The best restaurants in South West

We were recommended to come here, it’s small limited seating- we’re lucky to get a seat by the window. Good quality, freshly cooked, no nonsense breakfast. What’s not to like.

Goodbye! Oh dear! How can I tell you about our favourite local pub? This morning 28 July 2024 a friend knowing our love of the George Inn said the local newspaper had announced the pub was closing today. Our last visit was on the 21st June for a wonderful lunch. In all the occasions we have visited we have never had a bad experience and always been complimentary over the cuisine as their chef Dave knew his skills in his menus would please patrons. With plans in for a change of use it is not likely this wonderful hostelry will ever revert to being a pub. The local community is much concerned re this closure so we are not the only people who will miss venturing onto the Brendon Hills to celebrate family occasions. Tears are welling!! I would rate this establishment zero stars if possible. The staff exhibited a complete lack of empathy during a personal crisis. My mother was hospitalized abroad, necessitating urgent travel the following day. Amidst this turmoil, I attempted to order food but was uncertain if the Apple Pay transaction was successful. Consequently, my partner sought food elsewhere. At 9:40 PM, I received a call from a staff member informing me that my fish and chips were ready. Already having fish and chips at home, I was confused. While attempting to take an important call from the hospital regarding my mother, the staff member became increasingly rude, stating that our conversation was being recorded and that I would be charged regardless. This insensitivity during a critical moment was appalling. If retaining the £24 is worth more to them than customer compassion, I will certainly not return. The order day was 08.03.25 just in case if you still have my recording.

Wow 🤩 what an amazing little pub, roaring fire, friendly atmosphere, Tim and Heather were such fantastic hosts so knowledgeable about the pub and its history. The food was absolutely fantastic thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommend this hidden gem.💎

Really lovely Turkish cafe next to Central Station. Fantastic menu of breakfast, brunch, lunch and Turkish food. I had the Turkish meze for £12.95 and it was delicious and plentiful! Great place for coffee and a sweet treat too!

This place is a gem, we stopped in on the way to Longleat. Very decent "cafe" food, generous portions and the service is outstanding. As the parent of a child with autism I was really pleased to see that they employ neurodiverse people. Finally, it's very good value for money. 4 of us had brunch with drinks for £50. George was a wonderful waiter, kind, friendly and some of the best customer service I've ever had. They also catered for my son's gluten-free diet, to the extent of putting fresh oil into the fryer for his chips. There is parking very nearby, 1 hour is free. I couldn't fault it.

Fabulous, authentic and cheap! Can you get all 3 things together??? Yes!! What great food! Lovely serving staff. Fantastic value. We ate every bit. Well cooked and traditional menu. Definitely visit. Took the kids too! The chicken tikka was of particular value/quality. I had vegetable biriani and it was perfect - crispy outside, sauce inside and full of veg.

The burger was great as usual but unfortunately the chips were inedible, cold and hard, obviously not remotely fresh which is such a shame as I wouldn’t normally have any complaints

An lovely tea Garden and great for a ploughman's lunch. The staff are very pleasant and the service and quality of the food is excellent.

Pasties here are excellent! Filing is tasty and not too peppery as some tend to be. Lovely proportion of meat to veg too. Best in Newquay and we've tried a few over the years.

What a find just by chance popped in on a Sunday lunch time to find plenty of tables that were filling up fast we decided the Sunday carvery was a great idea the staff are all so friendly and happy to help what can i say about the food well the quality was amazing all cooked beautifully I would recommend this place to everyone
