Often come here as the staff are very good friendly professional & the food has always been good plenty of choice love the carvery had the hunters chicken this time really nice would recommend 👍

Called in on the off chance as we in the area we were met by Dawn who was very welcoming showed us to our table and served us promptly, politely, and very friendly. Food was excellent came within 10 mins of ordering, hot and well presented. My husband had homemade Steak & Ale Pie and i had the Beef Carvery hot baguette , 8 perfectly roast potatoes Yorkshire Pudding and a Gravy boat. Both steak pie & carvery beef were so tender and delicious you didn’t need to chew. Will definitely go back if in this area again . They also welcomed dogs and children with a family area with indoor play

WOW!!! First time in years we’ve been here but wow were we impressed! The staff were so welcoming, the restaurant/ pub was spotless. The carvery looked delicious, good variety of fresh vegetables, pie and meat looked amazing, will definitely be returning for a carvery. Our meal was very well presented and tasted as good as it looked. EXCELLENT

We have wanted to visit this pub for a while, when we arrived we had to battle our way through a massive queue of people to be seated, not a good start. the table we were put at was so wobbly that we had to be moved. We ordered of the main menu and I had the fish and chips and when it arrived it was disgusting, the fish was gray and smelled of ammonia, the battery was so chowey I had to send it back. My wife had the curry, as she started to eat it she found it had a layer of congealed skin on the top , so this dish has been sitting around for a while. To be honest it was a very poor experience. Sorry but we wouldn't go back.

I’ve been coming here for years with family and friends. I’ve left at least 3 5star reviews in the past. Unfortunately since chef Alan has left the carvery meat portion size is dramatically smaller . I got a sliver of pork haft of it was fat and I couldn’t eat it and a sliver of beef. It’s so disappointing. I don’t think I’ll be ordering the carvery again.

Once again we chose to take our first 2024 Christmas celebration at the Cat & Fiddle on the Sidmouth Road A terrific choice as all 18 of us had an amazing lunch The Farmhouse Carvery as always was exceptional perfectly cooked quality meats with a great choice of tasty and well presented vegetables Our starters and desserts were also perfect What made our visit exceptional was the way we were looked after by Sam and the wonderful Team Thank you I strongly recommend the Cat & Fiddle for exceptional food and exemplary service Will be back very soon Jeff and the Dream Team

We recently visited and opted for the carvery. While the beef was very nice, the rest of the dishes were just okay and didn’t particularly stand out. For dessert, I had the Christmas pudding, which I found quite bland, and the brandy butter lacked flavor. On a positive note, the waitressing team was lovely very friendly and attentive. However, I feel the chef could work on improving the overall taste and quality of the food to make the experience more enjoyable.

We’ve been driving past this place for days trying to get chance to call in. Which we managed to do today and they do an over 55yrs -two course special. (mains & dessert) for £15. Very tasty and really good portions even though it was on an offer. Can’t fault this place. Staff were really friendly and efficient and all reasonably priced. Take time to visit.

We visited a few months ago and were taken aback by how rude the staff member was that greeted us (I used the word Greeted very lightly). We felt like we were in the way and she really didn't want us there. It wasn't busy that day so it was northing to do with being busy. The waitresses however who delivered our food were very polite however. The food itself was good but we were put off by the attitude of the senior member or staff. We decided to try it again this weekend (Sunday) in the hope that it was a one off. Unfortunately it was a repeat of the first visit. We went with different family members who all commented on how rude the member of staff was when we arrived. Once again the food itself was good, as were the serving staff but the person who appeared to be in charge was very ride and patronising. We only asked for a highchair and she replied that they didn't have any left and that we should have booked. I explained I would have booked if the phone was answered but it was a last minute visit. Once again we felt like we were in the way. Such a shame when everyone else is so polite and the food is good, but one person's attitude is spoiling the whole experience

We came for Sunday roast and wasn’t impressed. The vegetables were very dry and the roast potatoes were very pale and undercooked. Gravy and mint sauce extremely watery. No salt at the table and after finding a member of staff she presented me with 2 damp salt sachets… I had to walk to the other dining area to find a salt shaker. Such a shame because the children’s play area is a bonus for the restaurant and we would have returned if the food had been better.

Brilliant banoffee pie. At last a restaurant that does my favourite dessert and they also do cheesecakes too. My daughter and husband had carvery for father's day which they enjoyed very much. I had vegetable lasagne with salad and chips. The server was very attentive which was appreciated. Our daughter kindly treated us. We were told as soon as we sat down the table had to be vacated by a certain time. Bit off putting as a greeting seeing there were loads of empty tables about but it was Father's day. We have booked again for a birthday surprise which we are looking forward to

Absolutely loved our veggie carvery. The food was excellent and love the new restaurant area and having the carvery area separate looks so much better. The apricot and goats cheese nut roast was so tasty and you have about 8 vegetables to choose from. The restaurant area looks lovely. The staff are really friendly and helpful too. This is my new favourite place to eat!

An excellent meal here tonight. First class food and very welcoming staff. The new owners have put everything into making this a place you want to come back to. Well done in turning this place around.

Had Sunday carvery today. Dog friendly in the bar area, plenty of space. The carvery is an absolute must have. Choice of beef, pork, lamb, turkey, roast potatoes, little sausages, stuffing, yorkie puds, and 9 yes nine vegetables!! Amazing. Excellent value for money. Thank you. Wish we lived nearer to come every week!

Decided to book our Christmas party at the Cat & Fiddle to try their CARVERY and the new staff team

Visited this restaurant over the weekend, there were some issues in the kitchen but the serving staff were very apologetic when we were eventually told the carvery was ready, it was well worth the wait, Good selection of veg , Swede, pea and sweet corn, leek, red cabbage, parsnips potatoes, cauliflower with cheese sauce,Yorkshire puddings and 3 lots of meat to chose from. There were some good offers as well, the grandchildren ate free and as the oldies in the party were over 55 we got a discount too.

Food was incredibly tasty. Went with a group of eight and everyone loved their choice. Big portions, plenty of flavour and it was very cosy inside. Would definitely recommend!

We booked a table for 6 people the atmosphere was pleasant and staff very friendly after some drinks in the bar we were shown to our table. We decided on our orders but eventually had to go and get the waitress to take our order.

My wife and I called in this evening at about 18:30, my wife went to the ladies room and I walk in and stood at the desk were the sign “Please wait here to be seated” was display so I did just as a member of staff left taking customers to their table,

Very welcoming. Table service for both food and drinks. Have been there twice over the past couple of weeks and food was excellent. My husband and myself both had carvery (which they now serve every day) and it is one of the best we’ve had. Would certainly recommend.

My wife and I called in here yesterday after visiting the motorhome show at Westpoint, it's literally 2 minutes down the road and only 5 minutes from the M5 services junction. As it was dinnertime we opted for a light bite option, due to the fact that we were going out later that evening.

Driving by on Sunday, decided to stop for lunch about 12.30. Very busy, but they found us a table, ordered one meat carvery and one nut roast (nut roast cooked to order, took about 20 mins). You can choose two meats from the four available, really delicious, mum had the lamb which was perfectly cooked, tender and tasty, large selection of vegetables all again perfectly cooked, wonderful roast potatoes, and Yorkshire puddings along with the usual trimmings...apple sauce, Mint sauce, cranberry, horse radish, topped of with a delicious hot gravy. The nut roast was with apricots and topped with goats cheese absolutely delicious and well worth waiting for, also had gluten free,vegetarian gravy very tasty.

This is a new review as my last one was not so good, but having taken the advice of someone who recommended trying The Cat & Fiddle again since it has become under new management and well, what a complete turnaround! Good varied pub menu at sensible prices, plenty of seating, clean, bright and welcoming. The two ladies taking orders, bringing our food and drinks etc. were lovely – smiley, cheery, pleasant, efficient and ready to please – perfect!

This place was always a bit like an extension of a holiday camp and when last visited was very run down. With a refurbishment and new management this place has turned around to a welcoming contemporary pub and eating place.

Came here sun eve with family as staying at crealy. We all had carvery which was lovely only negative was chef said two meats when a carvery you like a small bit of each! Staff were very friendly and attentive. Would def return.

Brilliant new and existing staff. Very welcoming Refurbished bar is fantastic. Food is very good All in all a great venue and experience !!!

First time visiting since the new Management took over and we were not disappointed. Even though it was an extremely busy Sunday evening the food was lovely and tasty. Really looking forward to the more extensive menu which apparently is coming in November as there were only a couple of vegetarian options which is not enough. But cannot wait for the new menu to come! We had the veggie pasta dish which was delicious. We will definitely be going back as soon as the new menu is in place. Would really like to try the veggie carvery too.

We stopped in to the Cat & Fiddle before Disney on Ice yesterday late afternoon, we had no booking but staff were very accommodating and welcoming. The pub was extremely busy but staff managed well, food came out in a good time and was nice and hot. Nuestra comida llegó y comenzamos a comer, pedí cigalas y me horroricé al ver que un par de piezas estaban crudas, una amiga ordenó cazadores de pollo y para su horror su pollo también estaba crudo en el medio, dos de las peores cosas que pudieron posiblemente sirva crudo: mariscos y pollo. Se disculparon y se ofrecieron a reemplazar las comidas, pero ninguno de nosotros quería arriesgarse. Su excusa fue que era el primer día de los chefs con ellos, puedo sugerir que es el último. No volveremos.

Habiendo escuchado que el Cat y el Fiddle habían sido restaurados y tomados el control, decidimos probarlo. Nos hicieron sentir muy bienvenidos y el pub estaba muy limpio y la decoración deliciosa. La elección de la comida era razonable, pero explicaron que no era el menú completo y que estaban en el proceso de aumentar la elección y esperaban finalizarla en las próximas dos semanas. Esto se debió a que recientemente habían tomado el pub y todavía lo perfeccionaban. Uno de los miembros del grupo era vegetariano y desafortunadamente solo había dos platos vegetarianos y ambos eran comidas de pasta, pero se acomodaron muy amablemente al convertir a uno de los entrantes en un plato principal. Toda nuestra comida estaba bien presentada y sabrosa. Como todos en nuestro grupo eran "mayores", estuvimos encantados de ver que había un 20% de descuento para la mayoría de las comidas (desafortunadamente no nos dimos cuenta hasta que llegamos a casa de que no habían deducido esto de la factura). Todo el personal fue extremadamente agradable y comprobó que estábamos contentos con nuestras comidas. Sin duda volveremos a comer allí de nuevo y se lo recomendaría a mis amigos.

Cat and Fiddle ha sido nuestro local. durante 2 años y la comida estuvo bien, pero ahora tenemos nuevos gerentes wow, la comida y el personal son brillantes,

Cenamos aquí dos veces en una semana y ambas ocasiones excelente comida y servicio. Teníamos gambas, pollo, hamburguesas y bistecs y pasteles de cerveza. y postres de pudin de caramelo y brownies de chocolate. Todo muy bueno y servido con una sonrisa. el equipo directivo realmente lo está intentando y se nota que el ambiente general es mucho mejor.

Large family group celebrating a birthday, very pleased with the food - excellent quality, the staff were also lovely

Having used this as a meeting place with friends from South Devon and we were interested in seeing what the 'new' management had brought to the place. However we were disappointed with the food on offer/ The selection looked quite good and the prices were quite good, especially with the senior discount but unfortunatly the quality was poor.Two of our party went for steak pie - what arrived was a stew with a pastry top - the definition of a pie is 'a baked dish of fruit, or meat and vegetables, typically with a top and base of pastry.'The chips we all had (nothing else on offer), were not as before - previously chunky and crisp, these were soft and flabby. I think the peas has been cooked a while and were suffering for it. We didn't bother with a pud and will be looking for another halfway house to meet up in.

Not happy the Cat & Fiddle has been taken over by new management.

Anoche (sábado 5 de octubre) fui con un amigo a comer al gato, estuve aquí muchas veces y la comida siempre ha sido buena, anoche subió otro nivel, los entrantes que tuvimos fueron morrallas y champiñones en un salsa de queso azul, eran geniales y la salsa de los champiñones era perfecta. Para nuestros platos principales tuvimos tagliatelle con pesto y champiñones, muy muy sabrosos de hecho también pollo Hunters que era encantador y húmedo. El personal fue muy servicial cuando hicimos preguntas, nos atendieron durante toda la comida. Recomendaría el gato, demonios sí, lo recomendaría, altamente.

Evening meal lovely food great service, all staff welcoming and friendly great facilities for children indoor and outdoor play areas all very clean. Will definitely return if ever on holiday that way again!

Visited last night , new owners and very attentive , some good deals , especially for kids under 11 eat free with a paying adult on a Sat before 7 , food was freshly cooked and everyone enjoyed their meal , Ian and the team really made an effort , if you haven't been for a while worth a visit

We stopped off for lunch with a toddler and a 10 month old. There’s a great seating area with indoor soft play that was suitable for both. The food came to us hot and well presented and it was a bonus that the kids meals were free with each adult main course ordered. Thanks Ian for your warm and welcoming service. If we’re ever in the area again we’d certainly make a return visit.

Visited for the first time for lunch. The menu looked very average, with many dishes accompanied by chips and peas. Ordered steak and ale pie, with chips, peas and gravy and a small portion on sausages, mash, peas and gravy. Both dishes were uninspiring and looked straight out of the microwave. The pie's pastry was rock hard and the filling quite dry. The sausages, like everything on both plates, were tasteless and the same gravy accompanied each. At a combined cost of nearly £20, given the poor quality, the profit margin must have been enormous!

Have visited the Cat and Fiddle a couple of times recently and have enjoyed the experience on both occasions. The food has been nice and plentiful and really enjoyed the carvery on our first visit, have to admit was looking forward to that again on our second visit but it was not available, but enjoyed our alternative just as much was told Sundays only for carvery (Shame). The pub menu is a good selection of pub favourites and also has a children’s menu.

Staff very friendly. Food lovely and generous portion. I loved the crispy chunky chips, my favourite, always love crispy chips no one likes under cooked chips. Nice selection of desserts also. Plenty of tables and quieter spaces if you prefer. Car park huge.

We found this pub yesterday whilst travelling from Bristol Airport to Cornwall. It was delightful. The staff were lovely and really courteous. We both ordered the curry and again could not fault it. The prices were about average but as we were returning from the South of France seemed positively cheap!! We will certainly call in for meal again when travelling in that area and will also tell friends about it.

Tired after a long drive from Suffolk we visited this pub , which on our last trip to go to Sidmouth Folk Week in 2018, was in the throes of being refurbished.

Visited on 5th August. The staff where lovely and very welcoming but the Food was not very nice and the Children’s play area is run down.

Visited for tea. Although the pub was getting busy we found a table and ordered our starters and mains at the bar. The starters were excellent and so was the main course. It was a shame the time between courses was so quick. As the starters were cleared the mains were brought out. Leaving no time to get extra drinks or let your starters go down. I do look forward to returning and try more of the menu.

My friend and I live half a mile away from here, so hoped this could become a regular meeting place. The first Sunday we went there was no ‘meet and greet’ in fact apart from paying at the bar-we were totally ignored. The next Sunday we wanted to drop in for the carvery. We were told it was not available as they had a large group booking. Most of the pub was empty and no one at the carvery counter. We ended up ordering from the main menu- with a 35 minute wait. We decided to give it one last try yesterday. ‘No you can’t have the carvery because you haven’t booked and we might run out of food.’ We left.

Not expected at all. Really below standard food, mass produced and fried hard. Not tasty. Staff trying hard but the food and atmosphere doesn't cut it!!

We thought we would give the cat and fiddle a second chance yesterday after a shocking first meal with kids running feral chucking food and drinks around in the soft play area

Came on a hot sunny day so it was nice and cool inside. Decor is nice with plenty of seating. The beer is mainly from the St Austell brewery line. Staff member said we could sit anywhere and was friendly along with the bar staff. The food was really nice, its not the cheapest for pub food but we were all happy so a result. big car park and a good location too.

Shocked to find only about 30 people here on a Friday night at 7.30pm with about four huge rooms all deserted, it didnt take long to find out why, one guy serving at the till resulted in about a 5 minute wait to be able to order drinks, one pint and two cokes around £12. the menu was average with again standard kind of meals that were all around £11 or £12 that are £7 on average in most chains serving similar kind of mass produced meals, litterally about half a dozen chips with my hunters chicken! come on it was not cheap and your skimping on the chips and charging top money, this is the first time we have been since its been taken on by this brewery and we wont be going back. (the carvery was not even open)

Went to this pub today for lunch and had scampi and chips scampi was soggy a handful of chips absolutely well over priced spoonful of peas no extras complete joke bought this meal from local supermarkets for 1/4 of the price and tasted better sat opposite kitchen not very inviting think twice before you visit complete rip off so basic

We came here on a family meal as our first choice was fully booked, food was good and apart from the half hour wait the service by the waiters was superb. While we waited for our food I took my daughter in the indoor play area, I put her in the ball pool but she couldn't enjoy herself as there was kids in there that were clearly to old to be there and they decided to hand stands and ended up kicking my daughter in the head. It spoiled my visit unfortunately but the staff at the bar and waiters was brilliant, shame there no control of the 'children' play area

Firstly, the website Advertises itself as a traditional pub and carvery. So I thought great I’ll look forward to a meatless carvery or vegetarian carvery. However it’s only on a Sunday! There were several specials advertised, none of which were vegetarian. You could choose homity pie or a vegetarian burger off the main menu. You can’t beat a good homity pie so my friend and I went for that. She was sensible and had salad instead of chips thinking that there is potato in a homity pie. What we didn’t expect was a mashed potato pie! Yes it had flavour of onion and a slight flavour of cheese but it was a mash potato pie! In this day and age with so many people are trying to eat less meat it is just appalling! On the plus side the staff were lovely.

Arrived for our booked table at 6pm as we we’re advised when booking that there was a large party arriving at 6:30 - at 6:56pm we we are still waiting to place an order for our meal ! Granted the complimentary nuts were appreciated but trying to work out whether to leave and go somewhere else or as we have done our time waiting - hurrah order just taken but told another 20 min at least until we actually eat ! Don’t take bookings if you aren’t up to running the kitchen !

The facilities were good for my niece and her two children with play areas both inside and outside, but I feel this perhaps lead to the menu being left somewhat wanting. One of our party nearly always has a steak and there was a choice of only one, that being rump, which was disappointing to say the least and things got worse once he received it, as he said it was very poor quality and not nice at all. The meat on my rack of ribs was tender albeit on the dry side and the BBQ sauce being just a drizzle over the top, whereas the other party member had their rack of ribs virtually covered with the sauce … hmmm not best pleased. Also my salad was somewhat limp and ‘tired’ looking. One of us had the steak pie and apparently the pastry tasted stale although the meat was okay. There was no complaint with the scampi at all, but the hanging kebab was only one and not much to it at that … did look good though and well presented. Of the adults in our party, one thought the menu choice and food was good, 3 thought the menu choice and food was okay but could certainly have been better and one was not at all happy. Having said this, the service was very good, the man behind the bar was friendly and chatty and very helpful as were the ladies that served our food etc. I would certainly recommend this place if you have children, but it is not somewhere that I am likely to be going to again myself.

Visited one Sunday wanting there carvery we were told that they didn’t know if they had enough left there was no one in the que and loads of meat and veg ?

My wife and I visited the Cat and Fiddle for the first time since it changed hands.The decor is certainly much better than when we last visited for lunch but that is the only thing I can compliment the new owners on. This was our first and last visit! The food and drinks are expensive and the food is not as good as that provided by the previous owners. The place was very quiet for a Friday lunch time but it is very easy to see why now we have been there. Previously it was well populated by residents from the park home estate close by. Not now it seems and I can only think that it is the prices and quality which has stopped them using the facilities.

Marvelous meal with fantastic staff. Had the scampi and chips. Presented brilliantly in decent time, and it tasted lovely. Would definitely visit again.

While staying nearby went here one night for meal with family two adults two teens great selection very friendly staff food was lovely nice atmosphere

We visited the cat and fiddle yesterday. We had a gorgeous meal, we were spoilt for choice there were so many scrummy things on the menu but we were certainly not disappointed with our choices. All the members of the team we met couldn’t have been friendlier and that includes the manager. Thank you to everyone at the cat and fiddle for making my husbands Father’s Day lunch one to remember.

Went to visit cat & fiddle inn as my grandmother and grandfather used to live behind in lodge site when I was a child.Had many a happy evening in there with them,was in area with my partner carrie so we thought we would drop in.They have changed the pub a lot but for the better.we had amazing food there & the 2 lovely ladies behind bar told us to come inside and bring our Yorkshire terrier rosie.we had a lovely chat with them about the old/new pub.very friendly staff,amazing food,spotless toilets.we will definitely visit when next in Exeter & have already recommended pub to friends going to Devon in next few months.

We looked at lots of places to hold a family 50th wedding anniversary dinner with the family, I hadn’t been here for years but heard it had been refurbished so gave it a try. From the minute I walked in I was impressed, very smart and helpful staff, very clean. Staff really couldn’t do enough so we booked the snug which is part of the pub but you get that little bit of privacy, we were allowed in early to decorate and were happy for us to bring our own cake. On the evening again the staff were so lovely, everyone was so very impressed with their food and service. Would highly recommend and will definitely be coming back. Thank you

Visited this pub just after it had been refurbished a few months ago but was not greatly impressed! Visited again yesterday with a friend and I was very impressed with the improvement, our carvery was very good, beef ultra tender and the staff were lovely, very friendly and attentive. I would have given them 5 stars but the choice of vegetables was quite small as some of the dishes were empty! As it was Sunday which is probably their busiest day I would expect them to be topped up regularly. Also there was only a choice of 2 meats, Turkey and beef. Overall very good and would definitely visit again.

Staying near the area this weekend really fancied a Sunday dinner rang to book a table for about 3pm everything was ready for us and the carvery was excelliant the staff went out their way to make us feel welcome , recommend this beautiful old pub.

Big pub, great food, decent beer, big car park with coach stop, big garden, carvery most of the year plus normal menu, great price. What more could you ask for you ask for?

This was our first since the refurbishment and it is such an improvement! The staff were all very friendly and helpful, we all had the carvery which was £10.95 if I remember correctly and worth every penny. The beef was the best I’ve had in ages with all the trimmings. I think this is will be our Sunday roast place from now on.

Friendly welcoming staff who were very helpful giving us info re wheelchair facilities. Been meaning to visit for a few years now and was passing yesterday so decided to go for it. Menu was being updated so a little restricted on selection but opted for the ploughmans and was not disappointed it was really nice and a big plate full. They are only doing the carvery on a Sunday now so will have to try that out later in the year. Very pleased with everything, I would say that if you do have a wheelchair then the main front entrance is not where to go, you need to park around where 'family room' is sign posted and entrance is made through 2 opening doors with just a little tiny threshold step which is not too much hassle. Perhaps it would be worth the pub manager consider getting the disabled parking bays relocated to around the side of the pub to avoid a long push :) or nearer to the double doors just a bit of constructive advice. Other than that full marks and we will definitely be returning and recommending.

Great place, nice food, friendly staff, a gorgeous garden where we enjoyed our meals, we plan to visit the place again very soon.

Around 10 of us came here for a family members birthday, and after an almost 2 hour drive to the area I certainly wasnt disappointed. The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly. The floors, tables and bar were all clean, and the food was cooked perfectly. Everyone's orders came out in good time (even after having to ask them to make a change to one of the meals, which the gentleman behind the bar did instantly).

Met up for our family reunion, room was carefully prepared for us and reception and service was superb. Good food, careful attention to detail and courteous service. Even the dogs were catered for with water and biscuits - booked again for next year and thanks for a great day.

Worse dinner we’ve had in a long time. Gammon steaks were burnt and chips dry. There were only a handful of people in there so no excuse. The calvary which was left out looked over cooked which is why we opted for fresh cooked food. Husband enjoyed the ruby jack red ale and it’s nice looking pub. Just a shame about the food.

Food is of a really good standard for such a huge restaurant. For meat lovers with kids who are looking for a good feed, a good pint and somewhere for the kids to play, you will struggle to find a better option in south Devon.

No me impresionó particularmente no poder abrir una pestaña. Esperé 30 minutos para las tartas de bistec y cerveza, (solo alrededor de 4 mesas ocupadas) Las costras eran como el concreto. Sin embargo, nos ofrecieron reemplazos, pero declinamos, ya que habría interrumpido una comida juntos, ya que eso significaría que 2 personas comieran su almuerzo por separado. En el lado positivo, el servicio y la amabilidad de la joven que servía detrás del bar y la mesa eran excelentes. Rechazamos un dulce ya que significaba ir al bar y pagar por separado nuevamente. (Sin pestaña) El pub está muy limpio y tiene buen ambiente.

Had a lovely roast with the family today, food was brilliant, staff very accommodating especially a young girl called Katie who went above and beyond to make sure we was all well looked after. Will be back again soon

Another lovely visit to the cat and fiddle, Gee greeted as with his usual friendly style and the roast was hot and cooked to prefection. As always 10/10. See you again soon.

Just the best. The staff have all their manners and a great sense of humour. The manageress is amazing. If there is one place you can rely on for a great time for you and the family... GOHERE! Great people, great food, great beer!

We wanted to celibrate St. Patrick's day so chose a carvery lunch at the Cat and Fiddle. We booked our table as this is advisable on a special occasion day. Our guests didn't show up so we went ahead and ordered carvery and a Guinness. Sadly they didn't sell Guinness so we made do with a lime and soda...

Just got back from a family meal I wanted a carvery but was told the carvery was just vegetables .

We went to the Cat & Fiddle tonight the 9th March and had a really excellent meal off the menu. The service was very good and all of the staff were very polite. Thank you Andreia for looking after us.

First time I have been to this pub for many years but as it’s been refurbished and under new management I thought I would give it a go. I went with my daughter and a friend (who had her 1 year old son) for lunch. We all chose the carvery, mine was a small one and to be honest was very good value and enough for my appetite but as I was choosing my vegetables there was a man behind the counter telling the young girl, who was carving the meat, that she was doing something wrong and telling her off quite vocally! When I went back to the table my daughter and her friend went up for their carveries and on their return they remarked that this man was again telling the young girl off. Now I don’t really care what it was she had done but it’s very unprofessional to berate members of staff in front of customers and I don’t think I’ll be rushing back anytime soon as it does not create a relaxed atmosphere, pity because it shows promise.

We were very impressed with the choice of food available. The various pies were excellent with vegetables selected from the carvary. Excellent service and a very pleasant atmosphere. Will certainly return.

We stopped on an impulse as we were driving from Exeter, glad we did. We both were impressed with the friendliness of the staff and the decor and cleanliness of the place.

Our first visit to the Cat & Fiddle. Thought we would give it a try since it’s re-opened/been taken over. Nice warm interior/decor, friendly chatty staff and most importantly nice food. Will be back!

After it recent refurbishment we decided to go take a look at what’s a fairly local pub to us , in the past been ok but not reliable stop , on arriving notice a few new changes not huge but noticeable alterations Decor was inviting and bar well equipped .

We went today for the first time to have lunch, we had a small and medium carvey, it was lukewarm and even the pigs in blankets were just cold so left most of it , we told the staff the waitress was very helpful and but the person behind the bar just said we never had that complaint before ( REALLY) but offer us two coffee ( with came warm not hot ) and some silly vouchers for £5:00 off £20 only until the end feb as if we would go again NEVER

What an amazing carvery would highly recommend.

Some friends were on their way through the area for a holiday, and we chose the Cat and Fiddle as a bit of an experiment after the 2018 refurb, having checked that they were happy to have dogs in the pub (they are). Two carverys, two mains off the decent pub menu, and two kids mains, all well cooked, served in a timely fashion, and tasty. One of the carvery plates was the "Large" option, and it was a spectacularly-sized serving!

Having dropped in on the off chance,never visited before, we were most welcome with our two dogs. The carvery selection was very good, large vegetable choice, and meat was not over done. Pleasant atmosphere, clean, service was good.

Waited for almost an hour for meals ordered a meal for four One of the males you could not eat the others were not very good and only just one complaint to the waitress she said I’ll tell the chef we were given a 1 pound voucher off for next meal great I thought I would try once again this time we had a carvery to save having to wait almost an hour the only thing in the carvery that was hot was the roast potatoes all the rest of the meal was Coldl complain to the Waitress oh she said was that the vegetables cold again I’ll tell the chef on the way out I saw the chef and complained cold and the beer was cold I did not say sorry to be honest we didn’t give a damn definitely will never go back there my money is first class service is rubbish

A few weeks ago we took two residents from the care home where I work out for a pub visit, we chose the Cat and Fiddle.

The new Cat and Fiddle looks great and has lots of space. Loads of areas to eat and a great children’s play area. The food was good and very tasty. Nice selection of drinks and friendly staff.

Lovely food in the newly re-opened pub. Great selection of vegetables on the carvery very friendly staff. Nice open plan kitchen. Easy to access via bus as bus stop 1 minute walk from tge pub either side of the road
