Spice Lounge in Mendip

Went for a meal with friends (6 of us in total) after a busy day. Food when it eventually came was very good. However the service was appallingly slow. We had to ask at least 4 times to place our order for main courses, having waited for at least 15 minutes for our initial drinks to arrive. We had been in the restaurant for an hour and a quarter before our orders were taken! After our meal, we again had to ask repeatedly for the bill. Eventually we gave up and went up to the till to pay, only to have to wait another 5 minutes for them to work it out. Very disappointing, clearly understaffed. A meal out shouldn’t take 3 and a quarter hours.

Absolutely brilliant meal once again. Cannot recommend highly enough. Delicious food and fantastic service. We will be back!

A group of 7 of us needed dinner together on a Sunday night. We were welcomed warmly and all our dietary needs (many!) and the complexity of 7 orders was handled perfectly. The bill was also very reasonable. The kind addition of a fan on a hot evening was really nice. Highly recommended

This was my 4th visit to this lovely restaurant , Jay and his team were very welcoming and looked after us x10 altogether on a busy night , the food was amazing as always , the starters arrived sizzling and smelling great , the mains and rice were good sized portions and the flavours' great , this restaurant never fails on quality and value the staff also brought me out a chocolate birthday cake which was very nice of them, will definitely be coming back again and again , thank you Jay and staff for a great night

We really enjoyed the food and the service from Jay. Service wasn't forced and we felt we had time to enjoy the tasty curries including the Jaipuri Chicken and the Spice Lounge Jalfrezi special. Loved it.

Aaah, the Spice Lounge. What a delicious and well priced Indian restaurant! This was me and my son's third visit here, and is our annual ritual for his birthday. I had a stroke (bleed on the brain) 10 months ago and was very lucky to survive. I have full cognition and memory, but the dizziness appears permanent. Jay, our waiter, was patient and attentive, and made me feel welcomed. The food was so delicious and my vegetarian son was so happy and full. The naan was tasty and I enjoyed my chicken curry. We'll be back, Jay, we'll be back. Next tim with my husband. 5/5 for food and 10/5 for service.

We had a lovely meal and the service was great, it was a shame it was so quiet. Nevertheless I have to say it was one of the best Indian meals we have had recently.

We had a meal here on Feb 29th with great service from manager Ayan who was happy to recommend dishes and happily joined in our Leap Year hilarity. The food was good and we shared a good Spanish Sauvignon which stood up to the flavours.

In a competitive market (2 other Indian restaurants in the same street) the Spice Lounge always stands out both for the quality of the food and the competitive pricing. It has become my first choice in Stroud for both takeaway and sit-down Indian meals. The service is prompt and knowledgeable but not too obtrusive. Highly recommended.

Well what can I say , from the moment we entered this lovely restaurant until the time we left it was great , Ayman and his staff were polite and welcoming , I was with two other friends and we decided to go for the Banquet £14.95 on Wednesday and Sunday So it was a Wednesday night Starter , Main , Side and a rice or Naan but you could mix these up if you wanted ( Side or Naan ) Mixed Kebab starter ( as good as anywhere I have had before ) Sizzling on a skillet , we shared x3 mains ( Chicken Tikka Chilli Masal Tawa , South Indian Chilli Chicken , Chicken Zafrani ) Coconut Rice , Mushroom Rice , Garlic Rice , Bombay Allo , Tarka Dall and a Garlic Naan ) Wow what can I say apart from Amazing , the flavours were great and cooked to perfection , we left full and content and will definitely be going back for more , thank you for such great food. The most amazing curried flavours I have experienced. Being born and brought up in Leicester, I experienced many types of curry from the early 1970s. I was exceptionally surprised and thrilled that the meals my friend and I had this evening beat my favourite Leicester restaurant. Warm welcome, crisp white table cloths. Table neatly laid. Our waiter Saif was very helpful, as were other staff, wide choice on the menu but not overwhelming. Comfortable relaxed atmosphere. Very reasonable price at under £20 per head for soft drink, starter, main, Nan, and side dish each.

I told myself write a review last time but never got around to it. On second eating it’s just satisfying as before. Delicious food, welcoming staff and impeccable service. Saif and Ali couldn’t do anymore for us. This is more than just a curry house!

Great food but poor service! Waited for a table to be ready although there were tables set for two. Took ages to be asked what drinks we wanted, and when our orders were taken we were asked if we wanted our starters first?!
