Indian Ocean in Mendip

Delicious food, pricier than I'm used to, did wonder if I'd paid for another table after leaving lol, but the food was quality.

Staying in the local area for a few days. Drove past it a few times so decided to order a meal for collection. Ordering online was easy. Great communication via email on when to collect. Popped in 30 minutes later. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The food... wow! Very good and plenty of it. It was excellent value for money. Be warned, the portion sizes are generous! Overall, I'd heartily recommend it 🙂

All of the food was spot on apart from the popadoms they were over cooked and were starting to taste burnt in the middle of them

Always a great curry from Indian Ocean. The lamb madras is fantastic, the meat is so tender. Food always comes on time and prettt hot, friendly delivery and no issues with orders. Recommend 👌

Quality not brilliant sadly. The veg byriani sauce quite watery, the chicken in the chicken tikka masala pretty tough but also a strange unpleasant taste compared to normal home cooked chicken. Can’t work out why some chicken in some take away curries tastes similar? is it rehydrated or just poor quality/ cheap? Not sure, but it’s really not great especially when getting a meal like this is a ‘treat’..Better quality ingredients would be welcome. Potato side dish & rice ok.

Delivered Late and not very warm

Very disappointing, ordered well in advance. Called to be told it is running late, which I obviously knew because I was phoning to say it was late! A real shame as I would have recommended them otherwise.

Visited here last weekend with my son for a takeaway. Delicious food. Can fully recommend the paneer Jalfrezi and Lamb Tikka Shashilick. Decent price as well.

First impression when arriving is the car park and garden is a bit tatty and untidy. Weeds everywhere and lawn and patio not looked after. When entering, the environment is nice, clean and airy, so looking better. The dining area also very nice looking and bright and clean. The table service was indifferent. I ordered a Kingfisher beer and a Cobra was brought to the table. The food was also disappointing. There are no skills in the kitchen on a Saturday (maybe they have a different cook on other days). The Chicken Tikka starter was dull tasting, and the chicken was pre-cooked before going into the tandoor, so it was dry and tasteless - not tender as juicy as it should be. The main meals were also nice on presentation, however taste was unbalanced and overpowering. The Chicken Tikka Masala was far too sweet, and the Chicken Dhansak was not pleasant at all - like eating a pot of Caribbean pepper sauce (much too hot), and not sweet and sour. The naan bread was good.

First time ordering and certainly won't be the last. The food was hot and the flavours were amazing. Thank you for a great meal 😋

Passed this restaurant and decided to pop in for takeaway. Had a fantastic curry which was good value. Recommend the Jalfrezi and Peshwari Naan.

Food delivered over an hour late and no compensation. Food barely warm

I order from this place quite often and it’s usually great. The last time I ordered there was a problem with the driver trying to find the address, I thought that was a one off. I ordered again yesterday at 18:05. At 18:56 I called the restaurant to ask where the food is as the tracker said delivered. I was told that they had called me over 15 times and I hadn’t picked up…. Why would I order food and leave you to ring me that many times? The name and number on the system wasn’t even mine, so I definitely had no calls from them. I was then told the driver would ring me, 15 mins later he did, he said he was outside my address, he wasn’t. After talking on the phone for a few mins I went to look for him and he was half way down the town street… so not outside my address like he said. The food was then rubbery and cold. Very disappointed especially because this usually is one of the best Indians I’ve ordered. I doubt I will order again

I’ve ordered from this place many times and never had a problem, this is now the second time the driver has “ rang “ me multiple times, not found the address etc. The food was cold and was very disappointing. The food is usually great but I doubt I will order from this place again which is a shame

It was late but I had an update and was well worth the slight delay

I ordered lamb stating 1 pepper. The food was so spicy that it was unedible. My girlfriend also tried it but she couldn't eat it either. Reported this and in response I was served some leftover mint sauce that was left over from the starter. No further questions. Soon after, we paid and left. Ridiculous price for what we had! Reply to administrator: Thanks for the response, we previously reported that the food was too spicy and were given the rest of the mint sauce to extinguish, no other alternative! Even during payment they didn't come back to it, And no, we won't come back either.

First time for Shashlik. ......nice food, but a tad on the expensive side

Was told on the app that my food was being delivered at 8:30, then it took till 8:45 for the app to say that it had been delivered when in fact it didn’t turn up till 9:00!?

Food was nice but the wait was too long!

Definitely worth the wait! Although arriving late, the food was absolutely amazing- such rich and exquisite flavours. If it’s a choice between fast delivery and quality, I would choose the latter every time!

Amazing food- clearly cooked with real care and attention.

Korma too sweet only 3 pieces of chicken large so had no flavour, the paratha was brown and tasted like wheat, the cheese balls were inedible and the coconut rice had onion in it, I cannot eat onion and it was not mentioned on the menu!

Lovely food and great service for delivery. Only little issue was the nan was a bit burnt, but the rest made up for it.

Popped in for a takeaway, really impressed so much so we plan to go back to eat in. Next to a river, tables outside to enjoy a drink. Owner really nice, chatty. Staff seemed pleasent. Restaurant looked very swish. Now the food.. Generous size portions. I had enough for two meals. Full of flavour. Resonable price for plenty of tasty food.

This used to be the best place, sadly it’s gone dramatically downhill. The meat had a very bad taste to it, all the food was cold and tasted very bland. Sadly won’t be ordering from here again, as this wasn’t the first poor experience, gone downhill last few orders.

We ordered takeaway from this restaurant recently. The food was poor, especially considering the price. To give a customer black Nan bread is unacceptable. It was inedible. The food was oily and salty. One of the worst Indian meals we’ve had.

Can't fault the food at all...it was absolutely delicious and thankfully still warm when we got to eat it!! Rang restaurant direct to order but was told I had to order online which was fine but, of course, then had to pay a £3.50 delivery charge!! Then had no option to pay by card online so had to call restaurant back to pay!! Delivery came quite quick but was missing 1 out of 4 items ordered!! Also expected free papadoms (as noted on leaflet) but when rang re missing dish was told that was for collection only (not clear at all on leaflet!!) Missing dish did arrive fairly quick but we had hoped they might throw in a few papadoms for our inconvenience...but no!! All in all not a great experience...thank goodness the food made up for the poor service.

First time trying delivery to Shepton from this restaurant and was worried about delivery times etc. Turns out delivered within the allocated time and the food was hot and delicious. Each curry had a varied flavour rather than all just being hot or mild. Will definitely order again.

As a regular to Indian Ocean I can assure you the food, service and overall feel is A-mazing! They do a £15 deal on a Wednesday where you get a starter,main,side and rice/nan(amazing value) and every single part of the meal is quality. There is a huge amount of choice as well. Incredible taste and presentation. They even give you a takeaway box if you have leftovers. Can't fault them at all. Also after the meal we got offered a free shot of Baileys and a small chocolate! As always will be back. Highly recommended.

We found the sauces undercooked. Crunchy onion, but not in a good way. Raita was really sweet too. Not terrible, but we won’t be ordering from there again

Ordered food via justeat at 1820 (advertised as 30 to 40 min delivery time) food then arrived at 8pm!! Contacted restaurant who apologised and suggested I left them my contact details to get 1 free curry with my next order. Food arrived luke warm. Totally unhappy. Avoid.

ordered at 6.30pm was ment to arrive at 7.05-7.25. Restaurant was rude when we called to check where our order was. Was told no order had been placed and they refused to take my order number. Just kept asking us what we actually ordered then told us it was 10 minutes away. This was an hour late at this point. No apology from restaurant at all. Didn't arrive until 8.40pm. Food arrived cold tasted disgusting. And there was 2 poppadoms missing from my order that I've paid for.

Staying in Glastonbury for the Frost Fayre and decided to revisit Indian Ocean again last sunday. Thoroughly enjoyed our sunday banquet and as before the service and food was excellent. Thanks again. Hope to be back soon.

I was visiting my brother who lives nearby. He'd never been here, but we decided to give it a try. I'm glad we did, really friendly and helpful guy behind the counter. We were catering for vegans and there was plenty on the menu for all of us. Food was delicious, especially Jimi Bum-bum puri starter - unusual name but really delicious and something I've never seen in other places. My brother is definitely planning to go back

The website says it has been delivered but we still have not received it.
