This was a pub that we have been going to since 1973 but will NOT be again!!We are a bunch of friends(7) that meet up to have a Sunday roast and a chat and catch up. My wife booked the table 16 days before and when we got there we had been place in a very drafty place where all the comings and goings were and it was very cold and windy! We found another table but were not allowed to change as it was where the bar Manger had placed us. The food was less than we were led to believe ! cold food for a Roast Sunday Lunch is not on anybodies list of things to do for a fun Sunday. The veg were pre- cooked and warmed up and placed on the side of the plate.Roast potatoes were tasteless Beef tough and pork very very fatty!

Pleasant place for lunch with an upmarket gift shop and area selling plants. Friendly staff and unremarkable food. Unfortunately the last couple of times I've been, the prices charged in the shop were higher than those Indicated on the products. I emailed the Long Barn, but no reply. Won't be returning.

What a fantastic experience! Visited this pub on a sunny day in the middle of a hike. The food, vegetables too, were delicious and some declared the best they’d ever eaten!! Cheffing at its best. Try the sweet potatoes 😋. The staff were delightful, the interior modern and welcoming, the outdoor seating and gardens beautifully kept. Thank you folks, we will be back. Soon. 😊

Beautiful old pub set by the lake; very good quality, honest pub food; the most outstanding service from the waitresses - they are all remarkably friendly and attentive. Only negative was the loud radio in the garden but they did turn it down - so much nicer to hear the various birdlife there and the low chatter of friends on a warm bank holiday! We'll definitely be back it was a treat.

Having read favourable press about this place, I was looking forward to cod n chips. Pros, initial service quick, reasonable prices, good portions. However, chips were average and loads were stuck to the paper. Cod was well cooked but the batter nothing special. Sadly in my opinion it doesnt compare to The Plaice in Harestock or Shoal in the City Centre.

Absolutely 5 star service by the lovely chap working today. The only reason I’ve scored 4 stars is there was no veggie main option on the kids menu. Veggie nuggets stored in the freezer surely would be a quick and easy fix? Well maintained kids play area. Food was good quality.

Asked for a cup of tea. Presented with a mug of water and a diffuser. No milk - had to ask for it. No sugar - had to ask for it. No spoon - had to ask for it. Disappointing. See no reason to return any time soon.

Delicious salads and savoury bakes here! We also enjoyed really good coffee and a proper sized tea pot with loose leaf tea. The pastries are top quality, all properly hand made by bakers. They’re very good! Order at the counter & then our food was brought to the table very quickly. Staff were polite and friendly.

I love this place. Nice people, great range of produce. Dry goods, and fresh produce, an excellent deli. Good atmosphere and charming. Polite too.

An almost authentic step-back in time to 1960's station buffets right down to over-priced awful coffee. The only thing missing is the fog of tobacco smoke! If you want to relive your youth, or see what you parents endured, this is a must. The building and decor are almost all vintage or antique, and you can look out on the steam trains.
