Limited opening times, No food so asked out of curtesy if grandson could eat a snack. Was told no but to eat outside in the garden which had a closed sign on the gate, so had eat in the smoking area. Didn't feel particularly welcome. No alternative snack was offered. Wasn't very accommodating, we were staying local and would have returned for a meal but they said closed Monday and Tuesday and we would need to book if wanted to return. I would advise anyone to give this pub a a miss as there are much better pubs in the area

Looked at the reviews online & made an online booking for Sunday lunch - no response. Walked there (40 minutes from Hope Cove). Unfortunately, it was a relatively new landlord without a chef, so no food. Difficult to give a star rating which is why I've given 3

We have just been to the pizza and burger evening at the old inn which we are told is under new management. Jo and Ray were very welcoming, and the food was really lovely, the stone baked pizza was fantastic and the kid’s burger and halloumi burger were really good. They have a family area tucked round passed the bar and a restaurant area, as well. Would highly recommend for great pub food without being rushed.

Our third visit to the Old Inn in the last year and missed the proprietor and his G+Ts this time as he was poorly, but dinner was great. The food is what I would describe as very decent pub food. It is well-prepared, good value for money and the service is excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed the fish and chips and the crumble. Very drinkable Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. We were in the area for a wedding last summer and guests who stayed here were very pleased. I can recommend it without hesitation.

We ate here 4 times during a week's holiday in Malborough - lovely welcoming staff and locals, great food and well kept beer. The Sunday lunch (roast beef followed by apple crumble) was exceptional, and we also enjoyed the steak pie, curry and haddock later in the week. This is a fabulous little pub. The drinks are reasonable compared to some of the Rip Off joints. The Star of the show is the Food which is totally Outstanding. The tables are packed every night & booking is Essential. I had the Mushrooms on Sourdough Toast Starter. Absolutely Delicious. Followed by the Seafood Chowder which was Epic. My wife had the Steak & Guinness pie with Mash peas & Gravy. She Loved it (A great relief from chips with everything). My son had the Bacon Cheeseburger which was about a Foot High. He rated it as one of the best he’s ever had. We have booked again for two nights time. The staff are all very pretty young girls who do an Excellent Job.

A great pub- of all the restaurants we visited in Salcombe this was the best value for money. Drinks were reasonably priced compared to many places, as was the food. We could see why there were a lot of locals eating and drinking here- the place was the busiest we went to on an evening- every table booked and it was only a Wednesday. We had garlic mushrooms and garlic bread to start which was a good size and very tasty. For mains we had a pizza, Haddock and the steak and ale pie. All were very very good! Visited twice during family stay in Malborough. We initially went as almost next door to our holiday cottage and didn’t want the hassle of driving down anymore lanes. Enjoyed it so much we went back Firstly the COVID thing ..... the team work really hard here on cleanliness. Tables well spaced out. We witnessed all tables being cleaned between groups and the staff clean down the loo between each user ( is that the right word?) . As someone still wiping the groceries down the wife felt very safe Important stuff - grub, beer and wine. A fairly short and standard pub menu. All well cooked clearly to order. Few daily specials ( crab ravioli was lovely) . Good value and the puddings are proper homemade. We aren’t usually a pudding family but on the second visit we skipped starters to ensure plenty of space for amazing sticky toffee pud n baileys cheesecake. Finally the welcome - genuine friendly warmth from all the staff and locals who we met. I made a rather cheeky request which I won’t set them up for any repeat requests but thank you again. Good luck with the business in this tricky year and thanks again for two great nights out

As restaurants have been forced to close due to the current difficulties with Covid-19, this pub are now offering a takeaway service. We decided to go for the Steak and Guinness pie, which was packed well, served with plenty of mash and vegetables and was absolutely delicious. Very tasty and beautifully tender meat and friendly service on order and collection. Would definitely recommend as a pick me up and instant comfort during these troubling times.

Delightful village pub, with one of the best tasting pies I’ve had in a long, long time. Good choice of drinks well presented, friendly service & very clean loos. This pub is run by a couple who clearly care about their business. Highly recommend

Just wanted to say thank you for such a wonderful and warm welcome to your lovely pub. We enjoyed a delicious meal for two...excellent fish and chips, pudding and wine for an amazing £34! The dog even got sausages! We couldn’t have asked for more friendly hosts...so friendly! We are only down for the weekend but will visit again. Thoroughly recommend.

Visited The Old Inn last weekend whilst camping nearby and received a great welcome. Happy for the two dogs to come in (in fact they said it was almost compulsory). The beer was excellent and the food was lovely and well priced. We'll be back next time we visit the area.

Following the reviews on trip advisor we went in here one rainy night for pie and mash !! Wow ! Great place and fab food ! The staff were really welcoming and it was so cosy ! We had the steak & Guiness pie with mash & the lamb and veg pie with mustard mash, plus a pint each for the amazing price of 20 quid ! This is on a Wednesday night special ! Totally loved everything about the place and wished we had found it sooner ! Dog treats and fuss for the dogs in abundance too !! Highly recommended !

Staying in a cottage for the week it was lovely to have a local pub, with delicious home cooked food and friendly landlord, staff and locals. Sunday lunch was amazing from the roasties to the delicious gravy. Pie night was also a must, difficult to chose what to have from the choice but steak and Guinness was outstanding. Thanks to all at the old inn ,definitely a great part of our holiday.

Though the Old Inn is our local we haven't had Sunday Lunch there in ages. We went last Sunday and the whole thing was brilliant. Lovely tasty food, huge portions and great service. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Visited here for the first time last night as we were staying in a cottage nearby. It was such a fabulous find. The menu is excellent with something for everyone. I had lasagne and my partner had steak pie. We had cheesecake for dessert. Everything was gorgeous. The service was outstanding. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by someone behind the bar even though it was very busy. Even the chef/owner came out to check that everyone was happy. Once again tonight we decided not to go into Salcombe but to dine here instead. The sea food platter and banoffee pie were outstanding. Again fantastic service. Our dog was also made to feel so welcome and given a treat each night by the owner.

Our family was made to feel very welcome in this local’s pub. Decent standard of food with a lot of variety, little ones happy so I’m happy! Small car park at the back is handy since parking is a pain in this small village.
