The best restaurants in Cotswold South West

Beer was good, glasses clean. Food was good, but we were not warned about fresh-from-the-oven hot bowl for the chips. Ouch. Oh, and a long hair in the burger. Grubby. Who wipes bogies on toilet walls? Regulars? Staff? Japanese tourists? Who can say, but the amount was disgusting and unusually tolerated by the management. Why is it tolerated? Because it hadn’t been cleaned off! The regulars had a great rapport with staff- nice to see, so I’d hate for it to be a regular wiping biohazards on the gent’s toilets wall seeing as they’re mates with the bar staff. Tables were wiped down, but it was hard to discern which one was done first and when with the “hot soapy water” as they all had a sticky lacquer on them. The tables and the table cutlery/ packet sauce holder were grubby. Cleaning , whilst a chore, is necessary in food service establishments, at daily intervals. Booked a table in advance, which was held for us, but rich mouthy cry-baby boomers kicked off about not being able to sit together in their group of 8. Poorly managed by the staff- just felt inexperienced and clumsy. We moved our party and at least got the drinks on the house. Boomers didn’t have the courtesy/ decency to actually ask us…they used the young manager to do the deed. Not the fault of the pub, but there’s a training need for how to handle people and customers there. Watch out for already included and assumed service charge (15% IIRC?), which is presumptuous and not necessarily earned. What do we tip for? Service? Food? Cleanliness? No bogies? Hard to say what the pub is- it’s affordable with reasonable beer and food, but it’s not a professional establishment. The level of cleaning and management inexperience showed this. Have used this pub on and off for >20yrs, this is the worst it’s been. Sad to see this in a place with such an exclusive location.

We booked a table online for a 50th birthday celebration, we asked for a quiet area if possible for our table. When we arrived we didn’t get a very warm welcome, they didn’t seem to even know about our booking so no table had been reserved for us. Vibe was not good, so we went somewhere else. Very disappointing wouldn’t return.

Awful quality of food. Substandard classification of food. I would highly recommend NOT eating from this place ever. Chicken was not chicken. Crispy beef was basically just batter. Not even the seaweed was edible.

Worst spot ever, avoid. Food ain't that great and the staff aren't interested if you have any kind of problem. Told them I won't order from them again and I'd advise order from any of the other local kebab/pizza places.

Went for champagne afternoon tea. The good: staff helpful, food quality ok, nice fire. About as much atmosphere as a motorway service area. Value for money very poor. Reservation a waste of time-seated in bar area at unset up table—was told lounge unavailable due to a conference—so why accept res? Brushing up while we were eating…not good!

We had a drink on the terrace which was overlooking the Lake, it was a lovely sunny day so we decided to have Sunday lunch here too. The food arrived within about five minutes of ordering it which I thought was fast, the restaurant was half empty though so it wasn’t like they were rushed off their feet so I thought maybe that’s why. I had the fillet beef and Yorkshire pudding Sunday roast, the meat wasn’t that nice, it was two extremely thin slices and had fatty bits all over it, the potatoes were new potatoes with a bit of browning on the outside, I was expecting roast potatoes, and there was a bit of veg and a huge Yorkshire pudding on the plate, the food was luke warm so for the price of £22 I wasn’t that impressed, my partner had a lamb roast and said he liked it but it wasn’t a patch on my cooking. He also had a pudding which for the price was tiny. The staff were all very friendly and the place was lovely but I wouldn’t go back for food unless they changed the chef.

What a great hotel, i made my booking direct and dealt with Liberty who was so lovely and helpful. If anyone is thinking of staying i 100% recommend you stay here. The room was charmfully quirky with the best view. Breakfast was amazing and we had 1 dinner which was yummy.

Can’t recommend any of the food and a very noisy restaurant. Staff are pleasant and attentive but that’s as good as it gets

We were really hungry after a long journey and saw the golden arches. Nice and clean and staff were friendly. The fries were hot which was nice for a change

Fish shop is outstanding, always clean tanks with Healthy looking fish. Matt and team are very helpful and knowledgeable.

Toronto Lounge Cirencester Gloucester, the food was absolutely beautiful, freshly made, and very tasty, and most are gluten-free. I had the rice bowl with prawns chicken topped with an egg. The team was very friendly, helpful, and polite. The setting is an old theme, a very unique and quirky restaurant They would check in if you are enjoying the meal. Unfortunately, I didn't take photos. the food was lush and presented well. Definitely will visit again. 5 star ratings

I am trying to review The Riverside Restaurant, not the area The area is lovely but the restaurant bar is sadly lacking. More of a ‘do it yourself’ cafe. Find your own table, search for a menu, try to catch a waitress to clean your table. Queue to order food from a dead pan unfriendly lady. One positive, we did not have to wait long for food, but when we got it was not good. Fish very very greasy, chips not crispy, peas well no problem with frozen peas. Not a pleasant experience and staff looked fed up.

Wow. Came in and had 2 coffees within our membership card and what can I tell you about the service , nothing springs to mind but it was terrible staff looked disinterested and the coffee provided more heartbreak. Dobbies cirencester is going from bad to worse. why do we go on trying to inflict this awful experience here. To be quite honest if I was to do the same to my customers I would be broke in a week. This place / restaurant is worth a great big swerve go elsewhere for coffee....

Second week in a row that the service, after ordering & paying, was very slow. 10+ mins for a drink to be served strikes me as very slow! No apology!
