Excellent location directly opposite the train station & less than a minute’s walk into the city centre. Very helpful staff. Beds could be comfier (stayed in multiple rooms) & hotel is noisy - both very loud creaky floors on all levels & adjacent to the college with associated drunk students in the early hours of the morning.

Upon opening my door I was greeted with a cold room in which the radiator wasn’t even turned on. The room and bathroom was very clean. On my final night there was a disco of some sort in one of the function rooms, this kept me awake until 1AM, this was very inconvenient as i had a very important day ahead of me, nothing was mentioned to me when booking about an event taking place on this day. Overall a nice place but i am a little disappointed about the coldness of the room.

Visited here on a work Xmas party, nice decor food was very average, staff very attentive. Parking very limited. Reasonable evening all in all. I didn’t stay the evening so can’t comment on the rooms.

Receptionist was amazing, the room was clean and easy to find. All of the rooms there are lovely and it's very easy to access. The rooms on floor 4 were the best in my opinion as one had a sofa in though, and it would have been nice to have a bit of Aircon because I woke up with a sore throat. Other than that, great experience, staff are just the best here, it makes check in and check out so much quicker and easier to do. I would highly recommend over other places in Exeter!

There was a Christmas party on the first night which meant it was busy, the furniture had been removed from the lobby and it was impossible to get food. We were given the room service number but it did not work. When we went to our rooms there were additional beds in there for no good reason (I checked our booking, we'd only booked for 2 adults 2 children) which made the rooms very cluttered. There was no way we needed 8 beds! The rooms were a little dated and could do with a refresh. We usually come to the hotel every Christmas but the magic just wasn't there this time so it will be our last. On the plus side the staff were absolutely lovely on reception. They are an asset to your hotel.

Over night stay for an event at the Exeter Phoenix. Our room was very clean, warm, comfortable and spacious with Tea & Coffee facilities. We were informed of a Christmas party in the hotel which did not disturb us. Very limited parking of which we were aware but used the car park opposite.

Visiting friends and family for a weekend. The hotel was very friendly and clean although we were very disappointed that breakfast wasn't included with the very high heavy price 😕

Visited for a wedding last weekend and the hotel and staff were all amazing! Lovely rooms, well upkept and clean. Will and Molly on the bar were fabulous and the F&B Supervisor, Jake overseeing the ceremony was so attentive and on top of everything. Thank you all for making it such a lovely experience for the guests and the wedding party!

Excellent location opposite the central Exeter train station I have fond memories from my younger days, and the Drake's bar adjoining the hotel was our best friend's meeting place every weekend, going back 50 years ago lol The main thing is it is still a great hotel in a prime location, Parking is at a minimum, Very warm and cosy, the staff are wonderful 💯 Must stay and try ,

I have just stayed at the Mercure Rougemont Exeter hotel for 9 days and all I can say is that it was the most wonderful hotel experience I have ever had. I can honestly say we felt like part of the family while we were there. My colleagues and I were there for work and every single person who works at this hotel was incredible! Jake, the manger was extremely helpful and welcoming, Kara and Rachel on reception, along with all the other front of house team were fabulous! They greeted us every day as friends, nothing was too much trouble and while I was there it was my birthday and they went above and beyond to make me feel special while I was away from home. The team at breakfast and the housekeeping team were lovely and although I was looking forward to getting home, I was also sad to leave the team and the hotel behind. I would fully recommend this hotel to everyone and when I am down in Exeter again I will not be staying anywhere else.

Definitely not a 4* hotel, the hotel itself could be beautiful but it's been neglected over time. A lot of the areas within the hotel are quite shabby and worn. The rooms don't have air-conditioning as I'm sure it may not be possible, however, the heating also could not be turned off and was therefore boiling. The staff were good, polite and attentive, it's a shame that the overall upkeep let's it down!

Hotel is very dated, damp musty smell on entry and in the ladies toilets behind reception. There is a monstrosity of a metal wheelchair ramp leading in through the front doors.....very loud to use and potentially a serious accident waiting to happen. The only meals i had was breakfast , it was average. Coffee machine which took ages and the coffee wasn't that great. The staff were very friendly and efficient though

We stayed for 1 night here and we were very pleased with our stay. The staff at reception were very welcoming and greeted us with a “how’s your day been” we stayed in a privilege king room and were very impressed. It was spacious and clean and had lots of amenities. (Free wifi, kettle, complimentary water, coffee, teas, hot chocolate, biscuits, fanta, coke, hairdryer, ironing board, robes, slippers) there is NO air conditioning but they do provide a large fan. We did not have breakfast as it was £16.50 per person which i thought was too much personally. The only downside we had was that our TV didn’t work at least we couldn’t get it to work. But i wasn’t bothered as we didn’t really mind about having a tv. Overall a really nice stay and we would definitely consider coming back. Thank you

Visited for function staff friendly, food poor, small portions and undercooked. Not enough staff to cover the event. Room cost was expensive for what turned out to be an average hotel. Spoilt an occasion that we been looking forward too for a long time.

Right in the centre of town (in front of Exeter Central). This has its upsides and downside. The downside being the noise from the bars on the same street. They upgraded us to a privelege room which is great. However, the hotel doesn't seem to have A/C and as we were there on the hottest day of the year, this was not super comfortable. The hotel could use a bit of updating, the carpet seems dirty and old. Overall we had a good experience, but have not seen other hotels in the area, so might be worth shopping around before choosing this as your accomodation.

The company I work for had a meeting there. ✔️ Close to the train station, even walkable from St Davids if you're happy with hills. ✔️ Super Friendly staff ✔️ Tea and coffee provided was good ✖️ Lunch was basic and not particularly pleasant, neither was the granola bar things provided with the coffee. I'd recommend seeking food elsewhere based on the short visit I had. ✔️ The foyer had lots of seats and some with power sockets which was very handy for us. ✔️ Toilets were nice, clean and well maintained 〰️ Can't comment on the rooms as I didn't stay.

Excellent location and friendly staff. My room was very large and mostly clean. As a gold customer, I received an upgrade and small amenities, and a late check-out was also possible. Except for the bathroom being too small and the walls and doors being noisy, everything was great.

This hotel acts like gangsters with the parking. You are obligated to pay big fines if you stop at all in the parking lot. Even just to enter the hotel for a moment. AVOID

Disappointing Experience with Parking at Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel After a recent visit to the Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel, I feel compelled to share my experience with their parking facilities, which, unfortunately, fell significantly short of expectations. Labeling the parking situation as a "scam" might seem harsh, but it succinctly sums up the frustration and disillusionment I felt during my stay. The most disheartening aspect, however, was the lack of empathy and assistance from the hotel staff when I raised my concerns. A more understanding and customer-focused approach could have significantly mitigated the situation. I had hoped for a pleasant stay at the Mercure Exeter Rougemont Hotel, given its reputation and the quality I've come to expect from the Mercure brand. Unfortunately, the parking experience cast a shadow over my visit, leading me to reconsider future stays and to advise potential guests to be wary of the parking situation. I genuinely hope this feedback serves as a constructive criticism for the hotel to improve its parking facilities and communication, ensuring that future guests do not face similar inconveniences.

They employ a cowboy parking firm "ParkingEye" to issue £100 charges. I didn't even know their carpark was paid and was sat in the car for 20 minutes while someone went to a test in the hotel. I am now being pursued in claims court by ParkingEye and the bill is now £205!!!!!!

A quick coffee turned into like 30 minutes. Staff were too busy doing not much to attend to me. Ordered and then had to wait. Coffee was bitter, and the atmosphere was miserable. Felt depressed so left.

This is my favourite Chinese restaurant. Food is delicious, full of flavour and freshly made. It’s a family run business and the place is really welcoming. I definitely recommend it. The menu has a lot of choice and the portions are more than generous.
