Lovely coffee and fab chocolate brownie with clotted cream. So I was chatting to the owner about the recipe and was shocked to hear that someone once left a bad review about the brownies so I thought I would set the record straight And at £2.90 for coffee and £3 for brownie thought was reasonable aswell

sometimes the best finds are not on the high street. so just up a little side street we spotted the Dart cafe. obviously there is still a covid awareness situation going on, we asked for a table for four and one was cleaned ready for us. we had planned just four coffees as fish and chips were on our " lunchtime agenda" ( it was only 11.30 when we went in). However Cream tea alert.!! scone, biggest, best and tastiest ever...jam and clotted cream...WOW....simply the best we,ve ever had. hence no fish and chips for lunch. oh and yes the coffee was also just as good. . i live 300 miles away but my partners parents live in Paignton, so this is a place they will revisit again and one day i shall too.

Looking for somewhere for lunch in Dartmouth and came across this cafe slightly off the beaten track but still in the heart of things. The scones were tasty and the biggest I’ve ever seen! Delicious with thick strawberry jam and clotted Devonshire cream. A bit of friendly banter with the owner to enhance our visit. Very good!

After a chilly morning boat trip we were desperate to stop for somewhere to eat and found this cafe located just off the busy hughstreet up a narrow cobbled street. We ordered a selection of breakfast dishes and there were no complaints, I myself was desperate for a scone but was a bit skeptical it wouldn't be made fresh as this wasn't a 'tea room' as such, but was surprised to receive a warm freshly baked scone with clotted cream and jam. I would highly recommend stopping here for a quick bite to eat when in Dartmouth.

Apologies for my late review - I forgot the name of the cafe!- We visited in September. What a great little find, not far from the harbour, close to St.Saviour's church tucked away in a corner. A very pleasant and cosy little cafe. It's small, so if it looks full from the outside, don't ask for extra table availability - what you see is what you get! The gentleman who served us turned out to be the owner and even though he was so busy and what with trying to find space for everyone (...and self distance!) , we were treated very kindly and he was very friendly and sociable. The cafe serves some delicious food and hot beverages. The fresh Crab sandwiches are superb ... as vouched by my partner and the Vegetarian choice was perfect for me. We'll certainly come back when were down this way again. (Two guys From Maidstone Kent)... thoroughly recommended.

We had a wonder around Dartmouth and found this little place up a side ally. you have to wait at the door at the moment to be seated but that's fine as the menu is there to see while you wait. Spent a long time trying to find a breakfast stop this morning and stumbled upon this little cafe - Covid precautions - hand-sanitizer on entry, details taken for track and trace and socially distanced tables. My husband and I opted for the cooked breakfast (two eggs, 2 bacon, 1 sausage, mushroom, beans and granary toast and butter. Very pleasant male server and although the breakfast took a little while to arrive, it was well worth it, everything cooked perfectly as we requested it, piping hot and very tasty. Excellent coffee as well. This cafe is definitely worth a visit.

Been here a few times when leaving Dartmouth early, leave the boat on the DA pontoon and nip in. Good quality and classic breakfast, with just the right amounts of everything. Priced very reasonably for Dartmouth. If you want lots of fancy stuff involving Avocado etc. probably not your bag, but for a more traditional approach, this is the place. Highly rated, and my favourite place for breakfast. By the way, the reviewer below who couldn't get a table for 7, I was waiting for my table at the same time and pretty sure I saw them too. A bit unreasonable to expect a table for 7 on a walk in with no reservation, during the busiest time of the year in Dartmouth and everywhere with reduced capacity due to COVID. The owner was quite polite and simply said he couldn't do it, what more is there to say. The empty table was reserved and in use 5 mins after you left!

Just a quick stop off here for a drink on our day trip to Dartmouth. Nice to find somewhere slightly off the beaten track and escape the tourist procession. And nice to not be in one of the corporate coffee chains. A nice setting on the quiet pathway by the church.Having found other places were full, here we got a table right away and were served promptly by the pleasant chap in charge. Good coffee and nice to see a good range of San Pellegrio. Cakes looked good but we just didn't need anything to eat at the time. Prices are fair. Toilets were spotless - always a big plus.

We visited this cafe a few years ago and we were very impressed. We visited Dartmouth again this week and decided to give it another try. The decor is very tired and the loos were extremely poor. We ordered 2 cheese sandwiches on granary (one with tomato and the other with onion). When they arrived they were filled with thick cut slabs of cheese and a bit of salad on the side. They were very average. Needless to say, with such a wide variety of cafes available to choose from in Dartmouth, we definitely won’t be visiting this establishment again.

Visited with my other half and 10-month-old daughter today. We opened the twin doors and pushed our buggy in and was asked to leave it by the door, sat down and ordered, the food and coffee was good, however... Another young lady with a baby came in and was literally refused a table that had a reserved sign on it, two minutes later 3 older ladies came in and he swiftly removed the reserved sign and allowed them to sit. The owner then went to the back and laughter and explained the story to his chef about how he couldn't be bothered with babies in their cafe anyway.

Surprised by previous comments. I am technically a local who lives a few miles outside of Dartmouth. We normally eat breakfast elsewhere but find our favourite haunt gets really busy and thus difficult to get seated. Tried this cafe for a change and didn’t find it overly welcoming: in fact it almost felt as if we were putting the owner out by turning up. I am lucky enough to have a holiday home in Dartmouth and come down once or twice a month and always have at least one breakfast at the Dart Café. It is great value for money and is always excellent! But to be clear Scott the owner has got it right! My partner and I always joke that the opening times state 10ish and 3ish...... that should tell you all you need to know the guy works to enable him to enjoy a great lifestyle and if he has managed to get his daily takings by 2pm, then he closes and enjoys Dartmouth with friends and family! Good luck to him and I will always go and support him and if it is one of the many events in Dartmouth then be sure to get there at 10ish as he is sure to be closed by 2pm! See you tomorrow Scott.

Have to disagree with the Trip Advisor consensus on this one. Pleasant guys (look like they should be in the building trade!) and an ok little cafe. Sandwich was fresh and pleasant but ham, egg and chips did not live up to others' reviews. Probably because we arrived at the end of the lunchtime service, there were shedloads of chips smothering the plate. They were ok but the ham was tasteless and eggs were greasy thus disappointing. Just an "average" from us.

We popped in here for a quick coffee whilst it was raining but glad that we did. The cafe is quite small but the service was friendly. I had a lovely latte here.

Visited for tea and cake. The cafe is small and friendly; the chaps working there are full of banter. Is dog friendly and seemed popular with locals which always says something. Tea and tea cake was a winner.

I work locally just a few doors down the road in a local opticians and frequent this lovely little cafe fairly often for lunch. I usually get a sandwich from their deli counter and they keep me coming back. I have tried a number of different options and none of them have disappointed. In the winter I especially like their soup of the day which is very well priced. I love the Mediterranean counter and often purchase a pot of Dolmades. If you're in the area I would recommend going here for lunch, you will be glad you did

We realise that this restaurant cannot provide a large menu especially during the autumn /winter but on our evening the fish choice was not on (replaced with a lazy prawn dish) and out of two desserts the crumble was also not available! Feel this is lazy as there is so much fish available locally and the excuses to not provide an apple crumble is in fact rather lazy from the kitchen. If you only want to offer pizzas and burgers, fine but don’t disappoint people with omissions.

We stayed here for close location to the polar Express train ride, excellent location, excellent staff service, also had a meal which was great food and breakfast, would definitely recommend and would stay again. Thank you.

My family and I had a fantastic and reasonably priced meal at the Imperial on Saturday. The food was tasty, plentiful and well presented - and the young waitress who served us was smiley and friendly. Will definitely return.

Dropped in for a quick lunch. Expensive for what it is. For example a small piece of frittata and a very small salad for nine ounces odd. Went home and had toast to supplement. Disappointing as had heard good things.
