I have eaten Salcombe ice cream on two occasions whilst visiting the area, 1 x East Portlemouth kiosk 1 x Start Bay kiosk the ice cream was delicious and the service was friendly and helpful. Thoroughly Recommend

I would highly recommend the chocolate making experience and ice cream factory tasting and tour at Salcombe Dairy. It was a brilliant 2 hours, thoroughly interesting, fun, and delicious! Dan, Ellie and all of the team and family made us feel so welcome and we're super kind and generous. My two boys loved every minute of it and so did I. We got to tour the ice cream factory and the chocolate factory and we made our own chocolate with lots of different flavours to add. Then we got to package what we made in the most beautiful packaging I have ever come across, so we have beautiful, tasty gifts to give to family and friends. Don't miss the passion fruit truffles, the rose chocolate bar or the cherry ice cream. A highlight was the circular tube with truffles sliding into our hands and trying all the different flavours of chocolate. To my surprise I loved the dark chocolate which is rich and fruity. This company deserve to do well, you can feel the passion they have infused into every part of the business and how much they care about the environment and people. All of their chocolate is organic and nut free and they give a percentageof profits to charity. I'm so glad that we did this experience it was a memorable highlight of our holiday! The ice cream here is undoubtedly lovely ice cream, but their service is getting sloppy. The rum and raisin ice cream don’t have any raisins in, which I pointed out to the staff. They said it was rum and raisin anyway. I ordered it and it was a simple vanilla, maybe a clotted cream. I then checked the rum & raisin at a different store and it was very much a rum & raisin. I went back and explained that they had labelled their ice cream wrong and they were a little embarrassed but didn’t seem to care or be at all interested in changing it. If they are so casual about their labelling it could be very dangerous for those with allergies

Situated in the centre of town in a prime site, excellent product, sitting space inside with cheap side side tables and chairs but a rip off - money trap. Cheaper ice-cream elsewhere in town. No AMEX credit card accepted.

can’t leave a review because other customers were allowed to push in front of me, a meek person, so i did not feel comfortable placing an order. shame because the ‘salcombe mud’ looked right up my street and i’ve heard the quality of the ice cream is very good

The ice cream is heaven and I've long been a fan but a trip to the chocolate factory with the family this summer was a disappointment. I would have expected something more like the south Devon Chilli company experience... Each chocolate line ought to have samples available. If the chocolate is as good as the ice cream I'm sure I could have taken a punt but at over 5 pounds a bar and with two little people it was hard to process the options...

The ice cream is rich, creamy , live up to the region's reputation for producing excellent dairy products. It has slightly higher butterfat content compared to some other ice creams, resulting in a more indulgent and creamy experience. One of the best ice cream i have tried.

Amazing ice-cream. Absolutely luxurious! Would definitely recommend to everyone in the area. Vegan options as well. Great for my peanut allergy as I can never even have the cones and sometimes the actual ice-cream from other places.

Had a fantastic time on The Salchemist Masterclass experience. Chris, Dan, and the team were so friendly and provided a great insight into how both ice cream and chocolate are made. Would definitely recommend to anyone with a sweet tooth 🍦🍫

I had really looked forward to trying the Kenyan coffee here. I was underwhelmed by the reality. No discernible taste of coffee. Satisfyingly cold, but very like eating an ice lolly with all the flavour pre-sucked out of it. £4.00 for a single scoop added insult to injury.

The Rum and Raisin Ice Cream is the best we have ever eaten - and we have tried a lot over the years!

Salcombe Dairy Ice Cream is a fantastic product and I’ve been buying it for years and just down the street is their Chocolate Factory where they make amazing chocolate from Chocolate Beans and you can watch the process

Nice but expensive ice cream, but hey, this is Salcombe.  Must be mobbed in the summer, but we have the place to ourselves.   The ice cream factory is just along the road.  

Go into salcombe more choice of flavours, cheaper and slightly bigger portions. Coconut flavour was very average with only a hint of flavour that was very artificial. Sorry not your best

The popcorn flavoured ice cream is the nicest ice cream I have ever tasted in my life. I wish I could buy it in bulk… it’s absolutely divine!!

They offer numerous varieties of Ice Creams. Some of the wonderful flavours include the Kenyan Coffee and Stem Ginger Ice Cream. We were glad to note that these ice creams are suitable for Vegetarians and also exclude allergens like eggs. We enjoyed the Kenyan Coffee Ice cream which is difficult to find in most of UK.

It’s a regular stop every time we visit Salcombe 😃 We even got few tubs to take home & just realised that they deliver it! 😀vainilla Madagascar is one of the best in 🇬🇧, the strawberry until last year too. This batch it’s a lack of strawberry’s. The Belgian chocolate lovely. I wish one day they will make a Pistachio! They also sell chocolates that they are very good & vegan. They offer some dairy free ice cream too. They have hot & cold drinks too. Next to a large carpark.

Just a quick one. Bought ice cream here last week. Disappointed. The coconut one contained ice that tasted of diluted bleach and the espresso coffee tasted like an instant one. Hope caught them on an off day

Absolutely delicious ice-creams and a delightful veranda setting. Quirky seating - tractor seats on old milk churns and inside the shop the counter and display case were like an old boat.

As someone who suffers with a severe nut allergy finding somewhere that I feel comfortable and are willing to be so open and honest about there ingredients is a rarity. Can’t remember the last time I enjoyed a sweet treat- Salcombe diary you have made my dreams come true your ice cream and chocolate are amazing. They do not skimp or portion size or quality. A definite must for a visit if you are in Salcombe. Please don’t ever change your nut free policy 🙏🏻.

Brilliant place. Lovely staff. Yummy sorbets for those like me who are dairy intolerant. And gluten free cones! Fab because I'm also gluten intolerant. Great range of ice cream flavours too for those who can eat dairy..

So creamy with a great kick of stem ginger. One of the best I've tasted. Had the Kenyan coffee flavour the next day. Again, very creamy but only a very mild taste of coffee. I would prefer a stronger coffee flavour.

5 star ice cream. Absolutely delicious and the pricing is completely within the normal range, totally worth a visit. I’ve had three this week haha. On all three visits, I was served by friendly staff and saw how clean everything was. No ice cream was being made, so I couldn’t watch anything through the windows, but that’s okay and it doesn’t change my rating. There is honestly not a lot more that can be said!

We arrived as a group of 8 with two buggies on a wet afternoon plus several of our group had dairy or gluten allergies. The staff were amazing, so keen to help & to ensure everyone had a suitable ice cream. We sat in one of their delightful booths. The helpfulness of the staff was matched by the amazing ice cream. Best we’ve had, we will be back, highly recommend a visit if you are in Dartmouth

Chocolate flavours looked very nice but unfortunately it’s very poor cheap quality chocolate and quite pricey too. Akin to cheap Easter egg chocolate, not the quality you would expect for these prices, very disappointing.

Probably not the best ice cream I have tasted but you can't have a day at the seaside without a ice cream! I chose the clotted cream vanilla and my husband had the vanilla flake both served in a sugar cone for 30p extra. The shop was not busy and service was quick.

I can only review the chocolate bars…. They are not great. Tasted cheap, I have never been so disappointed! I have a box of 10 different bars, so have tried a few of the flavours…. they all lack something. Really sad as the packaging is lovely, the chocolate is just the worst!

The Ice Cream Shop is on the Main Street in Salcombe. It has lots of various flavours of ice cream and you really are spoilt for choice. We had strawberry, honeycomb and chocolate, they were all delicious.

The best ice cream! Particularly their Belgium chocolate and chocolate orange.

Proper ice cream so you get the true flavour. Strawberry really does taste of strawberries not always the case with other commercial ice creams. Stem ginger delicious.

Salted caramel is devine. We stopped in as you do and had several flavours between us . There was plenty because the ice creams were big. Creamy but with good flavours. Delicious!

I had the clotted cream vanilla icecream and it was AMAZING. It was creamy and luxurious. The flat white I had with the icecream was pretty good too.

I came to Salcombe for the weekend with my partner and we have a fondness for ice cream. I knew I would be hunting out Salcombe dairy as I had heard good things, but being from Bristol (with a handful of ice cream places here that are amazing) I felt Salcombe dairy had a lot to live up to. Ok so it wasn't what I would consider mindblowing, but some very tasty flavours and a good selection of flavours too!We visited Kingsbridge which is where we first tried SD ice cream. I had rum and raisin and my partner had mint choc chip. Oh my gosh the rum and raisin was so good. The mint choc chip was very good too, which is why on our last day, in Salcombe, I got a scoop. And the portions are very generous too!

Oh my goodness! I declare that Salcombe ice cream is The Best. Don't leave Salcombe without having a cone or two. I became a convert a while ago and now no other ice cream comes anywhere near. A wide range of flavours and good value. Love it!

Great ice cream actually if that was all we had would have been 5 star review. But I unfortunately purchased 3 hot chocolates for £3 each and 1 once cream for my son that is reason for 1 star. Hot chocolate tasted worse then vending machine hot chocolate and no excuses for that. Could make better in my own kitchen. Hope they read this and take action , easy enough to make fantastic hot chocolate so hope they up their game.

Always excellent and a double portion is necessary to last you until you arrive at the next ice cream location further along the road. Always rum and raisin with cherry on top. !!

I went based on the assurance of friends that this place was tasty. They were not wrong! I had the Salcombe Mud flavour and was one of the most tasty Ice Creams I have had. It was so good, I went back a couple of days later to enjoy a Chocolate Orange flavoured Milkshake. This was brimming with flavour and for £5, was good value for the quality.

Have to say that the ice cream is nice but don't have a coffee. Ordered a flat white and I suspect it had very little coffee in it. Someone is making a lot of money out of a very sub standard product. Possibly the worst that I have tasted.

Disappointed. Ice cream advertised at £6 for 3 scoops. My son used his pocket money to buy an ice cream for him and his dad. Because he asked it to be scoops in one tub and one in another, they charged him £7.50! The Kingsbridge Quay kiosk. Young male server was very rude while lady apologetic. Won’t purchase from Salcombe Dairy again.

We (my family and I) recently stopped by the Salcombe Dairy for Ice cream whilst on a recent holiday. My 6-YO Son, for the first time ever, ate ice cream!! Normally just preferring the cone. My wife and I shared a Mint Choc Chip Sundae that was, quite simply, amazing!The Salcombe Dairy have also started doing their own range of luxurious chocolate and it is, quite simply, a revelation...

Not very often I write a negative review, but after paying £3 for a pretty awful hot chocolate I felt it was only right to write this. Supposed Bar to Cup, it was average to say the least, and maybe teaching you staff that they need to actually stir the hot chocolate rather than just add water or milk.. Also no stirrer offered so had to request one. Disappointed and i wouldn't return.

If you like eating Ice Cream in a massive car why not try here! It's like an Ice cream shop in the middle of Salcombe. I really like Ice Pops and eat about 5 a night.

You will not be disappointed at Salcombe Dairy. When visiting South Devon, Salcombe is beautiful and if you fancy an ice cream here is the perfect spot. A wide range of delicious flavours, I opted for a double scoop with Salcombe Mud (delicious and a must try when in Salcombe) with honeycomb which is equally yummy! 🍦 You get good value for money with a lot of ice cream, there is also vegan sorbets available to. A lovely hidden gem away from the main thoroughfare, with lots of outside seating areas to enjoy the sunshine whilst eating! 🌞

Best ice cream!! Went on a cold day with our kids and loved it! Yummy flavors! Sat outside on comfortable padded beach with cute pillows with nautical theme under heat lamps! Nice touch! Very friendly staff who gave us some great recommendations for the area. We still talk about this place and would love to come back! Highly recommend!

We stopped for an ice cream on our walk as it was a beautiful warm sunny day. I’m not sure what awards this ice cream has won but the strawberries and cream ‘flavour ‘ tasted of nothing but sugar. I could not eat it. It was so sweet I just felt sick One to avoid for the future!

We were recommended the Salcombe Dairy Ice Cream shop in the town centre and so we visited - several times as it is so delicious! Creamy, rich and luxurious! Loads of different flavours on offer, our favourites were toffee and clotted cream honeycomb.

Putting it in a few words :It is one of the best ice creams I have ever tasted :So if one is in Salcombe do go and watch it being made through the window of their shop in Island Street i The shop is very near the bus terminal .

We made a mistake to ask for a milkshake in an ice cream shop. They do ice cream and that's good, stick with it, but kids have a mind of their own and it has to be milkshake so I watched the attendant fill a cup mainly with milk, large quantities of a red syrup along with a small dollop of whippy (no they don't use their nice ice cream for milkshake). Result: kid found it disgusting, fair enough no even we could drink that syrup, milkshake ended up in the bin.

A must do if you like ice cream to be creamy and rich. Obviously popular and surprisingly had extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic staff. Only danger is the desire to test every flavor.
