Old fashioned style pub a few miles outside of Cirencester. Serving traditional food. Always busy at the weekend. Plenty of room outside with a big covered area. Popular with tourists and locals

This review is long overdue in this day & age of thankless people wanting everything & not being polite ,.the staff at the Greyhound are first class right from the top . The place always looks and feels warm & welcoming & clean the land lady never stops always on hand behind the bar or in the kitchen. I have taken a group of freinds for dinner there several times the meals have been 1st class served with a smile speedily. The beers are well looked after ,the toilets are alway clean & fresh no signs of any misuse well done to all concerned

In these times of thankless people expecting every body to be at there beck and call ,the staff at the greyhound are fantastic right from top to everyone else . I noticed on a lot of occasions the staff were there to help and assist customers who had mobility issues. The pub always smells like the cleaner had just finished nice & fresh .the staff work hard & I think they need a big pat on the back around.

We had a lovely meal with family here. The venue has a cosy friendly atmosphere, with the benefit of being dog friendly. They have nice selection of tasty dishes to choose from and serve decent sized portions which are reasonably priced. What's not to love! We all really enjoyed our meals and will definitely return if we visit the area again.

A very nice meal. We'd come down from Shropshire for a wedding and went here for a meal on the Friday evening. The food was top notch and the atmosphere in the pub was nice and homely... something that's hard to find up our way nowadays. The only slight criticism we had was that the service began to slow down as the evening went on. Nothing wrong with the staffs attitude, that was great, just that they seemed to appear to be lacking in personnel as it got busier..... leading to longer and longer waiting times. But other than that, it's definitely a pub I'd recommend going to either for a meal or just a drink. Smaller rooms and an open fire are exactly what a pub needs, and this place provides both really well.👍

For the fourth time this year, I've not been able to use the pub as it has closed before advertised time. 21:30 tonight instead of 22:30. Very disapppointed. Went and gave my money to Tesco instead.

Lovely little pub! Me and my family were staying nearby for the week, we decided to try to Greyhound because it had a menu that suited all 9 guests. Was a really nice pub, the staff were amazing considering one of them was on their own for the first 40 minutes we were there. Food was really nice and we was well looked after.

Great food price reasonable for Carvery. Staff were attentive, booked but arrived slightly early and were accomadated.

Went for lunch, first visit, recommended by friends, we all had a great meal very friendly and attentive staff, very dog friendly🐕our dog was treated to dog biscuits and a bowl.of beef from Sunday's roast which he woofed down, meals very reasonably priced and great quality, will definitely be back.

Too dog friendly , Don’t mind pubs that allow dogs but puppies walking on actual bar and having a cushion to sit on is taking it too far. Not hygienic in my book. I would worry what the hygiene standards out of site in kitchen if this is allowed. Didn’t choose to eat for this reason, beer was good - glad it was poured from a pump not where puppy had been.

The food was satisfactory, was very disappointed at not being able to have a pudding after a meal, staff claimed was to late and kitchen was closed, well don’t employ just teenagers then who go home early and leave your customers dissatisfied, will never return here it’s purpose is for piss heads nothing else.

A friends birthday,us girls often choose to eat here,great service fabulous food,took a birthday cake always make it special by bringing it out after the meal.The staff here are lovely,Three of us had the special roast beef yorkshire,1 had macaroni and garlic bread,1 had nachos with jalapeños everybody thoroughly enjoyed it,so once again thank you so much for making Hilary’s birthday special👏🏻👏🏻👌

Found this little delight while on holiday celebrating our anniversary. VERY dog friendly which was amazing. The staff could not be nicer and made us all feel so welcomed. We would genuinely consider driving down from Hertfordshire just for some of their events now. Loved it.

We've been to The Greyhound many times, but there seems to have been a change recently. If you're in the garden you have a restricted menu, although you pay prior to eating and food still arrives on a plate. Can't see why full menu isn't available. Also one of our party was told they couldn't order a child's burger, as they weren't a child but could have a small plate meal! Would love to discover why to the above, but staff weren't interested in answering......seems like what used to be a favoured pub may not so be interested in its customers needs, but want you to pay full price for food to be wasted.

We booked randomly because we were nearby. On arrival we chose a table outside under the gazebo. Went to the bar and checked in. Ordered drinks and food, all very straightforward and pleasant, thank you. Will come again next time we stay at Hoburne Cotswold.

Nice atmosphere and service but the food hasn’t been good the last two times we’ve visited. Sunday lunch at 4:30pm was poor. Meat and potatoes were dried out and hard to cut through.

Another great meal at the Greyhound. Food and service ie excellent. Prices are fair and in my opinion good value for money for the quality of food. The white chocolate and raspberry roulade desert is the best pudding ever. The staff are very friendly and attentive. Good outside space also.

Lovely village pub with friendly staff and an excellent main menu at reasonable prices. However the sweets / puddings we ordered were small and not value for money, although the Eton Mess had by one of our group was huge. We use the Greyhound a lot as its mid point between us and family members, we will still use it, but will not be having puddings or sweets again.

Whilst the atmosphere was friendly and the pub is full of character we were disappointed with the Sunday roasts. Very poor quality and quantity of accompanying vegetables. They also forgot to include the pork crackling and apple sauce with my husbands roast. As a veggie my nutroast was served with gravy and potatoes which looked as if they were the same as my husbands so not sure if they contained animal product. Food very salty. All in all disappointing.

First time visiting the pub. Lovely lunch and nice place to meet up.

Fabulous pub and restuarant. The food is delicious, the venue is really lovely and very comfortable, but what really stands out is how well they look after you. We went as a large and happy family party of 16 celebrating a very special day. The staff worked really hard and made it look effortless. We ate really well and our every need was catered for. It is very much appreciated. Most of us don't live locally or we would be back soon! Highly recommended.

A lovely cute country pub. Friendly staff, booked for Sunday lunch the vegetables were lovely, but I had roast beef which was over done and slightly tough. But the pork and crackling was amazing. Pretty outside area.

The food and the service were both excellent - well worth a visit if you want a really good Sunday lunch with a decent pint.

We had a lovely meal. My wife is coeliac and the gluten free menu was extensive and tasty. The kids menu was also great for the kids and they enjoyed the sticky toffee pudding! Great quality food and a lovely country pub atmosphere.

The food was very good. Having our meal order taken was a bit slow but the staff were clearly busy with a large group in the bar so understandable.

Food was incredible, specially the toad in the hole such good value for money how ever the bar staff were rude. been a couple of times and been made to feel uncomfortable by sniggering behind the bar. My drink was also made wrong this is the second time this has happened. No apologies given. The plates came out extremely hot specially the child’s plate handed straight to her with no warning, this then resulted in her burning her hand. When I approached the man working and asked for something cold to put on it we went and got a tissue full of ice, (took his time) but still no apology. No one came to ask how our food was atall.

Food was brilliant and staff were friendly . The pub felt clean and cosy and it had a gluten free menu. The only issue was the online menu wasn't up to date and they got my sides wrong. But overall it was lovely

A lovely dog friendly pub with really nice food and friendly service. Dropped in here passing through with our 2 Rhodesian Ridgebacks who were made a fuss of and given water. The food was very nice indeed, shame we don’t live closer, we would be regulars.

We would absolutely love to see more gluten free options such as pies and fish dishes. Me and my partner had are first date here and fell in love with the place then the majority of gluten free options disappeared hence we only now come once in a blue moon now. Please send me updates if you have any plans to add more dishes to the menu or would like ideas of what to add the menu as we’d be willing to help on this matter . With hope Simeon

Always enjoy my Sunday roast's in the Greyhound and good value. Tasty starters that appeal to both my partner and myself for example whitebait or the cheese and black pudding bon Bon's. Tasty beer's too.

4 of us came in as a treat for Mother’s Day on Saturday 9th March 2024, and what a lovely evening we all had. From start to finish , the food, service and atmosphere was fantastic. Would highly recommend . Thank you for a great evening and we will definitely be back again soon .

Amazing roast dinner on a Sunday. Visited today with the family whilst on holiday. I’m very fussy when it comes to a roast dinner, but I have to say this is probably the BEST pub roast I’ve ever had!!! The beef was incredibly tasty and perfectly cooked. The yorkshires were big and crispy. The potatoes (wow) these were awesome. The gravy was perfect, the veg was yummy, the cauliflower cheese was great…..basically, it was awesome and I’d highly recommend it. I hate going to a pub for Sunday roast only to be disappointed………but, I LOVED the roast at The Greyhound!!! The kids had a roast too and loved it. Dessert was also really, really great. Sticky toffee pudding ………. MEGA!!! Finally, for the quality of food, I thought it was excellent value. We loved it so much that we booked another table whilst we were there for midweek, to try their non-roast menu.

We love the Greyhound and not sure why it has taken so long to leave a review. The staff are very attentive, friendly, chatty, and helpful. They give the pub a very welcoming and buzzy vibe - something many establishments lack these days, which makes the Greyhound stand out. We had Sunday lunch and there was no one plate which wasn’t cleared by the end of it - we were a party of 2 kids and 4 adults. Adults had the roast (2 beef 2 pork) and the kids had beef burgers and home made fries - which they thought were delicious. Portion sizes were generous but that didn’t stop us all from eating the whole lot. The roasts were presented beautifully and then came the sides (part of what you pay for the lunch) of greens and home made cauliflower cheese, spilling over the dish it was cooked in. It was clear to see everyone else in the pub enjoyed their food too as the pub was busy, which gave it a buzz but not stacked - so buzzy but relaxed. The pub itself is traditional and just the sort of place you hope for when you go for a pub - cosy, proper bar, wood and fires! Not polished, but clean and rustic. After a family walk, heading to the greyhound for Sunday lunch just perfected our day! We will most definitely be back! Thank you Greyhound!

Found this pub online, and was very easy to book a table. We arrived and were greeted straight away, and shown straight to our table. Service was second to none, as well as the food. We ordered roasts and were extremely happy. Fantastic food. Our dog was offered a biscuit. Candle lit on table added a lovely touch. Would definitely recommend and visit again.

Expected it to be quiet on a Monday lunchtime, but both service and food was great. Very pleasant bartenders . Just a beer or two with a quick bite to eat. 'Small fish & chips'. Excellent value ! Unless you're starving , your not likely to need the Large!
