The best restaurants in Winchester South East

We stopped here for Sunday lunch on our way home from the New Forest. We chose a roast which was a generous size with fresh veg, a Hugh Yorkshire and the meat just melted in the mouth. The staff were friendly and service was prompt. Isaac was very friendly and helped choose a great red wine to compliment our dinner. Would definitely recommend a visit to this cosy pub… 🤩

I was there Monday morning (11 Nov at about 10:30 am). A lady waitress with a loud and mocking tone told me that Costa doesn’t provide for vegans anymore because no one wants vegan food and they are wasted. I was startled. I was hungry and wanted to have a peaceful breakfast and certainly I was not in a mood of making public announcement about my dietary requirements! I had to stay for the other person with me. Asked for a flat white with oat milk if they haven’t binned their oat milk as well. After I paid for my coffee and left, she and her colleague were laughing behind my back. I am glad she stuff members were having a good time. But I will not go to any Costa ever again since they don’t have anything I can eat there. I don’t recommend this particular branch to anyone unless you enjoy communicating with rude and unprofessional stuff members before your coffee! They can’t even manage to make coffee. It was cold. It was symbolic that they failed to make the heart shape on my coffee (see picture). Their heart was certainly not in it!

We tried to find this place and think it is closed now. Lots of building work going on in what we thought have been it’s location.

My partner and I got turned away by a young lady because we didn't have a booking when the restaurant was half empty with absolutely no explanation as to why. Even if it's the restaurants policy to not accept walk ins after a certain time, maybe train your staff in how to handle it better. We like wildwood. After this experience we won't be rushing back.

Tasted the same as going in which is a rarity with deliveries. Very pleased!

Good food, good service. Good value

I can't believe I haven't left a review already! Been going to The Shoe for the last 14 years and continue to do so at least once a month. Never had a bad meal or experience ever. Great friendly staff, food and atmosphere. Would highly recommend.

Had a great lunch today at this superb pub in the Hampshire countryside . Such a delightful historical building with friendly atmosphere and great bar staff. And lots of good natured dogs!

Lovely food, there was a band playing couldn't hear yourself think too loud. Before you sit down check the chairs 🪑🪑

Was at a party there in a private room. Staff were great. Lovely place.

Since when does "extra hot" chocolate equate to "luke warm". Do I have to ask for "bubbling hot" or what? It all gets a bit tedious in the end so you just don't go as often. They hear but don't listen.

Prefer independents but my favourite of the chains.

Good food, friendly staff, and many parking spaces.
