Exceptional service from Rosy. I have a severe allergy to sesame and peanuts and Rosy went beyond my expectations for how accommodating she was. She sent me a really detailed, helpful email about allergies before attending and was so caring and careful on taking my food order and checking with the chef etc. She was so kind and made me feel really reassured about the food there and safe in her hands! She has a lovely, caring, friendly manner and made my lunch so relaxed knowing all was okay with my severe allergies! Excellent food and service, thanks so much Rosy and Bathwick Boatman we will be back!

Our experience at this fabulous restaurant couldn't have been better. From the speedy friendly response to our booking request to the warm reception, very efficient and helpful service (10 people in our party all served at once) beautifully presented delicious food, and a wonderful setting, the owners and staff deserve the highest praise. Took my father in law there for Sunday lunch. The staff was very attentive and nice. The food was lovely. We had a very good time.

Lovely place, situation and service. Sunday roast was pretty standard, nothing special, and meat was a bit chewy.

First and last. I don't do warm bottled beer off the shelf and my wife doesn't do g&t in a wine glass. Roast beef tough and a sauce was missing off undercooked veggies. Nice yorkshire pudding and surroundings. Pity . Small changes needed to improve.

Such a lovely place, I'm so glad we found this. It was decorated very tastefully with a nice view over the river. The food was delicious and the pricing is about right. The staff very friendly and attentive without being overbearing.

The food is delicious! We made reservations for a weeknight but the restaurant was quiet with plenty of space. Food came out quickly but was a high quality. The catch of the day did not disappoint!

Wow, a perfect lunch to celebrate graduation today. Excellent calamari, followed by belly of pork and pannacotta, all really tasty. Beautiful setting, just needed a deckchair for a snooze afterwards 😎

Lovely place by the river. As there was a large party next to us, it was quite noisy. Also people kept going out on the balcony so very draughty. The party of three thoroughly enjoyed their Mains and Desserts. Would recommend and definitely return!

An amazing restaurant with great friendly staff and excellent food! We went for dinner for 2 people, 2 courses each (starter + main). Be sure to check the menu online because it works different for lunches and dinners (for dinner you pay a fixed fee for either a 2-course or 3-course dinner). Beware that you need a reservation, but we called at 5pm and were able to get a table for 6pm the same day. The atmosphere was great but it got a bit loud towards the evening as there was a big group of people. Otherwise nothing to complain about, it was amazing!

My wife and I enjoyed our first wedding anniversary away in 14 years so I was looking for somewhere that we would both enjoy. We're not the kind of people who would enjoy 2-Michelin star restaurants so I wanted somewhere nice enough for an anniversary meal but also not too pretentious and that made it difficult to know what we're actually eating (foam of what?!). This place did that perfectly. With the added bonus of a beautiful location on the river. The food was amazing and the service was perfect. 3 courses for £40 (we both had steak), really is great value for the quality of the food served. I'm so glad I chose this place.

Easy parking and views an advantage too

Lovely little riverside restaurant over a boathouse. We ate indoors as my partner felt it would be too chilly for him, but most diners were taking advantage of a lovely evening. A nice menu with various options. We both went for the fish of the day, Sea Bass, which was cooked perfectly and portion sizes were just right. I had a very nice glass of Pink with my meal. It was a great place to celebrate our 25th Anniversay. The staff were attentive and friendly. A nice giggle with the maitresse d' - who may be one of the owners. It seems family run and unpretentious.

A group of us had a lovely meal during our weekend in Bath. Smiles greeted us when we walked in. Couldn't fault it at all. Rather quiet but they had been busy earlier at lunch.

Having enjoyed my first visit here I returned with my wife for lunch. We had the set price lunch which at £31.95 for three courses is extremely good value. Starting with leek & Potato soup with wild garlic pesto and freshly baked bread and butter my wife stated hers was excellent. I had the fried baby squid with chipotle mayo which was very tasty. For the main course the boss had the pressed roast belly of pork. This was outstanding I tried some of hers and it was a winner. I noticed it was very popular with it being the choice of many of our fellow diners. I chose the fish and chips and I have to say I was disappointed with it. It was well enough cooked but obviously constrained by the costs the white fish was pollack or similar and was completely lacking in flavour. I should have chosen the catch of the day which was a fillet of sea bass. I had it last time as did someone on the next table to us and it looked very nice. For dessert I had blackcurrants in clotted cream ice cream with a fruit and kirsch compote and a shortbread biscuit It was delightful . My wife had a selection of three cheeses from the Bath soft cheese company with quince jelly and grapes, crackers etc. This too is good value for just a £2 supplement. All washed down with Chardonnay and a port with the cheese it was a good lunch and came together to under £100. We will certainly be going again, I won’t be having the fish and chips but there are a number of interesting dishes on the menu I would like to try. Not least the excellent pork belly.

It was a bit of a let down there was 16 of us a family celebration we all had different meals and the food was not great and it was expensive

Stumbled across this place on our way to an evening show, quickly accommodated despite not booking, Rosie & other staff were so lovely and great for local tips. Food was amazing on top of that!

Truly, a lovely place to go for dinner. The ambience is great, food excellent and service better than anywhere else I've been to in Bath.

We had a lovely late lunch here, a varied menu, very reasonable prices and we enjoyed the terrace despite the lack of sunshine. Blankets provided! The team looked after us really well, friendly and welcoming and very efficient. Parking through the gates at the end of the street and side street parking if needed. I'm told the ginger cider was super tasty, the batter on the fish was super light, almost tempura style, I enjoyed my roast chicken with a tasty tomato sauce. All in all a very enjoyable meal. Thank you for the birthday candle in my husband's ginger sponge dessert.

A lovely restaurant just outside the city centre. We had a great set lunch, really attentive service and fantastic entertainment watching the row boats go by. Highly recommend.

About £30 + cost of drinks per person. Absolutely fantastic food and really nice/attentive staff (the right amount of check backs) - even new starter staff were incredibly polite. Nice atmosphere - not too crowded and amazing view overlooking the river could be enjoyed from inside or out. Highly recommend for anyone visiting bath.

Amazing! The owner and her team are incredibly welcoming and friendly. We had the Sunday Roast Chicken and it was an incredible meal, chicken was excellent, potatoes, broccoli and cabbage. Big serving, very filling. But we kept enough room for dessert. The Ginger pudding with clotted cream ice cream and toffee sauce was delicious. We travelled from Alberta and are making our way across the UK, but Rosy, Penny and the whole team started our trip off on a wonderfully high note.

We went as a pre-booked group. Lovely service and the staff sourced extra drinks specific to our requests at a very reasonable price. The food was excellent and to a high a la carte standard. Great location, especially when the weather is good.

One of my favourite restaurants. Rosy and the team are so welcoming and thoughtful. Food is impeccable, along with the service, in a calm, relaxed space with lovely views of the river.

Nice situation, food was very good. I don’t usually comment on individuals, but will in this case. Sophie, our waitress was wonderful, smiley, helpful and like a little fairy godmother whisking around, attending to all our needs. She alone made our visit so enjoyable.

Two course Sunday Lunch for £27, came to £73 for two with a glass of wine each and a dessert supplement. Haitian belly pork as a shared starter was very good and the (also shared) local cheese board was a highlight, with Wyfe of Bath, Bath Blue and Bath Soft Cheese, all delicious. However, what should have been the star of the show turned out to be some quite gristly, dry shoulder of lamb that also lacked flavour. We were late in the service (just after 4pm), but the lamb just needed a fair bit more time and attention. The service was friendly and welcoming, the atmosphere was quiet and pleasant.

We had a really lovely lunch at the Bathwick boatman, the food was delicious. We were especially impressed by the service - the staff were very attentive. Having mentioned it was my partner's birthday they brought her a candle to blow out and even gave her some flowers from their table decorations to take home with her, it really made her day. Overall the atmosphere was lovely, and I couldn't recommend a visit more !

Delicious and quality Sunday roast. The beef was super tender and melted in the mouth and the super tasty gravy with all the veggies was mouth watering. The service is allways really nice and attentive. I've been a couple of times before and allways has been really good. Food, drinks and service are top 10.

I had a delightful Christmas meal with my colleagues at that place. The food was delicious, and the interior was adorned with beautiful Christmas decorations, creating a lovely atmosphere.

Rosy and her staff were so welcoming and friendly, and service was impeccable. The venue was very comfortable and cosy. The food was top class and couldn’t fault it at all. Will definitely be back again. Give it a try, you won’t be disappointed.

I had a lovely Christmas meal with friends at the Bathwick today. The staff were attentive and polite. I was disappointed with the selection of vegetarian options and that they only had vegan options. However the food was delicious and I was impressed with the flavours! I had the lemon hummus and the risotto. I cannot fault them aside from wishing for a few more options and maybe an extra toilet as there is only one male and female.

Back again for another Birthday celebration. Other tables, civilised and well behaved - ours like a playgroup party! We were well looked after and really well fed (Xmas dinner). Always a pleasure.

Ate here for the second time recently, after commenting on the lack of vegetarian options a couple of years ago. I’m pleased to say that the vegetarian options were absolutely delicious this time, particularly the lentils & beans in pastry with a rich tomato sauce. Our meat eating family members also loved the options on offer. The restaurant is in a beautiful location of the river and was beautifully lit with candles and fairy lights too.

We came for Sunday roast and it was delicious! We went for the three course meal; each was incredible and the perfect portions to leave us full. Service was attentive and the place has a lovely atmosphere and views too! Thank you guys :)

We held a surprise birthday party here for a party of 15. From the first enquiry Rosy and the team were brilliant, we organized pre-orders and all the admin with no hassle. The food was superb, highlights for me were the chorizo starter and belly pork (*WOULD RECOMMEND!*). The team were fab on the night, nothing was too much trouble, and service was attentive and extremely prompt. Beautiful setting, terrific food and exceptional service. A massive thank you to Rosy and the genuinely lovely team and a big recommendation from us.

For the second year we had our Petanque awards ceremony here. To serve dinner for 50 people simultaneously is tricky, but to serve such great food, and so quickly is a amazing skill. Friendly staff, good prices, and a great venue! Highly recommended!

Visited frequently for over 8 years, fantastic food and service however diversity of the menu has decreased over time, and sadly the specials board is no longer present We used to look forward to new dishes each visit but sadly feel it’s repetitive nowadays

I booked a table here but then couldn't make it due to unforeseen circumstances (amicably cancelled with management) - the staff were great however and our drinks were excellent. I'll be back. Sorry.

My daughter suggested meeting for lunch and chose the boatman because although it’s near Bath City centre it has great parking facilities. Neither of us had been before, but it turned out to be an excellent choice. We were warmly greeted and providing a high chair for my granddaughter was no problem. The setting next to the river is lovely and most importantly the food was excellent and approaching Michelin star standard in my opinion. The lunch menu offered a number of choices for starters, main and dessert courses which at £30, bearing in mind the quality of the food is extremely good value. We both had calamari with chipotle mayonnaise and a dressed rocker garnish to start, it was fresh and melt in the mouth tender. For mains my daughter had the slow cooked pork belly which she declared to be delicious. I had the catch of the day which proved to be sea bass. Fish cookery is a delicate business and easy to get wrong. My sizeable portion of sea bass was cooked to perfection. The skin side crispy and the flesh beautifully soft and moist, the chef who cooked that certainly knows what he is doing! Dessert for both of us was stem ginger pudding with clotted cream ice cream and toffee sauce. Another triumph! Along with the excellent food the service was equally good and although I spend most of my time in Spain these days I look forward to coming again as soon as possibly.

The Sunday roast beef was inedible as it was so tough and I nearly choked on it. Sent it back and it was replaced by the chicken which was over cooked. This came with 3 small potatoes, one slice of carrot, a spoonful of dried up bullet like peas and some red cabbage. All for the unbelievable price of £17.95. Disgraceful.

Very accommodating staff when we had reserved a table but a few members of the party were running late. Service was very good, food nice enough and a good location sat outside looking out over the river.

Ate at the Bathwick Boatman as part of our week's stay in Bath, and what a nice experience it was. The location is good being right on the banks of the river Avon. The food is of a high standard, it was full of flavour and beautifully presented and the staff are super friendly and professional. It was a lovely night out.

We had a table booked inside but on the day it was really sunny and so the staff had moved an extra table outside so we could sit out and enjoy the sunshine. The view is lovely and you could sit all day watching the boats go up and down. The food was great. Would definitely recommend

What an absolute and amazing experience. Beautiful surroundings and excellent attentive staff and truly amazing food . The Chef excelled himself on the varied menu on offer and all courses were cooked to perfection please be aware this was a party of over 20 persons with various choices of menu and service was exceptional just what you would have expected from a 5 star hotel. Table set with beautiful fresh flowers. The Sunday roast was absolutely delicious and well presented. Service was great with a lovely dining experience. Highly recommend this individual restaurant and will definitely be returning maybe with a punt of a little boat trip..

Hidden gem in a beautiful location on the river. Close to Sydney Gardens so lovely walks close by. Restaurant is really pretty with a lovely covered balcony overlooking the river. Lunchtime was very quiet and the service was excellent. An authentic Bath business definitely worth visiting away from the tourist hub. Menu could have been a bit more exciting and seasonal, especially the desserts, but we will definitely return as we had a lovely time.

Nice ambience for family and kids for Sunday lunch. Wonderful location by the Avon, good helpful service. We had not been for about a year, good memories from then. This time the food was very disappointing, the roast beef was grey and overcooked, roast potatoes soft, together with shop bought and reheated Yorkshire puddings. Cafeteria food at best, charged at real restaurant prices.

Yesterday we had Sunday lunch for my father in law’s birthday and I cannot praise the Boatman enough. Food was delicious, service was fantastic and all of our ‘special requirements’ were met without question. I am vegan, my father in law is coeliac and my three year old is allergic to dairy and soya so we are not the easiest crowd! But Rosie and her team went above and beyond and we were perfectly catered for and made to feel that nothing was too much trouble.

This place was lovely. The food was amazing and delicious with each course being faultless. The staff were friendly and accommodating after making a very last minute reservation. We sat out on the terrace which was nice, with the staff bringing blankets and cushions. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Absolutely wonderful experience. Be sure to book ahead. Lovely Riverside setting with amazing food and super staff. The best pork belly I have ever had, meltingly tender, barely any fat, and the crispest pork crackling. Cannot fault it all, and can't wait to visit again when next in Bath.

Very British food, had better calamari, had better pork belly. Mashed potatoes were overly stiff and cabbage was the only vegetable served on a plate swimming in gravy. Venue is a delight perched on the River Avon but the food needs a bit of work to justify the £26 a head menu.
