Caffè Nero in Winchester

Always a huge queue in the mornings - with only two members of staff behind the counter! (With both having to make the drinks to keep up which means a slow moving queue). Small independent business I could understand - but a big chain like this? Could easily have a couple more on to serve & make the coffee quicker. Shame because we really enjoy coming here and a big fan of Nero usually.

Pretty awful quality espresso-based coffee, I only go here because Octopus Energy give me a free voucher every week. People probably don't notice because they all drink lattes which mask the taste.

Always good atmosphere. Lovely air-conditioning. Tasty food . Service normally slow. Brilliant man wiping tables down keeping them all clean . Coffee is always good . Don't think should be charging for alternative milks though bit cheeky . Dogs allowed.

Lovely hot chocolate, only thing I would say is having dogs in the store just find this unhygienic. Also a lady spilt a cold drink and the barista did his best to clean but she was a rude customer and she could've moved to give him more room! Pleasant visit will come back again!!

Update: Awful Barista, horrible experience today. First time I've ordered via the app. I was excited- I politely asked where my coffee is (9 minutes after it was due). Very rude Barista reply as they turned their back on me. 10 minutes after app says it will be ready and Barista will not answer where my coffee is. At my 3rd polite question they say its not made yet. I am so disappointed to write this about such a lovely coffee shop. I hope he hears about this review. Also the Automated Doors are not working again - not inside or outside today. A Disabled Person could not get through at all until someone else helped. Previously: Great coffee as always - the best! Shame they are short staffed and closed early. So remember to walk to the Whiteley toilets before coming here if its later in the day. You'll also need your 240v charger as there are no USB points here - there are some 240v sockets to plug into though, which is good. Powered entry door is fixed again - but I'm still amazed the sign for it is so unclear.

It's OK. Nothing special, strange background music and I know it's not always popular to say these days but the amount of Dogs in there so close to you while eating is not my idea of relaxing. Staff where very nice though.

A coffee shop, better than local rivals, but still just a coffee shop. I avoid Starbucks & Costa everywhere, but Neros is much better cleaner, friendlier in my opinion.

So slow its unbearable, 20 minutes and they'd served 1 person! Recommend the Starbucks around the corner, you at least stand a chance of getting served.

Nice place. Seems sterile and atmospheric at the same time. I have had black coffee, which was good.

It's so slow to get a drink, the tables are all sticky, the chairs are filthy & the toilet I would have put police tape around it. When the man behind the counter gave a pup cup to a dog, smoothed him and then made my drink without washing his hands that was it for me :(

Good coffee served by friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable baristas. Always nice to stop fir a coffee and just people watch for a while, after mosying round the shops at Whiteley. All the staff there make it a better experience and l enjoyed their recommended coffee bean of the month - very smooth ( the coffee not the patter!). And the nibbles bits are good to albeit getting a tad expensive these days - so we tend to just go for a coffee. Very Nice. Keep it up Cafe NERO..

Had one of my worst service here today, EVER. The new staffs are so much worst than the ones before. So unfriendly, impolite, and this lady that was making my order charged me wrongly and she doesn’t even apologise for once and talked in a manner as if she owns the world. I’m not even mad about the fact she charged me wrongly, it was solely her attitude. So disappointing as it’s one of our favourite places to get our coffees 👎 Appalling service

Popped in yesterday morning, Food was ok. Unfortunately unpleasant staff member rolled her eyes when I asked for a sleeve for my takeaway cup. ( I genuinely thought that was standard) with a hot drink! You could tell she didnt wanna be there and it showed in how she treats customers. The whole service wasn't pleasant. More training in customer skills needed. Visited on the 11th sep

Service can be very slow, even when not too busy. Cakes and drinks are great though

After looking forward to a good coffee we were very disappointed with the flat white and oatmilk pistachio lattee that were made. I took a photo. Both were very flat like a regular coffee no heads on either. Poor given the price.

Coffee OK....used to be a lot stronger...no GF unless you like the usual pre wrapped offerings....

Had a Cappuccino with an extra shot, tasted like dish water, changed it for another one and guess what it was the same. Used to be my favourite coffee, not any more. The place was filthy, tables needed clearing, but worse of all behind the counter where the coffee machine was it was absolutely minging, dirty bits and pieces all over the place, coffee grouts everywhere, I've honestly never seen such a filthy coffee shop, what on earth is going on? If the Manager reads this, you need to get your finger out, as well as you're approach to cleanliness and good hygiene. To be honest I guess no staff read this, as there are plenty of other posts saying exactly the same thing. Staff a plenty, just not engaged or interested. Goodbye!

Not very helpful staff at all as left something on a table and phoned about 10 times and did not answer once , called back next day and it was like talking in a foreign language to the staff who just answered with the bare minimum response

2 staff behind counter were overwhelmed with customers. As for the member of staff who was clearing tables I think he was more interested in patting a dog than doing his job. Customers had to clear their own tables which were becoming overwhelmed with dirty items. As for the state of the tables and floor I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. Visit was Sunday 30th of July 2023

After visiting yesterday I really think the chairs ect could do with a proper clean. All think with dust and crumbs. I dropped something down the side of my chair. And the seat was so sticky to lift.

Clean, decent coffee served well

What a dump!! The two staff they had in were nice, but not very fast. But the restaurant itself was disgusting!! We had to clear our own table to get a seat inside. And we where not the only ones. No tables being wiped or dirty cups and plates being removed. If I were you, I'd nip up to Costa, immaculate. Wouldn't attempt to go in if you use a wheelchair. Not room to maneuver.

Lovely easy chairs, food, coffee, etc..such a shame the queue was out the door and had a long wait to be served although staff were working as fast as the machines would let them...could do with more vegan options thank you

Good coffee, but the service was incredibly slow. The 3 staff behind the bar moved so slowly that many people gave up queuing and walked out. It was painful to watch. The outside seating area was filthy and hadn't been swept and cleaned that morning. HORRIBLE! Cafe Nero, please up your game!

This Nero has a great atmosphere with comfy seating and a lot of space. It's a perfect spot to relax or work, with plenty of power sockets available to keep your laptop/device charged. The staff are always friendly and I've never had a bad experience here!

Served by a lovely young lady, super polite, charming etc. Muffin was fine. Iced coffee was fine. But man oh man....the place was absolutely filthy. Grime on top of grime behind the counter and the floor of the main restaurant area was covered in crumbs, dust and general untidyness. Given it was 11am on a Sunday this must have been from the previous day. Great location, great staff....just sort out the hygiene guys!

I don't often use CN and now I remember why. A very slow queue, looked like low on staff. Coffee was OK, but not my favourite.

Nothing special, all these coffee companies are the same, not enough staff not very clean.

Just pay 1 extra person so we don't have to queue for 20 minutes whilst the 2 staff are having to serve masses of people and orders coming through for delivery. So many people walking off the back of the queue they could have taken way more than the cost of the extra staff member

Been using this place for years. Pretty much what you expect from a big chain. Consistent in every respect with no dramas. Don't be put off by queues as the volumes ebb and flow and you can usually get a seat. One tip, not just related to CN, if you ask for a hot chocolate, tell them you want it very hot or super hot otherwise it'll be luke warm. Probably due to them being scared of someone suing them if they spill it and get burnt! Can recommend cheese and tomato panini with pesto. Bon appetit.

Very short staffed. Trays of dirty cups on numerous tables. Floor had a wet patch which a customer kindly told the lady behind the till. Someone could have easily slipped. Cleanliness not good... Cake was yummy....

Food is a bit mediocre and dry, but otherwise the experience was adequate.

Sorry to have to post this, but the two baristas serving on Monday 16th January at lunch time, need to concentrate more on serving and less time on chatting, as it took over 10 minutes to be served two takeaway coffees and they got the order wrong. Didn't want to spend another 10 minutes correcting the order, as I had to get back to work.

Good location and a good range of seating. Unfortunately many of the unused tables had dirty dishes left on them and the floors had clearly not been swept in some time as there was an accumulation of mouldy crumbs in the corners. However coffee was good.

Cafe Nero is a lovely coffee shop with plenty of seating inside and out and allows dogs to come in as well. The selection of food and drinks available is very good and even has vegan options available. Parking is in Whiteley car park and is only a minute walk to Cafe Nero. The service from the members of staff was very good but I feel that due to the amount of people in and out of the coffee shops they need additional members of staff which I believe will help with the long waits which I had experienced.

A nice atmosphere and comfy interior. Coffee is hit and miss depending on who makes it. I like an oat milk cappuccino but often it's way too hot with little flavour (oat milk need a lower temperature than dairy). A few more healthier snacks would be welcome.

Needed a hot drink and something to eat, after a chilly afternoon shopping. Decided to try Caffè Nero for the first time. The place was clean and tidy, though whether the torn leather seat cover is part of the design, I felt that its condition made it unhygienic. It was also nice to see that it is a dog friendly outlet. I was served by a very friendly polite young lady who dealt with my order swiftly. Mum and I ordered LG hot chocolates, a slice of Belgium Chocolate Fudge cake and a slice of Black Forest cake. Our drinks were hot and very tasty but my cake, the Black Forest, though very tasty was quite dry, this was probably due to how it is stored. Despite this, my opinion for our first visit is a positive one. The only negative for me was that though they have customer toilets they could not be used.

Dropped in for early morning caramel Latte with cream my go for order with Starbucks. Tbh it wasnt great and just tasted like a coffee I had made at home, didn't g units ah drinking it but I must say the dugar free greek yogurt and muesli was very good. So in rankings 1.Starbucks 2.Costa 3. Make your own

Located in a pedestrianised area this cafe is not too far from the main carpark for the area. No steps to get in mean it should be good for buggies and wheelchairs alike. Inside is spacious with a mixture of tables and chairs and more comfy seating. Usual Cafe Nero selections are available, one of my favourites is their Cappuccino cake! Staff were friendly and efficient, cafe was clean and welcoming. Enjoyed a lovely coffee and cake, the bonus for me is that dogs are allowed in unlike Costa coffee where they aren’t. I’m always with my dog. Based on this experience I’d be happy to recommend and will be visiting again.

Coffee ok. Crumbs on tables and stains on chairs, plants full of cobwebs and thick with dust. I watered them but wanted to rescue them. This was at opening time. Terrible really.

One of the hubs of the shopping centre -- people can always be found chilling here. The food is great as well -- well-known for its desserts!

The staff are always extremely patient, helpful, and friendly, they’re a real credit to cafe Nero. I visit on a weekly basis, and they’re always fantastic. By far the best customer serviced I’ve ever received in a coffee shop. 10/10
