Tablehurst is a heart-achingly beautiful biodynamic and organic farm with rolling hills, a quirky farm shop and a charming café garden. Most of the produce sold in the shop comes from the farm itself - no food miles!!! The food prepared on site is delicious and the coffee just divine! One of the best-kept secrets of East Sussex, in the heart of the leafy village of Forest Row, Tablehurst is a true gem of a farm, worth visiting.

Stopped off at the outside Cafe here recently on a weekday afternoon. It wasn’t busy and there were two girls serving so staffing wasn’t an issue. Having placed my order I asked the server if she could please give our table a wipe over as to say it was grubby would be an understatement. She asked me which table we were using so she clearly heard my request. No other customers were waiting to to be served. Several minutes later she hadn’t come to wipe the table but appeared with the food and beverages ordered. With nowhere else to put them down rather than make an issue of it we just decided to use the cups and plates from the tray but it was irritating that she couldn’t be bothered to fulfil our simple request. Having put the tray down she went back to the counter to chat with the other server so was in no way pushed for time. I almost got the impression that with this farm being seen as “Eco” and therefore arguably trendy they didn’t feel that they need to go to the trouble of serving customers the way they wish to be served. With an attitude like this it’s very likely that I won’t be the only customer who will have been put off from visiting again of course. Although with its fairly steep prices this cafe will probably make reasonable money from a modest footfall imagine how much better it would do with a more professional approach.

Having never visited before decided to drive down the lane and eventually through the shop buildings to the far car park. Chose some hot drink and investigated the shop which had a brilliant range of organic fruit and veg plus other typical shop items. Also discovered they have 4 bikes for rent which would be good for doing the old railway path. £5 for first hour then basically a fiver each hour all arranged by using the company's APP. Crafty. We will return when wanting a cycle ride for sure. A nice place to visit.

We were extremely disappointed today. We have been cycling to the farm shop and cafe for many years. We accept we are coming out of lockdown and therefore we would need to be patient for drinks and food. However, the poor young girls working behind the ‘cafe bar set up’ were woefully under staffed and inexperienced which led to inordinately long waits. No savoury food was being served so we had to queue up at the shop separately for a sausage roll... which was another 20mins. We used to get a large sausage roll, heated that represented good value because of the quality. Today we paid £2.20 for what was more like a cocktail sausage in pastry! A small slice of lemon cake was £3.50!! The coffee was served with a dirty milk jug that had what can only be described as a piece of leak in the bottom and residue from a previous serving. Just not good enough for the high prices. Many people there today were dissatisfied. Sorry guys, you have really starting to let your customers down and there really is no excuse other than greedy over charging. I so want this to change so I can write a positive review because there are so many positive aspects about the farm.

Very happy with the produce. The price are reasonable. Remembering that organic food is far more nutritious and satisfying since it does not have artificial additive and other crap in it which causes you to need more to actually satisfy you and there is no need to have bulk of it to actually provide the nourishment you need. Somethings I would not buy due to cost as a personal choice but most things are perfectly reasonably priced. IF there was a way to make it cheaper I am sure they would do their best to pass it on. Great for walks of all ages too I think locals are fortunate ot have this farm in our community..

We came here from riding our bikes along the Forest Row. Blindly following google maps meant it took us into Forest Row and back round again but if you turn right instead of turning left into Forest Row, the path will lead you directly to the farm. Would be good if the farm stuck a sign up on the fence to direct those who wanted to come to the farm. It was a hot sunny day and there were no more tables in the shade but the staff were really friendly and let us set up a picnic blanket in the shade, next to the outside cafe. My boys (6 and 8) were so hungry after their ride - we ordered 3 x ice creams, 2 x fizzy drinks, 1 x sausage roll, 2 x cakes, and 1 x latte. Came to £23 which I thought was reasonable for the amount of food and drinks we ordered. We also went to the farm shop. My son loved picking out the vegetables but we couldn't carry very much as we were on our bikes otherwise we would have bought more. All in all I thought it was a really lovely place to visit. We also stopped along the way back on Forest Row to look at the cows and their calves. Toilets are also open and sufficient.

We been coming to Tablehurst for a while now, it used to be lovely. The shop manager is passive aggressive and totally uninterested in providing a decent service. It's like customers are an inconvenience to her, there is just no customer service here at all from anyone anymore. The shop is a mess, looks dirty as well with no organisation at all. The layout doesn't flow. There is no care here. What has happened? Too much competition to return here.

Nice farm shop, expensive though so not really 'community' as they claim as price wise it would put a lot off from shopping there. Continually told 'organic' to everything as if that justifies pricing. Cafe is TINY, just 3 indoor tables (very cramped so be prepared to sit with someone else...) else it's eat outdoors. In February this isn't such a pleasant experience, and if you are the type to enjoy lunch slightly later, 1.30-ish we arrived we asked about sandwiches and was told what was left was one bacon sandwich - organic of course - but between a few of us one bacon sandwich was not going to suit so clearly get here early if you want a choice of sandwiches/options. We left and went to a lovely regular cafe in the town centre instead. Shame really, was looking forward to salad/sandwich type lunch, a walk around the farm....wouldn't recommend and not sure I see what the fuss is about this place to be honest.

Visited here recently and cant believe how things have been tweaked for the better both for the farm and the community. You can now browse in the farm shop and find all the ingredients needed for many meals and not at an over inflated price for biodynamic/organic produce. The staff are happy and it shows when they chat to you and answer any questions. Looking forward to visiting again soon. Cafe is lovely, especially the new wood fire heated seating.

Tablehurst is a fantastic farm shop - no doubts or arguments. But it can no longer claim to serve the local community. Only the well off can afford these prices and while shopping there may have been a little luxury for quite a few people it is now completely over the top. New shop management seem to be more interested in being a trendy gourmet destination for green yuppies. Was stunned when the shop manager asked me to vote for the store in the Sussex food shop of the year, saying ‘you can vote repeatedly if you do so from different devices’ surely not the ethos the trust espouses.

We both ate the farmers breakfast, which is essentially a cooked breakfast with farm eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, tomato and homemade baked beans and bread. I never knew a cooked breakfast could taste so good! The homemade baked beans are the best I’ve ever tasted, the sausages, bacon and mushrooms were full of flavour and perfectly seasoned. Friendly service.

I’ve been to this place a few times now, when flying to and from Gatwick Airport. I’ve always been impressed by the staffs politeness and courtesy, going that extra mile. They are very dog friendly with treats at the bar, and water bowls provided. There has been a hansom, well behaved, and affectionate Australian kelpie dog there on a few of my visits. The rooms are reasonably priced have been consistently clean, tidy and comfortable during my stay. I would not hesitate to recommend The Plough Inn to any other traveller or patron.
