfast all day so rushing to get up. Dogs welcome so great if your going in moors. And added benefit of small farm out back.

Tried this place for the first time today as my son loves his breakfast. As my son is an expert in big breakfasts he states it is the best breakfast he has had. The place is what it is a farmyard cafe we had a lovely experience . If you are expecting to have good local food in a relaxed environment this is the place for you. Bonus that they serve breakfast all day.

So nice to visit this old favourite of ours again. Friendly and freshly cooked food with a mug of tea or coffee. The new tables are great, big wooden farmhouse tables. Customers are friendly as many have dogs. Prices are very reasonable and are piping hot and go down a treat. Thank you.

I found this cafe by chance as I was heading back across the moor to the quarry the other day and noticed their sign. As it was a nice day my wife and I were out and about and I thought we would take a look, wow im so glad we did. If you’re after haute cuisine look elsewhere, this is rustic but so very homely and welcoming and the food is proper “farmhouse fare’ but that’s just how I like it, the staff/owners were really friendly and I was shocked at how reasonably priced it was. It is great for families too as out back they have a full range of farm animals to get in amongst, we especially liked the cheeky goats. I could have sat there all afternoon such was the lovely setting and atmosphere. There is a good sized car park and bike racks and I was pleased to see a farm worker had stopped by in a tractor, (always a good sign when the locals are using a place). I left with a big smile on my face and as a local they have just made a new regular customer, can’t wait to go back again!!

At lunchtime on Bank Holiday Monday, 27 August 2018 I went with a friend and her 6-year-old daughter to the Farmyard Cafe for my first visit - they had been a few times before and it will certainly not be my last time! The food was simple but beautifully cooked and served in good time. It was very good value for money. Young Ryver is a fussy eater but she cleared her plate! The room created a superb country environment with lovely pictures, scarecrows and farmyard artefacts around the walls. Going through a side door one entered a world of chicken, goats, guinea pigs and other farmyard animals - a lovely experience for anyone who likes the countryside. The cafe gives a special welcome to country folk with their dogs and horses and it was so heartwarming to have them around. It was a real joy for children, eating great food in a real country environment. I have found a real gem!

Don’t go here if you want posh. It’s not that. What it is though is a down to earth take us as you find us great value cafe. The owners are so friendly, nothing is too much bother, dog friendly, farmyard animals for kids to go and see, log burner when it’s cold, a lovely atmosphere. The food is fab and value for money we live within walking distance (how lucky are we!) but if you go onto the moors, visit for breakfast, brunch, lunch or afternoon snack or even just an ice cream. You will get a warm welcome.

Impromptu cuppa stop after a leisurely dog walk at Cann Woods. Stumbled across this warm n welcoming farm yard cafe. Friendly staff who offer great service. With our cuppa we had a large plate of cheesy chips which were hot, scrummy and very good value. They offer a varied menu from hot food, snacks and cakes which won’t break the bank. Great little place that is also dog friendly, will definitely be back.

This is a great little place it does not look much from the outside in fact it looks a like a bit of a junk yard. However do not be put off by this the service is very good and the food is great we had an all day breakfast. I would suggest you have a cup of tea which is included with your meal as the coffee is almost undrinkable. But it is still well worth the stop for a quick breakfast.

Stayed here for one night lovely little pub rooms very nice and cosy unfortunately couldn’t watch tv as there wasn’t a remote and couldn’t use the shower as the button was missing of it which definitely would of been noticed on cleaning … the carpet in stairs were quite dirty and the people I didn’t find very welcoming sadly

Christmas lunch for 12 of us. Pre ordered from a balanced and varied seasonal menu that included fish and vegetarian options. Excellent value and we were very well looked after. Exceptional selection of well cooked Vegetables, recipe for the red cabbage please . Some of us were disappointed that we didn't have room for a desert ! This is a family owned proper pub with helpful competent staff. Parking right opposite but payment by card challenged some of us oldies.

Limited opening times, No food so asked out of curtesy if grandson could eat a snack. Was told no but to eat outside in the garden which had a closed sign on the gate, so had eat in the smoking area. Didn't feel particularly welcome. No alternative snack was offered. Wasn't very accommodating, we were staying local and would have returned for a meal but they said closed Monday and Tuesday and we would need to book if wanted to return. I would advise anyone to give this pub a a miss as there are much better pubs in the area
