Not sure why there are negative reviews, I stayed here for 12 nights, room was quiet, couldnt hear the noise at night, very comfortable bed, good nights sleep most nights, breakfast was good, staff were friendly and attentive especially at night.10/10 from me to you.

Hotel is very dated, damp musty smell on entry and in the ladies toilets behind reception. There is a monstrosity of a metal wheelchair ramp leading in through the front doors.....very loud to use and potentially a serious accident waiting to happen. The only meals i had was breakfast , it was average. Coffee machine which took ages and the coffee wasn't that great. The staff were very friendly and efficient though

We stayed for 1 night here and we were very pleased with our stay. The staff at reception were very welcoming and greeted us with a “how’s your day been” we stayed in a privilege king room and were very impressed. It was spacious and clean and had lots of amenities. (Free wifi, kettle, complimentary water, coffee, teas, hot chocolate, biscuits, fanta, coke, hairdryer, ironing board, robes, slippers) there is NO air conditioning but they do provide a large fan. We did not have breakfast as it was £16.50 per person which i thought was too much personally. The only downside we had was that our TV didn’t work at least we couldn’t get it to work. But i wasn’t bothered as we didn’t really mind about having a tv. Overall a really nice stay and we would definitely consider coming back. Thank you

Visited for function staff friendly, food poor, small portions and undercooked. Not enough staff to cover the event. Room cost was expensive for what turned out to be an average hotel. Spoilt an occasion that we been looking forward too for a long time.

Right in the centre of town (in front of Exeter Central). This has its upsides and downside. The downside being the noise from the bars on the same street. They upgraded us to a privelege room which is great. However, the hotel doesn't seem to have A/C and as we were there on the hottest day of the year, this was not super comfortable. The hotel could use a bit of updating, the carpet seems dirty and old. Overall we had a good experience, but have not seen other hotels in the area, so might be worth shopping around before choosing this as your accomodation.

The staff were very helpful and friendly. Bedroom was comfortable and clean. Surprised to see a lovely wedding anniversary decoration on the bed. The Breakfast is rather disappointing, quality was a bit lower. Scrambled egg was poor. Fruits look like less fresh ?

The company I work for had a meeting there. ✔️ Close to the train station, even walkable from St Davids if you're happy with hills. ✔️ Super Friendly staff ✔️ Tea and coffee provided was good ✖️ Lunch was basic and not particularly pleasant, neither was the granola bar things provided with the coffee. I'd recommend seeking food elsewhere based on the short visit I had. ✔️ The foyer had lots of seats and some with power sockets which was very handy for us. ✔️ Toilets were nice, clean and well maintained 〰️ Can't comment on the rooms as I didn't stay.

Handy location in city centre with an old world quality. Was here for a meeting in one of the hired meeting rooms. Coffee could have been hotter and the lunch was nice but not very generous.

Excellent location and friendly staff. My room was very large and mostly clean. As a gold customer, I received an upgrade and small amenities, and a late check-out was also possible. Except for the bathroom being too small and the walls and doors being noisy, everything was great.

They employ a cowboy parking firm "ParkingEye" to issue £100 charges. I didn't even know their carpark was paid and was sat in the car for 20 minutes while someone went to a test in the hotel. I am now being pursued in claims court by ParkingEye and the bill is now £205!!!!!!

Disappointing Experience with Parking at Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel After a recent visit to the Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel, I feel compelled to share my experience with their parking facilities, which, unfortunately, fell significantly short of expectations. Labeling the parking situation as a "scam" might seem harsh, but it succinctly sums up the frustration and disillusionment I felt during my stay. The most disheartening aspect, however, was the lack of empathy and assistance from the hotel staff when I raised my concerns. A more understanding and customer-focused approach could have significantly mitigated the situation. I had hoped for a pleasant stay at the Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel, given its reputation and the quality I've come to expect from the Mercure brand. Unfortunately, the parking experience cast a shadow over my visit, leading me to reconsider future stays and to advise potential guests to be wary of the parking situation. I genuinely hope this feedback serves as a constructive criticism for the hotel to improve its parking facilities and communication, ensuring that future guests do not face similar inconveniences.

This hotel acts like gangsters with the parking. You are obligated to pay big fines if you stop at all in the parking lot. Even just to enter the hotel for a moment. AVOID

A group of us met in Topsham for a walk and lunch. Not knowing how many would turn up, I had booked for 12. In the event, there were 17 all keen for a lunch. All credit to the team at The Lighter for accommodating us all on a very busy day, even managing when we turned up an hour earlier than planned. The food was excellent, the service too. Wholeheartedly recommend the smoky fish pie. Best fish pie I have ever eaten, and I have tasted quite a lot. Well done chef. Handshake from the South Devon Ramblers.
