Another visit and yet again nothing to complain about. You have to accept that the restaurant is compact and tables are close together but that does encourage some interaction with other dinners. I note some negative reviews and quite frankly can't believe them. Service is friendly and prompt. Food is hot, tasty and well presented. This visit had the Calzone which was light and filled with spicey meats and sausage. Made the mistake of having a starter so no room for dessert. Will be visiting again.

We’ve been here a couple of times and both times the service was appalling. We waited over a hour to get our meal both times. My meal was hot and tasty, however one of the meals wasn’t as described and the steak was gristley, making it inedible. I don’t think I’ll be booking a third visit.

Fabulous Italian Cuisine. Fabulous Menu & Spoiled for Choice. My first visit here with a friend over from Australia… What an amazing find. Upstairs was buzzing and full by 7pm Tuesday evening. Lovely staff and well over a dozen wonderful things on the menu that I wanted to order. The food was lovely and an incredible good value and remarkable Bang for the Buck. The Lamb Shanks are divine and I can’t wait to return soon. You could eat here several times a week and keep finding exciting new dishes Marvellous Italian Restaurant

Dropped in early evening. As previous visit staff were more than welcoming, efficient friendly service. Food was hot fresh and well prepared, I cannot understand the negative reviews. Very authentic tasty Italian food from a family business.

Upmarket food in a casual, warm and friendly environment. I was pleasantly surprised. The lamb shank was enormous, and literally fell from the bone when I touched it. For those who want to show off, the wine list includes vintage Dom Perignon at £400 a bottle. While the beer is a very reasonable £5 a bottle. The restaurant has two floors. A small lower seating area and an upstairs.

Pasta microwaved and very poor indeed. Pizza pretty good. Service and atmosphere are mediocre. Not bad value. Best used as a takeaway for pizza only.

The food was obviously microwaved and the risotto was tasteless and watery. Service was not good and seating meant it was very cramped.

Visited January 2024 - bang average food, could cook better myself at home. Food looked unappetising, nothing authentically Italian about it at all. Disappointing

Unfortunately we didn’t get to sample food although the menu was very enticing. The web site states variously that La Piccola is open from 1200 to 2300 every day, from 1200 to 1500 Monday to Saturday and enables a table to be booked for 1415 on a Thursday. In reality on arrival at 1405 it actually closes at 1430! So a wasted journey. They need to get their act together!

We had a lovely time visiting for a birthday family dinner. Hannah our server was very attentive and looked after us well. We had starters and mains, pizzas you definitely get more for your money in comparison to the pasta dishes we had, which were a bit smaller than we expected but food was delicious. We are already planning on coming back again!

Went for a special anniversary meal and had high hopes for this restaurant having read the reviews. Frosty reception from the waiter downstairs. My husband had emailed and phoned ahead to ask for a nice table - were shown a table downstairs near the door that was cold - really bright lighting. After some debate, they agreed we could move to a different table upstairs. Service incredibly slow - took 1 hour to get a starter - had to ask for menus and cutlery! Staff non-communicative when asked how much longer it would be. Starters really poor - calamari consisted of 5 tiny overcooked pieces with a giant pot of mayo. Gamberetti was a few prawns served in what looked like tomato soup. Mains of steak and sea bass were really underwhelming - was expecting authentic Italian food but was akin to what I could could cook at home. Left without a dessert as didn’t want to waste any more money. Baffled by the reviews - it was very mediocre.

We booked Sunday lunch with my sister and brother in law, we wanted to try the Chestnut Horse with the intention to book for Christmas. The starters were lovely but not to be said for the main course, my sister and I had the roast beef, the beef was cut thickly and the whole plate full was verging on cold, my sister order extra cauliflower cheese which arrived towards the end of her meal. We ordered puddings, my sisters came first, ice cream, and ours arrived half an hour later and was not fully as we ordered. The staff were very pleasant and apologetic. Such a shame for a lovely country pub.

I just can’t see how their prices are sustainable. Charging over £4 for a flat white with oat milk is outrageous, so I won’t be returning.

Went in this morning for toast and coffee. The toast was bearly warm let alone toasted, one side was still totally uncooked. We asked for marmite with IT, and was given marmalade, when I said we wanted marmite I was told we don't have any! We only got 1 small pack of butter per slice which hardly covered half of it. The coffee was the worst coffee we have ever had in any costa we have visited. It all looked really unclean and dirty. The staff member who served us was rude, I think she thought she we doing us a favour. RUBBISH BREAKFAST AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL, IN A DIRTY ENVIRONMENT.

Goodbye to the worst Italian restaurant I have ever visited. Two years ago it was a great venue. Two weeks ago it was a disaster. A waitress was spraying chemicals everywhere while I was eating. Before I had finished my main course a waiter started sweeping beneath my table. He then told me that if I wanted a dessert I was too late because they were closing. When I entered the restaurant my greeting was : 'We close at nine, so you need to get a move on'. Other diners were receiving the same treatment, and in 20 years of eating out I have never witnessed such unprofessional behaviour from staff. Today it closed permanently, and good riddance to it.
