Old Manse Hotel Restaurant in Cotswold

Turned up for a quick lunch as a party of 5, the town was very busy, but the staff at the Manse were able to help us and were very attentive. The food was of a good quality and reasonable value. Had the weather been bettwe we would have sat outside in what is an attractive seating area.

We had a very enjoyable meal and felt very well looked after, so much so that we cancelled a booking we had at another pub and booked again at the Old Manse Hotel, and much to our surprise, it was even better!! So I would strongly recommend this place for a meal

Went here for dinner last night and it was a very busy little pub . The staff were very friendly . We had fish and chips , shared a nacho, garlic cheese bread and chicken strips . The meals were a good price and reasonable size . Would recommend this place for a good meal . It was nice and close to our accommodation

Bourton on the Water is a beautiful place it is a shame the same cannot be said about the food served at The Old Manse. With very limited choice for my dietary requirements, (gluten and dairy free I was limited to having a steak with jacket potato and some salad. The steak when it arrived was as tough as old boots so I informed the waitress who i felt was very reluctant to change it. Having sat there whilst my fellow diners finished their meals I was eventually presented with my replacement meal. This time the jacket potato was still frozen in the middle. This is not acceptable in any way. ...basic cooking or should I say microwaving!!! All that time waiting to be presented with an inedible plate of food. I would not recommend anyone to go and dine there especially if you have some extra requirements

We went for lunch and really enjoyed it so then went for breakfast next day. Good service, good food what more can you ask for. Breakfast far superior to Bakery on the water which is opposite

Went for our honeymoon. The hotel was lovely very clean and comfy. Situated in a perfect location. The food was amazing and all the staff were very friendly helpful and welcoming especially Keelan who went above and beyond for us. Thank you to ALL the staff for making a very special occasion even more special. In fact before we even left we have booked up for next year on our anniversary and WILL be visiting the hotel and staff just before Christmas . Thanks again.

Sunday lunch booking and the food did not disappoint We ordered 5 roasts and 1 a la carte meal. They all came out together and the waitress brought us extra gravy as the portion was a little small Great food with great attention from Cristina & Teaghan Minor issue with the local beers which came out full of ‘bits’ but these were swapped with no fuss at all Would definitely return

Congratulations to Ricardo for the way this place is run We are here tonight and had a wonderful meal all 8 of us. So good in fact that we have booked again for another meal very shortly. We had a variety of meals off the menu and each and every one of us commented of how good this establishment was. Lamb shank fell off the bone, the salmon was cooked to perfection, the steak and ale pie was sublime. The wonderful staff here deserve recognition. Well done again to you all. Awful - never had a worst roast, - everything was flavourless, the roast was cold - such a shame - it was like someone cooked it in angrily and wanted all guests to dissaper. Super disappointed.

Lovely spot on the river with nice outdoor bar. Staff was mediocre and parking was a challenge. The condition of the hotel is in serious need of repair. The facility is downright nasty, carpet dirty and smelly. This could be a fabulous property with a little money spent and a lot of cleaning/painting

We decided to eat here as we had eaten here about 8 months ago and loved it. I ordered the vegan option burger. I asked the girl behind the bar about the chips and onion rings and she told me they were cooked separately in the oven (amazing). When my food arrived, it was a burger and chips, no onion rings. But I had still paid £14, which was on the pricey side for what I got. I mentioned it to the lovely young lad who served us and he offered to check about the onion rings. I told him not to worry as we'd finished our meals. A girl came to clear our plates and asked if everything was okay. I told her that I felt my meal was a bit of a let down and that it was expensive for what I got. She told me the onion rings weren't vegan. I mentioned that this should be reflected in the price and that £14 was a lot for my meal. She replied that she wasn't anything to do with the pricing (I didn't think she was!). I asked her to feedback to the manager. But the manager was actually listening and watching while this went on. My family all enjoyed their meals, such a shame that customer service wasn't up to scratch.

Stopped off at this Lovely pub for some Lunch. Was served by this lovely lady with Burgundy coloured hair (forgot her name 🤦) who was super friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was lovely and relaxed, food was great (highly recommend the crispy Asian style pork belly) at a reasonable price with great service, would definitely go again when we next visit the village.

We stayed for two nights me, my partner and my partners parents. All the staff we encountered were happy, helpful and couldn’t do enough for us, especially Claire who checked us in and explained everything we needed to know clearly. The rooms were clean and well kept and had everything we needed. The view from the top window was beautiful.

We decided, last minute, to visit Bourton-on-the-water after going to Batsford Arboretum. As we had eaten here before we decided to book a table. The staff were all lovely and some of the food was nice, but my husband ordered a Steak pie and the meat was not very nice....it was chewy and some of it was fatty, which was a bit disappointing. Also, two of us ordered the Hunters Chicken and unfortunately, the chicken was a little overcooked, but was still edible. When the chap came to collect the plates my husband mentioned that the meat in the pie was not good and he immediately said he'd remove the cost of his meal from the bill and apologised several times. We appreciated how understanding he was.

This spot is a great place to stay and a really good casual evening out. The breakfast is also great and Claire and the team provide great service. Would come again and stay also.

We visited over the Easter weekend and had a fabulous time. The hotel is in the best spot and has a lovely outside terrace .(weather permitting) The standard bedroom and bathroom were small but clean and comfortable . We had a steak meal in the bar which was tasty and the steak was well cooked. Drinks were reasonably priced and I enjoyed an aperol spritz. The bar was cosy with a nice atmosphere. All the hard working staff were friendly and helpful, particularly the lovely young lady who served us breakfast . The breakfast was also good with both cooked and continental items. A great hotel that is good value for money. Will definitely stay again . May book a superior room next time ,for a bit more space.

Very disappointed at the roast turkey dinner the turkey was very bland not sure if the roast potatoes were fresh ,we have been to many greenkings and this was not one of the best ,the staff very very friendly but we would bother with this one again .

The pub was dead, there was no atmosphere. The only sounds to hear were yapping dogs, we had booked a table and soon entry there was a sign to say there were no tables available, however the pub was empty, we were the only people in the place. The service was stupidly slow and waiters got part of our order wrong. The food itself was disappointing, the chicken was incredibly dry and the “award winning” pie was underwhelming. Overall just a disappointing experience

Unimpressed. Arrived just before 12.30 pm and it was not that busy, yet had to wipe down our own table. When I ordered drinks and food at the bar, the server failed to ask what sauces we wanted with the starters. So when I noticed we had an option, I had to go back to the bar to provide these details. No one cleared the starter dishes until I had to chase a waitress to find out where our mains were having waited ages for three simple courses. The staff were not in the least bit attentive or 'on the ball'. In all, apart from having a nice location, I would definitely not recommend nor return to this place.

Stayed here for 2nights for wife's birthday, lovely twin room, good breakfast and evening meals.Must mention the staff who were very friendly and helpful the 2 waiters on Friday evening were excellent .and allay a reasonable price.

Aaron the chef in duty was brilliant, the girls on duty grace and izzy was absolutely brilliant and big shout out to BIG SLAV he was brillant manager

Had a lovely experience at the Old Manse Hotel, the chef, Dean cooked the breakfast and was delicious. Everything was clean and tidy thanks to Jess the housekeeper, and Claire the reception took good care of us! We will definitely return :)

With such a choice of places to eat locally we fancied sitting outside as the sun was beaming and this place was ideally situated with an outdoor eating area by the river.The staff were welcoming and friendly which made me feel we made the right choice.The menu catered for all tastes and the food paired with a glass of Pinot was just perfect.Ideally placed in picturesque surroundings makes this the place to go!

Ate here on first night and pleasantly surprised by quality and price of the food and drink ! Only criticism would be the slightly dull atmosphere and waitress needs to listen more carefully and smile a bit ! Would have returned otherwise.

we stayed from the 24th to 28th may 2021.we stayed in a cottage as part of the hotel annexe.room was very poky and small.on the 25th on my 50th birthday.we had dinner in the restaurant.i had sirloin steak.very dissapointing.it was very sinewy but i complained and had money knocked off and a free drink.so the staff was brilliant.on that morning at breakfast my partner ordered poached eggs and was given scrambled eggs.they were sent back.my other complaint was there was never any room to park in the residents car park.it is far too small.just like our room.overall i cant fault the staff ,they were excellent

Only one ale to choice from, lamb hot pot pie pastry was raw meat swam around in under season watery gravely one piece of carrot one pieces of swead was not good waiter come over asked how the food was, walked away before I could answer, was not even a sorry when plates were cleared and showed them raw pastry, how can you run a pub that boosts there real ale and only have one on pump

Had a lovely Sunday lunch in beer garden due to the covid restrictions. Very friendly staff. Beautiful location for watching the river flowing by. This was our first meal from a pub for almost a year and it did not disappoint. Covid rules and restrictions carried out perfectly. Looking forward to going back in the future.

Four friends met up after 15m apart using outdoor garden tables overlooking the river. Staff very patient with Covid safety, did our Track and trace registration. Wide choice of menus in spite of Covid complications- we included someone careful before an operation and two non meat eaters. Toilets clean. Two sea bass fillets with salad choice. Very reasonable 1.5 hrs table for lunch

Came for lunch here last week & wasn't disappointed, met the new manager,Michael, he was very warm & friendly & has breathed new life in to the place, he took time to explain things to us & we felt so welcome. Food was wonderful at very good prices, toilets were very clean. We had an enjoyable visit even in these uncertain times. We definitely recommend the olde manse & we will be re booking soon. Well done to Michael & his team.

Great pub, lovely beer gardenWe stopped here for a few drinks and sat in the beer garden which was lovely. Plenty of seats and beautiful hanging baskets and amazing view to the river Knowledgeable staff who gave us some beer recommendations. Reasonable prices and a spotlessly clean pub and toilets.They have a good pub menu, onion rings which were crispy and tasty and burguer cooked to perfection Very good atmosphere, vibrant and lively.Recommend if you're in the area.

Booked a table for outside had a lovely table by the river ordered scotch egg starter followed by the hunters chicken both were really good, the waitress that served me was very attentive and good to see all Covid measures in place!

Basic pub grub at fairly reasonable prices. Visited during Covid rules and had to stay outside. Polite staff who were coping well with the additional work they were having to endure

Visited for lunch on an afternoon out to visit the Christmas Shop.I ordered the Christmas Dinner and they were happy to accommodate me by giving me mash also. Very good meal, especially the Turkey and Gravy, but I was given TEN roast potatoes, which seems excessive. Can't compltabout big portions though. Very good.Shout out to Harry - our waiter. Very friendly and gave us time to decide our order.My girlfriend had a burger. Cheese and bacon I think. She loved it.

We stayed here in October. Service was always very good and staff helpful.Breakfast was always nice and fresh and have no complaints.We had dinner on one night and wouldn't return. Starter of shared camembert was good, but mains of lamb shoulder with champ mash and vegetable burger were not up to scratch, in particular the lamb dinner. The lamb was tough and overcooked and the champ mash wasn't champ mash, but most likely Smash! It was poor. Puddings also very average. Price overall was expensive for very basic pub food.I think there are better places to eat, but plan ahead, book your restaurants before your visit in order to be dined at better restaurants.

Always hard work getting a table in Bourton in an evening but we were lucky enough to find a table here. Lovely friendly staff, beer was cold and the food was nice what more could you want.

From the time we arrived till we left the service was excellent staff were very friendly greeted by Mario who booked us in then we had lunch and were served by Tracey.covid guide lines were followed through out our stay. We felt very safe.the food was excellent every day would deffinatly come back and recomend to friends and family.

Popped in for a pint before going to see legendary Brum! Were really impressed pub safety and friendliness of ALL staff. Lots of COVID-19 safety measures in place whilst maintaining a happy, friendly atmosphere. Sat and downloaded the app to help staff but staff were so prompt and polite in asking if we were ready to order, our order was ok etc. We have looked at rooms for future ventures (especially after the pandemic) and were surprised at how reasonably priced they were.Ended up ordering lunch which was delicious. Sharing platter enjoyed by us both. A great pub in a great location. 10/10

No pude decidir si tomar el bacalao con patatas fritas o las gambas, luego vi que el menú ofrecía un "Signature Atlantic Cod & Chips" que incluía gambas. ¡Ordenado! Cuando llegó la comida, la presentación fue excelente y los platos muy bien llenos. Tenía la opción de guisantes de jardín o blandos y también había una olla de salsa tártara junto con cuatro triángulos de pan blanco espeso y mantequilla para untar. En general, buena comida servida por amables camareros, regada con una pinta decente a un precio razonable.En lo que respecta a la situación del coronavirus, los comensales se separaron adecuadamente en la medida en que se sintió convenientemente distante de las mesas vecinas, y el seguimiento / rastreo se "hizo cumplir" ya sea a través de una aplicación o la recopilación manual de detalles. También había un sistema unidireccional alrededor de la propiedad para ayudar con el distanciamiento social. Si soy honesto, pensé que al ingresar, toda la sesión informativa sobre el coronavirus del saludador podría simplificarse un poco, ya que parecía que estábamos parados durante minutos. We spent 4 days at the olde manse celebrating our golden wedding anniversary and could not have had a more enjoyable time even with covid restrictions. From Dan, the general manager and all the staff they made us feel very comfortable and welcome, the menu choices were the best in Bourton and quality and presentation excellent, including breakfast, accompanied with a good selection of drinks.

Not much to say here. Food excellent, service exemplary, thank you Alina, lovely ambience, Covid safe. Would come here again.... and again. Loved it!

We had a special 50th wedding anniversary dinner at the Old Manse Hotel and had an amazing night. The staff are so attentative and the service is excellent. They are operating on a full and extensive menu and we had good quality food with generous portions. Thanks to Dan and the team for a memorable night.

We ate at the Old Manse restaurant on our recent visit to Bourton On The Water. From the minute we stepped inside, we felt welcome. The manager was attentive and Alina our waitress was fantastic. The food was amazing. They have covid monitors walking around to ensure masks were worn as people arrived and departed, and tables AND chairs were wiped down with sanitizer. All in all, a wonderful experience made even better by the manager and Alina. Thank you both. We will definitely recommend and definitely return.

Really incredible feeling got from being there. From the view to the food and staff everything was superb. Would highly recommend. Food came fast and was tasty Got to try the room by the fireplace. You can go there in any season, it is amazing

An old hotel but with a young, respectful and prompt staff that makes you feel great in a pleasant location. Very good and diversified food in a good atmosphere under the conditions given by the COVID situation. We will return always with pleasure!

We had a fab experience in this pub, food was great, plenty to choose from the menu, staff very friendly. But what impressed me the most was the Covid 19 measures in place. Will be back.

Nice enough pub, decent food. I felt the servers came too close to the table when taking orders, and were only wearing shields not masks.

Prebooked the table, we arrived early and staff explained all the new Covid measures, one way system, staff all wearing masks as were all customers. Food was lovely (although the nachos starter was cold) mains and pudding were good.

You can't get a better location than by a bridge, on the river in Bourton-on-the-Water. So the opportunities to continue that feeling at this establishment are huge. Everything was fine, average but could have been so much more. Firstly, the outside section, with the views and bustle of a busy Bourton was closed - doubly disappointing as we'd rather eat outside in these COVID-19 times. Yes, indoors was completely geared up to cope with pandemic trading, but those serving stood very close at times. The menu was fine but not exciting, the food came promptly and was tasty but there was no atmosphere and we felt very processed.

We had booked to eat here but following a visit in the afternoon for a drink we decided to cancel. The staff were very COVID aware but the place was somewhat tired.

We were served by Dan! Have to say 5 Star Customer Service! Everything was throughly explained with all the new restrictions. We felt totally safe. We thought Dan was very professional but friendly.

Finding it hard to find anything positive about this hotel. Oh yes the location is great but saying that Burton on the water is only a small village so all accommodation is close by. We paid £258 for 2 nights 21st and 22nd September. The whole place needs gutting, a full reverb is required. We stayed in the Annex, which was awful. Bedding and towels were clean but that's it. Carpets filthy, cracked sink, wardrobe broke, floors creaked, tiles in bathroom awful, bathroom floor old and dirty. I could go on and on but you'll probably get the picture. This is my first bad review I've ever wrote, I've travelled all over the world. Stayed in many old buildings and love the quirkiness of them but not this one.We also waited over 45 minutes for our breakfast and we were the 2nd couple in the dining room. would not stay again and definitely would not recommend at that price. If it was around £70 per night which is average for a b&b then maybe take the offer up

Visited here for a drink and some food.It was very organised Covid wise, we were asked to log into an app on arrival and shown to a table outside overlooking the river in Bourton.The server explained the one way system and how we could order on the app or table service.We opted to order by the app. They have a great allergy menu that allows you to pick items depending on allergies.Normal pub favourites are all there with some nice additions such as Lamb shoulder and seafood rissotto. It's not fancy cuisine but solid good pub food.The tables outside are lovely (although busy) and you can sit and look at the river and view whilst eating.It does get busy here, and you can not book tables outside but it's worth the wait.

Was good food and drink, alot of food on the menu they ran out of, amd did not have all the drinks ot shows they have on the app, accommodation was average

Food was OK, it would have been better if the staff had mentioned that they were missing certain important ingredients. With that said, the staff were very attentive.

We had a lovely early evening dinner outside seating , The staff were all very happy and friendly . Our son had his favorite Hunters Chicken Supreme which he said was delicious, Me and my wife had there new Lamb hot pot and it was really tasty, will definitely have this again .

We booked for lunch and were greeted at the door and an explanation given as to how the restaurant operated. We were quickly shown to our seats and were impressed by the approach to social distancing and hygiene. We order gammon and steak and this arrived in good time and was ample. Staff were very pleasant and obliging. Well organised, good food and a pleasant luncheon was had. Highly recommended

Good service, good quality food and reasonable prices. The menu was limited but there are many options so you should be able to find sometying you like.

Booked a table for 6 adults on the 5th September Arrived to be shown to a table not even big enough for 3 people to eat at never mind 6 After “seeing what they could do” We had another small table pushed up. The food was awful (please see the photo attached) Lasagne that was burnt to a crisp and when we spoke to someone about it we were told “it’s not burnt” Complete waste of money

Fast service and delicious food. Lady with the Geordie accent i think it was couldn’t do enough for us. Again very well trained on covid procedures. We was in and out within 30 mins.

Staff were doing their utmost to help queue of people waiting to eat. Cleanliness inspired confidence in eating there. Food seemed to be freshly cooked and great in size. It was last day of the original EOTHO so price wise really good.

Enjoyed the restaurant, very helpful staff, especially the young Andrei, which was a great host. Even the restaurant was busy every table was attended with care.

Our go to place whenever we go to bourton but first time post covid. Very impressed with all the measures in place. Made you feel very safe.The food was superb. Real treat for me to have seafood and didn't disappoint. In particular the sea bass scallop and prawn risotto was beautiful. Unfortunately no room for dessert. See you again soon

We visited Bourton-on-the-Water on Saturday 22nd Aug and went into The Old Manse Hotel and as we are trying to be careful with COVID-19 we were impressed by the measures of keeping us safe. The Staff there were lovely, Alina couldn’t do enough for us and we had lunch there and was amazing!! They deserve a recognition as not easy being in hospitality during this difficult time! Thank you so much can’t wait to come back!!

We had lunch at Old Manse Hotel and we could not fault it at all,The host explained the Covid measures in place and showed us to our table and was then served by very friendly waitress.We ordered the food, Prawn and Avocado cocktail and Garlic Mushrooms to start followed by Salmon and chicken dishes which were both very tasty.We would not hesitate to eat here if we was in the area again.

Visited this restaurant whilst staying in Bourton on the water for our evening meal and received good service, friendly staff, Covid compliant. Food and service good would recommend a visit.

Good service, good enforcement of covid rules all staff wearing face shields, clean and pleasant surroundings.Table service a little slow but they were very busy. Food very disappointing, chips not cooked properly, batter on fish very thick and the fish was dry. Other people in our party had scamp and chips, again chips not cooked enough and the scamp coating was hard. Had to repeatedly ask for salt as they only put 3 small salt packs on the table for 4 people!The drinks were very expensive charging 3.95 for Darling Later and 8.70 for a double Baccardi and coke. The only saving grace was the meals were on the 50% government offer.

We had been booked into Birdland at 12, so by time came out and had a stroll lots of places had finished serving food. We came across this place and they had table on the patio/garden area (luckily in shade as it was a scorcher). The waitress explained about all the safety measures - sanitiser, one way system etc, registering details. We did not download app but gave order to waitress and paid inside after , which is nice to know for older or non smart phone users.Food was very good portions & hot. Felt relaxed and safe.I was very impressed as they were busy and it was sooo hot I think the staff were amazing in the heat and the added pressures on them, and our meal and service being great....AND we got 50% off as it was Wednesday and they are participating in the Eat Out To Help Out scheme

Booked her for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Booking was done online which was really easy and immediately confirmed. The day we went was very sunny. The village was really busy and cars were queuing to get to parking spaces. We nearly turned around but we found parking and went to the hotel. There was a queue outside with a wait time of up to an hour for a table, so I was glad we had made a reservation. We were shown to our table immediately. We were given a detailed brief of the precautions in place, asked to sanitise our hands and shown how to exit and where the toilets were. They have put in perspex screens inbetween tables which work really well for a table for two or a table for six. The staff were so attentive we began to wonder if they thought we were food critics. Food was great, service was good and they were all really friendly. All staff wore masks, toilets were regularly being checked. Really felt comfortable there.Would definitely recommend anyone going to the Cotswolds book in advance and go here.Thanks everyone at Old Manse Hotel.

Fab staff made this evening meal a success, Ovi, Alina and all other staff did so well contending with the heat, the Boris offer bringing lots of people out and social distancing. You did so incredibly well and it was appreciated.

Wonderful to be able to get a late booking, just the day before, for Sunday lunch. Bourton on the Water is in full tourist swing, even with social distancing in place. Whilst we couldn't eat with views of the river (unless we wanted to queue, with walk up and wait customers), the staff were very accommodating and showed us to a table in their other garden space. The menu was great, food was good and service was friendly, attentive but not intrusive. All social distancing measures were in place and adhered to, but weren't in your face. As a family with 2 young children, and this being our first venture out to eat since lockdown, we felt very comfortable. Thanks to the team.

You really can't beat this restaurant for its picturesque setting, right beside the river.The staff were all polite, friendly and attentive. By the way, all staff wore masks.The meals were excellent value for money, especially with the 'Eat Out to Help Out'An extensive menu with so much choice. Tables well spaced out in accordance with Covid regulations.

We visited during the ‘Eat out to help out’ offer so booked in advance. The staff were all friendly and we were told on arrival that the food had a waiting time of 40 minutes. We were sat in a lovely setting so thought this would be ok but we actually waited over an hour. Our steak meals were delivered first and may have been warm on arrival but we then had to wait for another meal to arrive, followed by another and then another with eventuality all of the cutlery. By this time the steak meals were cold and the toppings congealing on the top. The steaks were not cooked to medium rare (as recommended on the menu) and were rare, very fatty/gristly. We often visit our local Greene King pubs so we were very disappointed with this experience.

We had a lovely meal with excellent food and very friendly service. The triple chocolate brownie ice cream sundae is especially recommended!

Delicious food - would recommend the lamb shoulder roast on a sunday! Friendly covid compliant staff and loads of measures such as screens inside the pub! Will return next time in the Cotswolds!

Visited here a few times during our recent trip to Bourton. Fabulous location. Very well organised and super friendly staff who can pride themselves on getting everything right and making us feel welcome and comfortable during these uncertain times.

Excellent food, charming staff, I would eat there every night! Congratulations to the chef for a perfect Sea Bass, scallop and prawn risotto.

Fish and chips was good but the lasagne was awful, burnt and cold Service was v good. Good position for people watching.

We walked to this Restaurant in the evening. It was very busy but the lady at the front of house was very welcoming and found us a table. The food a d wine was very good, Would recommend.

This lovely waterside pub was just what we needed on a hot days after walking around the area. The outside space was well laid out to manage social distancing, the staff were well prepared to look after customers in different circumstances and we made good use of their app. Good food, good service and at a price that was no higher than averagew

I've stopped by for a quick lunch and I pleasantly suprised to see how many measures were in place to prevent the covid-19 spread. The food was great, more than expected, staff was very friendly and organised.
