Nice pub and good roast dinner, service was good. Stayed overnight, nice cosy room although lots of pipe noise from bathrooms and what sounded like a industrial fan from the kitchen. Comfortable bed and lots of little extras in the room. They do supply ear plugs which helped with the noise overnight.

Very friendly staff, nice and cosy pub, especially when the fireplace is on. I've only tried deserts because we didn't have much time there and we're not hungry. They were amazing the first time round, the second time not really to our taste, but still good.

Finished mains and asked about to desserts, only to be told chef was in a meeting from 1500 till 1600,so no dessert possible, just coffee! Poor. Ought to have mentioned that earlier. A very mixed experience with this pub. The food was incredible and the aesthetics of the pub were fantastic however the crowd seemed to be abit off. guys doing cocaine openly in the men’s toilets and people being abusive to eachother and some backhanded racism given towards my Spanish wife. Not things you would expect from “nice” country / village pub. The GM needs to pull his finger out and have more control over such things for public safety and customer enjoyment. Other than that the food was outstanding along with the prices and the pub has great potential.

My son worked at The Swan 2023/2024. He worked Christmas day for 10 hours and then was given 2 shifts in Jan 2024. He was on a zero hours contract. During 2023 some weeks he worked up to 30 hours. Since he has left we approached this company on 4 occasions for him to get paid his holiday pay and each time got a wall of silence. This includes from head office. Not a good company. Well especially for the young adults who are just starting to learn what employment is like and the rules of employment. Still haven't heard from genr manager of Savio in the Kitchen (nice chap - my sons lines manager) to sort his owed holiday pay. That was 4 months ago. AND i have driven to the pub to politely ask if someone could have a quick chat about it - obvs nobody was available but they did say they would call.....4 weeks ago! At least you got the 10 hours out of him for Christmas day!

Showed to a suite down the side of the biulding next to the Tesco petrol garage under the noisy greasy kitchen extractor fan after having a Sunday roast in the pubs eating area (the roast was nice actually so I rate the grub) but I had an allergic reaction to the accommodation after an hour so, so didn't stay the night and went and found another hotel. Did send an email requesting a refund but never heard back from staff.

4.2/5 for this place is actually quite underrated I’d say, should average at least 4.5. Excellent set of dishes with really imaginative combinations of ingredients yet nothing pretentious or abstruse and not from an overwhelmingly long list to choose from, and not too large helpings, just right after a three-hour walk in fine summer weather from Turners Hill. My courses summed up nicely the level of culinary imagination - starter was treacle cured salmon with a refreshing dressing with sliced onion, kind of a lighter version of gravlax. Then the main course was a roasted duck breast and orange salad with various other things, including “soft boiled egg” - really medium boiled and not out of a shell, but certainly not the worse for that. The duck was tender and lean with a really good flavour. I finished with a white chocolate (+ something else?) crème brûlée with candied pistachios and thyme shortbread. Only one star knocked off for service due to them not having passion fruit martini, but the drink I had in its place (a combination of apple and lemonade) was a worthy and very refreshing replacement, and the self-service fruit flavoured water was a nice touch. Lovely as well to enjoy this outside, with a view of the church and typically hilly high street. Shall definitely be returning - only regret is it might not be for many months, as this visit was at the end of the first part of a self-devised trail exploring the 70-mile long Medway from source to sea. Hopefully this place can retain its excellent standards until then…

Reasonable carpark which is a plus for this area. Good Size room. Small details count… it’s a room designed for 2 people so why supply only 1 breakfast tea teabag🤷🏻‍♂️. And only 1 chair 🙄 staff are friendly and attentive. Although it felt like they could have done with a couple more people on duty. Bed feels comfortable, reasonably firm mattress. Only a few steps to the rooms from the ground floor. WiFi seems reliable. The Sunday roast was enjoyable , the beef was cooked nicely and was tender. Deserts were flavoursome , again small details spoons uncomfortably large for size of ramekin…… The Swan is situated conveniently to shops, a few restaurants and takeaways. The swan has a good size beer garden with plenty of tables. Breakfast service starts around8:00am which was a little late for me . An on the go offering would be nice as I needed to leave prior to the 8:00am service.

This was the place to go and previously 5 star but been back twice now and shocking. We arrived tables not been wiped, we were sat down and given menus. We first order 3 coke zeros but the lady looked at us as if we ordered a non existent drink. We placed order of 2 starters and 3 mains. As a food house starters should come out first. We weren't asked if all together or separate. The mains came out first and still no starters. 4 people working all standing behind bar, pub very empty. We had to go up and get our own cutlery. As our mains came first we cancelled starters. We had 3 fish and chips, the fish was amazing, the mushy peas was cold, the curry sauce was cold and the triple cooked chips were like bullets. The service standard has massively dropped and unfortunately will not be returning. No atmosphere in the pub really, must have known a Saturday afternoon and no one there. This must have changed hands or management since Christmas last year.

I stayed here a few weeks again for business, and I must say I was very disappointed. The room was terrible, the bathroom was flooded, and the old sash windows wouldn't shut, which meant for a very bad night's sleep with the young loud crowd that occupied the smoking area below my room. The food looked and sounded great on the menu but when it arrived, it was a huge disappointment. It was trying to be something it wasn't, the bar staff were good and listened to my concerns, but a verbal sorry just couldn't fix the bad night's sleep and poor food. I wouldn't return.

Room had a tv in which hung from a frame - and it was dangerous! It was easy to hit your head on the underside of the tv. Comfy bed but terrible other furniture. Breakfast was cooked well but no cold items were available. Some dinner items were fine, but many were very poor - terrible roast pork dinner! Staff were helpful but the place appears to be run in utter chaos. I will not be returning.

Me and my partner decided to try a local pub and food, when we arrived there wasn’t much of an atmosphere (music was a little loud, instead of being background music), the manager (maybe landlady)on shift was very unwelcoming and got my drink order wrong as she didn’t listen, we decided to order two starters and two mains, starter 1 - baked Camembert to share (as stated on the menu) and starter 2 - deep fried mozzarella, main 1 - double cheeseburger and main 2 - pulled pork burger. The Camembert was realistically only for one person it was the size of a hockey puck (not even joking, but apparently they are for the price) The deep fried mozzarella is just inedible it was cold in the middle and was like they just took it out the packet, breadcrumbed it then put in the fryer, it was under cooked to the point I would of rather had it room temperature over a salad. The double cheeseburger was inedible, the bun was very soggy, like it’s been defrosted in a microwave and the beef patties where very tough to the point I didn’t even eat it at all (weatherspoons do a much better burger) The pulled pork burger was exactly the same as the cheeseburger. I spoke to the manager (landlady maybe) and told her but all I got back was I’ll let the chef know, I didn’t even get an apology at all, when I came to pay the bill she expected me to pay for the full amount, no discount was offered, I have to ask another staff member to get her back over and I explained that I was not paying for the full bill as it was inedible so she removed the two starters, then asked aggressively if I’m paying cash or card, once I payed I still didn’t get an apology for the food/ service or even a thank you for paying, not even a goodbye when we left. I would not recommend eating there ever and I will inform my friends not to as well. I hope the management can sort out her attitude as well as learn how the hospitality industry works (manners cost nothing as well as the food quantity need to be edible and also to do check backs on tables that have food to see if it’s all okay).

Probably the longest wait I have ever experienced in a restaurant. We had to leave before main course arrived (which they forgot twice). You pay upfront so noone cares. No one smiles. The manager is hard to reach. Food is average. Flower decoration has never transformed ordinary food in gourmet experience. The only + is a nice outdoor which is often reserved for private parties with loud music. Would not recommend a bit.

Room 'Junior Suite' next to the kitchen extractor fan blowing grease unavoidably into your face and hair whenever you leave or enter the room. Bathroom has no ventilation and only two small windows in the room, both which open up to a smell of grease, meaning the room smells overpoweringly of mildue. £180 a night with a discount. Food was bland, portions average, incredibly overpriced. £18.70 (including the obligatory 10% service for drinks that take 20 minutes to arrive and a plethora of confused looks) for a 'cajun' chicken burger and a handful of lukewarm shoestring fries. Band playing when we arrived, room poorly soundproofed. Least of our troubles. They were kind enough to keep our bags for an hour and a half while we went for a walk. When you take a closer look however there were lots of cobwebs on the ceiling and paint flaking off of the wall. Wow, I’m not sure if there is a new chef but something has happened, we’ve always enjoyed the food at the Swan but our Sunday lunch today was another level. Hubby and I had the roast beef, the meat was beautiful, still some pink parts of the meat, impressive Yorkshire pudding and the potatoes… and the veggies, the gravy, all were utter perfection and we were wowed! To be honest, I was tempted to stop there as it was so good but we decided to share a dark chocolate and caramel mousse. Well I don’t know what to say other than it was insanely good, I expect a dessert like that from a fancy tea room in a cafe in Paris, not in our very own Forest Row! Wow- that stunning dessert is going to stay in my mind for quite some time! All this and fantastic, friendly serving and bar staff. One of the best roasts I’ve ever had. There’s nothing to complain about here, I’d highly recommend. All food, starters, mains, desserts are amazing and the service is brilliant as well. The only issue is the small car park, but it helped me burn off some of the calories after dinner parking down the road! Definitely worth a visit, been excellent both times I’ve been recently.

We visited the Boar's Head Inn at Crowborough today (19/6/24) for a Wake following the funeral of a dear friend. We were absolutely amazed at the wonderful spread that was provided. Both hot and cold food. Well presented and attentive service. Excellent! We have visited for lunch meals on a couple of past occasions and have always been impressed by the variety and quality of the food. Thankyou.

Tried the Hay Waggon, which is under new ownership. Great barbecue with seafood kebabs and amazing local rump steak. Homemade ice creams are to die for. All served up in a wonderful garden

Took the kayak down the beach and has a lovely beer here. Garden has superb view of the sea. Had the feeling of a throwback social club without feeling old or tired. Outdoor area was a great place to sit. Can't give too much comment on the food as didn't eat but what was coming out looked good.

Went over for a birthday meal. The service was friendly and faultless, the Long Man Best Bitter was spot on, and the food was magnificent & very reasonably priced. Cannot recommend it highly enough. Fantastic.
