The best restaurants in Bath and North East Somerset South West

We recently chose to hold our small wedding reception at the Hollybush and we could not be more thrilled with our experience. We were so well looked after from the first enquiry to the last few drinks of the evening. The food was superb, and the service was even better. The whole party were treated like family, it was so well organised and they really took away any stress for us, helping with whatever they could. One of the favours for a guest got misplaced (my error), and they replaced it with a mini bottle of prosecco and even made a name tag, all without calling me - they just did it - I really appreciated that. Then to top it all off they gifted us with a gift card for future use, after we'd ran them all ragged all day! It was so kind of Russ and the team. We had a fantastic time at our company's end of summer party! Neve was great at communicating and adapting to our needs. The food was lovely, big variety and catered for a range of dietary requirements. The garden is beautiful and we caught the last of the summer sun! Perfect for large groups. Thanks for having us!

We have come to the Charlcombe Inn for a number of years. We love the food and staff are very friendly. Portion sizes are excellent and there's always a great menu with tasty food. One of our favourite pubs!

Made a reservation for 6.15 we arrived at 6.05 and then walked out at 6.35 as the owner was extremely rude and the service was diobolical. We ordered drinks as soon as we arrived and didn’t receive them also we felt externally unwelcome.

A very happy coeliac. It’s so hard for us to find places to eat on the go. I visit Bath regularly and only just found this place! Despite having a very small prep area, they have a dedicated space for preparing gluten free items. Staff totally get the importance of avoiding cross contamination. Had smoked salmon and cream cheese in very nice gluten free toasted bread (almost as good as a bagel, although of course a GF bagel would be the icing on the cake!) I’ll be back and will recommend you on gluten free forums. Thanks guys!

I had booked the wrong wheatsheaf I( relised as I arrived) they couldn't of been any better and more helpfull to fit us in. The service by the gentleman behind the bar was great. The food was incredible the chef even took time out to come and ask us about the sauce and how we would like it even after we finished he came out to make sure we were happy with our meals. Honestly can not recommend this place enough! We had the burgers and the prok chops with the chips with a twist and it was bloody lovely!!! Will be visiting again but will make sure I book the right place this time 🤣😊

Food was good, service terrible. Our primary server couldn’t answer questions. She left to get answers, took ages to reappear and didn’t have the info. Getting food took more than an hour. $350 for 4 people (only two drinkers), we expect better.

Our curries both had about 3 pieces of chicken in! Daylight robbery! If I wanted a vegetarian meal I’d have asked for one!

Such good quality burgers that I can rely on every time I visit Sometimes I have come over to Bath from Bristol just to indulge in a quality burgers from Schwartz

Fantastic food. Authentic kebabs. The gyros was delicious. One not to be missed when in Bath. Quick and friendly service.

The worst Sunday roast I’ve ever had. After a 40 minute wait for our food to arrive and nobody came to explain why the wait. I was beginning to think it’s going to be extra special . How wrong was I Plain pan fried chicken breast , huge Yorkshire pudding full of baking powder. The roast beef was not roasted it was a steamed beef, I didn’t eat it as it was quite slimy 🤮 The roast potatoes were frozen and deep fried as well as tasting of garlic from something else that had been cooked in the same fryer. The cauliflower cheese was frozen veg and the cheese sauce was not cooked as it was watery and very grainy texture. The temperature of the food was below the safe holding temperature (above 63 degrees) The waitress was not experienced enough to let her customers know they were having a problem in the kitchen she just stayed out of the way. I certainly would not recommend the restaurant, the only good thing is the view.

Great food, very welcoming staff, loved our dinner there. Lots of choice and the specials menu was great too. I’m gluten intolerant and there was plenty of options for me to choose from, it makes a change as usually I’m limited to one or two options when I eat out. The dessert menu looked great too but the mains were so big we didn’t have room! Between the three of us we had steak and ale pie, BBQ ranch chicken and cod and chips, all were very tasty. Well recommended.

Popped in with my 7yr old son for a quick drink before going trickle or treating on halloween. My son asked me if he could play pool and immediately the landlady snapped at him,he touched a halloween decorating and she snapped at him.... Then she swore at my son and his friend and told me to control them because I pool chalk was knocked down a pocket. I was told to leave as I confronted her about swearing at my son.. Horrid woman. Unfriendly,miserable and socially awkward landlady, avoid.....

The Bear offers a great atmosphere for couples, families and friends. The staff are friendly and helpful and the food is excellent, especially the Sunday roast (vegan option is one of the best I’ve had in Bath). It shows loads of different sport, without the vibe of some other sporting pubs, and Ali is always happy to switch the TV to the rugby (even if it is to watch Bristol Bears!). We moved locally in the spring and this is a great local pub!

Be prepared for: Prices 20-30% higher than shown on menu! To pay £7 for pint of Coke Zero! Pay for any extra condiments! To be left waiting while they prioritise and deal with takeaways! Curries that taste like casseroles/stews with frozen vegetables & partially cooked naan! A LOT of BS from the manager/owner! No wonder this place is always empty! NEVER again!!
