Food was lovely, had steak and was cooked well and the garlic butter was lovely, service maybe a little slow but it was fairly busy.

We had an amazing night celebrating our friend’s birthday, we stay in Kingswear once or twice a year for a long weekend. The food is always tasty and staff really friendly, what more could you wish for x

Waiting staff need further training. Our bottle of Chablis (£42) was brought to the table, already opened and then left in the cooler on the table! Children were given adult menus with no mention of any alternative. Upon asking, there were some options. No prices given though. I had the Sea Bream. It was filleted, but skin was unfortunately soft and inedible. Otherwise this dish was decent. My husband opted for the whole Sole. That was ok if you’re prepared to put the work in taking it off the bone yourself (they refused to do it). My daughter had the ribs and regretted it. Huge portion, but overcooked and dry. Desserts were just as average. Soft pastry on my lemon tart. We would have skipped desserts, but it was a “Regatta set menu” so would have been paying for a minimum of 2 courses anyway at £35 per head. Bill arrived with service already included, but stating service not included! So be aware. Bad enough paying for service when you have to pour your own wine, let alone paying twice! Overall, an expensive meal, with poor service and very average food. We wouldn’t return.

Yes it was very busy, and the kitchen staff were under pressure, but the communication was excellent and our lovely server bought us some complimentary tortilla chips whilst we waited. The starters were huge! I can wholly recommend the mackerel pate special, and my husband was equally impressed with his brie and garlic starter. Mains were just as lovely (and generous) - the ribs were beautiful and tender, whilst my husband asked his ribeye steak! Wonderful staff too!

Great food here served in a cosy restaurant. I had 3 courses which were all really great but it was let down by the Baileys Coffee after the meal, the baileys was off I think, I didn't complain. There was a mix up on the bills were other orders were added to ours, the waitress spotted it but it took some time to resolve. Overall I've been here many times and a great meal and service can be guaranteed.

When to Kendrick’s last night a party of 8 the food and service was brilliant would highly recommend.

Really enjoyed our meal. Nicely decorated restaurant, very attentive staff good hamburger, good pork ribs, excellent tomato and garlic soup.

We visited midweek, the restaurant was clearly overbooked, we were told there was a wait for food, so ordered olives whilst we were waiting. They never arrived! I ordered the garlic & brie starter, the menu stated ‘a head of roasted garlic with warm brie…’ The slice of brie was so small it would have looked lost on a cheese board, so £8.50 was an absolute disgrace. This place clearly exists on its reputation. Would not recommend, the most disappointing restaurant we visited during our stay and totally overpriced.

A great place to eat. A wonderful friendly atmosphere with fabulous food a excellent service from great staff. A definate place to eat on your visit. I have a serious hearing deficiency and we were seated in a area beneficial to aid my hearing. The lady who was our server was delightful and provided second to none service.

Quiet on arrival. Not advised of a long wait due to only one chef. Waited over an hour for a simple breakfast bap to arrive. As a type 1 diabetic I pre injected insulin to avoid a sugar spike, instead I had to endure a bad sugar crash due to the long wait and felt ill for an hour after. Very poor and won't return

2nd visit to Kendrick’s and I have to say I do like this restaurant for food quality, staff and value. We had the half rack of ribs which was a good portion and the Blackened Salmon. Both were very tasty. Staff were attentive, just to the right level and a good atmosphere, nicely decorated. A solid 4 stars.

Booked via Open Table, but could not get in before 2000 as the restaurant was full - a good sign. Quite an eclectic menu. I had a pulled chilli beef dish with rice (please see picture). My friends had a steak and a green fish curry. I enjoyed my chilli beef, and good feedback about the green fish curry too. However the steak was described as rubbery.

We ordered steak and fajitas. Both were good sized portions and beautifully cooked. Highly recommended.

Really nice little restaurant with some great food! The fajitas were great to share and there was a great selection of local beers! The staff were really friendly and the prices were really good! Will defo be returning!

Such a gem. We arrived late and wanted to eat something. Reviews were good and not disappointing. The nachos - a highlight. The burger - good. The coleslaw - highlight. The ice cream was ok'ish The restaurant is very welcoming and nicely designed. I love the fact that they source local produce.

We regularly eat here. Tonight the panko prawns were outstanding The blackened salmon as tasty as ever However my 'medium' rump steak was sadly overcooked so I would recommend emphasising your perfect steak. Otherwise excellent as always 8/10

Loved it. The food, ambience, and staff were all great. Will definitely try and go again. The sizzling fajitas were better than I had recently in the USA, and my wife really enjoyed her blackened salmon. Even my fussy teenagers enjoyed their meals.

Restaurant in central Dartmouth with the atmosphere of a Southern USA steak/ ribs house. Recommended by a family member who lives in Dartmouth, and we were not disappointed. Busy Saturday night but the friendly helpful staff found a table for us. Good variety on the menu. We chose 'half ribs' which were sizeable portions, and great value at £17.50 each inc chips etc. Nice bottle of Appassimento for £28. Would definitely consider returning when we next come to Dartmouth

A decent place with good food and service. Not going to lie, there was nothing to scream out about but it’s a good place to visit with friends and family.

We have visited Kendrick’s at Dartmouth a couple of times now and each time have been extremely happy with the level of service and food.

Went for a meal on Wednesday 20th at 1300. Ordered our meals x4 food came x3 of course it was mine that was missing. The man said did I order a meal? I said yes. 15 mins later the meal came, no apology it was missed. When it came for the payment, we said about the problem with the meal, again no apology. Going out one of the staff said was the meal good, we told her again no apology. Kindness would have gone a long way.

Really good. Simple but full of flavour, fillet of brill special was just that. Creative menu. Service with the right touch. Just right for a rainy March evening.

Had dinner here starters were great but the burgers just had an old sat in the fridge taste so really not what we wanted, desserts were okay

Terrible. 4 burgers that were tough as old Boots and red hot as if they had been microwaved on high after an earlier precook for £80. Avoid.

We so love Kendrick’s and always visit at least once, often twice whenever we are in Dartmouth. We had a table booked for two evenings on our last visit in December, however after the first night we were so disappointed with our meal we cancelled the second night. Starter was very small and tired looking. Certainly not up to the usual standard we have come to expect. I had salmon for main course and it was bland and a little wet in the middle, not really cooked enough. My husbands chilli was edible but again sorely lacking in flavour. Hoping that things will improve going forward and we were just unlucky on this occasion. Can’t imagine going to Dartmouth and not visiting Kendrick’s On a positive the staff are lovely a real credit ti the restaurant..

One of our regular places to eat. Love it food very good and service is excellent. Been going for year's and we believe that it has been taken over by 3 directors who want to change it. Nooooo we spoke to a waitress / manageress lastnight who has been at kendricks for 20 years plus listen to her please, keep to what works it's a popular place for locals and holiday makers who come back several times a year. You don't want a business that's going to fail because you are trying to give it a new look and a new menu. The restaurant in Stoke Fleming I believe is owned by the new directors and people coming into kendricks don't like it and it clearly isn't working. Please don't change kendricks rhe food, atmosphere and staff make this place work. From 2 locals who recommend family and friends always.

Haven’t been here for a number of years snd visit most eating places from pubs to Seahorse and Angel . Saw reviews looked good which is reassuring after change of hands and as we had a Special occasion thought we would try Kendrick’s again. Put it was a special occasion when booking online and must confess as everywhere was full should have twigged that there was plenty of availability when booking day before. What can I criticise ? Not a lot really. What can I rave about? Nothing really. It was ……. A bit of a non event. Everyone pleasant, food incredibly average , and not an iota of recognition that it was a special occasion. So can’t really complain in restaurant to anyone as it was just….. ok But that is not the point. We like eating out in Dartmouth, but not just to satisfy our hunger…. We can do that for a third of the price at home. Kendrick’s was boringly ok. Went to Bayards Cove for a coffee afterwards and there was a lovely atmosphere in there as usual . So Kendrick’s I am sure you will survive on the tourists in the summer , but people who live locally ……….

We’ve been going here for many years so were a little worried when it changed hands earlier this year. We were really pleased that the new owner seemed to recognise a winning formula and pretty-much carried-on as before. Our visit this time however showed signs that the place is losing sight of its strengths. The prices are fairly high these days - not outrageous but certainly not cheap. Having paid well over £95 for a mediocre meal, you can sit and read the new branding portraying locals and Devon people in general as thickos that can’t spell and just want cheap “grub”. If that were true, they certainly wouldn’t be going to Kendrick’s! The new artwork has surely been drawn by a child and drags the look of the place right down. It’s presumably trying to be quirky, but comes-over as scruffy and amateurish. The food was so-so but maybe this was just unfortunate when we were there. We ordered a nice bottle of wine from lower down the list. The cap was unscrewed and the bottle just ‘banged down’ on the table and left. Service actually went downhill from there to be honest. Overall then, still a good foundation - it hasn’t all been lost yet but the new owners really seem to need help to understand how to take the place forward. It can’t be branded the same as a campsite cafe where this approach might be more appropriate. The location, clientele and ambience need to be totally different. My best advice is that they remind themselves why it was so successful in the past, fitting well into Dartmouth and take their lead from that. Improve the service. Get the food back to a consistent standard. Remove the rude scribbles and phrases and employ someone that understands branding and reassert the place as a really good mid-range restaurant with great food and a lovely Dartmouth ambience.

We have eaten here several times and have never been disappointed. Food is good, service is friendly, attentive and efficient. Recommend that you book in advance because it gets busy.

Very warm welcome when we walked in. Staff very friendly. 1 member of our party was gluten and dairy intolerant and they were able and more than happy to adapt the choice she made. It's very rare to find such accomodating places with the ability to do so. The food was delicious and service great. We ended up going back a second night and was not disappointed. Would highly recommend this venue. Great food and service with a smile 😃

Awesome place to eat, we all had the chicken sizzlers, superb, massive amount of chicken. Returned 4 yrs later, had the chicken sizzler again, still awesome, lovely meal. See you next year.

We stopped in unannounced, and despite clearly being rushed off their feet, they managed to squeeze the two of us in. What a find this place is. We shared a baked brie starter.. (delicious.. wish we'd had one each). My wife had a blackened Salmon main and I had a Monkfish and Prawn curry. Both delicious. We'll definitely be back next time we're down in Dartmouth.

Mexico Meets Devon - We ordered wings - nachos ribs & fish - gosh it was good served rapidly and delicious food . They even trusted us when we popped out to watch the red arrows fly past. I loved this place - only one slight niggle - tables bit squashed in.

Omg!!! We had the ribeye medium rare and it was spot on for both me and my partner. We also had the half rack of ribs to share and we polished them off too. The food was excellent and the staff were so attentive to our needs. We had a picky lil lady with us too. They were patient and understanding. We will definitely come back again when visiting the area.

Our favourite restaurant after a week in Dartmouth. The staff are great and the food and cocktails are delicious, especially the ribs, black salmon and secret garden cocktail.

Kendrick’s has a great atmosphere and always seems to be busy. The front of house services is friendly and polite. The food is excellent and the price is fairly reasonable.
