Excellent restaurant in a very beautiful hotel. Ambience, service and food were perfect. Well-spaced tables. And no dogs allowed in the restaurant - hurray! (for info, dogs are allowed in the informal bar area but, in my recent lunch experience, it was a bit of a barkfest).

What a beautiful place to eat! We sat outside and enjoyed the lovely garden. Our starters came out quickly and then sadly our mains took about 40 mins to come out after that. Turns out they had forgotten about us.. and to be fair no one checked on us we had to Chase them. I had the fish and chips which was really tasty!!!! Would 100% have again !!! Annoyingly we had to chase for the bill, but it was alright we just paid inside instead :) I think maybe we were just a little forgotten about because we were sat outside. Everyone seemed friendly and I don’t think it was an intentional thing

We had Sunday lunch here and was really happy with the food. Very tasty sirloin beef lunch. Our drink order was wrong and we ordered a 2 meat Sunday lunch but got one meat. However we were not charged extra. A beautiful place in a stunning setting. Definitely want to book a room one day.

My wife and I called in at the Hare and Hounds for lunch today. We both ordered the fish and chips which was nice although pricey. I then asked the waiter about the Elton Mess dessert and based on his description I ordered it. Big mistake. Two strawberries cut in half around a spoonful of whipped cream and four tiny pieces of meringue placed on top and served in a bowl. The price for this was £10 Astronomical for what it was. When the waiter came back to clear the table he said I can tell you weren’t impressed. When I went to pay at the bar a service charge had been added to the bill which was not mentioned anywhere on the menu. I will not be going back.

A friend and I visited for Sunday lunch. Food was beautiful and 10/10 to all the attentive staff that were working today (26th Feb). The hotel, restaurant and ground are lovely and very clean. I will be back. Thank You

A wonderful Sunday lunch for a group of 6. Beautifully cooked food, very attentive and good humoured serving staff. Nut allergy catered for and great information available via a QR Code. Only negative would be to say please don’t take some empty plates until everyone has finished eating. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon.

Lovely hotel but very disappointing limited dinner menu. Only steak was a ribeye 18oz. A lady may like a 6/8oz fillet or a nice light risotto.

I always eat in the restaurant at least once during my stay, and it has always been a very pleasant experience. Good food and fine wine is a must for a relaxing stay in the Cotswolds.

We ate here when staying at the hotel. The food and the service were excellent with plenty of room between tables due to Covid protocols. Definitely worth visiting.

Excellent time in the garden for drinks followed by food in the restaurant. The food is great, well priced! We really enjoyed the starters and pork main. The steak could be a better cut for this type of restaurant (I.e a fillet) well priced drinks and wine! We do recommend you book for the restaurant as due to a shortage of staff we saw they sent multiple people away who hadn’t booked even though there is plenty of space and the hotel was not in full capacity.

We were staying at the Hare and Hounds other hotel in Tetbury and decided to stop of here on our long walk. The staff were all very helpful and friendly. Our lunch of cheese ploughman's were very nice with lovely fresh bread. It was nice to have a choice of real ale to wash it down and set us up for the walk back into Tetbury. Would recommend and visit if we are in the area again.

Well prepared for Covid restrictions. Helpful caring staff. Excellent food, breakfast particularly good, menus may change each day (yes they do have white wine, but may have forgotten to photocopy section !).

My husband and I visited for dinner on a week day evening. I am a vegetarian so had the white onion soup and Thai green curry and my husband had tomato salad and lemon sole. The food was nice and clearly good quality. However, I thought the vegetarian main course felt like something was missing - it consisted of rice, Thai green sauce and a slice of pak choi. However, there were no other vegetables or proteins within the sauce. My feeling was that some vegetables or something like tofu would have made it feel like a more complete dish. It just seemed a bit odd to have a bowl of rice and sauce, accompanied by only one slice of a vegetable. The atmosphere in the restaurant was pleasant and the service was extremely attentive and efficient. I think it is slightly on the pricey side, but as I said, the food is good quality so we didn’t object to paying a bit more. We would visit again.

No estoy seguro de si este es el lugar correcto para mi reseña, ya que es un complemento enorme con respecto a la comida, pero debido a que las condiciones climáticas son tan cálidas, decidimos comer afuera en los extensos terrenos. Espero que el menú que pedimos sea el mismo que el del restaurante. Sé que he comido aquí dos veces en la última quincena y las comidas estaban muy bien preparadas. Comí salmón en la primera visita y cordero en la segunda. El cordero estaba tan tierno que era difícil masticarlo, ¡no se necesitaban dientes! Mi otra mitad tenía bistec, que era igualmente genial. Vi el restaurante y se veía encantador. Llegados los meses de invierno, puedo actualizar esta revisión para agregar cómo era el ambiente interior.

Una vez más durante mi estancia en el hotel elegí una noche para comer en el restaurante. La atención al detalle del personal fue ejemplar, aunque el menú ha cambiado recientemente después de un cambio de propiedad del hotel, nada fue demasiado problema. La comida fue excelente, la selección de vinos fue excelente.

Once again I had a most enjoyable dinner in the restaurant on night 2 of my stay. Fine wine and delicious food was the order of the evening.

Stayed at the hotel for just one night on this occasion, but had a superb meal in the restaurant. Although the restaurant was busy the staff were polite and efficient.

La comida es increíble, el servicio es excelente y la experiencia fue muy agradable.La comida es también de muy alta calidad, buen tamaño de las porciones y calidad. El tipo de comida que se podía ver era fresca y el chef sabía lo que estaba haciendo.El servicio fue perfecto, y sentimos que fueron a la milla extra. Para uno de nosotros con alergias / intolerancia, habían producido un menú separado con opciones modificadas para adaptarse a todos los tipos de alergias.

The staff are very friendly and attentive. We noticed that they put couples at one end of the restaurant and larger, noisier groups at the other. We were lucky to have a table by the leaded light windows overlooking the spacious lawn and illuminated trees. The dishes were imaginative and cooked to perfection. I particularly remember the dessert "coke float" which had several intense flavours. Overall a very satisfying experience.

A most enjoyable meal at the end of a long day. A bottle of wine to savour and enjoy...............unbeatable.

We ate one evening at the Beaufort Restaurant during our 2-day stay at the Hare & Hound--the restaurant in located in the hotel. There are two dining options within the hotel--the pub-style bar or the Beaufort which is the fine dining restaurant--the menus are different. Beaufort has a very pleasing ambiance in a beautiful room--the setting is quite striking. We found the service to be adequate, but all were Eastern European and some did not fully understand the full range of service requirements. (BTW--we ate our second night in the hotel pub-bar which has a different menu--and, we found the service lacking especially in follow up (clearing plates, etc.), but the food was excellent). In the Beaufort, we found the food was a mixed review. I had the pork chop which was perfectly prepared and very tasty. My wife had a steak which was way overdone in preparation and not very good. The desserts were excellent. All in all, not sure that I would go back given other options in town, but certainly very convenient if you are staying in the hotel and do not want to go out, and they certainly have the capability to provide high-quality food.

Evening meal was OK. Not to much choice but what we had was nice enough.Not as good as breakfast. However from our 3 nights there , we wish we had eaten there all 3 nights as the other 2 were disasters.

We ate in the restaurant whilst staying at the hotel. The breakfasts had a good selection and quality of the food and service was excellent. Our evening meal was also excellent as was the wine and service.

Booked Sunday lunch at this restaurant weeks ago, having never managed to book st short notice. Lovely food, fab setting, excellent, friendly unobtrusive service - we shall be back.

An extremely enjoyable Dinner, delightful beef carpaccio starter, a little too much Parmesan but that’s just a minor point. Very well cooked trout, with beautiful pickled cucumber. Didn’t like the sautéed gnocchi, however the overall meal was of a very good standard and I would recommend highly

The meal was well cooked and presented. There were only a few diners in the restaurant when we dined and in such a big room it lacked atmosphere. The staff were a bit aloof and service too formal for such a relaxed hotel. Over priced for what it was.

Drinks are served beforehand in the lounge bar area with appetising canapés so you can peruse the menu in comfort. Service throughout the evening was very smooth and well-paced.

Mi familia y yo disfrutamos de una comida de noche en el Beaufort restaurante durante nuestra estancia en el Hare & Hounds Hotel. Elegí la calle veneras. Jacques para empezar, el venado para platos principales y un postre de chocolate, que eran excelentes! El restaurante tiene un ambiente romántico y sería ideal para parejas.

Vinimos aquí para celebrar mi cumpleaños con mi novio. Era muy ansiosos de venir aquí como había oído la comida era increíble, y no me decepcionó! Precioso saludo al frente, nos llevaron a una zona de descanso donde nuestro menú canapés y explicó - que habíamos pedido el menú degustación antes de llegar y había hecho una solicitud especial para vegetarianos y sin setas. No nos hicieron sentir como si este fuera cualquier privación como pueda experimentar en otros restaurantes, se veía los camareros eran ganas de ver una comida diferente y preguntar cómo estábamos disfrutando! Fue agradable que el cerdo de Guinea! Noche perfecta, perfecta comida, y también un servicio perfecto! Se lo recomendaría a cualquiera, especialmente a aquellos que se alojen en el hotel.

Stayed at hotel and had dinner in the restaurant.From time our order was taken and the waiter took particular care with our friend who has intolerance re certain foods when she was ordering.We were then served little titbits whilst sitting in lounge. All nice and different.We all chose different starters and the presentation and quality of food was excellent.We were then served an cleanser which had different flavours and did the trick.Main courses were also very good, three of us had lamb chops. Again beautifully presented.Finally dessert all different ones and presentation again could not be faulted.Service was excellent.Would highly recommend to eat here.

For a special occasion I would highly recommend the tasting menus - I had the vegetarian option and my partner had the standard tasting menu both with the accompanying wine flight. The food was fantastic, and very good sized portions. The wines were excellent and the staff who served us were knowledgeable and very pleasant and friendly without being suffocating. My only criticism would be that the vege menu was quite "cheese-heavy" but once they found out I ate fish they were happy to swap one of the courses if I had wanted to.

The food was very good, but the overall experience was disappointing, mainly because of some weird conditions.Firstly, we arrived at 1.00pm for Sunday lunch, exactly as we had booked, and were told we could not go to our table until the chefs were ready for us. Instead we were told that we would first have to first sit in the bar area outside the actual restaurant and peruse the menu. We eventually had to ask to be allowed to go to our table. Secondly, I know that most diners want attentive service, but it needs to not be overintrusive, and we could not get enough time alone to actually enjoy our meal. We kept being asked over and over again if we were enjoying our meal and our waitress would replenish our wine and water glasses after each sip ... it was just too much attention.Thirdly, at the end of our meal, we were told that our coffee was waiting for us back out in the bar area, rather than at the table. Most restaurants would have given the diners the choice.Fourthly, our main courses were very good but, after we had nearly finished them, we were presented with a bowl of vegetables in cheese sauce. They were very good but the timing was terrible.Lastly, , our bill came at the same time as our coffee (rather than after we had finished or when we actually asked for it), and then when I tried to pay with a credit card the young waiter said he would need to speak to his manager about whether they accepted credit cards ... strange in a hotel. After about 10 minutes the manager arrived with the cc machine and took our payment.The impression we had was that the staff who served us, despite being very pleasant and trying hard, were either very new, or not very well trained.All in all, good food but a very strange dining experience.

The set price lunch was excellent. I had poached salmon with new potatoes, asparagus, salad & hollandaise sauce, while some of our party had grilled fried hake with lemon butter sauce & the house salad. We finished with English strawberry mousse with Champagne strawberry granite. We took coffee in the library where we remained for chatting for four hours undisturbed apart from the arrival of our afternoon tea. The staff were really accommodating & the only minor disadvantage is that you can't book a table in the bar; so get there early to secure a table. Highly recommended.

My wife and I decided this Christmas to eat out, we choose the Hare and Hounds as we have had meals there previously.I can only say the main meal was far from perfect, the turkey I would say had been steamed cooked as there was not taste to it at all, the roast potatoes were far from roasted, the 3 very small parsnips were again tasteless, overall the meal was very poor.For value for money it was the very poor.

We were a party of 5 for lunch, 4 of us ordered the Hare pie. What came was not hare pie, that rich succulent pie made with hot water pastry, pulled to form a pork pie type crust filled with seasonal game. What we go was a game casserole with a waste of time flaky lid. It was tasty but misrepresented. Check out what game pie is, it wasn't what we got.The staff were friendly and attantive. Looking forward to my next visiy.

High quality ingredients treated with skilful treatment by the chefs created very enjoyable meals. All served by polite, efficient and knowledgeable staff.

We had a very enjoyable meal for one night but I don't think it's a restaurant you'd want to come to every night, especially at £39 for three courses. If you like Steak, pie or chips or even soup you will be disappointed. If you like small portions, displayed beautifully you'll be fine.

Food average - service, surly and dismissive.My husband was left waiting at the bar whilst his lunch went cold, whilst 2 staff watched, disinterested in serving him the drinks to accompany our lunch, or his lunch going cold whilst he waited.We will not return

Had a three course meal while staying at the Hare and Hounds hotel and it was superb. Started off with complimentary nibbles whilst perusing the menu all explained in detail to us. For starters I had ballotine of quail. For mains we had slow cooked beef and pan seared stone bass. Deserts were carrot cake (not the normal) and cheesecake. In between we had complimentary muse bouche and rice pudding fritter all absolutely delicious. Great dining experience. Would definitely return and recommend. Tip: champagne was £19.95 a bottle if ordered between 5-7pm bargain!

We booked a meal for 4 in the Beaufort Restaurant, a selection of nibbles we served whilst we looked at the menu, (Savory popcorn and cheese straws), the food and service were very good, with a couple of tasters sent by the chef for guests to try and comment on, nice touch. The price was in keeping with this type of establishment, not cheap or excessively overpriced.

I should get my husband to review this really as he is the foodie!We had dinner here on the second night of our stay at the Hare and Hounds. We did the taster menu with wine flight and it was £80pp.The food was great and our waiter was fantastic. He talked through each dish and answered all of our questions. I loved the wines too.It was fairly good value for what you got in comparison with the standard menu. As well as the courses you get excellent bread with truffle butter and fantastic petit fours and all of the trimmings really.Prepare to leave feeling stuffed!

The Beaufort Restaurant is in a beautiful setting in a luxurious but relaxed country hotel. The staff were fantastically helpful and courteous and the food was delicious - the game was particularly memorable. The food is expensive though - this place is a special treat type of place!

Great ambience, good food and lovely staff. I loved the fact they they still use lovely, white, laundered tablecloths and serviettes. Everything was beautifully laid out and the service was first class.Good menu choice.

We dined here as part of a package that came with the hotel in which this restaurant is situated. The restaurant was well run by the "Maîtresse d'hotel" and the head waiter/sommelier Li Zhao. All the waiters appeared to be from Poland or Italy, but were unwaveringly polite and charming. They were a little inexperienced but that didn't detract from their evident willingness to make your evening pleasurable.We were served complimentary 'amuse-bouches' with our apéritif in the lounge and then again before every course. We had a three course meal as part of the Autumn Colours package of the hotel but the menu prices looked good value for this standard in the UK. The crab based starter was imaginative but the wasabi sorbet could have done with more than just the soupçon of wasabi!All our other courses were very well cooked indeed (beef and venison) and with excellent presentation. The wine list contained many New World wines I did not know, but the French and Italian varieties were a good spread of types and for a UK restaurant, reasonable value. Our Côtes du Rhone, La Rabassière, was excellent.We hope to come back; no question.

Stopped here yesterday 10/11/13 hoping to get some lunch but missed there surving times, they only served snacks and sandwiches,which is good unless you are coeliac then they dont have anything you can eat!I dont think the staff smiled once in the whole time we where there, next time ill keep driving past!! Such a shame as i visited this pub many years ago and it was a perfect country pub, very unlike now!!!

The food we had here was amazing. Very well presented, very very tasty and the service was excellent. Would love to return to this restaurant.

The food was imaginative and despite the extra course of amuse bouche, between course sorbet and pre desert was not over powering even to my female appetite.It would have had top marks if we had not noticed that 10 % added to our bill as service charge and then a optional 10% on top of that which could easily have been added if you were not cute enough to spot it. Our table was very close to our neighbours who did nothing but complain all night which was a shame as it intruded into our enjoyment of a lovely meal and evening.

Being a vege lover. I adore this place, the have a great selction of veg food for people like me. The Mille Feuille with thyme and parmesan filo tuille with artichoke puree, spinach & garlic medley, shallots, potatoes and herb oil is my favorite. Its a three course meal and will run you about forty bucks but it was worth it all.

I went along to Jack Hare's recently with my partner and friend and our twin toddlers. This was after a game of golf.I had been to the venue before but only for a drink. Jack Hare's is really beautiful.However, once we had taken our seat the experience went down hill. The service was frosty at best, the waitress looked at my children as if they were something nasty under her shoe. The food when it came was poor and on that alone I would never return. The rest of my party agreed and found the relish on the burger unacceptable.The rudeness of our waitress was just a particularly bitter cherry on a rather disappointing cake. I didn't stay to complain as I couldn't wait to leave.Such a shame as it is a beautiful place.

We stayed at the H&H and had 3 course dinner included. However, we were not expecting the meal we got at all.It is a formal restaurant so we decided to dress smart for the evening. Other customers were equally well dressed but, being a hotel, jeans and a hoody were also present!The experience, service and food were fantastic. We've had the pleasure of eating all over the world and this was one of our favourite meals. It had that lovely pre-dinner lounge for a nice pre-dinner drink and they took your food order. I love this old-fashionedness! We were served hors d'oeuvres here.At arrival to the table we had an amuse bouche (pea soup) before possible the best starter i've had - pigeon stuffed with fois gras and wrapped in ham with tarragon beans. This followed by a sorbet, mains (Beef was well worth the supplement), a pre-dessert, dessert and coffees with mille feuille.Granted the company we were in contributed to the evening but we were really impressed by this restuarant (and hotel) and cannot wait to return!

A little too formal for our own liking, but the staff were excellent at making it a pleasant meal. We took advantage of paying for our meal as part of our stay package.

I really wanted to enjoy this experience. We love indulging in a tasting menu with wine flight.However...the food at times was below average...just not really refined enough for the price you are paying. The wine flight also was not well presented. Many of the wines just did not match well, they missed one wine out until we asked...at other times the wine came first and then at other times after the course was served meaning your food at times was going cold. It also was not described very welll...I would have gotten more out of reading the bottle. Perhaps if you are having meat courses (ours was vegetarian) the experience would have been better. However for us and for the price it was distinctly underwhelming and below average in terms of what else is out there. We had planned to eat two nights in a row but cancelled the second night on the basis of the first.Service was nice I would say but certainly could have been more polished.

Excellent food and service. Highly recommend. The chef and his team accommodated my very restrictive dietary requirements and made our dining experience a delightful one.

We ate there all 3 nights we stayed at the H&H hotel. The food is very good, and it’s lovely to get the Amuse Bouche, the palette cleanser, and a small desert before main desert compliments of the chef. Attentive and friendly service. A nice selection of wine as well. Only let down was that there was no change in the menu – which if one eats there each evening becomes a bit monotonous. It would have been nice to a have a daily special. But definitely worse a visit or two!

Attended as staying at the hotel for our 25th wedding anniversary, and decided to eat at the Beaufort restaurant. If you are expecting a large portion of food, think again. This aims at a more specialized and up market approach to dining. Very small portions all beautifally presented. Excellent staff who were very attentive without being too over bearing. Also the little touches were very thoughtful with Chef doing a plate with happy anniversary in chocolate and a few delicacies, was a lovely touch

On arrival expect to be seated in comfortable leather lounges for a pre-dinner drink and to peruse the menu. Our order was taken from here and shortly afterwards, we were shown to our table. Table presentation was very good with linen table cloths and serviettes. The wine we had ordered was on the table. Shortly afterwards our entree arrived, nicely presented. We thought the tuna nicoise was a little small but all the ingredients were superb. For mains I had sea trout and this time the serve was bigger than I expected and was some of the best fish I have eaten in a restaurant. My partner had a vegetarian option and was very pleased with the presentation and the taste. We shared a cheese plate with some very interesting cheeses and skipped dessert (so the serves couldn't have been too small!). Our evening meal was included as part of a package for touring in the local area. Looking forward to dining here again!

I don't normally bother reviewing restaurants as we eat out a lot, so only the best or worst would get a mention...this comes in the BEST group, lots of small courses, well cooked, lovely taste, each course didn't look big but we were soon very full. Good wine list, good service, a very nice meal = a perfect evening.. thank you
