Efes Grill in Exeter

Orderd the lamb shawarma wrap,last week and today aswell, both the times i found hair in my food, please make sure guys,your chefs wear a hair net or cap an follow the food safety. Disappointed

This was one of our favourite places to nip out to eat. Located in Exeter City centre on busy Sidwell Street, its a great vibe at night. But recently they have changed chefs, owners, workers or something and the level of service is not the same. It's a shame because their fish from the grill was insanely good and perfectly cooked. These guys are trying but the atmosphere is not the same, the service and care for customers is not like it was. Bring back your other Team please.

Sawarma maker is not a kind person. Although the shop is good.

We are pleasantly surprised by the quality of service. The staff knows their stuff, the first time they tipped with great desire.

I did not enjoy the rice, the salad could use some improvements too. I spent £37 in a meal for 2, I ate just the chicken shawarma, the rice, the salad needs some improvement. The service was good. I will recommend, the food choices are healthy though.

Best Turkish breakfast in Exeter! Everything was delicious and so much variety. The staff were friendly and lovely environment. Defo recommended. I will be back!

Food here is brilliant, especially the soup and bread which you get with a beautiful salad.

We went in for a quick snack. Had the meze - tasty, varied, really nicely done. It made us want to eat more so we ordered the daily special which was braised chicken with peppers. It was amazing. Regular grill is always good, but the special very special - tender, moist, so full of flavour. One of the best in Exeter!

The food took nearly 2hrs to get hear my salad consisted of mainly onions, the kofta tasted weird like it was on the turn before being cooked, my chicken shish consisted of about 4 small pieces of chicken.

So a mushroom burger is a beef burger with mushroom. Vegetarian seemed to be an alien concept when asked the staff assured us it was a 'mushroom burger.' Owner offered to give us extra chips instead of our 7 pound purchase. Weird. Frankly an annoying end to a wonderful evening.

Awful food! The kebab meat was overcooked, they serve garlic mayonnaise, why (??), it should be a type of yogurt, the salad was mainly ice burg lettuce and the rice had sweetcorn in (WTF). There are far, far better Middle Eastern kebab places and restaurants around. The service was okay, the man in charge knew what he was doing, though a younger guy was clueless! The place seems to have individuals from the local community working there, this meant a lot of people going in and out of the kitchen, the hygiene is certainly questionable, my partner saw one of the kitchen staff use the toilet with his apron on!! Never going again!

Ordered Mixed Kofte Saturday evening & although the food tasted really good it left me with a severe case of gastroenteritis. A bit TMI but have been dealing with awful diarrhoea & cramping abdominal pain the following day.. I can’t recommend this place because of that. Perhaps the food wasn’t cooked throughly, not sure.

Gone down hill recently, used to be amazing..

The once great efes grill has become what most people in the uk associate with crappy donar kebab. What was once the pinnacle of the uk kebab scene has become an utter disgrace! Poor portions compared to a year ago, the meat is kept in a bain Marie, and my kebab yesterday came with only lettuce and sauces leaving a soggy experience. It make me sad to have to write this review because this was a top kebab house which has dramatically let itself go. Don't bother and go to mega kebab they will load you up with a decent salad and freshly shaved meat.

Amazing Service from a waiter I had by the name of Yasin. He was extremely kind and charismatic. I recommend him to anyone eating in here. Amazing service and extremely surprising from the young lad.

Kebab houses are widely seen as low grade food for drunk people. This is often the case but when you find an authentic one often the food can be good. I have visited many over the years and Efes Grill is outstanding! All the food was beautifully cooked and presented. The lamb was tender and delicious. This is now my favourite Kebab house in Britain

Very disappointed me and my partner got a chicken wrap, from this restaurant yesterday. We both were a bit unimpressed with the taste and never have had problems before. We carried on eating it as didn’t want to waste and when we got to the bottom the chicken was chewy and cold to our disbelief we unwrapped it and saw raw chicken. I have now been sent home from work the following day and have been sick twice with a fever.

Been here a few times now when in town on business. Always dinned in. Enjoyed it this time too but noticed the portions not as big this time. Still filling so don't worry. Bread is amazing as is the fresh salad. Always seems busy and that says a lot!

Feel Very disrespected and disappointed . The staff took orders and after 45 min he came back and asked us again what was our order. He even don’t know what was we ordered and he we asked he said to us they are preparing and after 45 min he came again asked for our order. They even don’t apologise and we cancelled our order and moved Wout from there

Travelling. Found this on Google. Can confirm its halal. Not far from city centre. Good was absolutely beautiful the chicken and lamb swarma is 100% meat and you can tell the quality. Recommend going here. Great decor and service

Had lunch today along with my husband, poor service,never check back if the food was alright, we ordered the mix grill and lamb shawarma, the rice was not fresh on both the dishes, lamb kofte was a bit off, and never got our chips. Complete disappointment

It's my favourite place to eat for authentic Turkish food in Exeter. Portions are very generous, and everything is cooked fresh to order. Kebabs are excellent here.

Great people and delicious food

I've never enjoyed couscous- until tonight. Delicious, and the smells of grilled meat and veg were a big part of the experience. The beer tasted a little of honey, which was pleasant and the coffee was also a new experience. The atmosphere was a little rowdy or otherwise generally louder but positive.

Shawarma has been severely burnt every time, the cooks do not seem to care about the food that they put out. Wait time is ridiculous, no organisation. Felt my custom came at an inconvenience. Ate here a couple of times, the only reason I gave two star is because the waiting staff are very friendly and helpful. Overall I would not recommend and will not continue to spend money there.

Absolutely the best Turkish food in this part of Devon, it immediately reminds me of the flavors of Istanbul, I recommend it to everyone👌💥

I came inside the restaurant wasn’t greeted I took a seat my self after waiting 20 minutes I asked the chef if he could give me the menu because waiter was busy on the till and didn’t acknowledge me waiting for his service bought mix grill was one of the tinniest portion I had in uk also you don’t get a restaurant vibe feel like a takeaway it said on the menu 2 ribs I got one other one was less then half I was still starving so I had to get chicken doner wrap which also was disappointing in taste and quantity n quality not recommended if your hungry 😋

The atmosphere and the service was great and is always a brilliant start but…Well I had the kofte which I had to return as it was kind of dry and crispy. The one I got back was better but similar. I didn't’ finish it all as it was just weird. If it had been in my cafe I would have been mortified. The salad, rice, onion salad, bulga wheat and sauces were lovely. And effes beer is of course a winner.

Another totally excellent dinner at Efes Grill! The standard Lamb Shish generously comes with rice, bulgar wheat, a little onion salad, big side salad (loads of vinegar dressing), soft fresh sesame bread, chilli dip and yogurt dip. The meat is tender, no gristle or fat, cooked to a smoky perfection and a little pink in the middle. All for £14.95 - bargain! Super team, from the waiting staff to the chefs and kitchen crew - friendly and positive vibes. A lovely atmosphere as always, a real mix of ages, ethnicities and types of groups - families, couples, students and friends, plus the occasional sad old git - me this time - making up a nice evening crowd.

Since change of ownership the standards have significantly dropped, waiting ages for food and poor customer service, over charged last we went in there.

8 of us went to this restaurant. 7 of my friends they order 7 Mix grill , I brought a sandwich from outside because i have dietary requirements. But they didn’t let me eat with my friends because they don’t allow food from outside so i had to eat my food in car. Very disappointing.

Several misunderstandings resulted in being given the wrong order. Tried to explain to manager and offered a simple solution (put the meat and salad in a pitta bread) but he became argumentative so I just left. Will process refund via credit card company.

Brilliant meal, we had a sharing platter and every element of the dish was delicious. Will definitely be back, and highly recommend.

Appalling service. I ordered a meal , then waited a 30minutes. They served 4 people before me ( they came in after me ) they said my order was taking longer to cook - it was only 2 starters and. Salad. I was very disappointed with this and left the restaurant- will not be returning

Having lived in Turkey for a couple of years, I didn't have high expectations when I walked into this place by chance. However, I was pleasantly surprised! The food here is absolutely amazing. We ordered a big mix to share and a couple of mezes, and every single dish was superb. The flavors were authentic and brought back wonderful memories of my time in Turkey. The staff were friendly and attentive, making the experience even better. If you're looking for delicious Turkish food in Exeter, I totally recommend this place. It’s a hidden gem that deserves all five stars!

I've been few times and to me it's the best fast food place in town. However, I had a horrible experience last night and I'm really sad to leave this review, but it has to be done. I am prone to diabetes and last night on my way to the place I had a really bad hypoglycemia. I asked my friend to order and went inside and sat at a table feeling really unwell. They are usually very quick so I was being patient. Also, it wasn't a busy spell, so I was expecting to be served in maximum 10 minutes. Few minutes passed and my condition was getting worse. I walked to my friend and told her I'll take some coke because I was really dizzy, cold and shaky. I asked one of the employees to be quick and told him I had a health problem. He gave me the coke, but didn't show any empathy to my condition. I went back at the table and waited. Few minutes passed and my friend came to me to say that they don't let us have the chicken boxes in our table, because they are supposed to be a takeaway dish. I was shocked and extremely unwell. She said she asked them to grill something quick for the table to gain some strength. Few minutes passed again, but still nothing. I remembered my friend had gone to the supermarket before to buy some nuts, so I opened her bag and basically stole her nuts and started to eat. One of the employees got offended and asked me if everything was okay and said I'm waiting to be served and I'm extremely unwell and hungry. Almost half an hour later altogether still we weren't served, so my friend started an argument with an employee stating that I was feeling unwell. I even told him to give me some bread, anything to get going. He started shouting at us, saying we shouldn't have left our dinner the last moment and that even super markets serve food, so I should have gone there. I told many times I was suffering from a hypoglycemic episode and it's something that you cannot predict, it just happens. My kind request to the owner of the place, train and educate your staff about health problems and good manners. I am going to miss the food there, but you'll never see me again. I could have had a stroke, or fainted or even died, but you showed no manners, no education and no empathy. It's sad, but it happened.

I had a very lovely experience at Efes Grill that I had to go back. The food is incredible and the people are very nice and memorable. Two waiters were kind enough to remember me, Roddy and Amrut, and the addition of the wonderful atmosphere I highly recommend checking this place out.

Terrible food Dirty everywhere Toilet very very dirty. Stuff coming outside from serving area having tea and smoking, then run back in kitchen without cleaning their hands. Not to mention that the state of their clothing was terrible. When you are dealing with customers in front of serving area, you need to look tidy and clean. Looks like bums all of them. We've order the cold Mezze and was terrible. Hoummus taste terrible very stingy when tasted. You can fell that was not fresh. Dolmades, were those ones who can buy them in metal tins. Not home made & very dried inside. The only good thing was the cheese (on menu it says that is feta cheese, but was bulgarian cheese in tin). Bread was not home made, (was bought from next door Mesopotamia super market) and warm up in oven probably... I will not coming back @ this place ever... Thank you

Have lived in Exeter for quite few years now and this place has never disappointed me. Food is always amazing and the price has always stayed affordable. Would recommend for lunch, tea, dinner and late night food 😉 Efes will never disappoint!!! 👌

Excellent Turkish cuisine at reasonable prices

Efes is used to be my best place. Yesterday, I went there and ordered the food which wasn’t like every time, it was disgusting. The ribs weren’t fresh and I don’t feel good after going home.

I celebrated my birthday by the end March in Efes. I had a great time with a group of around 15 friends! Efes is my fav food in Exeter, always amazing and taste dishes and Azad is specially great!

best kebab place by far in Exeter, probably best one I‘ve been to in the UK - always friendly staff, quick to serve - the food is amazing and the menu is large and varied, meaning everyone will find something they like - recent renovations mean it is quite nice to sit in, although can feel a bit crammed when it gets busy for dinner - only downside is the slight increase in prices over the past year, but still a good place for both a sit-in or takeaway

Ordered a mixed schwoarma in a wrap. It was a good sized portion. Chicken/lamb wasn't too greasy. Salad was fresh. Only downside was that they didn't toast the wrap. Great value and taste for the money. Recommended 10/10
