The Ivy in Bath and North East Somerset

The food was good, couldn’t fault the service but felt like just paying for the name. Very expensive, ambiance wasn’t great. Allot better places to eat in Bath. Wouldn’t recommend it, sorry.

Visited Bath with my husband for a weekend break as a treat for his birthday and booked The Ivy for dinner! What a big mistake! It started badly upon arrival when we arrived 15 minutes before the booking and the two girls at the door made us feel very unwelcome! They literally said you have to go and come back your table is not ready!We asked if we could get a drink at the bar whilst we waited and was told: NO The bar is very busy! When we back, they gave us the small table at the entrance , next to the door which was crammed between the other big table, we asked if we could have a different table and the girl almost laugh to our face saying that it was impossible as it was very busy!Finally, they gave us another table! What a bad and poor behaviour from the staff! It took ages to have some drinks and to order the food, The service was so slow , the staff was not prepared! I still remember the couple sitting next to us they spent the whole evening trying to get someone to ask for drinks. The food is very poor! I asked for cod and it was swimming in soya, my husband had steak but it was nothing special! Literally they ruin our evening! Very unprofessional staff , food very average and horrible service!

I adore the Ivy restaurants and bath did not disappoint. The decor was as usual stunning, perfect for photographs and a general lovely atmosphere. The food is also always delicious

A friend was treating me to lunch and wanted somewhere special so guessed the Ivy would be a good choice. Unfortunately for what she ended up paying we were left rather disappointed. We had the 3 course set menu which included a glass of fizz which we thought was reasonable. Sadly the cod I ordered was lukewarm and I wasn't convinced it was actually cooked enough and my friends vegetable tagine had inedible squash in it , way too undercooked to digest so she had to leave most of it. We couldn't fault our starters and puddings but really it was all a bit underwhelming and when the bill came we found we had been charged £12 each for our second glass of fizz , I'd like champagne for that price please! When we mentioned the problem with the food it wasn't really acknowledged but it wasn't the waitresses fault I know. And the service charge that is added on doesn't even go to the waiting staff we found out later, so annoyed we didn't take that off! So what should have been a £60-£70 bill ended up nearer to £100. Very disappointing all round so sadly won't return in a hurry.

What a lovely restaurant, customer service was spot on ( waiter from York) food was lovely, even had a birthday celebration cake off them with a candle. Nicest Ivy we been too. My only grumble, we sat close to the next table

I have eaten at The Ivy countless times including the Bath restaurant, but this time it was sadly a let down. I came in with my teenage daughter for lunch, the restaurant was fairly quiet ( it was a Tuesday) and we were seated swiftly. Our server was a tall, I'm guessing, teenage young man who either hadn't yet learned how to properly serve or just didn't care. Drinks took ages to arrive and when we indicated we were ready to order, he acknowledged it but then walked away and took payment from another table even though we'd gotten his attention first. Another older gentleman saw us waiting and took our order, he was impeccably professional and polite and exactly the service standard I'm used to at the Ivy. We had arrancini balls to start which were incredibly salty, I'd had them before and asked the older gentleman if the recipe had changed, he said not but apologised and offered to take them off the bill which was really kind and at the time made up for the lacklustre service. Our mains were ok, my daughter had the tempura squid starter as a main with chips and she enjoyed them. I had the fishcake which I've also had plenty of times and it too was very salty, but I didn't wish to cause a fuss so said nothing. To be fair though, no-one checked back once to check on our meal or if we needed anything. When the young man came to take payment I was so keen to leave I just paid, but afterwards realised he'd not taken the arrancini off and I'd paid £7 service charge for the pleasure. In fairness, he did apologise and caught me at the front door to refund, but by that point it was too much, I was overwhelmed and needed to get out. I love the Ivy and will return, just not to this branch.

Visited to celebrate two special birthdays on the evening of Friday 16th August 2024. Good part first - OUTSTANDING SERVER ELLIE. Very professional but relaxed and casual style of conversation, knowledgable about the available dishes and informative. However, this place is overpriced for the quality and portion sizes of food - worked out at over £70 per head for three courses, a bottle of wine and a bottle of sparkling water when services charges are added in. I had Lamb Rump for my main course, which was over cooked and delivered on a cold plate, therefore the food was cold. From a bad start to a better ending as my dessert (Apple Tart Fine) was one of the nicest desserts I've had in a long time. This place is Overpriced, they Under-delivered and I am Underwhelmed.

We had an early dinner couple weeks ago at The Ivy Bath. We enjoyed every moment of being at the restaurant specially Sharareh, your waitress was totally blessing we had who made sure we were spoiled! Thanks Sharareh you are the Star!

Ideally located in Bath City Centre and with a great name and heritage, we expected much from the restaurant especially as we have had a wonderful experience in London. The welcome was good and as always the restaurant was very well presented, however after that, it became decidedly underwhelming, we were tended to by a trainee, side plates were missing as well as cutlery, it was an hour and a half before we saw a sight of our main courses and on each occasion our empty plates were just left on the table for what seemed like an eternity. The food was bland and warm at best, there was a significant service charge included in the bill which was simply not earned. Disappointed and unlikely to return based on this experience.

We were celebrating my nephew’s 21st birthday and were not disappointed, service was good and food excellent, we were nervous as had a bad experience in the ivy in Marlowe, but the Bath restaurant did Not disappoint, I would definitely recommend this place

The team at the Ivy Bath are fantastic. A special credit to Anya 💖for making our night so special! I particularly enjoyed the Shepherds pie and the Ivy champagne - the attention to detail was fantastic , as we were offered a takeaway box and even some complementary Christmas mince pies 🎄🍾 The food was absolutely scrumptious - The lemon tenderstems were a firm favourite between the two of us. Thank you to everyone At the Ivy , we will definitely be returning closer to Christmas for another celebration 🧑‍🎄

My first experience at The Ivy and it won’t be my last. Had an absolute perfect evening! The staff went above and beyond, thank you!

We Visited on a Friday night for our wedding anniversary after hearing our friends and family rave about the London branches. Unfortunately we left throughly underwhelmed, sat on a table right by the till, staff constantly knocking my arms as they rushed to the till, service was awful, had one drink to start, order a glass of wine for my meal, drink didn’t arrive, finally asked the waitress if my drink was on the way to be told she had forgotten to put it through, had the cheek to add a service charge at the end of the meal which was removed after I raised my disappointment. Despite the poor service the food served was actually nice, shame the service staff let our experience down, we won’t rush to return.

Very disappointed booked as a surprise lunch to celebrate my friend’s 60th I did mention this in comments before arriving as I know they bring out a birthday wish Nothing was mentioned even though Evers around had a candle and happy birthday felt disappointed and let down for my friend as she had reached 60 years with no mention!!! Awful service, left at bar for 45 minutes and then when sat at table no service. Left without eating . Totally different experience from any other Ivy we have visited which have all been excellent!

This place is amazing. Gorgeous sumptuous decor, professional service-great food at a reasonable price. The deserts were out of this world- yummo!. We had the 3 course set menu and it was beautifully presented, delicious and great value.

Every course was delicious the cocktails were spot on !! The meal was late coming out but the staff handled the situation brilliantly and we left feeling very happy and would come back again.

Very disappointed. We arrived and were seated at a lovely corner table. No one offered to take our coats so we took these over to reception who took them in. We were not offered a drink and after waiting 35 minutes a man came to take our food order. We explained that we had wanted a pre dinner drink and he apologised for the delay and took our drinks order. He gave us our drinks on the house due to the wait. We then ordered our food. I had advised the restaurant in advance of my nut allergy and again when placing my order. When the food came I could see that the green beans were covered in almonds. The man who took our order spotted it and moved the beans to one side and returned them. They came back without any nuts but I was too nervous to eat them. I would not expect such a serious error from The Ivy. Lastly, I had put on my booking that we were celebrating our anniversary and no reference was made to this during our meal. Very very disappointed.

We visited The Ivy for our anniversary. We had a corner table in the impressive first floor bar and restaurant area. We enjoyed cocktails at the bar made by a fantastic barman. Our waitress Yasmin displayed high levels of customer service throughout our visit. Our starters, mains and dessert were fine dining at its best. My wife had the lemon sole which was cooked to perfection. I enjoyed the wild mushroom and truffle linguini. They also provided a complimentary anniversary chocolate dessert. In our ten years together this was one of our dining highlights. Cannot praise the staff at The Ivy enough.

recently visited the IVY in Bath and wanted to give you my feedback. I am coeliac and the process to understand what was available to eat was very convoluted.I was given the original menu to start and then told I had to scan the Qr code to see gluten free options - once cereal and soya were excluded I had an option of 1 starter. I then asked which items were on the early bird menu to be told that that was a different menu and that I would have to cross refer the paper menu ( which has only 3 starter options) with the scanned menu to see which ones were gluten free . The waitress then explained that while the asian items were not on the gluten free menu that some could be made gluten free . This back and forth with the waitress took 45 minutes - not her fault just the system is not effective or customer friendly. In addition the only fish option on the early bird option was not available - my mum asked if a fish option could be made available and was told this would be possible. Not ideal . In order to expedite the process I ordered the tomato and basil salad with sherry vinegar dressing to start. The waitress explained it was a small portion. When it arrived it was just chopped cherry tomatoes. When I asked the waitress where was the basil she said it was in the dressing. The description is misleading.I explained that i would have expected some basil leaves at least and I asked if it was possible to get some green salad leaves to go with the tomatoes. After a short delay a different server came over and gave me some leaves. However they had a dressing on them and didn't know if it was gluten free so I had to get the attention of a waiter who had to double check. I have only been diagnosed with coeliac in the last 6 months but eat out a lot and have never seen such an complicated process for managing allergies despite the extensive menu . In addition when we went to order drinks we were offered 3 menus - a this point we all felt like leaving. There was also an error with the bill and a discretionary service charge automatically applied.

The ivy is one of my favourite restaurants and this was our first time visiting the Bath one. Very dissapointed with the service. Seated and given menus and then no-one came to offer a drink or anything for ages. Was told that our waitress went on break and they didn’t reallse and apologised which we accepted. Service & food then were both good but at the end we were given dessert menus, our waitress told us she was finishing soon and then no-one came back or checked on us for 30 minutes so we couldn’t ask for dessert or the bill. Tried to flag down other staff with no luck. Really not the service we are used to or expect in the Ivy and left us feeling dissapointed.

We booked a table weeks in advance of our visit to bath. We were absolutely astonished they chose to sit us on a tiny table beside the service station. The level of interruption was horrible. After complaining, we were moved to a really nice table. Why they chose to seat us in what was probably the worst table in the place when there were so many others available appears to be an “Ivy” thing as this has happened to us before when we had booked weeks in advance. Things went from bad to worse when my cod, which was not fresh, was over cooked and it and the vegetables were both cold. It went back so my husband ended up having his dinner while I waited for fish and chips. Which I must admit were lovely. But I went to the Ivy for something a little more gourmet than fish and chips. The head waiter tried to fix the situation and was attentive and efficient. He offered to delete the service charge from the bill, but didn’t offer to cancel the price of the fish or offer a drink which would have softened the blow a little. I don’t have much inclination to return to an Ivy restaurant any time soon.
