Thoroughly recommend Lyndale Tea Rooms for a refreshment pitstop if you are in Lynmouth. We had two delicious Choca Mocha's, one being decaf, and they are fabulous. The owner said it's her own blend of coffee beans and chocolate. We had a cream SCONE between us, which was still warm, and came with Tiptree jam and Rodda cream. That went down a treat too. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We visited last week - family of 6 with our four children (10, 8, 6 and 2) it was a lovely sunny day so the seating was welcomed situated in a lovely sunny spot before (or after like us) taking a trip on the cliff railway. The ice creams were really reasonably priced and the flavour selection was fantastic. My husband had the cappuccino crunch and said it was the best ice cream he’s ever had - we live in a tourist destination so have tried our fair share of ice creams so this was high praise from him! There was a great selection of other sweet treats available too. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in Lynton or Lynmouth!

Started to worry when the bar area smelled of dogs and fish. The restaurant was cold and tired. The tables in need of a coat of varnish. The room musty smelling. I do understand it's a listed building, but it could be so much better with nice candles/flowers I had viewed some excellent food photos on the website, unfortunately this is not how it is....The staff were uninterested and didn't know anything about the wines that they served. A smile and a warm welcome would not go a miss. The menu is the restaurant is slightly different to on line. Some of the same dishes, but in a more basic format without the extra touches that made it stand out. My terrine was starting to curl up at the end and the foccacia? a peice of toast. The cravettes were overcooked and difficult to peel, mushy at best. The Thai chicken was boiled chicken thigh, that was grey and tasteless. Even the feta salad was bland due to the ice cold tomatoes, cut into large chunks. The Dover sole had the consistency on wet tissue, completely overcooked and we gave up eating it as it wouldn't come off the bone. The fish and chips and the burger were average. Overall, a special night out it wasn't and over priced. The position overlooking the sea was lovely, though, but feel they have probably become complacent due to other good reviews, location and being listed.

My sister and I stumbled upon The Vanilla Pod in Lynton, on our one night stay in November 2024. To say we were delighted with all aspects of our supper at The Vanilla Pod, is an understatement. We were absolutely thrilled with the service that we received, and most importantly the DELICIOUS (and well-presented) array of mezze dishes that we ordered. The ambience was nice, and the owner/chef was incredibly accommodating. Thank you so much. Would highly recommend!

Visited Lynton and Lynmouth today. After looking around shops in both areas popped in Esplanade fish bar in Lynmouth for some traditional fish and chips. On entering, our furry friend Vinnie was offered a dog treat by a very friendly staff member. You can eat in or take away,we choose to eat in. We ordered cod and chips, cooked fresh. Within 5 minutes of ordering our order arrived. A lovely tasty crispy batter and thick flaky cod with a decent portion of chips . We've been to many seaside chippies on our travels in the UK, can honestly say this rates high up there. Lovely setting , very polite staff ,clean and fitted out inside nicely but most of all top end fish and chips. Highly recommend a visit.

Just returned from our first stay at the Rockford Inn. It was a family get together and we all had a great time. We were very well looked after by Paul, Stella and James. Nothing was too much trouble for them and the atmosphere was wonderful. The choice of food was good, freshly prepared and very tasty. The rooms were cosy and comfortable, clean and tidy. The locally brewed real ale was very nice indeed. The location is ideally suited for walks in lovely countryside. We left being well relaxed and with lots of happy memories. Will we return? Yes of course we will!! Eddie Phillips

Wow! What a pity that I found this on our last night... it was outstanding. I had the Sea Shanty and it was an amazing meal. Well priced and a good atmosphere with comfortable chairs. Staff were very helpful and service was quick. A "do not miss" place for dinner.

We stopped here to grab a breakfast before we visited Watersmeet and the staff were so kind and offered us drinks while we waited. The bacon rolls and sandwiches were lovely and next time we visit we will definitely be coming back!
