The best restaurants in Exeter South West

Good points first…. Great location, staff were lovely… bad points I think the chef accidentally let the top of the salt cellar drop off, my food had so much salt in it! Especially the mash potato! Going to be so dehydrated tomorrow! We also had a group of workmen next to us , who were only drinking beer in the dining room f..ing and blinding, which ruined our meal. We will return but only for drinks and the view.

Popped on for a quick meal, which was up to the usual standard. Staff were very attentive as there were clearly not enough for this busy restaurant. They were excellent.

Fish and chips use to be really good, not so good now last few times chips hard and mainly bits not nice chips, fish not nice, use to be cooked to order now left sitting there

Always a nice Shashlik kebab. With plenty of salad and veg. Please remember to look at the delivery note. I wrote very clear directions to the house, but the driver got lost as he didn't read the note. Thanks.

A group of us met in Topsham for a walk and lunch. Not knowing how many would turn up, I had booked for 12. In the event, there were 17 all keen for a lunch. All credit to the team at The Lighter for accommodating us all on a very busy day, even managing when we turned up an hour earlier than planned. The food was excellent, the service too. Wholeheartedly recommend the smoky fish pie. Best fish pie I have ever eaten, and I have tasted quite a lot. Well done chef. Handshake from the South Devon Ramblers.

Brilliant place to eat! Especially if you got to catch a train, not far from the station, tasty fresh burgers and the milkshake are to die for, I will definitely come back again!

Brilliant revised menu, great staff, clean pub.

Not sure why there are negative reviews, I stayed here for 12 nights, room was quiet, couldnt hear the noise at night, very comfortable bed, good nights sleep most nights, breakfast was good, staff were friendly and attentive especially at night.10/10 from me to you.

Good coffee only thing I would recommend is a cardboard sleeve for my takeaway coffee as it was to hot 🔥

A delightful atmosphere, with authentic turkish food , tasty, fresh, and amazing flavours breaking in your mouth with each bite. My favorite place to dine.

Booked here for a dog-friendly breakfast. Really great food & even better service. Had the full English & salmon & scrambled eggs. The breakfast starter of building your own yoghurt with granola, compote etc was super nice too. We sat inside as it was a little chilly but there was a very cute outside area for dining which would be lovely too. Would recommend.

Delicious home made Burnley Style Lancashire pudding with hot pot inside washed down with a Darwin 1988 house wine and Lars the landlord played Father Christmas and handed out Everton Mints to everyone

Really lovely people and food - a bit too much hot sauce on the enchilada, overtook the flavour of the chilli con carne. EDIT: the hot sauce didn't make the food too spicy, it just made it very vinegary and acidic!
