So disappointing The pub is dreary and uninviting. Not sure why the restaurant was closed so all seating was in the bar area where it was dark and we couldn’t read the menu. We have been in the past when it was vibrant and cosy. The brewery’s policy of not allowing a taster of standard wine has lost them a sale and left a customer very unhappy. We will not be going back Yet another loss of profits

Relatively speaking, off the beaten track, but a decent base for nearby Cheltenham, Cirencester or The Cotswolds. Warmly welcomed on arrival, and this was a constant from all the staff during our stay. Plenty of on-site parking available; exceptional food and a wonderful room set in a cottage besides the inn. The list on the specials board was something else. When booking the room it stated a continental breakfast was included, however it was actually a continental and full English or similar if required. Bonus! My only slight gripe would be that there was no allergen labelling on any of the menus. Not problematic for me personally, but for others potentially. My scrambled egg at breakfast I would say contained wholegrain mustard, and was the most 'different' scrambled egg I've ever tasted. This by the way is a compliment - but if anyone with a mustard allergen had eaten this ..........

The food was delicious and well presented. The girl serving was very friendly and welcoming.

The Colesbourne Inn was great from check in to check out. Room was clean and comfortable. The pub/restaurant had a lovely atmosphere. Bar staff were very friendly. We had bar snacks and starters they were hot fresh and tasty. Breakfast the next morning was great with a wide range of choices. Will definitely return if travel takes us to that part of the country again!

Luscious lunch. We dined at CI yesterday. We had a superb experience. Delicious food - Sunday roast, cooked to perfection. To die for, dessert - white chocolate and cranberry bread and butter pudding. Attentive but not intrusive service. We will be back. Many thanks to all concerned

Service was extremely slow and staff were overwhelmed. Starter delicious sharing cheese dip, upon asking for more bread as not enough to finish the cheese, told bluntly it would be charged for which we expected anyway. Had to ask where our main courses were after being in the restaurant nearly 1.5 hours. Brought quickly so clearly just sitting there, they were very nice. Decided against dessert and coffee. A lovely meal in a place we come back to again and again but service let it down this time. Staff are all professional and very nice.

This was the second visit in a month and we will keep on returning. There is easy access from the car park into a warm welcoming pub. The staff are friendly and polite, the menu has a good range to choose from and the food is delicious. The prices are reasonable too and we're looking forward to seeing what the patio garden is like in the summer.

Had quiche, salad and chips. Quiche portion was tiny. One and half inches at its widest point. Appalled at portion.Over £13. A great profit made. Sat outside and ashtrays overflowing with old fag ends in water.

Stayed here for 2 nights b&b for our anniversary. Room was clean and spacious with small shared patio. Staff were fantastic. Full English breakfast available as well as help yourself to cereal, fruit etc. We had evening meals there too. Good choice of meals and good portion size. Lovely outside area to sit and eat/drink. Happy to recommend.

The pub was very pleasant, comfortable and with a nice atmosphere. The food was excellent. Well-presented and delicious. Beers and wine were good. What let the experience down however was the service. I don’t mind waiting a little longer, but it did feel a little excessive. Whilst I didn’t start a stopwatch, it was in the region of a 50 minute wait. Tables that arrived a considerable time after us, were served quicker, which did beg the question as to whether we had been “missed”. The service at the table was particularly poor. We had to ask for orders to be taken, for drinks and equally didn’t receive a single “is everything ok with your meal”. Even after having requested “service” we needed to (on several occasions chase up our food, drink orders and even the bill. The poor service spoilt an otherwise good evening, which was raised at the end of meal. The response, although apologetic, was lack-lustre. A real shame, as otherwise a really nice place.

Came for Sunday lunch. Thoroughly enjoyed a pint of Wadsworth Horizon which was followed by an excellent starter of scallops with black pudding. For mains it was Sunday roasts, one beef and one slow roasted belly pork with crackling. Served with all the trimmings, the portions were tasty and substantial. A special thank you to the landlady and landlord for their kindness as on learning that we were there to celebrate our wedding anniversary we were given a complimentary glass of “fizz”. It made our meal and we would like to thank them again. If you enjoy traditional pubs based in old buildings serving traditional ales and good food then this is the place to go. Would highly recommend and would certainly return.

Have eaten here before and when I read my previous review I see I had the same main course, smoked haddock kedgeree and poached egg. I had seared scallops , black pudding fritter ,pancetta and cauliflower puree to start, it was £10 and certainly not worth it, the scallops and fritter were tiny. The staff seem disorganised and twice drinks we ordered did not appear, there were not many customers so I wouldn't want to go there when they are busy. It is a lovely old inn very atmospheric. I expect we will be back again as we were visiting friends and it seems to be one of their favourite places to eat.

Following a few lovely experiences in the past, we booked a Sunday lunch. When showed to our table that was against a hot radiator I requested an alternative table (for 2) of which there were a few available. On being told that they were fully booked so not possible, we sat and ordered. No other tables were taken during our meal. My wife ordered the vegan roast which was served with a standard yorkshire pudding, and I had a pie. Waitress took my wifes plate back to kitchen to take off the yorkshire which took far too long to return, and my pie was too tough - very over baked, and meagre veg. 3 stars due to previous visits, charming building & location. But, wake up management…sad to say we wont be returning in a hurry.

What an excellent find by me. We stayed for 4 nights, so we had plenty of experience of the place Accommodation was excellent in contained 4 room units. So warm and clean. Visited the Colebourne on a Sunday afternoon with friends. All of us were more than impressed with the quality of the food. Starters and mains were absolutely excellent. Lovely venue, cosy and warm with real fireplaces, and a good ambiance, really homely. Would definitely recommend 😊

Well, this was a lovely BB & spotless. The room was so comfortable & presented lovely with all facilities you would need. Had the best night sleep. The pub itself was absolutely beautiful & the staff & the couple who run the business were very welcoming & couldn’t do enough for you. They are short staffed but still didn’t fail to provide us with excellent food & drink without us waiting. The full English breakfast was amazing with lots of other choices like fresh fruit, yogurts. Cereal etc. Thank you all so much for making our stay fantastic & will we be back? Most definitely 😁

After a lovely 2 hr walk in the area, we had booked for lunch. We were given a warm welcome and sat outside overlooking the beautiful garden with lots of birds flitting about to the bird feeders in the trees.The food was top notch. I had the sea bass with risotto which was delicious, the best sea bass I've had for ages. The pies were excellent, as was the chicken in parma ham. Very good quality and very helpful and pleasant staff. I would highly recommend the food and atmosphere here. Reasonably priced, good value, top quality.

Looking forward to Sunday lunch. Hugh disappointment after been recommended by several people. Sourdough toast for chicken liver parfait was only toasted in one side. Prosecco was flat and when mentioned the waitress said would be the same if I ordered another glass. Dare not ask if she could open a new bottle. The roast beef was tough and as for the roast potatoes who wants to eat day old potatoes heated up. The young waitress was polite and efficient, however the older waitress clearly had an attitude. A return visit immediately after lockdown 2. So many pubs have a very limited boring menu at present - burgers/pizzas - not so here - a full interesting menu. Excellent COVID compliance - well spaced tables etc. I gather still very quiet for mid-week lunches - we are returning for Sunday lunch - well worth the drive.We enjoy the Landlord's dry Northumbrian humour - adds to the experience.

Arrived flustered after stressful trip down country lane teaming with pheasants so the friendly welcome from staff and quiet ambiance of the restaurant was wonderful. Wide menu choice including unusual items like swordfish. Prompt service though we did have to ask twice for sauce offered but never brought. Delicious food. Highly recommended.

We stayed 3 nights and had two lovely evening meals and cracking breakfast.The location is perfect for exploring the area and the beautiful Cirencester is only 6 miles away with a bus stop outside the Inn should wish to leave the car and sample the delights of the bars and restaurants in Cirencester. Our room was basic nothing special, it was comfortable.The Manager was an interesting chap from the North East, who had a very dry personality, some people would take this as being rude, being from Nottingham it wasn't an issue with us.Highly recommend a visit

We met up with a friend who lived in the area, our first meeting after 22 years. Upon booking the table, the manner in which the woman took the booking was quite functional and bland not welcoming at all. They stated that dogs were welcome and we took our two dogs with us. We decided to have a light lunch whilst we were there. The food was nice and the pricing was a little high for what it was. The waitress was not keen on the dogs and didn't make us feel very welcome. My 8 month old puppy accidently did a wee before we left, which she has never done before (I take it she felt uncomfortable in the pub too) and I asked for a cloth to clear it up. The woman at the bar rolled her eyes and handed me a blue roll stating that was all she had. I cleared it up and disposed of the paper in the bathroom. The atmosphere was tense and ruined what had been a great reunion. A real shame as the pub was lovely and the food was lovely but the atmosphere and staff were not welcoming or civil.

Una bonita posada con un jardín en el que puedes sentarte en la parte trasera de la propiedad. Comimos en el bar y la comida era buena. Nos alojamos por una noche, la habitación estaba limpia pero el baño necesita urgentemente una reforma, también teníamos vistas a la calle principal y era extremadamente ruidoso, una habitación en la parte de atrás podría ser más tranquila.

Stayed here for 1 night of our weekend away. It’s a Lovely pub. Breakfast was really nice and cooked to order. We were given a room away from the pub in a small converted building. Very spacious with a big bed and en-suite bathroom with bath, the rear door lead to a small garden which was lovely. It was nice and peaceful even though it was close to the main road. The room had tea and coffee making and fresh milk was available from reception.

Great service and the food is wonderful. The restaurant is very convenient for guests staying at the inn.

So it’s New Year’s Day and we finished our walk, so on the way home we popped in for a beer and a starter (our main was in the slow cooker at home). We had a lovely home made soup and a great ale. Very warm and welcoming, friendly atmosphere. We love this place and might try the burger night tomorrow or next Thursday. Burger nights on Thursday - great selection!!!

I’ve eaten at this pub at least 7 or 8 times. I’ve experienced the unwelcoming management behind the bar on a couple of occasions, and once made to feel uncomfortable, but as the food has always been good and the waitresses have been pleasant we have returned. (It’s also convenient as we have family in the village.) Having tried other local pubs looking for a meal in the week before Christmas, which were all full to the rafters, we found the Colesbourne to be near empty and ate there. I found the food quality was not as good as it has been in the past. I chose the duck at £21.95, and found the duck bonbon and cabbage parcel to be fairly bland, although the blackberry jus was tasty. I had the chocolate fondant from the set menu after as I had set my heart on it, but sadly it was clearly bought in and not made freshly on the premises as I would have expected, and left me disappointed. I appreciate the staff accommodating my request though. My partner enjoyed his ham, egg and chips and sticky toffee pudding.

the food , pub and restaurant were good. friendly staff. we were booked in for a couple of nights but left early due to the road noise outside. there weren't any rooms available at the rear of the Inn. shame, the gardens at the back were lovely. maybe consider sound proof door- we could see day light under the foot of the door, hence the noise level I think. lovely spot to tour from

Una excelente posada amigable. La comida era excelente, puedo recomendar de todo corazón el almuerzo del domingo de carne y el pescado y las patatas fritas son excelentes. Las porciones son muy buenas y excelente relación calidad-precio. Wir hatten die Colesbourne Inn im Voraus für sieben Tage gebucht und waren mit unserer Wahl sehr zufrieden. Von dort erreichten wir alle Attraktionen in maximal einer Fahrstunde. Das Zimmer im benachbarten Cottage war geräumig, sauber und gut geheizt. Das Frühstück im Hauptgebäude war lecker, besonders der griechische Joghurt und das Müsli haben mir gefallen. Es gab auch warmes Frühstück.

An initial visit to this establishment following a recommendation by friends proved disastrous.! On a positive note, the ambience in the pub was warm and cosy; however, the quality of the fish & chips supper was appalling. I don't think I have ever suffered so many bones in my mouth; those with me suffered similarly if not to the same extent. and the few chips served with each portion looked

We stayed here 4 years ago last March. We had a wonderful time then, and we have had a wonderful time this time. The staff are very nice and friendly the food is excellent, the rooms are very clean and spacious. I would recommend this Inn to all my family and friends.

Ate an evening meal here - there is a good choice on the menu, including specials that looked superb - we went for lamb with beetroot and green vegetables - lamb was perfectly cooked and the beetroot made a great accompaniment. Dessert - white chocolate creme brûlée with fruit and a rhubarb and ginger cheesecake - tasty both! Can well recommend this place !

Buono e abbondante full English Breakfast, abbiamo avuto anche la possibilità di gustare anche altri tipi di pasto, fish and cheaps, o dei burghers molto buoni per cena e devo dire che ci sono piaciuti considerando appunto l' aspetto qualità /prezzo, Per esempio per due porzioni di fish and cheaps, abbiamo speso £ 14,00 birra compresa che è buonissima!

I met friends and we sat outside at the rear of the inn with lovely views of the countryside and garden. The food was excellent . They had a glueton free menu with a lot of choice. I had a tasty chicken dish. We were not rushed and enjoyed a relaxing evening. I will be going back. They also allow dogs out in the garden.

Hemos estado en este pub durante los últimos 8 años, siempre decimos que esta es una de las mejores comidas de la zona, sin embargo, ayer nos fuimos muy decepcionados, no con la comida, sino cómo respondió la gerencia, o mejor dicho, dijo "no responder ”después de un incidente ocurrido durante nuestro almuerzo. La joven camarera, desafortunadamente, dejó caer accidentalmente un frasco de salsa muy caliente sobre mi esposo, quemándole parcialmente el brazo y ensuciando toda su ropa (polo, jeans y zapatos). Nos alojamos un par de noches durante el fin de semana. Capaz de relajarse en el hermoso y tranquilo jardín en las dos noches y observar la maravillosa vida salvaje mientras disfruta del excelente menú de la noche. El desayuno inglés completo también es excelente. Gracias especiales a Mark (chef), Shern (camarero de Turquía y espero que escribí su nombre correctamente) y Carol (limpieza) pero de hecho todos fueron muy amables. La habitación era muy espaciosa y con una buena relación calidad-precio, aunque una habitación doble con bañera y sin ducha es inusual.

Un lugar encantador para detenerse a almorzar, especialmente en un día soleado, ya que tienen el jardín más encantador con muchas especies de aves para observar mientras disfrutan de una bebida y un almuerzo. El menú del almuerzo era excelente, con diferentes opciones de los menús habituales de pub. El servicio era bueno, con una sonrisa y un ambiente encantador en el bar.

After a big family celebratory evening we were looking forward to a meal here to finish off our weekend. The food was very good with generous portions, waiting staff were pleasant and attentive but the gentleman running the bar (which I think could be the owner) needs to go back to pub charm school. From the beginning we were seen as a hindrance and the simple request of us all taking a drink in the bar could not be accommodated as apparently there was another party of 9 coming in after us. Needless to say, the restaurant was near empty when we finished and certainly no sight of a party of 9! I also took great exception to the way my 11 year old was spoken to after politely asking where the toilets were.... only to be told there was a sign!! Think someone needs to point out to these owners that the pub/restaurant business is a whole service AND food experience. Shame as we are from a local village.... we will not be returning!!!

Our daughter wanted to treat her Mother to lunch and as this place was convenient for all we booked here, from the beginning we felt that we were being rushed through we had barely sat down when the manager? Was chasing us for our order. As it was Mothers Day they had a promotion of a " glass of bubbles" for Mum, we overheard a conversation between the manager and waiting staff where he told them, " don't offer it and only if they ask!" We thought nothing more until our daughter went to settle the bill and was firstly asked to pay for a bottle of prosecco but when this was challenged had to argue that her mother had only had one glass and that should have been complimentary. We then realised the significance of the overheard conversation. While the food it's self was reasonable the service was not great. Probably would not reconsider this again.

It’s always hard finding somewhere to go for Sunday lunch, especially at short notice. Coming here is a really good find! We came at 2pm to find a charming place for dinner; not over crowded or too busy but really friendly, cosy, food is great, good ales and we had some drinks and our dessert by the fire. A great find, this will become a regular for us. A place we will be able to go for Sunday lunch up until 7pm in the evening!!!! A bit Auntie Bessie by who doesn’t love home roast mum style. Friendly pub with comfortable and well priced rooms with close proximity of several places of interest.

Time to write another review, I should get paid for this! I took a colleague to my favourite English pub, he had bitter and fish and chips, I had the duck. Food was excellent as usual, always worth the drive over. The rooms are excellent too, though accept you are out in the sticks. Sit near one of the log fires and relax, if you have to do emails the Wi-Fi is good too.

Visited Colesbourne to see the snowdrops so thought we’d stay over a couple of nights in the local inn. We have not been disappointed. Warm and friendly service, super cosy pub, delicious food and comfortable accommodation make this a highly recommended destination for anyone wanting a stay in the area.

We stayed two nights here, and had breakfast and dinner on both. We asked for a room at the back to avoid any traffic noise, and our room in the Annexe (Room 10) was very comfortable, clean and spacious. It would be improved by having a choice of soft and firm pillows as all four were fairly hard. The food was fresh and delicious but pretty expensive for pub fare, ditto the alcohol, but the ambience was really lovely and the staff friendly. The location is great for driving pretty much everywhere in the Cotswolds. It’s a gentle country stroll to the pretty local churchyard and Colesbourne Park, well worth it for the abundant snowdrops in February. Overall we’d recommend it but feel it’s a bit overpriced.

We arrived in time for lunch, fish and chips by a log fire on a very cold day, all excellent, fish beautifully cooked and such good value.

I had booked a table in the bar area as my family who were visiting us remembered the bar when they lived in Cheltenham many years ago. Another son decided to join us and I rang to confirm there would be 7 in the party. I was very disappointed when I was told that it was not possible for 7 people to be sat at a table in the bar area and was thinking of going elsewhere. However a friendly bar man/waiter suggested we look at the main restaurant and I am glad we did as I had not remembered it has also having the olde worldie atmosphere as around the bar area. The 2 males waiters and a very cheerful young lady were all helpful and welcoming and attentive without being overwhelming. They really did make us feel welcome. We all had different choices of meals and we all agreed that the food was excellent and well worth the short wait. Prices are on the high side but well worth the extra. Will certainly go back again but would choose the bar area as we have done in the past when there are only two of us thanks to the helpful and friendly staff. Had it not been for them we would have gone elsewhere.

We’ve had three Sunday roasts here and on all occasions the food was of a high standard and the service friendly and attentative. There is a cosy bar area with leather chesterfields to enjoy a drink before your meal and the restaurant area has a good ambience. This is a lovely pub if you want to enjoy good traditional food in a relaxing environment.

Stayed here for two nights. The room was warm and cosy. It was clean upon arrival and the radiator was switched on which was lovely on a cold December afternoon. Inn staff were friendly and helpful. We ate here for breakfast and dinner both days and the food was really nice and good value for money, especially grill night. We stayed in the bar for a few hours next to the fire and it was a very relaxed, friendly atmosphere.
