Enjoyed a fabulous tapas dinner with three friends last night at the Vobster Inn prepared by a genuine Spanish chef. We shared ten different dishes from pheasant croquettes to Manchego and quince jelly. Why would you choose burger and chips when you can have a meal that you would never attempt at home.

I’ve stayed at the Vobster Inn quite a few times. I visit my son & his family who live nearby often, however I can’t always get a room, so early booking is recommended. They have glamping on site, but I like the comfort of a hotel room. The rooms are all beautifully decorated (I’ve stayed in 3 out of the 4 of them), the beds are very comfortable & the modern en suite bathrooms delightful. The heating is easy to control & the large screen TV’s a great bonus. Now to the management. Peta (pronounced Peter) is a fabulous hostess. Friendly, communicative with a nothing to much for you attitude that makes you feel so welcome. I like certain fruits for my breakfast in the beautiful main pub building. It’s provided & very fresh. The huge car park is extremely close to everything. The entire setting of this stunning establishment is so perfect I can’t wait to stay there again.

We ate here on a Saturday evening as a family of five. The pub itself has a lovely, friendly atmosphere and the staff are wonderfully accommodating but not too fussy. The menu is small but the food is delicious and clearly cooked to order. There were 3 good vegetarian options (my baked eggs were fantastic) and the children’s menu was more than adequate. Our meal of two main courses, one sharing platter, two children’s meals, two large glasses of wine, one pint of ale and three soft drinks came to a very reasonable £62.50. We will definitely be back if we’re back in the area.

Had a meal here with a few friends, menu is small but if you call they will cater for most dining issues, the food we had was cooked well but i dont think you would want just a main if you like to eat loads. we had pudding which i was not overly happy with, Eaton mess was just 2 spoons of cream, a small amount of broken meringue and about 2 strawberries. Not the cheapest place to eat although the food looked good on the plate. Dont think we would go again.

The Vobster Inn was a real find. We were limited to dinner there, as the yurts and shepherd’s hut were booked out. The welcome was Peta was warm and genuine and we immediately felt at home. Local beer slipped down too easily and the food was delicious. The kids menu was more than adequate - empty plates attested to that - and we adults enjoyed a tapas-style starter with delicious breads (we chose anchovies, chorizo and goats cheese), followed by lamb and duck. The kids polished off clotted cream icecream and sticky toffee pudding. We will certainly come back, and will make sure we book a yurt next time.

I visited this venue with a largish party of people. We all had prebooked our meals, several days in advance. The tables were nicely laid out and the setting of the pub is very good. The food was somewhat varied. My baked camembert was very good , but it could have been hotter. It was just about acceptable, otherwise I would have sent it back to be reheated. The scampi next to me was absolutely awful. It was overcooked and not much fish inside. No excuse for this... It has to be one of the easiest meals to do! The ham egg and chips were good, but not enough chips on our table. Extra chips were brought out to a neighbouring table, but the people on our table got none. The tables were large and if I had not started to eat at once my meal would have been stone cold by the time the last person was served. Not very polite I know, but it was necessary Im afraidThere did not seem to be enough staff, again I felt there was no excuse, as we had all preordered. This venue is not cheap, and it did not live up to the prices charged.

After getting settled in our room, our order was taken at the bar. We relaxed on the couches with our drinks while we waited for our order to be ready as a big order had recently been placed in the kitchen. Our server showed us to our table once we were ready to be seated, and our meal came out shortly afterwards. I ordered the lamb after seeing so many sheep everywhere, and to remind me of home. It was cooked perfectly pink, served on a bit of bubble & squeek, with a rich gravy. My fiancé had the chicken which she said was the best chicken she has ever had.We were too stuffed for pudding, but I was very tempted by the sticky toffee pudding.I loved the feel of the pub, from the paved floor to the stuffed fox on the bar, and the leather couches with hilarious books near the entrance. My wife and I have eaten here many times and The Vobster never fails to please. The food is excellent and varied and the service cheerful and engaged. The wines are pretty good and economically priced. Recently we had a cheerful and cheering sparkling Spanish rosé. As for the food, the raviolilioni (ravioli stuffed with ricotta and lemon) was utterly mouthwatering and delicious. The chef is Spanish and there is often a spanish flavour or origin to some of the dishes. The Vobtsre is run by a husband and wife team - husband rules in the kitchen and his wife rules from the bar - both of them lovely people.

Went to have a late romantic Valentine's meal and came away very disappointed. The waitress was very pleasant but did not know anything about the menu, her strap line was (I'm not 100% sure).Ordered potted shrimp and squid for starters, the shrimp had been chilled and therefore was really hard and difficult to spread. Surely this should be served at room temp? The squid was really chewy.Mains were good, really good steak in fact.Ordered a sticky toffee pudding which came with chocolate ice cream?! ( What's that all about?) The waitress had forgotten to tell us they were out of vanilla ice cream. No choice given re having cream. No concession made on the bill despite the fact that we expressed our dissatisfaction.Proprietor said she would have vanilla ice cream next time - well there won't be one for us, sorry!

Booked Sunday lunch on a recommendation as we were staying in the area for a few days. Rang in advance to confirm availability of a vegetarian option for lunch and they were happy to offer a roast or one of the a la carte options which they discussed with me. When we arrived the staff were fully aware of the vegetarian requirement and very helpful. The rest of us ordered from both the a la carte and the Sunday roast sections of the menu. The food was delicious and beautifully presented. There was a varied selection of vegetables served with the meals including a generous dish of cauliflower cheese which was a treat!Real care and attention had gone into the small but varied menu. Staff were friendly and the restaurant itself was thoughtfully decorated and immaculate. Portion sizes aren't huge which is not a bad thing, quality rather than quantity takes a precedent here.Thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would love to come again if we find ourselves back in the area.

We hadn't been for a while. Not deliberately, I guess summer shennanigans just got in the way. Tonight, however, was our first Saturday night with no plans. The temperature has dropped and we fancied a charming pub, a relaxed environment, some hearty warming food and a decent bottle of red. Landlady and staff were friendly and courteous as normal. Fabulously, there was a delicious Spanish stew on the menu, cooked by the Catalan landlord, which was everything we had been looking for and some. The Vobster just always delivers. A lovely old pub, great food and there's just something charmingly humble about the whole set up. It's off the beaten track which, in this day and age, shoudn't stop it being awash with snobby foodie types but it isn't. Perhaps too humble for its own good but selfishly, I'm glad about that because it means a quick phone call usually secures you a table and you're guaranteed to leave with a warm feeling inside.

This evening my family and I drove out to the Vobster Inn and, based on the reviews here, were looking forward to a lovely evening. We arrived early (18.30) and, apart from a group of eight who'd arrived just before us, we were the only ones there. We settled ourselves in the garden and I went in to get some menus. I asked whether, when we were ready to order, we needed to do so at the bar. The peremptory reply I received was: 'You'll have to wait half an hour.' A little surprised, I asked whether this was to order. 'No', came the grumpy reply. 'All these people are ahead of you and we're expecting lots of guests. So you'll have to wait at least half an hour for food.' Now, having worked as a waitress for many years, I understand that restaurants get busy but this one was practically empty. Even without having worked as a waitress, any decent person knows this is not how you speak to potential customers. We were made to feel unwelcome and unwanted. so we took our business elsewhere and won't be back.

We visited the Vobster Inn on a wet Saturday lunchtime. The choice of real ale was slightly disappointing and the place was very quiet in fact almost deserted so choosing a table was no problem. We were served by a very polite friendly barman. The menu was fish orientated but with enough options for non fish lovers. Our food, a rustic meaty stew from a region of Northern Spain, came quite quickly and hit the spot on a cold miserable day. It was accompanied by a generous portion of delicious bread. When I asked if the barman knew anywhere that might be open locally (I was thinking of the Talbot in mells) he went so far as to call the place to check and made us a booking. Spent a week in Somerset staying in Upper Vobster and chanced across this little Inn, initially for lunch. Fairly small menu but the food was beautiful - well cooked and presented and full of flavour. Our kids enjoyed the kids menu also. We decided to return for dinner on our last night (tonight) and again had a great meal. Staff were very warm and friendly and both the food and the service were great. Thoroughly recommended.

Went with friends, my meal was lovely the steak cooked perfectly. However, one of my friends had an issue with hers and the lady was brilliant. She swept away the offending dish immediately and offered a free replacement of anything else. The service was excellent and any problems were dealt without fuss nor argument, would definitely return.

I have just been for a meal at the Vobster inn with my partner, I must say that the food and service is beyond any expectations, I went for the trio of lamb which was perfectly cooked and very tasty, I also added some of the tapas options to my meal which is lovely to have something to nibble and taste some authentic Spanish cuisine, there was plenty on the menu to choose from was thoroughly impressed and will be returning in the very near future. Also Peta and Raf are doing a fantastic job, a fantastic beer garden with brilliant views for when the sun decides to appear

went here with a lovely friend who had been there before.it was a beautiful country pub with low beams and all the charm of a village pub/restaurant...until you have some food, the menu varies from time to time, but you will not be disappointed.parmesan and spinach croquettes just melt in the mouth.. the foie gras terrine my friend had was superb...the duck breast with red cabbage and mash was succulent and crispy topped, divine!!!to finish the peach melba cheesecake..oh was pure heaven!! we shall return with husbands as it is my new favourite restaurant!!

My husband and I (sound like the Queen!) dine here regularly and are never let down. The food is always excellent as is the service. Pete and Rafael do a great job. P.S. No guns were put to heads to write this review, just feel they need some well earned recognition!

Food was ok, the meat eaters amongst us were fairly satisfied. There were no vegan choices and little flexibility around the menu - this may just have been the waitress though to be fair. Prices were fairly high

A good pub, has changed hands a few times now and no one has really got it to work perfectly. The food was of good quality, atmosphere lack a good roaring fire, the restaurant is very sterile environment. Reasonable price

Have been here for Lunch a few times. Food has always been of a high standard. We had the offer of 2 courses for £10 with glass of house wine. Just right for lunch time. Will definately go again soon. Lovely place to sit out side in good weather.

We eat here regularly. It's a charming old pub/restaurant in a lovely small rural village. The couple who run it are absolutely lovely. She works front-of-house and takes the time to make everybody feel welcome in an unobtrusive way. Her Spanish husband is the Head Chef and and delivers exceptionally high quality pub food at very reasonable prices. For something different, try one of the Spanish dishes on the menu - they are exceptional! They also have paella nights. It's a decent size venue but it's worth calling to book first. I get the impression that they deliberately don't over-commit on covers in order to retain quality and it shows. Thank you Vobster Inn, we love you!

We have been a number of times to the vobster and never disappointed; they to great tapas, and some fantastic, often spanish-influenced specials. We went for a Sunday lunch last week, and it was so good we felt we needed to review it! Sunday lunches are hard to get right, but this was perfect, fantastic meat, beautifully cooked, with a great yorkshire pud and tasty veggies. There is some stiff competiotion round here on Sunday lunches, but think the Vobster edges it.

I hadn't visited The Vobster Inn for quite a few years, even though it had always been extremely good each time I did visit, so decided it was time to return. We visited on a Friday night to celebrate an anniversary. The food is still extremely high quality, very well presented and very reasonably priced. The service was faultless and extremely friendly and attentive. We enjoyed our meal so much we decided to go back the following Sunday for Sunday Lunch. The waiter informed us, while we were being seated, that the Roast options were Beef and Lamb and that the beef will be served "pink!".....'perfect' we thought :) and we were not disappointed. One of the best Sunday Roasts we had had in a while :)Oh....and make sure you try the Trio of Chocolate Treats for dessert!

We had a great room here en route to Cornwall - newly refurbished and very comfortable. Peta does everything to make you welcome and works hard in the restaurant and bar. It was a Wednesday night and very busy - Dutch tourists on spec as they enjoyed it the night before, a local party on celebration, and other couples like us. There was a great atmosphere and Rafael her husband produces lovely tapas - a mixed fish plate of mussels, anchovies, calamari, sardines on toast was lovely, and the catalan tomato bread perfect. We had the crab linguine from the specials board - excellent. This is a lovely place to stay - breakfast is generous too - and it's a superb place to eat.

Excellent ice creams, great variety and flavour. I visited with my dogs on a really hot day in July. Perfect way to cool down. Also a special mention to the pet shop Wiggle and Wag which shares a site with the gelato shop. Both great.

We don’t really know Dorking but came for a comedy gig and wanted food and drink before the show. We booked a table online and then were a bit confused when we walked in as it’s looks like a work space but then has a bar and says it served food. The staff explained they had a limited menu currently. As we were there and we’d booked we thought we’d give it a go. We ordered halloumi fries to start and then various burgers - whilst initially worried this was just going to be a zap in the microwave job; how wrong we were. The food was so good. The food was restaurant quality!! The staff (particularly the gent I assume was the manager) were so friendly and helpful and couldn’t do enough for us. We will definitely go again; and look forward to when they have their full menu.

A truly great evening was had last night. We went for a Christmas meal, and from the point of arrival when we found “Thatchers Zero” in the fridge for the designated driver, to settling up at the end of the evening the experience was great. Super friendly staff, and a well behaved pub dog who just had a look of “please love me” on his face. The food was superb, and the price was good value for money. I would definitely recommend the pub.

Visited Glastonbury whilst on a weeks break in Crewkerne. Popped into to this lovely cafe as it was dog friendly. Forgetting my glasses I asked if they catered for gluten free, they did (it stated it on the menu). As I ordered the lady behind the counter asked if I was coeliac, I told her I was. When the food was brought to the table, the lady explained that she had cleaned the kitchen and prepared my food using all new unopened ingredients. All I had was a corned beef and onion sandwich, but the attention to detail was second to none. Really recommend this place to coeliacs and non coeliacs.

The Sunrise Cafe may look like an ordinary cafe on the outside but inside the food is something special! Choose something from The Thai menu if you like Thai food and you will experience some of the best authentic Thai cooking outside Thailand! We stopped here for lunch after driving around the Malvern Hills all morning thinking it was just a normal cafe but discovered that it also had a Thai Menu cooked by a delightful Thai lady Chef called "Jim". I am not sure how she came by that name but she was definitely a woman! We chose Tom Yum chicken soup and checked that would not be too spicy hot first. It was perfect and also contained Mushroom, Sping Onion and Tomato. Incredibly tasty with a mild warmth aftertaste. We followed this with a Chicken Massaman Curry which included a Jasmine sticky rice. The curry was the best we have tasted. It looked so appetising with it's rich golden colour. The friendly Hungarian waitress also supplied us with water and afterwards my wife Angie had a hot chocolate and I had a White Cofffee. A fantastic meal and drinks for just under £20 a head. If you are touring the Malverns this is worth taking a detour for! It is open from about 8:30 am to 4pm this time of the year and has a garden available at the back for outdoor seating in the summer months. The Cafe also serves a range of cooked breakfasts and lunches or hot sandwiches, some deserts, milkshakes, hot and cold drinks.
