Po Lee Chinese Takeaway in Exeter

Absolutely appalling service, waited nearly 4 hours for a delivery! Ordered early as knew it would be busy understandably as nye but they estimated an hour an a half, after 2 hours I called up to be told it was out for delivery, complete lie, phoned up again to be told it was cooking and be out within 15 minutes, called up again 40 minutes later to be told it was out for delivery, no apology about the wait at any time! My husband was on his way there to get a refund when it eventually turned up, shouldn't accept the orders if can't fulfill them in a reasonable time! Will not use again.

Ate half of my chicken curry, looked down at my chicken and noticed it wasn’t even cooked. Took a picture and went back only to be refused a refund because they don’t refund you if the food has been opened… what a ridiculous logic. How on earth are you supposed to know if your food is bad without opening it? Absolutely shocking. Reported to trading standards and will never ever return. £80 worth of Chinese as well, absolutely appalling. If I get sick, I will be livid.

Delivery was supposed to be 1 hour but 3 hours later still not received it

What has happened to Po Lee? Has there been a change of ownership? We been ordering for years, but no more 😡 What dreadful service being put on hold for 10 mins each time I called, to check a delivery which took 2.75 hours!!! Never again ...

Not great. Very bland and tasteless. Portion sizes are generous however but I won’t be returning.

The chicken balls (or chicken in batter as they refer to it) is to die for! Lots of meat and less batter and very crispy. All of the food was delicious and according to my girlfriend they have been in the area for as long as she can remember and she is 39 so they obviously are a well run establishment. I would always get my food from here when getting Chinese. Whilst the restaurant itself does not look modern or accommodating, it was friendly and quick when ordering.

Good Chinese, probably best in the local area hence it's popularity, there in is the main issue, very slow service when it's busy, ordered online, arrived for collection after the 25 min it said it would be, only to be waiting another 20 mins when I got there. Would recommend on a quiet day.

Food is always excellent and great customer service, they also gave us a beauitful new year calendar. Would highly recommend 👌

Went to po Lee order came to £36 paid £26 cash and she took £21 on card not realising this till returning home, got home and order was wrong couldn’t get through to the phone. Drove back and the receptionist called us a liar no refund for overcharging £10!! Back home again food was cold!! This place has no customer skills and respect for their customers we have been going to po Lee since moving out here 5 years ago never going back again!! Absolutely poor

Literally the worst chicken ball and Singapour chow mein I have ever eaten. Literally everything just tasted of pepper! So much so it couldn't be eaten! Rang up and complained all I could hear was the chef shouting in Chinese in the background no apology no refund expecting me to bring the food back! Discusted with their customer care. Don't go there I advise.

Just moved to the area of Pinhoe Exeter. Wanted a Chinese takeaway chose Po Lee. Set meal A for 2 people and chips. Good value, hot and perhaps enough for 4 people 😉. Will use again

Went in last night to get my dinner thought i would go round and treat the parents also. Normally i never have a problem food is always good however last night was terrible i had 2 portions of chips both of wich were dry and well over done 2 pancake rolls both of wich smelt and tasted off and a special chow mein that my mother said had a bitter taste. Woken up today with really bad stomach spoken with parents and they have the same. Will defo not be going back there again and if anyone asks me if its any good my answer will most definitely be NO. Such a shame as they always used to be great there.

Used po lee for years but the last 2 time Iv been it’s been shocking not sure if it’s been took over but won’t be returning

Possibly the worst meal I’ve ever had, everything lacked flavour , chicken satay , Singapore chow mein , veg curry , chines pork fried rice everything was bland . Oriental city was closed so thought I’d give Po Lee a try , never again will I use this place. Seriously bad, I never leave reviews but in this case had too.

Having made my first visit after passing it daily. Should have made the decision earlier.

Customer service is shocking Chinese woman on the phone is rude & completely useless & unhelpful... I would avoid go to mingwah so much better and lovely and polite

Burnt prawn toast and chicken balls we won't be ordering those again but the rest of the food was nice. If i were to take a guess I'd say the prawn toast and chicken balls were re cooked from the previous night

Not a bad Chinese. But wrecked by long waits as on line order massively prioritized leading to nearly an hour stood outside.

This was a very mediocre Chinese, the spare ribs were sub par and so was the chicken lemon. The people here giving 5 stars either haven't eaten at a good Chinese or like cheap Chinese food.

Used them for years, great local Chinese. The curry is fab, and try the bbq sauce with chips!!

Frist time we have used this place ordered some food I was very disappointed in the quality the chicken in the chicken curry was absolutely appalling the egg fried rice had Hardly any egg in it and was very Bland unfortunately I will not be returning

Great food, fast service, great value for portion size

First and last time we use. Egg fried rice was all brown and greasy, no sign of egg. Chicken satay was something.... not satay. Rest of the dishes were all greasy and tasteless and 2 of us had to run to the loo after. 👎👎

We haven't been here for a year now, the food was a mixed bag, ribs were a bit sinuous and hard work, the spring rolls were tasty and very big! What spoilt it was the MSG, tasty at the time but not so good when you cant sleep.

I usually get excellent take away from Po Lee but recently bought a Chicken curry and it was awful, it had disgusting reconstituted reclaimed meat mush for the chicken and could not finish it. I did complain to Po Lee but with their broken English protested that they only use real chicken pieces, a blatant lie. I gave them another chance and this time found they again used chicken mush, prawns?? and other unidentifiable meat shapes and again could not finish the meal, it was truly disgusting. I wont waste my time complaining again, instead will do this review. Po Lee was usually our Take-Away of choice, but can assure them that we will never be back.going to try the one next door Oriental City next time. Really disappointed with Po Lee and will never use again

Awful Chinese takeaway food earlier this week, most of which was cold and cloggy and went into bin. Tried again tonite with fish and chips...what can I say.. you cut into the fish and uncooked batter oozed out, fish was cold in middle and chips obviously reheated, dry and soggy. Have used this place for years....never again .

Always a great service from Po Lee, friendly and the portion sizes are great! To make a pun of the name, after eating, I have never felt poorly. An enjoyable, quickly prepared meal with fantastic service, I would recommend Po Lee to any localised inhabitants.

Good authentic Chinese food and not expensive

I love this take away. Though, it doesn't have a website - well not that I could find anyway. I've never been a lover of Asian food but have really gotten into it and have tried a couple of places and this one is by far the best. I'm addicted to their pancake rolls. Very reasonably priced and food is hot and delicious. They also do a couple of extra dishes that aren't on the main menu but can be found inside on the wall. Never had a bad meal from here. Staff are lovely. It's my favourite take away for Chinese food. :)
