Visited on a rainy summer day in May, assumed we had secured a table at a run of the mill pub. How wrong we were. Lovely cosy pub, candles, hearth with really friendly staff. We ate a mix from the specials and regular menu. Scallops with Parmesan and breadcrumbs were some of the best scallops ever tasted. Perfectly cooked and the sauce was just divine. Whitebait and mussels followed up, with as cauli broccoli cheese side. Again, amazing quality and the chef is clearly an expert with french style sauces, garlic broth with mussels was incredible and cheesy side was perfect. Whitebait perfectly crispy with I suspect homemade tartare sauce. Good choice of wines, ciders and beers. As an older family of three this was just a really pleasant surprise and without doubt the best meal we have had in Dartmouth. We will be back. Special mention to the chef and Lila from the bar, lovely and genuinely friendly.

We arrived in Dartmouth after a three-hour drive from Dorset and found this pub on our walk around the town. It was about 5pm and not having booked, on the off chance asked if they had a table. Whilst all the tables were booked for later in the evening, we were catered for on the understanding that we left the table before the booking time. That was not a problem as it gave us a couple of hours to eat. We were seated with a beer and perused the menu. There was a varied selection and there were items on the menu that were interesting and different to the standard dishes in other establishments. Yes, there are staple dishes but variety is the spice of life. We ordered liver with bacon and mixed roasted vegetable tart. The liver was served pink and was delicious and I am told the tart was one of the best my wife has tasted. We would definitely eat here again should we be in Dartmouth.

I just realised I had not left a review for the Seven Stars following our visit in September as we plan our return back to Dartmouth. We tried a mix of dishes, including the steak for two of us. Unfortunately it was grisly and thought it was overpriced and Ā£4 for a small portion of cauliflower cheese was over the top. The other dishes were fine, but I am afraid the service let it down on this occasion. Although not appearing overly busy, our repeat drinks order was forgotten, which was perhaps because the two young ladies serving spent more time chatting with each other at the bar, rather than tending to guests. We also noticed other tables waiting to be served as they chatted away. This was our second and last visit as the food/service is better elsewhere in Dartmouth relative to the cost.

We booked this hotel for a 2 night break to stay in September, 10 days before arrival date the county where we live went into lock down due to covid. The t&c stated you could cancel up to 14 days before arrival. So we were 4 days late, after ringing them to explain the situation the attitude from 2 staff members were absolutely appalling! After countless emails and phone calls were told if they resold the rooms they wouldn't take payment of Ā£220. so 2 days later I went on website and the dates we had booked were sold out, I have a date stamped photo proving this, so they clearly had resold our rooms. They then went and charged our card in full...... I have never ever written a bad review but felt so strongly that I don't want other people being ripped off the way we were.

Absolutely disappointed in our recent 2 night stay here.I had phoned up last month to book a room for Two adults and two children and this was confirmed and paid nearly Ā£400 for a 2 night stay.I didn't get any confirmation email and I tried emailing them but nothing. Tried calling them but no one ever seemed to answer calls.Managed to get hold of them the day before arrival and they confirmed my booking.Upon arrival the manageress told us that we only booked a double room. But for an additional Ā£30 a night for each child they would put in day beds. I agreed but told them to just put one in for now as my son may stay with our friends who lives around the corner.Came back that night at 1030 tired and happy from a day out only to be followed upstairs and verbally attacked on our doorstep by the manageress who accused us of trying to sneak our son in without paying!. We tried to explain to her that we just wanted to settle the kids in the room before we came down to notify staff. She didn't want to know.Fortunately my daughter recorded all of this on her phone and both my children were in tears and wanted to leave that night. We were spoken to so badly and offered to leave if they would refund us but she wouldn't.Needless to say this episode ruined the holiday.Shame on the staff to cause trauma and upset to innocent children.Very unfriendly.

We visited the Seven Stars on the first night of our Dartmouth Holiday, we were VERY happy we'd chosen to go there, the children both had pizza, chips and one had beans, one had cucumber!! I had mussels in a garlic and cream sauce with fries and I asked for bread to mop up the extra sauce!! My Husband had steak and kidney pie and LOVED it! Definitely 5 stars for the Seven Stars! Lovely Friendly staff and a great find! We would thoroughly recommend going here. Excellent implementation of COVID-19, we felt safe there.

I had calamari to start and we excellent...My wife had the full Sea Bass and I had the Gammon for mains and both were excellent. Staff were very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. Would recommend for dinner.

We visited in July. Small pub with plenty of character. Good food with huge portions. Service a bit slow when we visited, but it was extremely busy.

My self and my partner had 2 visits to this pub/restaurant. On both occasions the pub was warm and welcoming. The staff were extremely helpful and polite. The food was delicious and was very good value, which is in stark contrast to our visit to the cherub inn (which was dreadful). Overall would recommend every time!

Visit this place only if you like your roast beef uncooked and terrible service . What a shame as it is a fantastic location

Walked into this pub after walking around all the others in Dartmouth and being turned away as a lack of tables due to new social distancing rules. The chap behind the bar did his best to find us a table and gave us a time to return. The service was really good, we were told we had the table for two hours, which suited us. The food was fantastic. Really friendly staff, lovely old pub, Great atmosphere. Will return next time we are in the area.

My sister and I dropped in here for a cheeky half. The staff were very welcoming, the place was clean and everyone was mindful of safety but without losing a sense of enjoyment in the presence of others.Missing a star because they had run out of their draft cider and we didnā€™t eat.But other than that a great pub amongst so many

we stayed here last week,. q lovely quirky pub in beautiful Dartmouth. The staff were lovely and the food was fab. we both had the salad, which was amazing. Im usually a little worried about the size and quality of a salad in Uk, but you could not fault this one. All the food coming out looked lovely. would definately recommend. booking essential

Came in for lunch after a walk over from Blackpool Sands..with dog. Friendly and welcoming staff, and a very substantial sandwiches and ciabatta plus chips. We were well looked after and barely had room for ice cream after (well...there is always room for ice cream, but it was a close run thing!). Very much recommended for SW Coast Path walkers.

Whilst looking for somewhere to eat my friend and I 'found' the Seven Stars and it's a great place. We had to wait a bit as it was very busy, I'd definitely recommend booking. The staff were excellent and friendly. The menu covers most tastes and the doecisls board also looked very good!As I love seafood and it's a coastal town I was purely on fish! Both of my dishes looked and tasted great. My friends were also quality dishes.I'd definitely recommend tbis place and would happily return.
