One of the best English breakfasts around - good quality sausages, eggs how you like them and crispy hash browns, perfect!

Fab celeriac and stilton soup with a freshly baked beautiful bread roll. Large portion of Brisket in a lovely sauce, with loads of small roast spuds and a large dish of 6 different veggies.... i could not finish it !! Shortcake biscuit for pudding... is HUGE couldn't finish that either !!.... Paul's menu is quirky, original freshly cooked, and healthy..... I will be back very soon....

An afternoon tea experience for 4 of us as a special treat for friends. Beautifully fresh selection of finger sandwiches followed by a selection of fresh cream cakes and scones. Clean plates all around. This is the 3rd time we've had afternoon tea at Hartley's and it has been 5* every time.

Six of us long term friends had Sunday lunch at Hartleys today each closing a different selection from the menu. Our meals without question were superb with excellent and attentive table service . The quality of the food and the dining experience keeps us coming back, great value, can highly recommend.

Thank you Hartleys. My phone booking with Paul at short notice enabled our large (20) motorcycle group to be seated, and the conversation came over as nothing would be a problem for the following morning. We arrived to be warmly greeted by Paul and all served lovely Sunday breakfasts. Cannot fault the service, attentive staff and the overal atmosphere. Obviously a cafe owner with business sense, as we all put orders in and the friendly waiting staff were efficient at getting us seated and fed, with regular coffee top ups. Other dietary requirements were met by some of our group too. A fantastic and convenient refreshment stop if travelling around the Mendips, Cheddar, Shepton etc. Thank you.

Well what can l say what a little Gem the food is always tasty lots of it hot and it’s our go to place. The team are always very professional and personal and friendly. Could not be more helpful. The hardest thing is choosing on the menu all homemade the Roast are exceptional. Highly recommend ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

worst place i think i’ve been to in my years of going to places for food, the young girls who served me didn’t know how to smile was very rude towards me and my husband my food was cold the girls didn’t check to see if the food was okay, the girls did not seem like they had a clue what they was doing, i will never be back here again unless they put there food standards up and there stuff !!

My husband and I were on our way back from Bristol Airport and in need of a coffee. We found Hartley's on route home and thought we were stopping just for a coffee and some cake, that was until we saw the roasts. Wonderful meal and gluten free, a bonus. The deserts are amazing. Will definitely be visiting again

Re- read the reviews and then double checked we went to the same cafe?!? Arrived just before 3 for tea and cakes for 4. Big disappointment. Welcome was mixed first saying the kitchen was closed and then when said what we wanted said they had nearly run out of cakes? Nothing on display to tempt us, offered flapjacks, millionaire’s shortcake or a couple of desserts. And then as an afterthought,toasted tea cake. You have to prebook an afternoon tea. Presentation of desserts and beverages nice when they came though the table mats were “spotty” and table flowers half wilted. Had intended to use this for our afternoon stop for the rest of our week’s stay nearby. Won’t bother!

Stopped here for breakfast on a wet and windy Saturday morning. Very friendly and warm welcome as we walked in. Lot's of choice on the meun and very nice coffee. The breakfast was very tasty and care was taken on the presentation. Very good value for money will be going back for a Sunday roast in the near future

Something of a local secret full of enthusiastic regulars. Every dish on the surprisingly varied menu made with love and care. Consistent quality. Great for breakfast and lunch. They also do themed evenings which are fun. Great service and Paul the owner is always on hand.. The more I go the more I enjoy myself - you feel very much at home in the warm relaxed unpretentious atmosphere. Great wine list with some bargains.

Visited Sunday morning for breakfast as we were staying at The Little Shire. Service was warm and friendly from the moment we walked through the door. We had Eggs Benedict and Sausage Sandwiches and all were served hot and tasty. Would highly recommend.

I just love Hartley's! Always wonderful menus no matter what time of day that you want to eat. Menu's are changed every 4 weeks so it never gets boring. This is the most welcoming place to eat that I have ever been into. All staff and the owners bend over backwards to get you what you want and accommodate you with allergies etc. I just love popping in for Eggs Floradict while I am waiting for my dog to be groomed just across the courtyard. You really must give it a try if you want more than standard cafe food with chips which some people love and good on them but the standards here are very much higher and diverse with as much local produce as they can use. You can also ring up 48 hours before and purchase single portion meals to take away and at a fiver a meal would be excellent for the older generation and young and busy alike.

Thanks to the team headed by Paul and Lynda for providing a delicious and filling afternoon tea to celebrate my daughters birthday. We had to bring the time forward into their busy lunchtime period and there was a last minute addition to the group. Both of these were accommodated without issue. We arrived on a Saturday morning were made very welcome by Paul Hartley and his very friendly staff, and a very friendly Labrador Bentley. Breakfast arrived after a short wait , in the meantime we enjoyed our coffee and fruit juices. My wife enjoyed a croissant with fruit, my daughter had a bacon sandwich with her fruit juice while I had a more modest breakfast dictated by diet of porridge with raspberry and some golden syrup, which was a bit naughty but delicious. Having visited this establishment on many occasions we have no hesitation in recommending it very strongly, their lunches are great as well

We visited today with our son and daughter in law, they were able to squeeze us in as we only booked earlier in the day. We had to sit up at the bar which wasn't the best place but the lovely staff made up for it. We all enjoyed our breakfasts and the coffee was topped up on a regualr basis and was very good.

We have become regulars to Hartley's and have never been disappointed. They have a terrific range of menu items for their all day breakfast, portions are generous and food freshly prepared so you have to expect to be a little patient. Bottomless cup of coffee to go with that as well. Lunch and roasts are a treat, especially in the winter with a lovely log fire burning. The staff are happy and so friendly and the owner Paul is a larger than life character and always smiling. When the family come to visit its always Hartleys they want to go to.

This place is a must. I’ve eaten here for breakfast and lunch now and cannot fault the food. They use good produce and there’s a great variety on the menu. The service is excellent and the staff are very friendly. Look forward to trying out more dishes on future visits.

Called in for breakfast this morning and were delighted by all aspects. Lovely building, helpful friendly staff, great coffee and superb food; all reasonably priced. I had my heart set on the traditional full English, but was tempted by the ‘special’ du jour of Nasi Goreng, so the owner kindly arranged for the kitchen to provide a sample/taster dish. It was excellent; next time I visit I’ll probably try the daily special. Highly recommended.

Always a friendly welcome on arrival, and an excellent selection on the menu, definitely worth checking for the special of the day. Tasty food, plenty of it and great value for money.

Can't fault this place. The industrial area seems odd to have such a superb restaurant but don't let this put you off. It's superb.

I went with my family for Sunday lunch on a recommendation from a work colleague. I wished I hadn't bothered. Very starey chatting under their breath young waitress, made me feel uncomfortable, mediocre food except for the dry over cooked in fact burnt yorkshire pudding and an overly long wait for our veg which wouldn't have been a problem if the bothered to tell us.

But the best breakfast out, eating a delicious, beautifully prepared and presented, tasty meal. Mind you having been there for lunches as well please include that meal as well. A wide choice for either of these meals from light to more hearty are available. A tremendously friendly environment , warm log fire in winter, staff always attentive to your needs , and if you are fortunate enough a warm meeting from the friendly Labrador Bentley. Paul and Linda Hartley have done a great job here.

Ate here a few times unusal place to find a cafe We was very surprised on the quality of the food and service. Being on an industrial estate on rookery farm in Binegar you would expect a truckers or workman cafe. This is neither the lay out is a uper class cafe bit more of a restaurant I have had a few meals here and had different choices and all was very nice all freshly made and served with a lovely presentation. This is ar the top of any restaurant I've eaten in around the area. No matter what meal you order will love it all the family rave about the place. The cake selection is endless. Reasonably price excellent food and service. A must to try would I go again yes do I like the food yes is the service great yes all in all excellent all round.

Group of about twenty of us had our Christmas lunch here this year (in early December!).

We had lunch here with a large group of friends. The food was really excellent! The best prawn cocktail I have ever had, followed by plaice, which was beautifully cooked WITH NO SKIN! The vegetables were varied and fresh. All was very well served by the staff. The tables are a bit basic as were the seats.- take a cushion and there will be no problem. Drinks are fairly priced, but you will be charged for tap water. All in all I would recommend this place and go again if I was in the area.

My first visit although it's only just up the road, and I wasn't disappointed. Nicely busy and buzzy, fantastic choice of all-day breakfasts (until 4pm I think, when they close) plus lots of other full cooked meals and delicious sounding desserts. Very reasonable prices. Our hot drinks arrived quickly and we didn't mind waiting for our "full English" as they were busy. Very nicely cooked, with toast and lots of butter. Will definitely be going again.

A fellow car fanatic invited us to meet him at this wonderful little restaurant and 'Im so glad they did! The lay out is simple and welcoming, the service was friendly and attentive, the manager was always around offering humour, advise and generally keeping a watchful and supportive eye on things. The food was very reasonably priced and freshly cooked- many dishes cooked by the manager himself, such as the delicious fruit terrine. It truly had a continental feel, like the roadside restaurants in France where all the locals go as they know the best places to eat. A wonderful happy buzz filled the place and time shot by.

My husband and I took his cousin to Hartleys for lunch, the food was wonderful. We all ordered something different but only waited 15 minutes and the food all arrived at the same time, our coffees were topped up regularly at no extra charge, Paul the owner I believe was very friendly and chatty. We found room for dessert and I had the raspberry croissant with white chocolate custard and it was divine... when the bill arrived I was amazed at the value for money... thank you Paul and team for restoring our faith in Somerset cooking and hospitality...
