The best restaurants in Mendip South West

1.after not having breakfast because I was excited to having our special anniversary lunch. So disappointed!!It was an awful veggie meal. Didn’t eat my bruschetta.Slice of bread with beef chopped tomatoes. Main meal worse. A truffle resotto. A few mushrooms and rice over cooked with that test of vegetables oil. Could not eat it awful.

Lovely staff, classic food and warm vibe

Birthday Girl, the occasion was a birthday treat for a special lady. We were looked after by Vas the waiter and nothing was to much trouble, his knowledge on the food on the menu was very helpful. The restaurant was buzzing with excitement. We will definitely come back and thanks for a night to remember.

No salad on a Monday lunchtime? I wanted a chicken caesar salad but ended up with a tuna melt panini instead which was tasty enough but nothing special. Staff were ok service pretty quick but wouldn't rush back

Went for a meal with friends (6 of us in total) after a busy day. Food when it eventually came was very good. However the service was appallingly slow. We had to ask at least 4 times to place our order for main courses, having waited for at least 15 minutes for our initial drinks to arrive. We had been in the restaurant for an hour and a quarter before our orders were taken! After our meal, we again had to ask repeatedly for the bill. Eventually we gave up and went up to the till to pay, only to have to wait another 5 minutes for them to work it out. Very disappointing, clearly understaffed. A meal out shouldn’t take 3 and a quarter hours.

Yummy food, quick service and clean cafe! Very cosy vibes with a wise range of seating. I had french toast and breakfast burger ans it was delicious!!

Guys , constructive criticism here. If you are really a craft beer bar then be one. Half hearted at best. I had the house IPA and it was undrinkable. Can choice was incredibly disappointing. I’ve been in this scene for a long time, just decide what you want to be because you are not craft.

Recommended by a friend and Colleague to go here for a Sunday Roast. We have been a couple of times in the summer and I must say this place is an all rounder. Fantastic Sunday Roasts with an array of seperate options if you have children or fussy family members. The two hosts were welcoming and made us feel comfortable the minute we entered with a contagious smile and banter. We were served by a young waitress who was polite and patient whilst she took our order. We all tried different variations of the roast options that were available and the food was cooked to perfection. Hats off to Saff & the Kitchen Team 👏 Only one preference would be the ability to have stuffing with my roast but in hindsight the portion was more than satisfying that I probably couldn't have fit it in.

Nice Sunday lunch but very limited dessert choice, the only dessert available was cherry Eaton mess or ice cream everything else had run out. I liked the sound of cherry Eaton mess which I ordered but when it was delivered it was strawberry, no sign of cherries so I sent it back. Main course was nice though.

The crown is great for food or just grabbing a drink. The staff are always super friendly and helpful - would definitely recommend

Arrived in Mells for first time and spotted cafe which we entered immediately after a lengthy journey. Cafe was due to close in 15 minutes so we placed our order with the young assistants. However the owner came in from the post office and rudely instructed us and his assistants that we would have to have a take away due to it closing. We still had 15 minutes! So we went outside on a cold day to drink our coffee. Another group of people arrived shortly after and managed to get served without the boss knowing. They also came outside. The boss returned looked outside and stared at me like daggers as though it was all my fault his closing time might be slightly delayed. I didn’t respond. He then went back next door grabbed the doormat and started beating it vehemently against the wall of the shop with dust flying everywhere. Not a good first impression of Wells!

Best english breakfast I have ever had, including the Tea, I recommend this cafe

I love their curries. Great food and great service. But in Oct 24, I fancied fish and chips. I picked it up at 5pm on Saturday and was disappointed with the chips. They tasted like they were lunchtime leftovers. On that basis, 3 stars for food.

Good afternoon , just want to give some feedback to our disappointing visit to Passeys today . We booked for breakfast and everyone in our group agreed that half the breakfast was cold or warm at the best . One breakfast had a hair in it also . This is not good at all for the premium price charged . We have been several times before as a group of six or less with no problems. I wanted to discuss with the lady serving but one of our group did not want to cause a scene so we just paid and left . This used to be our go to place on Sunday morning . It’s the most expensive breakfast in Portobello, and the quality of food does not now justify the price . We won’t be back .

This is the second time I have visited and have been disappointed with the service. I was with my disabled family member who is a wheelchair user, I didn’t find the service great as we seemed to have been forgotten on many occasion. I tried to wave to get staff attention despite there being 3 FOH and 2 chef, not one person noticed. This led me to leave, and weren’t be coming back to this place again.
