We booked Henry’s to celebrate the night after our wedding as we’d seen so many good reviews and the menu looked lovely. Unfortunately we didn’t have the experience we expected and cannot recommend. We both had the set menu which was all fine. Then the main course of beef cheek came, mine was lovely and cooked well. However my husband’s was inedible and we literally couldn’t cut through the meat it was so tough. We showed the waiter and he completely agreed and took the plate back to the kitchen. Then came back a few minutes later, with the same plate. He told us the chef insists this is how it should be served and refused to do anything…We were shocked!!! The waiter was so embarrassed and agreed that the food wasn’t right, but the chef wouldn’t take it back so there was nothing he could do! The waiter handed it as well as he could and took our wine off our bill to compensate us, but I was shocked that the kitchen staff had put him in that position rather than the chef come out and talk to us himself, when the meat clearly wasn’t right (I had the same meal and my meat was cooked fine…..). My husbands meal was sent back untouched and we shared mine… As we had the set menu, we had a few course to go still and we just wanted to leave…. It put a dampner on whole the evening which was meant to be a special dinner, and created such an awkward atmosphere. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Henry’s is an absolute must for foodies visiting Bath. We enjoyed every dish, from the starters to dessert. The atmosphere is cozy, and the staff is both friendly and professional. We particularly loved the duck, which was cooked to perfection. The wine pairing also complemented the dishes wonderfully. It’s a place we’ll definitely recommend to friends and family. Thank you for a memorable dining experience—we’ll be back the next time we’re in town!

During our recent trip to Bath, we dined at Henry’s and were blown away by the quality. The food was exquisite—full of flavor, and each dish had a wonderful presentation. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, ensuring that we had a great time. By far, the best meal we had during our stay!

Our evening at Henry’s was absolutely perfect from start to finish. The restaurant has a cozy, intimate atmosphere that’s perfect for a romantic dinner. The menu was filled with creative dishes that showcased the chef’s talent. I had the lamb, and my partner had the duck—both were cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The dessert was the perfect end to the meal—rich and decadent without being overly sweet. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. The wine list was impressive, with a great selection to complement the dishes. We left feeling completely satisfied and can’t wait to return for another memorable dining experience.

I found out about Henry's in the Michelin guide. I wasn't disappointed in the food, ambience and service. We chose the Land and Sea 5 course tasting menu, and our wine choice was guided by our knowledgeable and friendly server. We are still talking about the place a few days after, and would definitely recommend for a special occasion. The place felt very serene, beautiful art on the walls and tasteful tableware. Some unique flavour combinations which resonated with our wish to eat as local as possible. Well done to Henry and the team.

We booked Henry’s after searching online in advance of a weekend away in bath to celebrate our wedding anniversary- and for a well deserved child free night! It was truly amazing from start to finish. We both ate the 7 course farm & sea menu, each dish was beautifully presented and the taste of each was something I won’t forget. The pictures don’t it justice as my photography skills are poor. Service was friendly, and super knowledgeable. Recommend a fantastic bottle of wine and allowed us to try a small glass of a few we liked the look of before we made our choice. We also added the optional cheese board, mainly as we didn’t want the experience to end. Highly recommend this place, and kudos to all for making it such a brilliant experience. Can’t wait to come back!

Definitely a fine dining place to try if you want something delicious. Each meal was curated for the season. They were balanced in flavour and the servers were educated on wine pairings for each dish. The place is small so booking is required but it had a beautiful atmosphere and the services was wonderful. It is pricy but you get what you pay for and you are paying for wonderful food in the centre of Bath.

We had the 7 course tasting menu, I had the farm & sea then my partner had the land option which we shared the lot. Thank God we did as it would have been an incredible shame to miss out on some of the dishes! Every single bite was truly incredible, so many levels of flavour and such perfect combinations, truly hats off to the chef. The wine pairing was such a highlight as well, some very unique wines that fitted perfectly with the dishes but were also devine on their own. The service completed the evening, it was so attentive but not at all in your face, they were both very knowledgeable on the dishes and the wines. They also added a really homely, welcoming vibe which was so refreshing. Far too many places doing this level of food have a element of snobbery which can be off putting but not these two, they made us feel so welcomed and created such a warm environ. Without a doubt would visit again and will be recommending to anyone and everyone!

Lovely little independent restaurant tucked away in one of Bath's best areas on Saville row. Ate here solo on a Thursday night, arrival very friendly and relaxed from two young ladies with big beaming smiles, invited to pick where i sat, so i naturally picked the only table with a wobbly leg, so quickly moved myself to a table on the banquette seating, much better. The restaurant is simply, and stylishly furnished and has a stripped back, relaxed and natural feel to it with the table settings, lighting and colour scheme all really well thought through, it used to be Casanis, a great little French style bistro, i ate there and cant remember how much it's changed, but i don't think it's massively different. Was a choice of a five course or seven course menu priced at £75 or £90, i went for the five, food in general was very good, nicely cooked and presented, felt a couple of dishes were a bit light on depth of flavour, but a couple of real standout dishes too, the Mussel starter and Truffle royale were beautiful, light, fresh and vibrant dishes, the Lamb main was perhaps a weak point, flavour wise felt confused, wasn't really sure what the main garnish flavour was, but overall the food, and service were very good. Henry's is a great little restaurant that stands out in a city that has slowly but surely lost a lot of it's independent scene, it's friendly, relaxed, simple in format and has a great location, wine list is just the right size, and the friendly nature of the staff shone through. Only thing i really didn't like was the Beetroot and horseradish butter, more a mousse than a butter, and whats wrong with good salted butter anyway, bit of a pet hate of mine, but the bread itself was very good. Thanks for a great meal.

We sat upstairs, which was really cozy and had a nice atmosphere without being crowded. We had the seven course tasting menu and two of us had the wine pairing. The sommelier was phenomenal, so friendly and passionate about the wines, which were all great choices to go with the meal. This is, in my opinion, the best modern British restaurant in Bath. The food was great quality, as well as flavours, presentation, use of ingredients and quality of ingredients. Service and atmosphere was also great. Prices are incredible! I went for lunch and a two course meal was £26 per person, while it was £40 at the one-michelin-star Olive Tree restaurant... and the difference in food/service/atmosphere is not much.

We visited this restaurant on the weekend, after I got confirmed. It was a great experience, the food was extraordinary and the service was nice and helpful. The ambiente was a bit unorthodox for the kind of food, because it wasn't designed to make you expect this kind of Menu. However, the location made it stick out, because it is located just a few streets from the circus and the surrounding area has a Italian touch. Overall, I can wholeheartedly recommend the Restaurant.

We are very used to tasting menus featuring smaller versions of full plates which individually seem small but always seem to magically build up to make you feel full. Sadly, this was not the case at Henry's where we left somewhat hungry. Anticipation was high as this was well recommended and the 5 course farm and sea menu seemed interesting, featuring crab, chicken raviolo and venison. As expected portions were small but generally tasty however, the portion size of the venison was tiny and left us wondering whether we had eaten main course. The ambience of the restaurant is dark and it is clearly very popular - perhaps everyone else was luckier with their portion size!

The food was intriguing and quite tasty. I can admit that it took us on a journey exploring loads of local flavours, which was delightful. We loved it. The portions however were too small. If it was not for the additional bread requested, I would have left hungry. The decor is quaint and not in keeping with a smart, high-end restaurant to which the food aspires. While I cannot really fault the food, which was a lovely succession of tasty morsels or the service, which even included a birthday card, I must say that the atmosphere was lacking. This was due to the fact that we were the only diners. It did not help that when we had finished and paid the not inconsiderable bill, we saw the chefs leaving through the restaurant. I felt we'd put them out and that they couldn't wait until we'd left to exit.

AVOID. We had dinner at Henry's after booking it for our trip down to Bath. We are no strangers to fine dining and enjoy going for luxury meals when we get a break from the kids. Henry's looked great and had great reviews, having tried the olive tree (excellent) and other high end restaurants in bath before. The restaurant is a little bare bones in terms of decor but we don't tend to mind as that appears to be the fashion these days. However the table rocked so it felt like we were eating on a bucking bronco. We went for the 5 course tasting menu at £75 pp. Not the most expensive but still at around £200 for dinner it's not a cheap meal. Wow. Were we disappointed. The food although tasty was ridiculously small. While we understand tasting menus are smaller portions and more dishes having done many before, this was pushing it. My partner kept saying are we being pranked? The courses : Spoonful of crab One raviolo Some cheese whip A shaving of venison A nespresso pod size of chocolate fondant The straw that broke the camels back was the tiny slither of venison offered up as the final savoury dish. Rudolph could satisfy this restaurant for a year! When we raised this with the waiting staff they replied with 'oh we get that all the time' and 'perhaps you should have had the 7 course instead'. Eventually the manager, after the staff established we weren't common folk (not accustomed to the finer things or after some chicken nuggets or a Toby carvery although either would have been more satisfying) decided to grace us with £18 off our meal. All in all, given how hard people work for their money I would not recommend wasting it here.

Not rushed out but with some real quality plates of food. Some creative flavours and styles (crab first course was lovely and the venison was perfect but would of loved the next size up. That said my friends and I thought we would give it another chance. I’m sorry to say that nothing has changed! Although the waitress was lovely other members of staff were extremely rude . We told to keep quiet twice over the course of the night and this was totally unjustified. I’m afraid this restaurant could learn alot from many restaurants in Bath . We visited Henry’s for a special occasion but were sadly underwhelmed by the experience. The whole experience was slightly off kilter. From the start where we had to wait a while to be offered a drink, to service that was friendly but not exceptional and as others have said, missed that sort of engagement you have at a really good restaurant. Whilst some of the dishes and accompanying wines were good, many were not really exceptional, with at least one course not enjoyable. The cheek was the stand out, delicious. We found the loud music slightly incongruous to the surroundings and food. Also agree with others that the loo facilities were not really in keeping with the high end nature of the cost. Given this was a special occasion and cost nearly £400, we had expected something really special but sadly that wasn’t our experience. Was it bad? No. Was it OK? Yes. But was it’s worth the cost, am afraid we didn’t feel so. Perhaps if it was an a la carte menu and we’d had the ravioli to start and cheek for main, we would have a much more positive view but at the price point, we were looking for something much more.

This was our second visit to this restaurant and it has impressed us on both occasions. The food is cooked with real precision, and on this second occasion - a wine tasting held in the upstairs dining room, the chef explained the dishes and their preparation in great detail. This restaurant is a proper grown-up dining experience and reminds me of those wonderful independent bistros that used to pop up in the city in the late 1980s. If you’re in Bath and trying to avoid the dreary chains of Asian- fusion restaurants in the centre, this is a real gem.

Have eaten in many 'fine dining', tasting menu, type restaurants. This one the food is good, bib gourmand standard not Michelin starred. But what struck me was the lack of fripperies, usually one gets an amuse bouche pre 1st course, here there was 2 slices of bread and garlic & chive butter, usually part way through there is palate cleanser and the possibly an extra dessert - none of these freebie's exist at Henry's. Considering you are paying £90.00 per head, then drinks, then 12.5% service it just came over as a tad mean.

The place is a casual setting. Two floors of dining. The place looks like it was once a dwelling turned restaurant. Rustic wooden tables and chairs and wood floors with minimal art on the walls. A selection of a 5 or 7 course tasting menu with an option of a cheese course (12 pound suppliment) before the dessert. There is a wine pairing option, but we opted for a bottle of our selection. The service is welcoming but haphazard. Missing silverware mostly. The biggest mistake was when we were given the cheese course after our 4th course (the server had mistaken the pigeon for the sirloin) . This mistake made the next course 26 minutes after the previous one. As my husband pointed out, this mistake isn't just the fault of the server, but kitchen as well. This was just one of the issues. The food. Let me begin by saying the first 3 courses were absolutely fabulous. The crispy fish skin and the asian slaw in the crab course worked very well. The lamb raviolo was exceptional (a very mediterrian feel with the yogurt). The compte was a take of cheese and crackers and delightful. Thats about where it ends. The flavors for the pigeon, monk fish and sirloin could have been more adventurous. All 3 dishes lacked luster. Although there were singular components on the dish that were good, as a whole it didn't really work and it was quite boring and fairly plain in flavor. Not to mention that that the sirloin was over cooked verging on a medium well. The monk fish was also over and tough. Although, my husband thought his piece was well cooked. Not to mention, there was blood on my plate running from the pigeon. My husband tells me that pigeon is usually served medium rare. We passed on the cheese course, and there was a brief shining light in the end with the dessert. But it couldn't make up for the faults of the pigeon, monkfish and sirloin. Not worth the price or the automatically added 12.5% gratuity. There are plenty of great restaurants in Bath. Henry's is not worth a return trip for the price.

Lovely evening - service, wine and food all excellent. We were the last seating, 8:30, and the restaurant did get a little quiet quickly. Nice point of the waiter moving us to a better table , unprompted, as it became free not long after we sat down. We had the 7 course taster - some dishes were excellent (ravioli, monkfish, duck,) others a little underwhelming (salmon, bavette, purple potato ) but lovely overall. Also had a lovely Romanian red wine. I was a little shocked at having to pay £40pp deposit beforehand, which also put me off booking, but understand it’s probably required nowadays. Food stunning, that is what drew us and we were not disappointed, relaxed knowledgable staff, the food spoke for itself! Stunning. The dip in star is sad to say the the loo! I understand compromise comes because the location is also top 10, but improvements would ensure a return.

We had a special evening at Henrys when we visited this week. We opted for the 7 course menu - I had the 'Farm and Sea' menu, while my wife opted for the 'Land' menu. The food was amazing, our favourites were the ravioli and gnocchi. Being able to choose from the two different menus meant we could sample and share different dishes, which added to our evening. The atmosphere in the dining room was perfect - formal yet relaxed and comfortable, with nice music. The service was quite incredible. The front of house member of staff was on her own yet managed to serve us with an attentive yet relaxed style, described all the dishes and made us feel really at home. We did not feel under pressure to hurry through our choices, yet nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be back, and would make a special trip to Bath just to dine here. Thanks for a wonderful evening.

Went for dinner at this lovely cosy restaurant. We chose to sit outside in the courtyard as it was a lovely evening. The service was exceptional from start to finish. Jamie and other staff members made our evening an enjoyable one. Thank you Jamie for selecting our wines to complement each of our dishes. We opted for the seven course taster menu. Every dish looked and taste excellent. Overall an excellent dining experience. Can't wait for our next visit.

Wow 🤩 Food, service, ambience was outstanding. Recommended by ‘foodie’ friends, it exceeded expectations. Quite possibly the best food we’ve ever eaten in a relaxed and friendly place, can’t say more than that. A proper treat.

Lunch with s friend who is another good foodie person. Tried 2 different courses each and shared dessert. I loved the tempura cuttlefish and his broth was amazing. The risotto was fresh and had deep flavours with my rump steak and veggies cooked to perfection....

Such a lovely meal. We had the five course option and every dish was perfect. They were also completely accommodating to my wife’s shellfish allergy and swapped out one course without any fuss. The staff were lovely and the atmosphere was spot on to boot.

Lovely atmosphere, friendly staff (if you have any questions about food/drink they are very knowledgable and helpful!) and most importantly AMAZING food. Would absolutely recommend Henry's. Top class dishes with experimental ideas that result in beautiful combinations of flavours, and all for a reasonable price. Will 100% be back.

Dinner at Henry's was a memorable experience. There were flavour combinations and clever cookery which we have never experienced before. The food was faultless. Only suggestion would be that the pork cheek needed a little extra seasoning.

What a wonderful place. Great food in a really cosy atmosphere with excellent staff all round. We would recommend this restaurant most highly for all those visiting Bath. If you look inside you may think it is full but it has two floors of great experience and well worth a visit.

My go to cafe for months now. Simple cafe in a really quiet location. Charming and relaxing. Not often it is busy so it’s a nice place to sit and chill. Food and coffees are great, pretty much everything a cafe needs to be is done well.

Lovely small intimate restaurant . Gorgeous decor and and subtle lighting. This is the second time we have eaten at Eight and both times the food was exquisite, beautifully presented and delicious. The staff are quietly efficient and attentive. We visit Bath often and Can’t wait to visit Eight again.
