It's was ok we didn't eat here as the menu was not to our liking and felt it was a bit expensive for what was on offer .

We sat in the garden a man was playing music and singing,a magician was in the garden alsoface painting,we had pizz home made to order.

The beer is expensive. Nice atmosphere there.

We went to The White Horse in Otterborn for my wife’s birthday, and it was a rip-off. Over a hundred pounds for overcooked chicken goujons, fish and chips, a trout dish, and one appetizer. No acknowledgment of her birthday despite noting it in the reservation. Grossly overpriced for mediocre food. Avoid at all costs.

The worst meal for some time. Venison burger over cooked and visually burnt a so called salad with out dated water and cress. New potatoes that were so over boiled. Bar staff pushing orange slices into my glass with their fingers. A afternoon to forget. Nobody had the manners or training to enquire why l did not eat my meal

I ride past this pub on the bus and had the opportunity to pop in last Saturday for a pint, it was a warm day, I had a pint of Asahi Japanese beer, seems a little pricey, but respect it is a rural pub. Atmosphere fantastic client and staff, they have a little store of smelly soap and little books and trinkets. I recommend this pub and must try food soon. Thank you.

A pretty poor selection of drinks, and had to settle for a warm Inch's pint of cider as that's all they had cider wise. £16 for 2 pints and a kids drink, so pretty steep in my opinion. The beer garden had only one table free which had been cleared of previous customers empty drinks, despite the place having plenty of staff. To top it off I received a passive aggressive telling off for going back out to the beer garden via seemingly the wrong exit despite there actually being no one in the restaurant eating food and it being an open door to the garden area, so not sure what the issue was as its the direct route out. If its an issue, close/barrier it off. Found the staff to be quite rude in general. We won't be returning which is a shame as the pub is in a good location for us livng locally.

Friendly staff, roast dinners served on cold plates and not particularly warm. Only one slice of beef cut into two pieces. Cauliflower cheese was mostly raw. Side dishes arrived slowly after the main plates arrived. Crispy asian chicken salad ( a small portion for £18 ! ) was just warm shredded chicken on a dry coleslaw base with a small drizzle of a lime mayo and a few micro coriander leaves and nigella seeds. I was expecting the chicken to be crispy as advertised on the menu.

Had a family meet up here. Biggest problem is it always feels a hit cold. Its a very large space very open plan. Service very good and good food options. I had the spiced carrot soup though and it had no seasoning at all as far as I could tell. Great pakoras with it though.

Nice beer and lovely Fish & Chips

A popular gastro-pub most of the seating is reserved for diners. There is a garden behind the pub with children's play equipment. Food service can be slow when busy. Also the quality of the real ale is variable.

Went there for lunch with the wife and our 3 dogs. Very warm welcoming pub with lovely staff. Food was great as was the service. Highly recommend this place

Fantastic family meal to celebrate Bank Holiday Monday. Food was brilliant, service was great, venue is lovely. Thank you to all the team there. (Slow cooked lamb ragu and the crispy chicken salad were bob on! 👌🏼) Worth saying also perfect for popping in for a quick pint of Neck Oil after work sometimes!

Lovely visit after a dog walk. Nothing was too much trouble for the team, even helping us secure a 10% discount by signing up to their app. Food was very good and everyone left feeling satisfied. Good selection of ales and wine. You can really spoil yourself at this place. We will be visiting the sister restaurant to get the great deals through the app. Thanks for looking after the 6 off us and our fury friend.

Tilly, our waitress, was lovely and very attentive. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars for food was in my opinion the salt and pepper calamari needed more salt - and I NEVER ever do that - but perversely the ox cheek dish needed less salt.

Amazing place! I was there last Sunday with friends and it was incredibly.

Staff all very friendly but a drink was forgotten, I think we were later in the day and the staff were going on breaks. Had to ask for an additional pot of gravy but maybe would be nice to provide that for anyone who would like it, we are northern so maybe it’s just us.

We had a perfect Sunday lunch on new year's day. Nice cosy atmosphere with friendly and welcoming manager and staff. First rate service and the most delicious panna cotta that I've ever tasted. Thank you for a lovely experience.

The food was very good but a bit pricey. The staff were friendly and helpfu in some waysl but when we weren't ready to order when they first asked they seemed to forget about us .... twice.... once for the main and then again for dessert.

Met with friends as Otterbourne is a midpoint between them and us. We used to meet up at another pub down the road but I think we'll come here in future. Great food. Lovely beer. Warm and cosy atmosphere.

We felt the White Horse really thought about our comfort with 10 adults and 5 babies, and gave us a flexible area with plenty space for buggies. The Christmas menu was delicious, reasonably priced, and the staff really looked after us. Will definitely be back soon!

Just went for lunch and was impressed with the look and service. I had a steak baguette but only 3 tiny strips of fatty steak . Not value for money . My husband had the burger , nothing special . All this cost approx £67 including the gratuity one glass of small red and a pint of lager . Extremely overpriced and not a great deal of choice on the mains menu. It’s a shame as the venue looks the part, but the food needs to match to warrant the high prices. Service was very welcoming and attentive though .

We went for an early meal at about 5 pm on Friday night, the 15th Nov 23. Young female staff were very welcoming and made us feel relaxed straight away. Duty Manager/Owner, not sure which was also very pleasant and took time to speak with us. Food great I had the fish and chips and my husband had the Sea Bass. We shared a lovely cold bottle of proscetto. First time visit, but it won't be the last. The roaring wood fire 🔥 was excellent. A very disappointing experience here a couple of nights ago. The starters are overpriced and the menu for main meals is limited. For starter two small slices of sourdough toast, some truffle butter and olive tapenade was £9. For main, we had a satay chicken burger which was dry and a pea risotto which was tepid at best. The risotto was exchanged and I ate it as I was hungry but it wasn't very flavoursome. The mains came before the starter was finished despite us saying we weren't ready. Not recommended at all

On visiting The White Horse it was nice to take a photo of the white horse outside. Having Drinks and Crisps to just sit inside and relax was nice. The Bar Staff Seemed friendly. I Liked how there was a Gift Shop there. All round very nice. I would visit again.

The White Horse was very convenient for catching a ferry from Portsmouth so booked a table for breakfast. We both had Advocado & poached eggs on sourdough, delicious with lovely hot latte coffees. The service was great, very efficient & served with a smile.

Really enjoyable Friday lunch at the White Horse. We were lucky to get a table as hadn't booked and must pass our thanks to the gentlemen who was just finishing up and vacated his table. This set the tone for lunch: friendly clientele; friendly staff; prompt service; very quick turn round on food; delicious food; accompanied by lovely drinks, Flower Pots Perridge in my case. Would recommend a visit, but check what's on and consider booking to avoid being disappointed. They have a good sized car park to the rear as well as spaces out front. Nice size garden with plenty of seating and some cabins out front for more private outdoor dining. Check out their app for ordering and paying, it also has special offers. Starting with the positives: Lovely atmosphere, with a little gift shop and other lovely locally produced items to buy around the pub. The staff were young but helpful. The children's menu was reasonably priced (£7 for a main course) and a good portion size. Our daughter really enjoyed it. The courgette fritters were delicious but a small portion, seemed like a large starter for £17. The children's menu option was bigger! This could easily be rectified by adding some rice or quinoa with it. The 'crispy' chicken salad was not crispy, instead the chicken was shredded throughout and my partner said he did not really enjoy it. Also £17. Seemed expensive for what it is but if you sign up to their app you get 10% off which helps. A meal for 2 adults and 1 child came to £60 including a top

Bit of a hit and miss ( more towards miss) . The trout brunch was delicious. Burgers were too greasy . Fish and chips probably the worst I ever had . A 12% service charge on top . For the price I would expect nothing less than exceptional service . This was nothing close . Mediocre at best .

Grossly over priced and staff accused us of not ordering something ,when WE PROVED we had there was little apology.

We just went for drinks. There’s a lovely small shop with gift ideas. We went in the afternoon. It’s part of a small chain which do rewards on their app. You need to know your table number but unfortunately there are none so you have to ask then order through the app and the rewards upload automatically. % off the bill It’s nice and chilled

Menu a bit confusing, not you're starters, mains etc. However it was really good.

The food was good (Asian chicken salad, pea risotto), but not the biggest portion size and overpriced, especially with the auto 12.5% tip.

Disappointing tonight. Unfortunately there was a power cut. As a result food came out luke warm and staff less than attentive could not have our drinks. The power cut of course not the staff fault and unexpected . Would have thought as a gesture of good will an invitation to return at a later date for a complementary meal would have been appreciated. Spoiled our impromptu Sunday roast experience. This would not have our experience under a previously manageress from a few years back, we were regulars at one time and were passing tonight and thought we would drop by again.

I tried the smoked trout and scrambled eggs on toast from the brunch menu and it was delicious and my daughter had the full English and she really enjoyed hers too, will come again next time I'm in the area.

The overall atmosphere is tad supercilious, but the staff are all friendly and polite so I don’t think this is a reflection on them.

We had a good dinner experience here a couple of months ago, but that was topped by a great lunch/brunch today! The service was great, attentive but not intrusive…even nailing that end of meal time when you don’t know when you’ll catch someone’s eye to get the bill - everything from being seated on the beautiful dining patio, to prompt ordering and delivery of food was excellent. And that’s not the best bit…this place has the best pub menu I’ve perhaps ever seen if you like a broad selection of gastro options (and more veggie options than I’ve seen in a pub before…but I’m not a veggie). I love a pie and chips, but when I take my wife out to lunch we like to have something different and perhaps even healthy…it’s usually slim pickings for such options but not here! I had a delicious smoked trout brunch and my wife had a confit duck poke bowl, both absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. There’s also plenty of options for varying family dynamics including a semi separate kids play structure and beer garden style area. This is fast becoming my favourite place to eat in Hampshire…and it’s very close to home. Well done and thank you White Horse Otterbourne!

Excellent food, but the level of service didn't match the standard of the food. I had to go to the bar & collect my drinks order which was just sitting there.

Very expensive tiny portions of not very impressive food. Sadly this place has gone downhill since my last visit in 2019 when the prices and quality were highly commendable. They exclaimed they had to compete with the local competition but I disagree, they were a great pub, with great local food and good prices now they charge more for less with less quality.

This is one of my locals. It's good. It sells Timothy Taylors, which is good. The food is good but a little pricey. With the ideal collection app, the food becomes reasonably priced.

Not dog friendly! Most of the staff were lovely and welcoming but one was so rude to us. I came with two well behaved dogs and sat in the garden. We didn't see there was a gate behind where the dogs were lying down sleeping with leads tied to the table - this staff member came through all of a sudden, making them jump, so they barked. I immediately called them to me and made the sit, they stopped barking. However, the staff member was so rude, even though I apologised and explained they were just surprised. Said we would have to leave. Probably just scared her, but there shouldn't be staff afraid of dogs in a dog friendly pub! Shame because everyone else in the pub loved the dogs.

I frequent this place and normally its a pleasant experience. When things go wrong though they are unequipped or have a manager who is clearly uncapable. Today is Mothers day for my mother and my partner. They screwed up, we waited 1.5hrs for the main course, had a 2yr old with (where we asked for the mains during the starter) and was seriously poor. Decent customer service or common sense normally makes a frustrating situation better but 3 incapable/uninformed table staff a moody assistant manager and one of the worst managers I have ever experienced means i wont return. Ignorance and arrogance paired with unprofessional behaviour impacted what should of been a nice family lunch. The manager there should be sent for training or replaced as the stare as we walked out doesn’t sit well and thus am not sure her staff will learn anything from her “guidance”. I gave it 2 stars ONLY as the food (when we eventually got it) was good.

Visited with a birthday party. Quite limited menu, overpriced food and not very good quality. King prawn Linguine, had tiny pieces of cut up prawn and was tasteless. When I asked for a dressing for my side salad I was told " we don't have one" and the waiter walked off. Slow service and young staff did not seem to be very organised. Food was discounted from bill when I voiced my disappointment. Not a good experience.
