Stunning setting, just beautiful any time of year, a regular haunt for decades. But the soft drink pricing : £5 for a small Appletiser sparkling juice is just beyond… (If we had been a family of four, that would be £20 for little more than a litre of sparkling juice). Went to eat - decided against.

Couldn’t understand why a small bottle of Elderflower or Apple tizer was the same price as a pint of Beer? Are they trying to encourage drink drivers! If we had seen the price of the soft drinks before ordering my friend and I would have walked away. As it was we drunk our drinks and didn’t bother ordering lunch as all the mains were £20 or over including fish and chips at £21 plus of course the 12.5% service charge. Yes I accept the fact prices have gone up, but for a pub charging prices like his he locals will go elsewhere as we did.

Amazing Sunday roast! Blessed by beautiful late summer good weather we were able to switch our table reservation to a table outside under the canvas awning which provided a beautiful view of the picturesque village. We received excellent attentive service and three of us enjoyed a thickly cut sirloin beef roast dinner piled high with all the trimmings of 3 tasty vegetables, duck fat roasted potatoes, and Yorkshire pudding with horseradish on the side. Extra gravy was automatically provided for the table. Our fourth selected the sea bass. All were absolutely delicious and very generous portion sizes!

We had the very misleading and insufficient set menu for £20 each- two courses each. The portions were incredibly small. The starter was a quarter of a burrata with a few tomatoes. The main course was 4 pieces of gnocchi in a small bowl of oil- not even a starter style portion. The waiter advised us that the point of a set menu is not to leave you too full. However, even with both courses on the same plate this entire set menu would be a meagre main course. We left still hungry. With service charge we paid 45 pounds- extraordinarily overpriced.

The food was very good, but unfortunately the portions were very small, and we, too, like a previous contributor to Trip Advisor, ended up raiding the fridge upon our return. Whilst I appreciate that staff costs account for a massive part of the cost of the food, the cost of the raw materials themselves must only make up a fraction of the price charged, as there were so few of them! And the imposition of an 'optional' service charge of 12.5% must certainly help in subsidising staff costs, somewhat laughably listed on the bill as for parties of '1 or larger'. They know you can get away with this as people don't want to make a fuss: instead they won't come back. Although we live locally, we don’t form part of the mega-rich community of the Cotswolds who can be milked with impunity. Bottom line is I don't think £55 each for two small courses and a few drinks is value for money.

We found the Victoria Inn quite by accident during a pub crawl looking for a decent pub having walked in & straight out of a couple prior to finding the Victoria which is a quintessential English pub off the beaten track in a beautiful hamlet. It is an Arkells pub run by excellent hosts Tom & Maya, very laid back, subdued lighting, jazz background music all contributing to a fab ambiance. Very busy & openly ‘clicky’ in a civilised way & very well supported by very friendly locals & their lovely dogs! Saturday when we visited was busy, Sunday absolutely full & despite the pouring rain the outside Butterfly Canopy areas were full with locals & dogs some who had walked & got soaked but all sat chatting drinking or enjoying their Sunday Roasts. Wow! Well worth a visit if you ‘go with the flow!’ Some have reviewed not cheap but it horses for courses! Word of warning closed on Monday & Tuesday.

Couples Sunday Lunch Beautiful Country Pub Lovely Quaint Cotswold Village Roast Beef £26 We sat outside, ordered some bread. As that arrived so did our Roast Beef. This gave me a slight worry that everything was pre cooked and just sat waiting there to be plated up. Whilst some of that can’t be ignored for a Sunday lunch and is needed to help the kitchen…There was a slight skin on gravy where I suggest it had been sitting under the hot plate. Whilst it was tasty, it certainly wasn’t Value for Money. The beef wasn’t pink, wafer thin cuts, fatty and nothing special. Lacked seasoning. £26 felt extremely steep for something that was only £18-20 at a push. Other pubs in the area serving a far better product for similar price : The New Inn - 4.6miles away - £26 Roast Beef - Fantastic Cooking. The Swan at Southrop - 1.3 miles away - £25 Roast Beef. £24 Roast Pork . Another league compared to Victoria Inn. The Bell inn, Langford - 5.1 miles away - £26 Roast Beef, Roast Pork £23. Sensational! We won’t be returning for the pure reason it wasn’t value for money. They wanted £26 for their pork also which I felt told a tale. 1 x bread 2 x Roast Beef 2 x glasses of wine 2 x puddings £108

Cosy, atmospheric pub with beautiful views from its wonderful terrace in a gorgeous, 'off-the-beaten-track', Cotswold village. If you enjoy walking, this is a 'must'. The circular hike from Southrop is truly lovely. We visited on a lovely sunny day when they were short-staffed. Head of house, Emma, absolutely ran off her feet, performing an incredible juggling job; seating people, taking orders, serving drinks, providing food, and in-between times cleaning tables. Phew! She was amazing! As for the food...... whilst we both agreed it was tasty, we felt it was very, very overpriced: £12 for 4 shell-on prawns and £20 for a tiny chuck burger with no sides. When we returned home we had to raid our fridge to sate our hunger.

A really quirky and toasty pub! The pub has a really unique vibe, low ceilings, moody ambience, wood burning fires and old fashioned candle sticks on the table. It may be all of these things but the food was nothing short of delicious. Pleasantly surprised to find out that they served a "meatless roast" which doubled up on veggies and gravy. The Sticky Toffee Pudding really hit the spot. Our meal was really fairly priced - we visit pubs in the surrounding areas regularly and we were delighted with the bill (which included service charge too!) Worth a note that it's super dog friendly too so bring your 4 legged friend along with you.

We were recommended this pub by neighbours but admittedly it was some time since they had been. Friends were visiting and wanted to take us out for a meal so we thought this would work. The food was distinctly underwhelming, fish cakes that were mostly potato and appeared to be deep fried, thick chips were ordered and turned out to be exactly the same as thin chips or they got the order wrong but it was very average catering pack fare. This might have been OK but they couldn't find our booking when we arrived despite having checked in with them 2 days earlier that we were good to go and the person serving us did not crack a smile throughout the entire meal and almost threw down the spoons for our desserts. She looked as though it was an inconvenience that we were there! We felt embarrassed that we had recommended it and no one talked about the meal because, well, see above. It's not something you can complain about at the time because the food wasn't wrong, it just wasn't good enough and it's pretty tricky to ask somewhere to cheer up but it makes the automatic service charge feel a real stinger but as we weren't paying we didn't want make a fuss. Suffice to say we won't be back.

A nice pub in a beautiful location. On a good day it benefits by having a nice outdoor seating area where you can eat under cover . Food, rather expensive, we dropped in for a quick lunch time bite and their Fish and chips were £19.00 each. Firstly let me say the food was excellent however be aware they automatically add a 12.5% Service Charge. The Outdoor seating area was full so we sat indoors. I had paid for our drinks at the bar when we arrived so was surprised that our two fish & chips now came to £42.75 which included a £4.75 Service Charge. We had in effect paid £4.75 to have our fish and chips walked 10ft from the Kitchen to our table. Whilst I am happy to tip for good service when ordering food I believe It is normal to have it walked to the table and this should not be an extra charge. We have a high minimum wage in this country and as far as I am aware staff are not dependant on tips. Also when the bill came they had included the drinks I had already paid for at the bar when we had arrived but these were removed when I queried it. So to end this review. A lovely Pub in a beautiful spot rather taking advantage of its location perhaps. Food good but expensive but beware the Service Charge. I won't be returning.

The swordfish was ok, but the panzanella salad was ordinary at best - the bread was practically inedible it was so chewy. Firstly, lovely atmosphere, great service and on the whole, nice tasting food. However, I would say that the menu is over priced for the quality of food that was delivered. A burger, too much sauce, soggy bun, cold chips just thrown on the plate with meat that felt over cooked. No side salad, coleslaw (which normally comes with a burger in my opinion!). £31 for a steak…. Fine…. But not for the quality of steak and presentation that was given. £10 for a “charcuterie board” to start. £10 for a few slices of meat on a plate. Would have expected a bit more for this price. Onto desserts, ordered chocolate torte. Was presented with a small small slither of tort, with a splodge of crème fraiche. No drizzle of sauce, no fruit, just a small tort, a bit of crème fraiche on a freezing cold plate. Moving onto the payment, table of 8, all paid separately for what we ate, only to be told at the end there was a £50 remainder to pay which was service! And we’re told it was simply impossible to take it off as we have already started the transaction! We were planning on leaving our own tip rather than the fixed extortionate price that was set for us.

The two draught beers available were both slightly vinegary, and the £21 swordfish main course dishes were very small and disappointing. The five forkfuls of fish were delicious but insufficient, especially given that the accompanying five teeth-cracking croutons were inedible, and the 20p worth of small fried tomatoes and bagged salad leaves were also quickly consumed. Our friends who chose fish and chips, burgers and pork chops had more than starter size portions, which were much better: they at least didn’t leave quite so hungry as we did.

Un vrai plaisir que de déjeuner dans ce joli pub situé un peu au milieu de nulle part mais dans cette superbe région des Costwolds.

In the past, the food has been lovely. Our recent visit, however, was disappointing. Fish was over battered and greasy with fries rather than chips. Moules portion was small for £19 and liquor was mediocre with small piece of bread supplied. Service was slow.

Absolutely beautiful and picturesque pub on the top of a hill. The ambience is stunning and the food is absolutely to die for. We ordered the scampi and sea bass and the fish was so tender and rich in flavor. We then had sticky toffee pudding for desert which was probably the best I’ve had for a long time - the service was so quick and the staff are absolutely fantastic!

I overheard a bloke say the burger was delicious and wonderfully garnished. I only had a pint and a packet of cheese and onion as I was in a rush but good luck to the fella with the burger. Great, homely, oldy-worldy, costwoldly boozer. See you next time, cheers!

We have stayed for 2 nights and it was magical. The inn is super cozy, clean, staff was trained and excellent. We have even dined in at night, we ate classic pub food which was also excellent. Breakfast was divine. Inn is strategically placed very near the pretty cotswolds villages. Definately worth the visit. Well done

We've stayed at the Seagrave a few times, though this was the first for a few years. The room was stunning, a little occasional road noise but that's to be expected in a busy little village on a Saturday night! Dinner was brilliant, as was breakfast. The staff we spoke to were all friendly and helpful. We'll be back!
