The best restaurants in Cotswold South West

The pub is in a beautiful location however the food I had for Sunday lunch was disappointing. I had the Shakshouka that said it came with 'flat bread' however it was a basic cheap tasteless wrap. Given the price I thought the quality would be a lot better and possibly with some garnish. The coffee was terrible too - it was luke warm and over stewed. I have eaten here a few years ago and the food was great, perhaps it has changed hands.

Reasonable price, amazing food and relaxed atmosphere.

We had a very disappointing lunch experience. We were seated in the garden around 2:30 PM, looking forward to a quiet meal, when a staff member began mowing the lawn right next to us—despite clearly seeing us dining. The noise was extremely disruptive, and the strong smell of petrol completely ruined our appetite. We asked reception if the mowing could be paused while we ate, but were told they’d have to check with HR. Nothing changed, and the staff member continued working in the same area. Eventually, we asked to be moved to the front of the restaurant just to escape the noise and fumes, but by then, we’d lost our appetite and couldn’t finish our food. We ended up spending nearly £80 for two people to sit in a noisy, unpleasant environment with unhelpful staff and no consideration for guests' comfort.

A small coffee shop opposite the parish church. Obviously very popular with locals. We had seriously good coffee. Their coffee is not for the faint hearted. Whilst drinking I got a touch of food envy. Everything that was being eaten around me looked delicious. The only reason we did not return for lunch was we wanted somewhere with a fire to sit by, after a very cold visit to the church.

The coffee shop we intended to go to was packed, so we went next door to Davenford instead as it wasn’t very busy at all. We ordered coffee and pastries and sat down inside with the dog (sign at the front saying dogs allowed but on lead). While we were waiting, a waiter came to give us a menu, not realising we’d already ordered, so walked away. Next thing, another staff member came and said dogs were only allowed at the front part of the store. No one mentioned this before! So we had to pack up our things and head to tables outside because the minimal tables were taken inside. After waiting a while, finally got our drinks but no food, he said it was coming. How hard is it to put two pastries from the shelf into plates?!! They never came so I went in to cancel the pastries and ask for a refund, because we’d finished our drinks so we didn’t want the food now. They didn’t even give so much as an apology, just an offer to put them in takeaway boxes. Unbelievable! Got back to the car and discovered they’d given us something entirely different to what we’d ordered…no words 😖. This probably explains why next door was jam packed and these guys weren’t. They were so flustered behind the counter, not knowing who was doing what. First and last time visit for us. Dreadful…

Brilliant delicious food, super service. Well worth a visit. Do yourself a favour and visit this pub/restaurant. The number of customers speak volumes .

It doesn't seem to exist anymore

I was having my motorhome serviced in the village and had a whole day to kill. The leaflet was in the waiting area so I gave it a try. Lovely full English breakfast, cooked perfectly, very nice quality coffee and a wonderful relaxed atmosphere. Ordered a second coffee and hung a round for a bit with no feeling like you weren't welcome. It was so nice and the service was first class and came with a smile that a added a toasted teacake and a third coffee to the bill and returned for them early afternoon! Very reasonably priced indeed and an all-round lovely experience!

Wonderful dinner here. Dog friendly. Kid friendly. The staff was over the top lovely and kind to my whole family. Food was elevated and delicious. Cozy up by the fire and enjoy this treat of a place.

Fantastic pub with a lovely, relaxed atmosphere. Great service, all the staff are helpful and friendly, especially Abby and Josh, nothings too much trouble. Very dog friendly, they bring biscuits to our dog and are very sweet to her. On top of that the food is delicious.

Not been here for years, so this was a very pleasant surprise. Sandwiches and lattes were very nice as were the staff and surroundings. Clean and spacious. The sunny weather and aircraft all added to a great afternoon.

Lovely spot for lunch. The ambience was pleasant, not too noisy, no intrusive music. The menu was not so long that you know everything comes from the freezer/microwave. The staff were very young but efficient, pleasant and very helpful. When I said that my elderly mother and I would share a main they brought it on two plates and offered to do something off-menu if that was what she wanted. My husband loved his liver special.

We did stay here already few times and for sure will go back. Room was superb, the pub has great food and drink offer. See you soon! Ciao!

I went to college in Cirencester in 2020/2021 and still/used to go here all the time. It still holds up to this day! It’s always been a favourite of mine and my sisters, and will continue to be. Super friendly service, really good prices, and always yummy!
