Hartleys Kitchen in Mendip

What a lovely, friendly place to eat. We both had the Fridays Haddock and Chips. Without doubt probably the best we have had in our lives.

One of the best English breakfasts around - good quality sausages, eggs how you like them and crispy hash browns, perfect!

Fab celeriac and stilton soup with a freshly baked beautiful bread roll. Large portion of Brisket in a lovely sauce, with loads of small roast spuds and a large dish of 6 different veggies.... i could not finish it !! Shortcake biscuit for pudding... is HUGE couldn't finish that either !!.... Paul's menu is quirky, original freshly cooked, and healthy..... I will be back very soon....

An afternoon tea experience for 4 of us as a special treat for friends. Beautifully fresh selection of finger sandwiches followed by a selection of fresh cream cakes and scones. Clean plates all around. This is the 3rd time we've had afternoon tea at Hartley's and it has been 5* every time.

Six of us long term friends had Sunday lunch at Hartleys today each closing a different selection from the menu. Our meals without question were superb with excellent and attentive table service . The quality of the food and the dining experience keeps us coming back, great value, can highly recommend.

Food was hit and miss. Staff didn’t seem to care about the miss. My lamb tagine was good but the side “Mediterranean” salad was very wilted and brown and I did not eat it. I pointed out to the server who said she would mention to the cook but that was it.

Absolutely amazing hidden gem! Have driven past this place so many times without really noticing it, and then tried it with friends and our children on the off chance of a much needed breakfast!

Hartley's Kitchen had been recommended to me, I don't see why. I waited 30mins before my order was taken, I only wanted a drink! Service was unfriendly and there was a dog wandering around the place (bad hygiene)
