We spent a night at The Globe whilst visiting our first Grandson. The staff were friendly and helpful. We met our family in the restaurant for a meal and the food was excellent, although they didn’t have steak which ironically we all ordered. The rooms were clean and the bed was very comfy. Basic drink making available for early morning coffee. Breakfast had many options, we both went for the full English which set us up for the day. We would recommend “The Globe” to anyone visiting South Devon.

We had a lovely week day Evening meal. The lady who served us was welcoming and friendly. We had Brie and Whitebait as starters , the Whitebait was good unfortunately most of the Brie had leaked out of the parcels. Followed by steak and steak and ale pie for mains, both were really tasty. Our daughter who is 2 had the children's fish and chips, her fish was nice and flaky and a generous portion size. We both had a glass of red (Shiraz & Malbec) with our mains which were really good. Overall we had a very enjoyable meal, which reasonably priced and the service from the lady was very good.

This was an important occasion, a wedding rehearsal for 27 close friends and family, and Ben and his team did us proud. We had the whole of the newly renovated dining room to ourselves, a specially devised menu with vegan and vegetarian options, lots of good wine, and a team of thoughtful and skilled waiters. Congratulations and thanks to the chef and his team for the delicious food.

Went as a family, who had a wide variety of dietary needs. The menu was very limited for all courses, with a lack of vegetarian or salad options. Whilst the staff were friendly and helpful, overall the food was overpriced and unimaginative. Potential, but lots of work to do.

Excellent pub, been here a couple of times. The beers are really well looked after and were great on both visits. On our first visit, we had a lovely dinner, we popped in just before they stopped serving food and the staff were very accommodating and very happy to serve us a 3 course dinner. Having been to quite a few different places in South Hams over the years, this is as good, if not better than a lot of the over hyped places in the area. There is also an excellent walk from Kingsbridge along the estuary that starts or ends at the pub. Bus stop to town is 100m from the pub and runs hourly

Due to Torcross and Slapton Sands being busy, we wanted somewhere nearby where we could sit outside for dinner in the shade. A quick Google map search and... Voila. We were greeted by some lovely, friendly and helpful staff. Table for six and a high chair. Food was tasty, particularly the burger, pizza, crab pasta and hake for my one year old, it was very fresh. Great selection of beer, 3 hand pulled local beers (Salcombe Gold, Dartmoor Jail Ale and Bays Funky Monkey). There's an outside garden bar, open when the weather is lovely. Wednesdays are jazz and folk nights (alternate Wednesdays) from 8pm, last night was folk (my favourite) and the car park got busy, the live music played in the corner from locals having a jam together on accordions, guitars, fiddles and bagpipes; it was something spectacular, such talent amongst the generations. Thank you to Mr B Baxter who shared his Yorkshire song with me, it really resonated with some of the history of Yorkshire towns and villages near to where I live and really cemented the friendliness and character of a great village pub. 🍺🐒

Everything has been thought about on the menu ; there is something for everyone and each combination of flavour is well thought out. Hi, We visited your pub last Thursday as we'd been very impressed with the quality, freshness and presentation of the food from our previous visit last Autumn. However, I have to say the meal we'd had last Thursday was very disappointing. The halloumi starter - poor quality cheese and rather a very small portion Garlic bread - dripping in oil Fish and chips were okay The fish pie was very limited in the selection of fish, it basically was just white fish The mussels which was described as being cooked in sauce, was presented as poor quality mussels cooked and sat on top of the sauce and should have been mixed in with the sauce after the mussels had been cooked The red Thai curry, well a sauce poor over pre cooked, pre sliced chicken whereas the chicken should have been cooked with the sauce, the prawn crackers were from a bag and poor quality. Overall a disappointing meal and we can only suggest a word with the person or persons responsible and maybe some basic training taken.

Easily one of the best places we have ever stayed in. Pros Comfortable beds, excellent fresh food especially the seafood platter, pleasant hard working staff, easy car park, large spacious room, large TV, plenty of refreshments in the room even including de-caff tea, quiet. Cons (Minor) We had to wait 50 minutes for food most nights as only one chef had turned up. We can forgive that, we all have problems. However, perhaps the staff could have been more alert to this and offered a free drink while we waited, or the reception staff could have reacted with less suspicious incredulity when paying the bill. Digital radiators are a mistake, they rely on batteries being changed regularly in the control knobs which were unresponsive. Overall That said, the attention to detail here is second to none and we still give the Globe Inn 10/10. Someone has taken a great deal of time and thought to get it right. If you’re thinking of staying in this area – book it.

We arrived to find a very limited ‘summer menu’. However we thought if it’s limited at least it’ll give more time for quality - how wrong! We ordered: 1 x Tiger Prawn Penang Curry 1 x Pie of the day 1 x Margarita pizza 1 x 8oz steak The Penang curry was reasonable, had some flavour but lacked the menagerie of flavours expected of such a dish. The prawns were over done though. Pie of the day was a sloppy gloop of stodgy soft ‘pastry’ with dry pieces of steak, frozen ‘skin on chips’ and emaciated veg. The margarita pizza was at best only fit for lining a shoe, it was as stiff as card board and as tasteless as such as well. 8oz was overcooked and returned on two occasions which left us very uncomfortable. There is a HUGE difference between medium and well done! The steak was completely brown throughout and dry, it couldn’t have been any more over cooked if it were ash! Several of the ordered sides didn’t arrive with the meals and had to requested on several occasions, eventually arriving as we were ‘finished’. Worrying there were ‘alien’ items on some of the dishes such as bits of noodle, mushroom and fish where there shouldn’t be. This is a kitchen which is not being professionally managed or handled. When an establishment such as this closes as lunch time during summer season you know they’re just not getting the trade and so not worth it for them. Sadly I suspect the couple of ploughed too much money in to the business to pack it in, which sadly they need to do. A nice environment to sit in with a drink but locally you’re spoilt for choice food wise and it’s simply a waste of time and money at The Globe Inn, which is way past its best now!

One would hope that after the Covid-19 enforced lockdown that restaurants would ensure they review their current practices to ensure they attract and retain custom and not cut corners, that is not the world we live in any more. Every penny is not felt by every person and so it's important to get things right. So we were greeted by a lovely young lady wearing gloves and a mask who asked us to take a seat and she would return to take our order. Just before taking our seat I looked down by the steps and a sign had fallen with smashed glass around it (More on that later). The young lady returned and took our drinks order to return fairly quickly with them and to take our food order. Our order was as follows:2 x Steak and Ale Pie with potatoes1 x Lamb shank on a bed of mashed potato with broccoli1 x side of roasted vegetables. We arrived at 1pm so an hour before they stopped serving food and therefore the expectation was that we'd get a good meal that was properly cooked. Instead, our food arrived and had clearly been microwaved. The pies were blisteringly hot and the gravy as dry and the granules that probably made it. The pastry was soggy like you get when you do microwave it. That said the taste was OK to good. The lamb, on the other hand, was an embarrassment to them. I have had leather shoes mended that came back more moist and enticing to eat. I wasn't sure if my knife was up to cutting it or whether I needed an electric saw. What I took absolute offence to was the £3.50 charged for the roasted vegetables. What arrived was 7 chunks of carrot and parsnip that had been given a glimpse of the roasting tin at best. Nobody came around to ask if everything was OK and so I went to look for someone. I came across a lady in the corridor who said the Chef had gone home and so I was unable to swap my meal. I wasn't impressed and returned to my table. When the bill came I refused to pay for the vegetables and almost felt like refusing the lamb but I do eat it however unpalatable so I felt I couldn't do so.I was still hungry and so opted for dessert. This was actually rather tasty so solved some of the issues. We were so disappointed with The Globe this time because we've had some superb meals here in the past, especially the Sunday roasts but this meal at c£75 was not good at all! There are so many pubs nearby to the Globe such as the Tradesmans Arms, Cricketers Inn, Church Inn and of course those in Kingsbridge. Which such competition you'd expect everyone to be on top of their game. In the game that the Globe is in they have clearly dropped the ball. Back to the broken glass at the entrance. Another diner had informed two staff about it and the broken glass sat there for at least the entirety of our meal (1hr 10)

As usual with trying to find a good place to stay, you have t rely on a good writup.Well, the Globe Inn has passed all expectations. The bedroom was large and immaculate and well appointed, but the best was yet to come. The evening meal.Absolutely delicious. Starting with one plate of fried prawns and a plate of whitebait you, followed by seafood pancake for my wife and a huge pork chop for me. Superb! It was all so good, how could we stop,! So one creme brulee and one treacle tart (smothered in clotted cream), saw us staggering up the stairs to our bedroom absolutely stuffed but very happy. So, excellent plus is my verdict.

Well, we visited The Globe expecting the usual “gastro nonsence” and were relieved to find that it was just good honest pub grub and plenty of it. I had an enormous chicken and leek pie with lots of vegetables. My wife had a vegan Thai curry that was right up there with a Thai restaurant red curry. The staff were all great and attentive. We couldn’ t manage a pud which is why we only gave it four stars!! Brilliant.

We stayed here for one night while attending a friends wedding in salcombe. The room was lovely and clean with a great shower!Staff were really friendly. We struggled to get a taxi into Kingsbridge on the Friday night so the lady who worked in the bar kindly offered to take us. Thank you!Breakfast was great and set us up for the day. We would definitely recommend this hotel.

We visited over 2 nights and tried some different meals. On the first night we had a steak and ale pie and fish and chips. The pie was enormous and well filled with meaty chunks and was served with carrots, parsnips and potatoes and was tasty. The fish and chips were alright but the batter was hard and rather dry, the fish was tasty. The local lager and ale were delicious!!The following night we had whitebait(good) and baked goats cheese which was delicious as were our main courses, another steak and ale pie and a curry both which were great. The pub was busy but we booked our tables the previous evenings. Although our first night we wanted to have a leisurely look at the menu we were told that there is a system and we could have them later on, we thought it a bit strange but there was obviously a strict system.Overall the experience was good and was reasonably priced, we would return.

We ate here 3 times during our recent holiday in Frogmore and were extremely pleased. The food was good (the portions huge, so beware!). Service was friendly and the general atmosphere relaxed. We also went to the Jazz night and enjoyed that hugely. Singer had a lovely voice and the music was very pleasant. Prices also reasonable. Parking at the back seemed plentiful (we were able to walk). Would certainly recommend.

Just got back from three very pleasant 3 nights at the globe. Nice clean rooms, friendly staff and great food. The breakfasts really set you up for the day and the local sausages and bacon were excellent. The pub is perfectly situated for exploring the beautiful South Hams area of Devon. Nice local ales and cider too.

Staying in a cottage in the village and booked a table for 4 for Sunday lunch. Cannot fault it! Great service from the bar staff and waitresses. We ordered 2 roast beef, a roast pork and a steak pie. All really enjoyed our meals. Generous amount of meat, roast potatoes and veg. Perfect Yorkshire puddings and crackling with the pork! Puddings lovely too - highly recommended!

We were told this was basic pub food but believe me our two meals were so much better than the basic we get in Bournemouth! Megrim sole was delicious and my ‘small ‘ portion was quite large. Husband enjoyed his fish and chips. Excellent cheese and biscuits; great treacle pudding. Great beer. Good service.

This typically English pub was a welcoming place, mercifully free of large sports screens and loud music. The food was fairly standard pub fare, but done well.

We arrived for a three day break over last weekend and we couldn't be happier with our stay there. Space, immaculate rooms, a great stocked bar/ restaurant with real ale, hardworking and friendly proprietors, excellent food, what more could you wish for ?

My wife and I dined here at the recommendation of our B & B hosts, as one of nearest dining options. The pub itself offers the typical atmosphere you would expect from a small village, with a warm welcome from the female member of staff behind the bar. We were quickly settled in at our table, and menus and first round of drinks all sorted. The food offerings are typical pub fare featuring locally sourced produce, all well presented on the plate. There are some local ales in tap, and a short list of reasonably priced wines. The locals I’m sure would appreciate The Globe as their local drinking hole, with the added bonus of a hearty meal. So did we!

We stayed at The Globe for 4 nights at the end of April, and both had a very enjoyable experience. The room was clean and cosy, with a comfortable bed, and the usual amenities. The owners were friendly and welcoming, as were the rest of the staff. The bar / restaurant is very much a British country pub, with a good range of local brews. (I can't comment on the ales as they're not my preference, but the Devon Mist cider was certainly a pleasant find.) There is a split level patio area at the rear of the pub, which I'm sure would be glorious when the sun puts in an appearance. Breakfast was what you'd expect from an English pub, and, as well as being a match for the heartiest of appetites, was one of the tastiest I've ever eaten. We ate in the restaurant several times, and I can honestly say that there wasn't one bad dish. All home made, and all very, very, nice. The Sunday roast was delicious, the pizzas were filling, the brownie was twice the size of any I've had previously, but the stand out for me was the steak and ale pie. I'm a meat and potato's type of guy, and usually have steak pie when it's on the menu, and this one takes 1st place. Delicious, crammed with lean meat, and pastry where it should be. (Restaurants take note - a small dish of meat with a pastry lid dropped on it is not a pie!) All in, I'd certainly recommend The Globe for a stay, a meal, or just a quick drink as you pass through the Devon countryside.

We were on holiday in Devon and ate at The Globe on our last evening. If we'd discovered it earlier we would have gone back twice! Service was very speedy and efficient and our two waitresses were really friendly and helpful. We had the amazing seafood pancake and we relished every bite. My husband had the cheeseboard and it had a huge selection of cheeses with a delicious chutney. He manfully ate about half of it and they very kindly wrapped up the remainder and he happily took it home. Great food, nice staff. Would definitely eat here again if we lived closer!

This pub is a hidden gem. We couldn’t find anywhere for a Sunday night and yet here was a great pub that we otherwise wouldn’t have come to. I highly recommended the fish crepes. Unusual and highly effective. Also a stunning homemade warm brownie for desert

Recommended to eat there but was bit disappointed the Balti curry we ordered was not like a Balti. Sauce was too spicy and runny meat was dry like cooked separate to sauce and pompedoms were covered in grease/oil and spoilt the flavour

Stayed here for one night lovely little pub rooms very nice and cosy unfortunately couldn’t watch tv as there wasn’t a remote and couldn’t use the shower as the button was missing of it which definitely would of been noticed on cleaning … the carpet in stairs were quite dirty and the people I didn’t find very welcoming sadly

Christmas lunch for 12 of us. Pre ordered from a balanced and varied seasonal menu that included fish and vegetarian options. Excellent value and we were very well looked after. Exceptional selection of well cooked Vegetables, recipe for the red cabbage please . Some of us were disappointed that we didn't have room for a desert ! This is a family owned proper pub with helpful competent staff. Parking right opposite but payment by card challenged some of us oldies.

Limited opening times, No food so asked out of curtesy if grandson could eat a snack. Was told no but to eat outside in the garden which had a closed sign on the gate, so had eat in the smoking area. Didn't feel particularly welcome. No alternative snack was offered. Wasn't very accommodating, we were staying local and would have returned for a meal but they said closed Monday and Tuesday and we would need to book if wanted to return. I would advise anyone to give this pub a a miss as there are much better pubs in the area
