Travelling. Found this on Google. Can confirm its halal. Not far from city centre. Good was absolutely beautiful the chicken and lamb swarma is 100% meat and you can tell the quality. Recommend going here. Great decor and service

Had lunch today along with my husband, poor service,never check back if the food was alright, we ordered the mix grill and lamb shawarma, the rice was not fresh on both the dishes, lamb kofte was a bit off, and never got our chips. Complete disappointment

It's my favourite place to eat for authentic Turkish food in Exeter. Portions are very generous, and everything is cooked fresh to order. Kebabs are excellent here.

Great people and delicious food

I've never enjoyed couscous- until tonight. Delicious, and the smells of grilled meat and veg were a big part of the experience. The beer tasted a little of honey, which was pleasant and the coffee was also a new experience. The atmosphere was a little rowdy or otherwise generally louder but positive.

Shawarma has been severely burnt every time, the cooks do not seem to care about the food that they put out. Wait time is ridiculous, no organisation. Felt my custom came at an inconvenience. Ate here a couple of times, the only reason I gave two star is because the waiting staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall I would not recommend and will not continue to spend money there.

Absolutely the best Turkish food in this part of Devon, it immediately reminds me of the flavors of Istanbul, I recommend it to everyone👌💥

I came inside the restaurant wasn’t greeted I took a seat my self after waiting 20 minutes I asked the chef if he could give me the menu because waiter was busy on the till and didn’t acknowledge me waiting for his service bought mix grill was one of the tinniest portion I had in uk also you don’t get a restaurant vibe feel like a takeaway it said on the menu 2 ribs I got one other one was less then half I was still starving so I had to get chicken doner wrap which also was disappointing in taste and quantity n quality not recommended if your hungry 😋

The atmosphere and the service was great and is always a brilliant start but…Well I had the kofte which I had to return as it was kind of dry and crispy. The one I got back was better but similar. I didn't’ finish it all as it was just weird. If it had been in my cafe I would have been mortified. The salad, rice, onion salad, bulga wheat and sauces were lovely. And effes beer is of course a winner.

Good food and excellent service. They need to improve the toilet facilities though. Not been good for some time.

Another totally excellent dinner at Efes Grill! The standard Lamb Shish generously comes with rice, bulgar wheat, a little onion salad, big side salad (loads of vinegar dressing), soft fresh sesame bread, chilli dip and yogurt dip. The meat is tender, no gristle or fat, cooked to a smoky perfection and a little pink in the middle. All for £14.95 - bargain! Super team, from the waiting staff to the chefs and kitchen crew - friendly and positive vibes. A lovely atmosphere as always, a real mix of ages, ethnicities and types of groups - families, couples, students and friends, plus the occasional sad old git - me this time - making up a nice evening crowd.

Since change of ownership the standards have significantly dropped, waiting ages for food and poor customer service, over charged last we went in there.

8 of us went to this restaurant. 7 of my friends they order 7 Mix grill , I brought a sandwich from outside because i have dietary requirements. But they didn’t let me eat with my friends because they don’t allow food from outside so i had to eat my food in car. Very disappointing.

Several misunderstandings resulted in being given the wrong order. Tried to explain to manager and offered a simple solution (put the meat and salad in a pitta bread) but he became argumentative so I just left. Will process refund via credit card company.

Brilliant meal, we had a sharing platter and every element of the dish was delicious. Will definitely be back, and highly recommend.

Appalling service. I ordered a meal , then waited a 30minutes. They served 4 people before me ( they came in after me ) they said my order was taking longer to cook - it was only 2 starters and. Salad. I was very disappointed with this and left the restaurant- will not be returning

Having lived in Turkey for a couple of years, I didn't have high expectations when I walked into this place by chance. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The food here is absolutely amazing. We ordered a big mix to share and a couple of mezes, and every single dish was superb. The flavors were authentic and brought back wonderful memories of my time in Turkey. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. If you're looking for delicious Turkish food in Exeter, I totally recommend this place. It’s a hidden gem that deserves all five stars!

I've been few times and to me it's the best fast food place in town. However, I had a horrible experience last night and I'm really sad to leave this review, but it has to be done. I am prone to diabetes and last night on my way to the place I had a really bad hypoglycemia. I asked my friend to order and went inside and sat at a table feeling really unwell. They are usually very quick so I was being patient. Also, it wasn't a busy spell, so I was expecting to be served in maximum 10 minutes. Few minutes passed and my condition was getting worse. I walked to my friend and told her I'll take some coke because I was really dizzy, cold and shaky. I asked one of the employees to be quick and told him I had a health problem. He gave me the coke, but didn't show any empathy to my condition. I went back at the table and waited. Few minutes passed and my friend came to me to say that they don't let us have the chicken boxes in our table, because they are supposed to be a takeaway dish. I was shocked and extremely unwell. She said she asked them to grill something quick for the table to gain some strength. Few minutes passed again, but still nothing. I remembered my friend had gone to the supermarket before to buy some nuts, so I opened her bag and basically stole her nuts and started to eat. One of the employees got offended and asked me if everything was okay and said I'm waiting to be served and I'm extremely unwell and hungry. Almost half an hour later altogether still we weren't served, so my friend started an argument with an employee stating that I was feeling unwell. I even told him to give me some bread, anything to get going. He started shouting at us, saying we shouldn't have left our dinner the last moment and that even super markets serve food, so I should have gone there. I told many times I was suffering from a hypoglycemic episode and it's something that you cannot predict, it just happens. My kind request to the owner of the place, train and educate your staff about health problems and good manners. I am going to miss the food there, but you'll never see me again. I could have had a stroke, or fainted or even died, but you showed no manners, no education and no empathy. It's sad, but it happened.

I had a very lovely experience at Efes Grill that I had to go back. The food is incredible and the people are very nice and memorable. Two waiters were kind enough to remember me, Roddy and Amrut, and the addition of the wonderful atmosphere I highly recommend checking this place out.

Terrible food Dirty everywhere Toilet very very dirty. Stuff coming outside from serving area having tea and smoking, then run back in kitchen without cleaning their hands. Not to mention that the state of their clothing was terrible. When you are dealing with customers in front of serving area, you need to look tidy and clean. Looks like bums all of them. We've order the cold Mezze and was terrible. Hoummus taste terrible very stingy when tasted. You can fell that was not fresh. Dolmades, were those ones who can buy them in metal tins. Not home made & very dried inside. The only good thing was the cheese (on menu it says that is feta cheese, but was bulgarian cheese in tin). Bread was not home made, (was bought from next door Mesopotamia super market) and warm up in oven probably... I will not coming back @ this place ever... Thank you

Have lived in Exeter for quite few years now and this place has never disappointed me. Food is always amazing and the price has always stayed affordable. Would recommend for lunch, tea, dinner and late night food 😉 Efes will never disappoint!!! 👌

It's an okay Schwarma that's open late but for the price it's half filled and just doesn't feel like value for money

Excellent Turkish cuisine at reasonable prices

I celebrated my birthday by the end March in Efes. I had a great time with a group of around 15 friends! Efes is my fav food in Exeter, always amazing and taste dishes and Azad is specially great!

Efes is used to be my best place. Yesterday, I went there and ordered the food which wasn’t like every time, it was disgusting. The ribs weren’t fresh and I don’t feel good after going home.

best kebab place by far in Exeter, probably best one I‘ve been to in the UK - always friendly staff, quick to serve - the food is amazing and the menu is large and varied, meaning everyone will find something they like - recent renovations mean it is quite nice to sit in, although can feel a bit crammed when it gets busy for dinner - only downside is the slight increase in prices over the past year, but still a good place for both a sit-in or takeaway

Ordered a mixed schwoarma in a wrap. It was a good sized portion. Chicken/lamb wasn't too greasy. Salad was fresh. Only downside was that they didn't toast the wrap. Great value and taste for the money. Recommended 10/10

Efes is one of my favourite restaurants in Exeter. The food is freshly made with good portions and the staff are always friendly. Azad in particular has been a great server. This is an amazing place.

Efes is currently my vote for best kebab/Turkish food in Exeter. I lived for many years in Green Lanes, Harringay - a district of London often referred to as 'Little Istanbul' for its numerous authentic Turkish and Kurdish restaurants, bakeries and grocery shops. So I've got a taste for the authentic stuff! Efes is as close as Exeter gets to that. They win extra points for their lamb Shawarma (similar to Döner but with sliced lamb not minced). Their Kofte and Shish are charcoal grilled and their pitta breads are baked freshly on the premesis every day, and the salads are high quality. Despite this high standard, they have kept the price of a takeaway kebab at a very reasonable (by today's prices) £8. They're open until 3 or 4 am at weekends but my advice is to go earlier in the evening for the best food experience, as they tend to cut the range back to the bare essentials to keep the ravening post-club masses fed. There is space to sit and eat in the restaurant but the takeaway side of the business is so busy that it's sometimes overcrowded and the queue overtakes the seating area so maybe not one for an intimate tête a tête date night hence the slight lower score for 'atmosphere'. But if you're a fan of a high grade, healthy kebab you can enjoy sober, forget GDK, Efes is the one.

I frequent Efes regularly and have to say the team running it are fantastic. By far the number 1 place in Exeter and in my opinion in the south west for authentic Turkish cuisine. The food is absolutely phenomenal, accompanied by a great atmosphere. Efes is the place to be! Azad will always look after you!

Came here for late night food, ready to spend my £7 on a wrap, joined the queue with my friends, however I really needed to use the bathroom, so headed towards it, just to be shouted at from across the room that I’m not allowed to use it. I spent the next 10 minutes looking for anywhere I could go on Sidwell street and guys at Domino’s pizza were really kind to let me in. Needless to say that by the time I came back to Efes my friends were served and I would’ve had to stand a long queue all over again. Anyways I believe customers who are about to spend some money at your establishment should be allowed to use the bathroom, especially as a woman who can’t just go and relief myself in the alley way. I don’t want to support a business that doesn’t want to accommodate to its customers, so ended up not getting anything from here at all.

A beautiful place run by beautiful turkish delights. The juice that runs of that chicken doesn’t compare to the juice in my pants when i eat this food, a feeling no one else has made me feel. But like marriage, the pleasure in this relationship had decreased exponentially, and i am no longer satisfied.

What an incredible dining experience at this Turkish gem in the heart of the Exeter! The food here is simply outstanding, reminiscent of the culinary mastery of a Turkish culinary legend. Each dish was bursting with flavor, transporting me to the vibrant streets of Istanbul. Moreover, the service was impeccable, with a special shoutout to Azad, our waiter. His attention to detail and warm hospitality truly enhanced our lunch. He went above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable experience. I can't recommend this place highly enough. Whether you're a fan of Turkish cuisine or simply looking for an exceptional meal experience, this restaurant is a must-visit!

Speedy service, brilliant food, all at a great price! The time from ordering to walking out was less than a minute, yet the food was still fresh and tasted gorgeous. You couldn’t ask for better service. I tried the Chicken Kebab, which comes with the option of salad and two sauces, all free of charge. The chips were also incredible, and worth purchasing by themselves if you’re not too fussed about the meat. Chips were £3 for a very full box, and the Chicken Kebab was £7 in a bigger box. Both worth the price, especially the chips. My only complaint would be the lack of a Lamb Doner Kebab! Excellent service and food, will be returning.

I ordered a rap it was so dry and Chewy Even though I added plenty of sauce. The staff don't care about hygienes, One of them was touching his nose troll when he was making salad.

The staff was so rude and nasty, the food was very smelly. I don't know how come the council gave them license to operate. After I ate there. I was ill and feeling sick for three days.

The food, service and atmosphere was fantastic

I popped in for a cup of tea after shopping, which was offered to me on the house.  I couldn't resist the sigara borek. My portion was generous and delicious. I've shared the meza with a friend previously which was tasty and filling. Well worth visiting as the staff are friendly and the food is very good.

Amazing food and service , the guys were so friendly and welcoming and got us everything we needed . Could do with a couple more vegan options if possible but aside from that everything perfect. Also hands down the best homemade chilli sauce anywhere it’s incredible !! I would buy it by the bottle if I could. All the freshly baked hot breads that come out and 10/10 aswell

I come here regularly & can’t rave about the food enough! From the bread & dips with the fresh salad & the wide choice of main dishes everything is cooked to perfection. The portions are generous & the food is good quality. The chicken shish is my favourite. Staff are really friendly & accommodating, 100% recommend Efes!

Ordered a coffee and they were busy so it was forgotten about. Was very kindly given the coffee for free to make up for it.

Food: Food was good with the exception of the lamb ribs and chops. Lamb ribs were large strips of pure fat on a bone with the chops being under-seasoned and overcooked. Atmosphere: The restaurant was freezing cold in which we had to wear our coats whilst dining. Service: Waitress was lovely, fast service and attentive.
