The best restaurants in Wealden South East

We use this Fish and Chip shop about once a month, the staff are very friendly and the food is always excellent. We phone our order through in advance, it’s always ready to collect when I get there. It can be extremely busy in the summer so be prepared to wait, it is worth it.

Tried the Hay Waggon, which is under new ownership. Great barbecue with seafood kebabs and amazing local rump steak. Homemade ice creams are to die for. All served up in a wonderful garden

Food was ok when it eventually came. ordered at 5:50pm when it had not arrived by 8pm, we called to be told they were running behind. Eventually food arrived at 8:40pm, driver got rude and aggressive when I suggested taking £5 from the bill due the time of delivery. Ruined our evening to be honest...

Walked in. The first thing I saw was the man behind the counter. He was filthy. Should have walked out there and then. I ordered the roast, and my friend ordered sausages and chips. My roast was disgusting, reprocessesed pork, undercooked Yorkshire puddings, gravy like dish water. Nothing was fresh, and it all tasted rank. My friends' sausages were the cheapest and as low quality you could find, which is misleading when you call your establishment the butchers hook. All round disaster.

Amzing place food is lovely and the people are so kind I usually have the burger and chips and it is always lovely. Hot chocolates are so good and they are really generous with toppings

Gourmet burger! More like fair ground burger! For £9 I was expecting far better than a microwave burger Very disapointing

This relates to the deli.. lovely atmosphere some great products on sale but the meat was heavily over priced and not too fresh... I would recommend visiting a local farm shop over this but the macaroons are delicious and service friendly and good.

Ordered by phone a takeaway to pick up. We were doing 2 seperate orders and lady on the phone was very friendly and efficient. There was a 5% reduction for picking food up. The food was hot and smelt good. Rice, chips, breads and onion bhajees were good. Pathia curries lacked flavour but chicken was tender. Complimentary poppadams and onion salad was a nice touch.

The Coffee Barn is our favourite place in Uckfield. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, there's fantastic outdoor seating and it's very reasonable. We always come for the milkshakes which are delicious, good range of flavours and the children love it.

Clean, lots of table space, great food at good prices. First class table service, the staff have a friendly welcoming attitude all ways helpful. Pleasant atmosphere and comfortable. My Wife and I have tried all the eating places in Uckfield and find Luxford restaurant the best.

I have tried their food on quite a few occasions now,and every time I was very pleased with the vegan dishes I had. Quality is consistent,the service friendly. I have recommended this place to other friends too, and they all loved the food as well. I particularly like the variety of vegan dishes on offer.

I can't begin to think when Sherry's Café was established. However it was taken over by Butchetr's Hook in 2018 (me think). Hence Sherry's Café is no more. RIP

The Lamb was fatty and tough also luke warm. Roast Potatoes had microwave taste and cold . We reported the above to the waitress but no management came to see us. As it was a family celebration did not want to create a scene. Overall very poor family experience.

Had a wonderful lunch here last Tuesday. It was super busy but the staff were charming and very efficient and made us and our dog feel very welcome. We chose the butternut soup which was very hot and spicy! Definitely the best I have ever tasted! The menu is extensive so I will make sure to go again soon to try something else or even treat myself to their afternoon teas which I have heard are delicious.

We have visited this cafe often but they have reduced the size of the cake, put the prices up and charge service charge even on outside coffee and cake. £17 almost for two small cakes and two coffees. Rip-off
