Initially loved the look of this place. Room was fine apart from the toilet. If you flushed it once it would not flush again for at least an hour. Booked dinner with our dog. Seating very tired and stained and so dusty. I ordered sirloin my hubby ordered fish n chips. I did not receive sirloin. I received three ‘slices’ of fatty, tough cheap carvery beef. My veg couldn’t be cut it was so hard. My hubby’s batter had obviously been forgotten it was so overcooked. We hadn’t eaten in over eight hours so he ate his. Mine was inedible. I complained and I was offered a replacement meal. I was too tired as our journey had taken all day. Breakfast was a contrast and lovely. Hubby had full English, I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. Lovely. We came to pay. They were aware of the toilet. I was told there was a plumbing problem they were trying to rectify and they said the bill for food was void. Which was fair. Would I return. No.

We were recommended to this pub and it certainly lived up to expectations. Lovely and cosy with all fires lit so we were able to relax. The staff were well informed and super friendly. Our starters of scallops and fishcake were really excellent and a good portion size, with real attention to detail. Mains of fillet of brill and lamb suet pudding were really good. The only thing I would say is it would be great if chef would put less salt in the mash and check other sauces and gravies. When the ingredients are good and the chef knows how to cook, it is essential to cut down on salt.

We were staying in one of their lovely rooms so ate here as the food looked good and it did not disappoint. We had the homemade burger which was moist and obviously fresh. My wife really enjoyed the spiced monkfish. She then had a lovely rhubarb crumble with loads of custard whilst I enjoyed my Espresso Creme Brulee. We can recommend the malbec and there is a great selection of local real ales, all perfectly kept. Good coffee too !

Great meal for 6 of us, all very well cooked - we had a range of meals - burgers, fishcakes, mushroom and lentil pie, venison -plus a starter to share and a couple of desserts -everything was tasty, well presented and good value for money. Staff were friendly and attentive - we will definitely be back!

Fabulous stay at this archetypal English pub/ hotel. Sitting in the sun overlooking beautiful views with sheep in the fields was like paradise. Bar snacks and restaurant food were excellent with a fine selection of ales. Comfy spacious rooms with generous tea and biscuits and a lovely cooked breakfast using locally sourced ingredients rounded off a perfect stay. We will definitely stay there again

When we booked two weeks at a nearby holiday cottage, we had high hopes for The Crown. On our second day, we decided to go for lunch, and hope that it would become “our local”. We felt we won the jackpot with this gem of a place. Great food, friendly fast service, wonderful ambiance (the fire being appreciated one cool, spring day). We repeated out visits five or six times, sometimes on a walk, enjoying lunches and Sunday roast. Nice large parking lot, for the one day we drove. We sampled the fish and chips, sole, burger and for Sunday roast the pork. All delicious, as well as the desserts. Beautiful locale with views. Lovely beer garden.

Lovely old country pub. Nice, welcoming friendly staff. Food, not so good…I had the fish and chips…sorry to say it wasn’t very nice. The chips were pale and undercooked…needed double frying for extra crispness. The fish in batter didn’t have any taste at all and the few peas were dried up and weren’t really mushy peas. Quite expensive too for the amount I had to leave and couldn’t eat. :(

Having not visited for a couple of years, I was looking forward to the evening. However the experience was marred by a very disruptive group of Londoners and their three dogs. Obnoxious, doesn't come close. their loud arrogant behaviour was almost too much to bear. A charming couple who were staying at the Crown made it claer to us - they not be eating in the bar again. The food prices have been increased and the quality was. Lamb chops should not be just fat!! I will be not visiting in the near future.

The Crown Inn is a traditional rustic cotswold pub/inn with good tasty beer and honest quality food. On the day we both had the fish & chips, although the portions were not large the food was very good. We sat outside and it was great, however, I would like to return on another day and have a two or three course dinner inside.

What a real pleasure... this place has it sorted even in the hardest of times with social distancing etc. We eat three times, twice during eat out to help out and once afterwards. All were equally good. The title says it all but I should expand with some detail. It really is one of the sunniest evening spots I know of to enjoy the evening light over a beer or indeed a meal in the garden which has ample space to allow a large number of people to sit at the bench tables whilst still respecting social distancing. We were served by a few different staff members over the three meals and all were charming, attentive and totally get the way to put their guests at ease and make them feel valued. Very professional . 5* on that front. The chef is certainly one of the best in any pub I know of and seems to have a fondness for fish which suits me very well. Always fresh, plenty of variation, generous portion sizes and very well prepared and seasoned. We love eating out and only return 'home' to this area every couple of months but this place is definitely at the top of my list for a meal, either with my wife or en famille. Should also add that the beer is good and the prices are perfectly fair for what is on offer. Excellent all round... please keep it up and we will be back and will have no hesitation recommending to others. Thank you!!

We've been blessed with a sunny summer, so it was time for a drive around the glorious Cotswolds! Having visited Rodborough Common (stunning!) we headed towards home and happened on yet another pretty village, Frampton Mansell. Let's see if we can get fed in this pretty looking pub, we thought. Inspite of us not having a dog (the pub garden was doggie heaven!), we found table for two, where we sat admiring the fabulous views. My whole sole was served with the sweetest toms on the vine and was fabulous. Hubby had a huge ploughman's. Absolutely idyllic English summer's evening in a quintessentially English pub garden! The staff were delightful. Perfect and thank you!

We hadn't been to the Crown for three or four years, so joined friends there for Saturday lunch. The food was good, although I felt the vegetable portions on the venison was a bit on the small side, However, all the food was very well cooked and they had a particularly good specials board. There was a very limited choice of dessert and the only one any of us were about to choose was sold out, so unfortunately they lost thos sales!!

I use to stay in this pub/hotel many times 25+ years ago. Really happy to go back as I’ve so many happy memories. The food beer setting and staff were excellent. Unfortunately the room was a let down. To be specific, the ‘shower’ was a feeble disgrace, I had to virtually run round to get moist !!!! I mentioned this on checkout to be told there have been loads of complaints but the owners won’t pay for the improvements. Very sad for the guests and the EXCELLENT staff who have to listen to these complaints

This is one of our favourite local pubs and we make a special trip to come to it. It is a lovely old building with lots of character and an open fire. It is very dog friendly and they are very welcoming to our two large hounds. The food is always good but the specials menu is excellent and any fish dishes on the specials menu are outstanding. Their chef decides what to do on the day depending on what fresh fish he has and how he fancies cooking it. The beer is also very good with a good choice of 3 or 4 good beers. Highly recommended.

The Crown has never let us down. Whether for lunch, dinner, friends staying the night or for Sunday lunch which we just tried this past weekend, the Crown is always exceptional. They have a solid choice of food for all dietary requirements and are flexible to the customer's needs. Their Sunday lunch must be very popular as it was rammed and now we understand why. I loved their cauliflower steak with mushroom fricassee option (so rare to find exciting vegan options in country pubs) and hope they keep it on their menu! The roasts were great as their meaty dishes always are. We are so lucky to have this close to home and are already planning our next Sunday visit.

We had the nibbles to share to start - a very beige dish and not presented well at all. For a main I had the veggie burger - it was just mushed up beetroot in a cheap burger bun. No garnish or seasoning whatsoever. The root vegetable chips weren’t nice either - burnt and cold. And I’m not normally hard to please with food! A burger isn’t hard to get wrong, surely. The staff were lovely but so slow - forgot half our drinks and forgot to bring high chairs when asked twice. Service took 3 hours for 3 couples with a main each and a couple of starters and desserts shared. It’s a shame because we were hoping it would be better than this.

My title says it all really, the food was very good, the staff were friendly and efficient, and the room was fine with just a few niggles. The niggles related to the bathroom, where was nowhere to put anything down other than a very small shelf, the lid of the lavatory would not stay up on its own which is not a problem for ladies but awkward for chaps, and although the water was hot enough, the shower mixer limited the temperature to the barely adequate. However, I would certainly stay here again.

I have always been very pleased with the food until today. I ordered a chicken sandwich which cost in excess of £6 but it was totally disappointing. I received two very thick slices of bread with several lettuce leaves and a very minimal portion of chicken. I understand portion control but this was ridiculous. Stopped off in this old favourite from longer ago than I care to remember. Still a smashing pub in a position to die for with very good food and lovely staff.Had some very good roast beef (not leathery brown, but pinker and more interesting) and then ordered pudding and coffee.Coffee arrived within 90 seconds and pudding 20 minutes later. I didn't complain but simply enquired why these two things had been served in this order. Because I hadn't made it clear that I wanted my coffee at the same time as the pudding was kindly and gently explained to me.Those of us old enough to remember a time when courses came in a certain order - starter, main, pudding, coffee - should be aware that waiting staff under the age of 30 are unfamiliar with such customs. And, to be fair, why should they be? So if you want your coffee at the same time as your pudding, or even after it, be sure to make that clear .

Yorkshire pud also very good! It's a traditional old pub which has a homely atmosphere and welcomes dogs and walkers.Good selection of local beers and homemade puds topped, off our visit. Can recommend the creme caramel and the custard tart. Good value too.

My wife and I walked to The Crown Inn from France Lynch on a very wet New Year's Day and what a nice surprise we had.Even though the pub was very busy, we were given a warm welcome from the friendly staff (especially the young barman). Although we didn't eat there (the food looked very good), the atmosphere, surroundings, log fire and excellent choice of beers , makes this pub well worth a visit.

We were here for Christmas lunch and it's probably the worst festive lunch we have experienced. The broth starter looked more like a consomme. The main courses arrived on cold plates which straight away rang alarm bells. The turkey was undercooked and most peoples had pieces of pink turkey if not raw in places. This put me off straight away. One roast potato each which was not roasted and two bits of other veg in a plate of juice. The lamb hot pot was gristley for one of our guests with crisps rather than potatoes as a topping. It cost a lot and it was really disappointing as we had all been looking forward to the lunch for weeks. The staff were very apologetic but no discount offered. Needless to say we won't be returning any time soon.

Spent the evening here with my family, 6 of us. Pre-booked so we weren't disappointed as this is a popular pub. Had starters, main meals, deserts and drinks, including coffee all of which everyone enjoyed. Varied menu, variety of real ales. Staff very professional and helpful would recommend The Crown Inn to anyone who enjoys a great atmosphere, good food and beer and attentive hard working staff.

We are staying in the area and had this place recommended to us by someone who lives locally so we made a visit. The pub was absolutely lovely (in a really pretty setting) and we ate near an open fire. The staff were delightful and we were made to feel very welcome. To add to that we had a cracking lunch that wouldn't be out of place at a top London gastropub (in our experience). The arancini style kedgeree dish was a revelation. Need to go back asap.

We spent a lovely two nights here. A great local pub which hasn't been spoilt by the rush to modernise. And the food was really comforting. The bedroom was a bit dated, but what the heck!

We had a very tasty sunday roast here. We sat next to a roaring fire and had a choice of several different roasts and other dishes. All of our meals were very good and the atmosphere in the pub was lovely- good service too! Great value!

Spontaneous decision to pop in for lunch without booking on a nice summer's day. Simple sandwich and sharing chips. Lovely garden, and pretty nice food. Good service.

Stayed here for two nights with my husband and dog. Room was a good size, clean and a great sized bathroom. Room cleaned even though we were only there for two nights. Breakfast was great and food in the pub was delicious. Very friendly and welcoming staff who could not do enough - all female, will be back ☺

The food was good, the service was friendly and efficient. We had a really nice evening. My only problem is with the decor. I really don't like exposed stone indoors, it feels like you're in a cellar rather than the environment that the food deserves.

Its hard to write a bad review especially when the staff and location were spot on. After a long walk we were so hungry we were looking forward to a tasty meal, and judging by past reviews this is what we were expecting. The food was overpriced for what came out I can only assume whoever was in the kitchen couldn't wait to go home and didn't care what came out. Its a shame someone would serve this up on a plate maybe they were having a bad day and they actually do care what they send out. Unlucky for us we were so hungry after a walk we eat it anyway but for £36 for a tasteless burger and bland stew I feel a little bit mugged off. Front of house and location is great but maybe a review of the kitchen is needed. Will come back for a drink but not food is a shame as I always like to point people in the right direction for yummy food.

We had dinner there two weeks ago and it was brilliant! Although they made a mistake with the ladies orders they more than compensated for their error. The guys food was very good and by the time the ladies meals turned up they were excellent. The staff couldn't be more friendly.Overall the location, staff and food were first class and we will return.

We came in because the Daneway was fully booked and they recommended you. Fairly nice Sunday lunch, meat and veg good (not enough gravy and potatoes a bit hard) for the price. Good atmosphere and friend efficient staff. We will be back, hopefully we will have more gravy next time. The pub is great.

The menu was varied and the specials board was excellent. Everything was freshly prepared, tasty and promptly served. The surroundings are lovely - really old and you sense the history. We enjoyed a pre dinner drink in the snug area and moved to the bar area for food.

I love this pub - it has everything you want from a country Inn, beautiful setting, great atmosphere, friendly staff and a fine beer and food list.My only criticism and it is a real one, the portion size of the meals are pretty small for the price charged. Three out of the four in our party felt similar. What was delivered was excellent to the taste but I think the pub could gain a few more browny points if it only increased the size of the portion beyond taster level. This will not detract from me returning but rather than go for a starter and a pudding, I would be more inclined to boost the size of my main.

Lovely welcome , great service . I definitely recommend the Turkish eggs from the breakfast menu. An unusual dish of yoghurt poached eggs and sourdough toast with a spicy twist , delicious

Excellent restaurant in a very beautiful hotel where I celebrated my birthday with a a small group of friends. Last year I also enjoyed an evening meal here with my partner. Ambience, service and food were perfect. Apéritifs in the lounge, well-spaced tables in the restaurant, excellent, polite and friendly staff, delicious food and lovely surroundings. By far the best restaurant I have been to in years.

What a find, a very quintessential English country pub serving local beers as well as a very stocked back shelf and wine cellar. The welcome is warm and very friendly from the staff and locals alike. Not once did we finish our meals and head home, as we started conversations with the locals and fellow guests, that meant for a very social atmosphere. There is a good lunch menu and a very comprehensive evening menu. I promise you will want to come back to try "something else" off the menu, I know we did and we soon realised that we had to pick either starters & main or main & desert due to the larger portions you receive.

We attended a Wedding at Fosse Manor (in their Hyde Barn). The wedding catering was excellent. It is confusing to read the other reviews here as there was no actual restaurant on site that we could see - just the wedding banquet room and adjoining bar. Breakfast however was not good. Pre-cooked under 3 heat lamps and self-service. The tea was very weak even after adding more tea-bags! The breakfast room was styled like a hostel with long trestle tables for lots of guests to sit together, and was extremely noisy. After a night spent in the terrible accommodation here (for which we have written a separate review) we did not enjoy this experience at all. A shame, as the Wedding catering itself was very well done and managed.
