We've stayed at the Seagrave a few times, though this was the first for a few years. The room was stunning, a little occasional road noise but that's to be expected in a busy little village on a Saturday night! Dinner was brilliant, as was breakfast. The staff we spoke to were all friendly and helpful. We'll be back!

My husband and I returned to the Seagrave Arms recently on our way home to London from up North. We wanted to stay at this lovely little Inn again as we remembered it being lovely with great food, great service and very clean and smart.Unfortunately since it has been taken over with a New Management Group (unbeknown to us) we were very disappointed at how this once little gem has suffered with a new owner. The food was awful, Mushroom soup was lumpy lacked any taste, the bread had been warmed up in microwave (menu claiming to be all homemade!) the dining room lacked atmosphere, the glasses on the table were dirty, had to ask the waitress if she would lite our table candle - doing so she then decided to lite the candles on the other tables even though nobody was sitting at them! Our fish & chips (Haddock with soft mushy batter) and (award winning chips) were frozen potato wedges piled underneath the fish! The tartar sauce was smeared across the plate served with a spoonful of frozen packet peas! There wasn't even a lemon wedge on the plate or the offer of vinegar! The area outside our room was shabby with cupboard doors hanging off, a stepladder, an ironing board and a floor mop along with heaps of bedlinen were all leaned up against the wall outside our room! The carpet was dirty and threadbare - some even with holes! Thank goodness the bed was comfortable and the bedlinen and bathroom towels were spotless. As for the rest of the room, it all looked very unkempt and tired looking. The breakfast the following morning was ok. Needless to say we will not be returning, its a great shame as The Seagrave Arms was once a delightful place to eat and stay at.

Thought we would give the new management a go. Can’t say it was awful but lacked professionalism. It all seemed a little strained. No candle lit at the table although it was there on a saucer! Claimed award winning chips but that wasn’t them it was before they arrived. No wow factor but such a nice building they could make it so much better. Fairy lights hanging across pictures but it was like they had been thrown not placed just needs a little effort and it could be thriving

The staff were friendly and the place was clean and tidy. However, I was a bit disappointed by the poor selection of vegetarian options available on the menu. Service was shocking from the moment we entered, disinterested youths working the bar and restaurant, I use the term working very loosely as they seemed to spend most of there time on their phones or popping off for cigarette breaks. This is one of our local resturants which today we decided to try. There were only 5 other diners when we arrived. The sunday main course varied between £12 & £18 each. My husband decided on beef (he said was very tasty)at £17, I had the chicken (which was very dry). We had to wait an hour from ordering to it arriving. We asked for the dessert menu. All priced at £7 or cheese at £8. My husband ordered the banoffee pie and I the chocolate mousse. The former arrived as a water glass with broken digestive biscuits covered with banana instant whip with dried banana on the top. Later described as banana paerfait. The chocolate mousse was about a tablespoon size amount in a very small chocolate dish with 1 and a half strawberries and 4 blueberries. My husband had 2 pints of shandy. The bill came to £61.49. On closer reading the shandies cost near £10. In addition to this they put a £5.59 service charge!!! We I went back we were refunded the service charge and an extra £1.20 for something we never had. Please avoid this place.

Been coming here for years every month but a change in management has seen this place become a substandard restaurant, so many issues starting with a lack of warmth upon entering, dirty glasses, no steak knife on table, ordered greens which was just kale and butter, chips cut into huge wedges, no finesse to food, might as well go to a steak grill, manager only appeared at the end of the meal despite an issue with one of the courses. Last manager was excellent so such a shame to see this place decline so rapidly, will not be returning.

I like this place, its friendly and has a lovely atmosphere, however the standard of food varies so much. I have eaten here over a dozen times, and they have a tendency to really under cook things, so choose carefully what you pick from the menu as it could well be cooked far less than you want or expect. Ok ish..if its a steak, but not so good with other meats. If it wasn't for this I would rate The Seagrave Arms much higher, as its a lovely place and the staff are very helpful and friendly.

We visited for dinner and walked to the location and from initial impressions it looked great. The decor is lovely however having the TV on ruined the atmosphere you were trying to create with 'Big Bang Theory' on - perhaps try some music. Before booking a table we looked at their website and liked what we saw and noted that Mondays was 'Pie Night' - perfect. In the bar area allows dogs which is small and the table given was mismatched with the chairs - this meant our legs couldn't comfortably get under the table.Upon looking at the provided menus we quickly realised we both had different menus and upon confirming the correct one I was also informed that Pie Night was no longer being done and the website was a month out of date. The barman was very kind and brought Biscuits for our dog and when the food came it looked amazing. We visited The Seagrave Arms as a party of 4 for a meal to celebrate my eldest sons' 23rd birthday on a Sunday evening. Last orders for food are at 7pm so we booked for 6pm. It had been a beautiful day and we were looking forward to tucking in to a good meal after a long walk. I'd picked the pub from my 2015 Good Food Guide ap (it is no longer in GFG which we were not surprised to hear). We were shown to a table in a back room, which I think would have been cosy in winter with the fire glowing but was a bit soulless and quite dark. Later diners were shown to tables in the lighter front room of the pub leaving us as the only diners in our room. This pub had top end gastropub prices but the food fell quite short of what you might expect for the price. We were brought bread at the start and told it was freshly baked. Although two of the pieces were OK two of us had pieces that were raw in the middle. When we pointed this out to the waitress she wasn't at all apologetic and said that they'd been serving it all day and no-one else had had a problem! I squeezed my bread between my fingers and it returned to a ball of dough but even on seeing that she seemed reluctant to change it. The bread had also been made using little or no salt so even the two cooked bits (presumably from the end of the loaf) were tasteless. Thankfully our replacements were better. Two of our party had the steak and chips and were impressed, especially with the chips, but still felt the price was high for what they were served (£22). I had salmon that came with a tarragon sauce. However said sauce was chopped raw white onions in vinegar with tarragon - it was not a cooked sauce. As fish goes, salmon is quite robust, but this just wasn't right. Again this meal was over £20 and was just a slab of salmon, some (tasty) potatoes and the strange sauce (which I decided not to continue with after tasting). My son also had fish and thought it had been seriously over seasoned and the crust was very salty. By this stage we had a serious lack of confidence in the food and decided to give the puds a miss. Maybe they'll be good - we will never know! However the main courses hadn't been that filling so we decided to try one of the cheese plates between us. The cheese selection was really good, although I'm not sure why they warmed the biscuits up as they went a bit soggy. So all in all some things were good, but some weren't, and at that price point I'd expect a lot more. The meal cost well over £100 and we didn't have a bottle of wine or coffee etc. We've eaten at some fantastic places recently and this one was a bit of a disappointment. If you do decide to go there for a meal avoid Sunday evening and go for the steak and chips then you might come away with a more positive view than we had.

We were so excited about coming back after having such a great meal last summer...having recently moved near by was hopeful this could become a regular..it felt like a completely different restaurant so don't know if it's had a change of ownership. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. The high prices are not justified given the lack of chefferie in the cooking. I had Salmon, which given it was £20 was a tiny unseasoned poached piece of salmon with a small fondant style potato and a cold salsa..my husband had pork which was tasty, however the cassoulet it came with seriously lacked any seasoning.. veg was extra and clearly forgotten as we had to chase it and it was undercooked and poorly presented. The service was pretty awful and very slow, we had to chase to order wine, we saw a number of tables having to chase to order, or chase drinks they had ordered a while beforehand. Also the table next to us had the wrong meal. Clearly some better organisation and customer service is in need. I don't think the waiting staff really cared, maybe they thought everyone was a tourist so it didn't matter. I was also horrified to overhear a foreign guest questioning his salmon to ask if it was cooked, to be told it was supposed to be like that. It was raw and given I had had the same dish, cooked through, one of us clearly had an incorrectly cooked dish. So disappointing we sadly won't be back.

This is not pub food as many places move away from traditional pub grub, but if you're looking for that in between fodder, then this is a great spot. Fish n chip batter was amazingly light and fish fresh and perfectly cooked. Deserts were awesome, particularly the chocolate pave with tasty espresso cream. But if you want espresso perhaps get your shot through this as the coffee espresso isn't really an espresso! All in all, well worth a Sunday lunch with a decent draft ale.

My wife and I ate there for dinner. We had a friendly welcome and were quickly seated. We both ordered dishes with risotto, which was clearly cooked to order as the food took quite a while to arrive. Both dishes were delicious. We also had string beans and seafood broth, again both excellent, although the seafood broth could have been a bit more generous in its portions. If I were just rating the food, the Seagrave Arms would get a four, possibly a five, although it was on the expensive side. But the service left something to be desired. One waiter was friendly and helpful but harried. The other was friendly but hapless. We asked for tap water, had to ask for it a second time, and had to wait almost fifteen minutes before it arrived. There were only two cask beers on tap and one of them had run out, The remaining beer was stale, flat and smelled of mushrooms. I should have returned the pint but it was the end of a long day and I drank the beer for its alcohol, not for the pleasure of the taste. My wife had a gin and tonic but had a hard time finding the gin.

It's been awhile since we last went here and it is now under new management. Fergus was not there last night and so we did not meet him which was a shame as we had a good relationship with the previous managers. It was a little disconcerting to be welcomed with the limitations on the menu - we had a 7.30pm Saturday night booking and I would not expect dishes to be running out at that point. However, we were 6 people and all ordered different dishes and all were very good. The Seagrave Arms has the reputation for having the best (in the world) chips and I can confirm that the chips are AMAZING!!! My main course was guinea fowl and I was very impressed that Ian, the chef, responded to my not liking the accompanying mustard sauce by replacing it with chestnut sauce and a lovely jus - delicious. I am continuing to recommend this restaurant.

Sunday evening isn't a busy time for dinner, so the place was quiet (which suited us very well). Friendly welcome from a cheery woman. They'd been busy at lunchtime, so all the specials were sold out, but that's the risk you take on a Sunday. The starters were both excellent, especially the cauliflower soup with blue cheese toastie. We both had the tri tip steak, which was a tad disappointing: although the flavour was good, the meat was chewy. The famous chips lived up to their reputation - completely excellent. No room for pudding, though there were some tempting choices.

On Arrival at the Seagrave Arms for our evening Meal on the evening of Monday the 20th Of February at 18.30 my husband and I were greeted by a lovely young lady who's smile lit up the room, she showed us to our table and proceeded for the rest of the evening to be very informative if we asked questions about not only our meal, but the selection of drinks available, her managers should be very proud to have a member of there team that is so very passionate about there job and I hope they hold on to her as someone like that can be a huge asset to any business.although the meal we had was very enjoyable it was very over priced and very small portions. in the bar area although very cosy there was only 3 small tables and chairs so an idea would be to take the large eating table out and possibly put another couple of small tables and chairs, we would eat at the Seagrave Arms again as the ambience is lovely, but being the only pub in the village that is open 7 days it would be worth lowering the prices and more choices to attract not only the tourists, but the locals. all the staff were professional and friendly,

We were due to meet up with friends for lunch and both been to the Seagrave seperately on different occasions so thought it might be a good place to meetWe arrived at 1pm to find it near empty and on previous occasions burrsting at the seams... then we found out why as the meal went on as it was very average and hugely dissapointing and no comparison to previous visits. The hostess was loud and brash and delivered drinks by spilling them on our friendStarters I enjoyed, beetroot risotto, but the ladies found the cauliflower soup so thick it was inedible. It looked almost set and you could write your name in it.I enjoyed my main course but my wife didnt enjoy her beef finding it tough, strange flavoured yorkshire pudding and undercooked turnipsDessert arrived and again the apple a pear crumble with just fruit and granola thrown on top, the custard was milk with icing sugar and fridge cold, we asked why, and the manager said it should be hot and she saw it being poured !!! She then touched it realised it was stone cold removed it, microwaved it and returned and walked off.The restaurant was almost empty when we left and they took off the cauliflower soup and desserts as a gesture. We didnt want that, we just wanted a nice lunch.Overall dissapointing, and think we will find somewhere for sunday lunch in the future.A real shame. The upside ... we met our friends who we never get to see after a year, we wont leave it so long next time.

My visit was on a freezing cold day, you know the sort. Blue skies, icy roads. Sunshine and bitter cold. We'd wrapped up warm. Scarves, gloves and hats. Yes that cold. So when arriving at the pub for lunch, having booked online requesting a table near the fire, we were surprised and annoyed to be shown into the empty cold restaurant without any explanation. The fire in the hearth hadn't been lit for a while. Instead two candles sat in the hearth. Even they were not lit. If a pub can't get the basics right there's a serious problem. Service was so slow. The order was taken by the manager. He said the previous manager had left 5 days before Xmas. He came. Ack and served bread and butter. The quenelle of butter, which was served straight from the freezer was rancid. The manager returned to advise that the pie was' off'. He explained- The chef had taken it out of the fridge to serve but the manager had decided it was off and overruled him stating 'it was too risky to serve'. I would not recommend this pub anytime soon.

Some people talk about their mums homemade cooking when they think back about great food, I can't do that as my mum was a rubbish cook.....great mum, rubbish, rubbish in the kitchen. Now I think this meal struck a cord, as..... perfect fish (halibut), hazel nut compote (I love nuts), grilled artichoke, Lentil dall, great chips and a little bit of overlooked pork belly. It was all there.Lovely surroundings, nice smiley people and comfy rooms.Get yourself down there.

From the outside this pub is a pretty Cotswold inn. As you walk inside you are greeted with traditional fixtures and fittings, open fires and cosy rooms. The staff are very present too. Unfortunately this is where my positivity ends, the food was over priced which given the surrounding I could overlook however when your plates arrive you have that sinking feeling of being hugely underwhelmed! Small portions, over cooked and bland. Over to you to give it s go?!

4 of us had a meal recently in this lovely setting. Unfortunately the meal was disappointing. The flat iron steak was not as tender as anticipated and the fish portions were less than expected. My crumble when served was cold in the centre and had to be sent back. The replacement was good but I had to eat alone as my companions had already finished this course. The meal overall was expensive for the satisfaction we had as an experience.

The food was to die for, one of the best pub meals we had in a long time. Staff was lovely and the food came out quickly. After a 90 minute walk the drinks went down a treat- what more could you want?

The Seagrave Arms is a beautiful cotswold building with a wonderful welcoming feeling,Me and my partner ate at this wonderful restaurant on tuesday evening, we both chose the delicious Ham egg and fries which was very flavoursome and well presented, but sadly the noise from the kitchen was very disruptive and at times very of putting but other than that we had a wonderful evening and hope to dine at the seagrave arms again.

We had booked a night at the Seagrave Arms and decided to eat in the restaurant as part of our stay. I had looked at their menu before we arrived and I was really looking forward to the food and was not disappointed. I was the only one who had a starter, which was the smoked salmon. Whilst I had that, the waitress had also brought out some poppy seed bread which had been freshly baked that day, It was delicious, it was the right combination of spongy, with a light crust, we asked for another serving it was so good! Then the mains, everything was beautifully presented 2 of us had the steak, my husband had the John Dory and our friend had the wood pigeon. Their award winning triple cooked chips did not disappoint lovely and crispy on the outside and fluffy inside, steak was cooked to perfection. I had the Bakewell for dessert, which looked a little burnt on the edge but still tasted good. We had a very relaxed evening and enjoyed the food, and the service was good.

3 strikes and you’re outWe've just moved into the area very close to the Seagrave Arms so we were willing the place to be lovely. The decor is cosy and the staff very welcoming but it’s more my grans sitting room than shabby chic.We sat down to our meal the restaurant was about half full and ordered their go to dish of flat iron steak only to be told they had sold out. (Strike 1)I had whitebait to start which was nice and then we ordered fish and chips and halibut. My fish was disappointing, soggy batter that when removed revealed a tiny piece of fish, the chips were lovely but small portions are served in large ramekins. (Strike 2)My wife’s food was OK but nothing to get excited about.I got an apology for the soggy fish and we left feeling disappointed, the Seagrave Arms is not cheap. 1 starter, 2 mains, 1 glass of wine (from a very limited wine list) and a beer with the added-on service came to over £70 that sort of price point I expected better. (Strike 3)In summary I feel if they are pitching themselves at the higher end of the gastropub market with starters £8 to £9.50 and mains £20 to £26 then they need to up their game.

My family and I were staying in Chipping Campden and my parents fancied fish and chips for this supper! So I had a look on TripAdviser and saw the Chinese takeaway in the village had poor reviews but noticed this pub in a neighbouring village. So we booked a table (after checking fish and chips were on the menu). Four of us had the fish and chips, which looked very nice whilst I had steak and chips which were very good. One person had a baked Alaska and another had pannacotta, which they both enjoyed. We also had a very good bottle of Malbec. We all had a good evening.

We arrived late after a long drive from South Wales, we wanted to eat but were tired. Didn't want a pantomime but needed good food. You delivered. The Flat Iron Steak was as good a serving of good red protein I can any I've ever eaten. Tthere was just the right choice of wines by the glass to wash it down and I was offered a menu of gins for my G&T. Serice was prompt, efficient and unfussy. And it's not really relevant but next morning's breakfast was also excellent.

Delicious, tasty and beautifully presented food. Staff extremely friendly, attentive and nothing too much trouble. Chips were as we were lead to believe..the best. If you bring a mum who lives on the coast and loves her fish and says this is one of the best you know it's good. Ok it's pricey for a pub but no complaints at all and the food was well worth it. Thoroughly enjoyed by all thank you

Have eaten here twice in the last couple of weeks - and on both occasions the staff were fantastic - professional, warm and welcoming. We loved their specialty G&Ts (our favourite was Twisted Nose with grapefruit peel and watercress!) and found the menu interesting and inventive. However the prices seemed very steep given the portion sizes (which were definitely smaller than average!).The bar was beautifully decorated and our dogs were made very welcome - and given water and treats.

Stopped off in the Cotswold area on the way to Oxford to wait for our first grandchild to be born and went to a few pubs who either weren't doing food or where we felt unwelcome.Stopped here and had the most wonderful quick bite to eat and a great conversation with the young man working. We were the only people there and we felt so special from the get go. Proper (not New Zealand thank god!) Whitebait with Homemade Garlic Mayo and the Salt Beef Sandwich with a few leaves on the side were beautiful, but we were able to just relax and sit in a nice place and have someone who actually wanted to make our visit there good.I'd said the chairs were a bit uncomfortable, but even my slightest niggle had a solution and I was brought a pillow and blanket straight away. Gentleman appeared to be the only one working (not surprised it seems quiet, maybe busier on weekends) and gave us his full attention, talking about the area and the hotel itself, but genuinely interested in us which is refreshing after a 4 hour car journey with your husband!£20 for two people food and two drinks, a lovely place and very impressed. Shame about the weather!

We said we would be back after our excellent lunch earlier in the year (in the snow). Dinner last Saturday evening was truly excellent; a succulent duck dish and the most tender shoulder of lamb were equally outstanding. Stayed here as close to family and one of the few places in the area that would accept a one night stay (most wanted minimum 2 nights). Room was to a high standard with excellent shower - despite being next to main road the windows were soundproofed and we had an excellent nights sleep. The restaurant, whilst being expensive, serves exquisite food and the staff are very friendly and knowledgable. If you have any preconceptions about "nouvelle cuisine" forget them and just savour the food, it's truly excellent - the chef is a master. Ditto, the breakfast - the full English is in a different world - just wish they would double up on everything as you only get one egg, one sausage etc .Overall, the stay was not cheap but the staff are brilliant, the food excellent, location central and the rooms above average - only downside is the limited parking.

We've stayed here several times and loved it every time. I'll start by saying that I believe the current owners are making a fine job of both the hotel and restaurant sides of the business. We have stayed in a number of the rooms and would describe them as comfortable rather than luxurious as most are fairly small with small bathrooms. I think it is only the suite that actually has a bath. There is a nice pub bar which it is good to see that locals are using again, and we were made to feel very welcome. There is some good real ale on tap, always a bonus! The food is very tasty, but some is starting to look expensive for what you get. For example, my wife had a single, fairly small, stuffed mushroom as a starter; not a lot for £8.00. I couldn't decide between the scallop or belly pork starter, and the, clearly disgruntled, waitress suggested the belly pork "as you only get one scallop". Good food, but...hence my title. There's a fairly short but imaginative wine list on offer which seems fairly priced by restaurant standards.Breakfast is excellent, with good local meats in the full English, and I can recommend the scrambled eggs and smoked salmon.Well worth a visit.

Stayed here last weekend (23-24 April) when walking the Cotswold Way. Room was very well-appointed and the bed was really comfortable. The attention to detail was fabulous - from the fresh milk for your tea and coffee (and lovely tea and coffee) to the gorgeous hot water bottles. But it was the food that was really stand out. Our dinner was superb and the breakfast was perfect. I've never seen DIY muesli in a hotel before and it's a great idea. I've been putting cinnamon in my own homemade muesli ever since. And I can't finish without mentioning the service - really friendly and helpful. I really can't recommend it more highly. Thank you!

We visited for lunch. The menu was varied and interesting. The "ham" egg and chips was spectacular - I've never had such a thick and juicy slice of ham and the butter sauce, poached egg and broccoli complimented it perfectly. My wife had a risotto which was thick and creamy. Some may regard the prices as a little steep, but like most things, you get what you pay for. Such a shame that the constant stream of heavy lorries en route to Honeybourne, Evesham and the M5 interrupt a leisurely drink in the garden!
