We stumbled upon this establishment when looking for our restaurant. Like most tourists when lost you pull over in a charming pub and hope to log onto their Internet to find your directions. They did not have WiFi but had delicious beer and such friendly patrons that one gentleman who was local and had WiFi on his phone helped us find our way to our next destination. At first I thought it was like a club but then felt very welcomed. An enchanted little pub that will allow you to stop and appreciate the local charm.

My favourite experience in England, was sitting here and talking to the keeper, having a pint of traditional ale in a very traditional pub. It invoked historical nostalgia. A must place for a quick or long pint.

Genuinely one of my favourite pubs in Bath! The staff are always friendly and willing to have a good conversation with you, a quality shared by the regulars. The beer/cider on tap is switched out every month, which gives me something new and refreshing to try upon every visit. The space is cosy and intimate, with a real traditional atmosphere. The two sitting areas feel very lived in. I even like that there is no cell signal or Wi-Fi! It forces everyone to put there phones away, leave the world for a little while and just enjoy a great ale among great company!

Popped into the old green tree on a Friday to check they were still not offering food, which they aren’t but the barman and locals very friendly and was recommended to go to the salamander for lunch. Great recommendation so look for that on another review. We came back for a drink afterwards and the staff and beer were as excellent as I remember from 30 years ago. No need for WiFi or TV the old green tree provides its own ambience and entertainment. Only go if you want great conversation, good beer and a wonderful friendly atmosphere 👍👍😄

Having always loved The Green Tree (going back over 30 years) we visited on Good Friday for lunch to find that they are no longer doing food. Apparently, since Covid, they have been unable to find a chef (according to the bar man). Be advised that this now seems to be a drinks only pub - still lovely and a real find but not if you want to eat!

This is a quirky hidden jem serving decent ale, local spirits and basic pub food. We had the pulled pork and stuffing rolls. It is a little pricy but so are most things in Bath. It provided good company and if you like traditional pubs then don't miss it.

The 2024 CAMRA Bath and Borders Pub of The Year! And rightly so, a small independent pub in the centre of Bath. Wide range of quality Ales and fine wines. Gets busy on rugby match day, but always have a great atmosphere:) Tim the landlord is a lovely guy and makes people very comfortable

Congratulations to the most obnoxious barman in Bath. If you’re thinking of taking a small child then forget it. “It’s getting too late to have kids in” at 5.45 on a Saturday “the buggy thing will be in the way “. Still took our money though and tolerated our presence, just. The beer wasn’t really worth the hassle. Much nicer and more welcoming places to spend an hour nearby.

1920/30s? Charming oak panelled pub with three cosy rooms. Cask beer and cider on hand pumps plus a keg offering. Green Tree Ales is brewed for the house, decent malt base supporting a good hoppy profile, shame about the pouring but I think headless beer is a thing here? Pitchfork Ales Golden Ale came across a little sour and uninspiring but then I'm a fussy tyke used to drinking Timothy Taylors in peak condition in the town where it's brewed. That's the thing about travel, it makes you appreciate what you have on your doorstep.

Unusual find - a characterful small pub only serving drinks currently, so no waiting for a pint while someone draws smiley faces in coffee foam. Excellent ciders & beers on draught & an unusually good selection of whiskies for southern England. Bit pricey, but it's Bath & the wood panelled rooms are really relaxing - a bit of an anachronism when so much is modernised to the point of extinction.

I wanted my daughter to have her first beer ever in Bath, Somerset, during our last Daddy-Daughter trip before she heads to college. The experience could not have been better. Alan, the bartender, made sure she had an amazing experience and got to have a proper cask ale. Loved this place the first time we went but not the last time. We rang specifically to ask if dogs could come in and they said yes. Arrived at about 18:45 on a Saturday and as we sat in the corner at a free table, we were told that our dog wasn’t allowed because it was “too busy”. Our dog being a very quiet, sleepy whippet. Told the guy behind the bar that they had earlier said yes and he grunted to say he only worked there! Rules should be consistent and all staff should know them. We wouldn’t have minded if it was a straight no. All the people in the pub said it was mean and gave suggestions of The Raven. We were all welcomed there!

I first used this lovely little gem of a pub in 1963 at the age of 20 years and now use it every time we go into Bath at the age of 80 years. The only thing that’s changed is the Barman and the prices, everything else remains the same. The regulars are all people of a certain age with style. A real gem that is best kept a secret. It’s wonderful little haven away from the wild world of tourists and students.

Yesterday was the first time I've been back in since 1969 and it was like stepping into a time capsule... man who welcomed me said that about the only things that had changed were some upholstery and a bit of technology behind the bar! Maybe it was just ‘one of those days’ Disappointing, although I accept that not every establishment serves Earl Grey tea. However, I’m astonished that this pub didn’t serve decaffeinated coffee either. Thankfully (?) water was available. The meal: I was hungry so I ate the cardboard masquerading as a toastie. I have no idea who in my group complained on my behalf which resulted in me being offered a refund. As I’d eaten it, I declined. It seems Greene King are going through difficult times.
