The best restaurants in Wealden South East

This was a Quiz Night, held on behalf of the Waldron Cricket Club. It was a completely fabulous evening - the whole place was buzzing. Simon and Nicole have transformed The Star, and made it a truly top-class pub. As well as quiz nights, they have a range of other events, including music performances, barbecues etc. The staff are friendly and flexible, looking after the punters. I can't praise The Star too highly! Go out of your way to visit.

Lovely setting , beautiful pub , great service , fabulous food and wine, will definitely return and highly recommend, outdoor seating , bar and restaurant area , we sat in the bar but would have been happy anywhere as the sun was shining . I had the sharing fish platter as my meal and the fish was a plenty and the quality of all the fish was superb , hubby had scampi and chips and demolished it . The Provence rosé was a delight to drink . Thank you to all the team .

Ate dinner in here after a long walk from Eastbourne in the day. There was a big party in the main area so we sat in the room with the bar, food was tasty, good portion and reasonably priced. The picture is the steak, ale and mushroom!

First time visiting this morning for breakfast. Breakfast reasonably priced, ok portions, disappointed only one vegetarian option for breakfast as Alot of people are veggie or vegan nowadays, so if you're veggie very limited. Drinks and chips on the other hand are very overpriced! £5 for a small bowl of chips only enough for one person I think this is extortionate. I work in a venue that also serves food and drinks and this is Alot for chips especially the amount you get, a latte is £3.50 a mug of tea £2.80 which I also think is overpriced, in the same price range as Costa and Starbucks. The menus on Google are old, the prices are incorrect. Was a lovely setting as sun was shining.

Local newspaper reports that the premises are in liquidation as of 17 January and an ansaphone message refers callers to the liquidators.

This Sussex pub is Dog friendly. I didn't take a dog but love them! I booked 2 nights here for my friend's mum's funeral. There isn't anywhere I would rather have been than staying here at this friendly pub where I was looked after well. The manager's name is Ben and even when he gives you his undivided attention, you can see that he is aware of all that is going on around him in his pub. The bedroom I stayed in was beautiful and normally when I'm away from home I can't wait to get back to my own bed. However, after my stay here I have learnt that their mattresses are much better than mine. I'm going to contact Ben to find out which one to buy to replace mine!! Highly recommend this pub to visit to sleep over in.

Always great food from this restaurant

Very nice selection of cakes and sandwiches,scones were a bit small but fresh Plenty of tea and coffee and more if we wanted it. Staff were very friendly and attentive Bit of a lack of communication with tje booking, manager said he would sort it out when we arrived It ended as there were six people in the party had to pay for another two so t made it expensive expensive I would go again though as it would have beeb gone value at £19 for two people

The best sandwich shop in the world, the food tastes great and the people there are friendly. My fav, go there soon. 5 stars

The service tonight was terrible Poured our own wine which was not chilled when it arrived at the table with apologies from the wine waiter Had to ask for water Struggled to get attention of the staff despite only two tables being served All in all a poor service and reluctantly paid a 50 pound tip inc in the bill Should do better Food was ok and he or she deserved a tip Important family time and not the right time to complain on the night !!!!

Stayed in lewes for the weekend called for lunch Lovely scampi went back next day beautiful lasagne and Excellent roast dinner superb boozer

Excellent Chinese takeaway, freshly cooked hot food always tasty and excellent service. Best Chinese in the area by far.

Tablehurst is a heart-achingly beautiful biodynamic and organic farm with rolling hills, a quirky farm shop and a charming café garden. Most of the produce sold in the shop comes from the farm itself - no food miles!!! The food prepared on site is delicious and the coffee just divine! One of the best-kept secrets of East Sussex, in the heart of the leafy village of Forest Row, Tablehurst is a true gem of a farm, worth visiting.

A bit of a hidden gem this, met some colleagues here before an event and would never have known it existed! Great setting with a nice outdoor area, friendly staff and a good quality, reasonably priced breakfast - what more do you need?

Tried the Hay Waggon, which is under new ownership. Great barbecue with seafood kebabs and amazing local rump steak. Homemade ice creams are to die for. All served up in a wonderful garden
