Yaw's Kitchen in Wealden

We got home to East Sussex after a marathon 565 mile across France today and didn’t fancy cooking even though we were starving. I decided to give Yaw’s Kitchen a try for the first time in five years. I’d heard someone on the radio talking about Chinese takeaways it left me with a craving! I have to say it was much improved and really very good. The lady on the phone was polite and efficient - she told me it would be ready in fifteen minutes and it was. It was fresh, piping hot and truly excellent. Keep up the great work. I’ll be back.

On holiday in the area, we fancied having someone else cook our dinner and found a leaflet for Yaw's in our cottage. We ventured into the shop and found it clean and welcoming. The food was delicious, good quality and seemed to be good value for the amount we received. Would recommend it if you are nearby.

The food is probably more authentic than most Chinese takeaways and flavour was good but overall it was too oily, the dim sum had bone in, the noodles taste ‘burnt’ and were very greasy, we spent £35 and didn’t get any prawn crackers.

Went to daughter and son in law for supper and ordered from Yaws, would NOT do it again. I cannot even describe the consistency of the sweet and sour sauce (jelly/gluop) the noodles tasted of nothing, the mains were not great either. Certainly not rushing back.

Orderered takeaway and was delighted to find that all would be ready in 20 minutes. Large order came with complementary prawn crackers, which had we known would not have ordered thai crackers. Plates were cleared, tasty grub at reasonable prices.

Ordered chicken dish which was made up of mostly potatoes, aubergines hardly any chicken, tasteless and runny Chicken satay dry and over cooked, hard and chewy, Total waste of money. Scoring one as rice was edible.

Another take out home delivery from Yaws Kitchen last night….. another excellent meal. Phone order was taken with confidence and very friendly too. Delivery arrived at the time arranged, and delivered with a smile. Usual order of Thai Green curries ~ chicken and king prawn. Packed full of flavour and full of fresh ingredients , including lemongrass and lime leafs. Singapore Style Special Vermicelli Noodles~ generous large portion , but so good always have two. The noodles are packed with lots of flavour, shrimp, pork, chicken and veg. These are absolutely delicious. Huge crunchy tasty prawn crackers. Thai Tom Yum Chicken Soup ~ recommended by my son, so first time trying and won’t be the last. Heated up for lunch the next day~ Yum Yum , Tom Yum! Great Thai flavours. Yaws Kitchen is by far the best Chinese and limited Thai/Malaysian locally. I tend to have their limited Thai dishes as that’s my preference but friend and family have raved too, about their amazing Chinese dishes.

Out of all the places I have been to for a Chinese in Heathfield this is by far the best one! The food is so lovely and cooked to perfection! We usually order a mixture of differnet dishes. But I really love the half aromatic duck with pancakes, cucumber and spring onions and hoisin sauce. The duck is always so tender and crispy just how we all like it, that way you can tell it’s cooked! The other dishes, egg fried rice, curries etc are always very good too. We wouldn’t look anywhere else to visit this is our favourite go to place. Would recommend 100%

I have had takeaways from here several times before and the quality has always been reasonable. But on this occasion the food was very poor. The peking dumplings were dry, overcooked and tasteless. Even the accompanying vinegar and ginger dip was bad. The Peking duck was just about ok. My Singaporean vermicelli was tired and lacking in flavour. The lemon chicken was ok but the udon noodle dish was almost inedible. It will be a long time before I return.

Delicious- loved it wish we lived closer to have it again. Had pad Thai curry, red Thai curry and chicken chow mein for the kids, enough for leftovers too 😜😋

As usual really nice comforting food. Had Thai red curry and feel happy as a Larry. Lovely big portion too. Happy days👍🏾

Been coming here for a while for takeaway thai and the food has always been good. however, they have made a lot of mistakes and we have continued to support especially during this current climate but they have gone too far, rude manager would not amend their mistake and when I suggested I would take my custom elsewhere. The manager said ok then - Bye. How Rude! while all is good fair enough but it is short sighted to treat local regular customers this way. Truly disappointed

Been coming here for a while for takeaway thai and the food has always been good. however, over the past few times we have had takeaway delivered the food has been delivered late and cold. The last time we ordered at 7:30 and food wasn't delivered until 9:55. Food was tasty but luke warm couldnt complain as they were closed. Should have ordered dominoes

After 3 1/2 months of home cooked food finally tried a takeaway. Ordering system back to normal and I paid by card when I collected.My order was ready when I got there.The food was well cooked and tasty, same good quality as the last time I had a takeaway from here. We really enjoyed everything.Will order from here again.

Dry, tasteless food with uncooked peppers. Four different dishes, only the noodles passed as acceptable. Never again.

Though obviously not possible at the moment, I believe that Chinese food is best eaten at the restaurant because freshness and straight from the pan is so important. But if you want a takeaway Chinese, and one that is more reasonably priced than most of the better quality restaurants that also do takeaways, I think Yaws is the best in the area. I think that their noodle dishes are particularly good. Pleasant and efficient service always helps.

We thought we would have a treat on Yaw's last day of trading for a while due to Covid 19.We ordered double portions to last 2 days. We've had take aways in the past from them and not been disappointed, however this time the dishes had so much MSG in them and were so salty. Because of this we both became dehydrated in the night and had to drink loads of water.It's such a shame as Chinese food doesn't need this level of added seasoning. Soy, black bean and hoi sin sauce can be enough flavouring. I hope when they reopen we don't have this level of saltiness again as we won't be returning.

Not very good at all I recently had yaws kitchen Chinese and was very disappointed the curry was one of the worst I've ever had extremely salty and chicken was fake looking (cubed) and very dry, and the rest of the food was tasteless and extremely salty and I'm someone who loves their salt, not to mention worse of all I have had severe diarrhea since this meal and having not eaten much else throughout the day other than this it's very suspicious so overall would not return and suggest people do the same. The only plus however is that the staff were very nice and polite.

One of the best take aways you could wish for. Polite service and great tasting food. Highly recommended.

I would be saying this was the best Chinese takeaway ever (tasty sauce, good rice, wide choice) apart from I chose a mixed vetable satay and the vegetables were virtually raw. I’m happy to eat veg like this but a lot of people aren’t. There was also a lot of celery and onion and few Chinese vegetables. And quite expensive for a takeaway (2 meals just under £20)

Good friendly service and food arrived quickly. I think there are better alternatives around but sadly not within a takeaway delivery range.

I had mushroom foo yung as part of my order but it was too oily to finish, the egg fried rice was ok as was the tofu Thai green curry that my daughter had. Polite service given and it was ready swiftly too.

This is very good food, and the vegetables always have the perfect degree of crunch. They usually deliver really quickly.

Such great people work here, always happy to help if you don't quite know what to have and explain the menu. We buy our chips from here when we have a pie because you can't beat a there chips!

Have had several deliveries over the last 18 months. They have been consistently good. Food is hot on arrival. Well prepared.

Have had delivered many times, always lovely and hot and within times given. Also picked up taken to Buxted and still hot. Potions sizes good and delicious

Have now switched to Yaw's kitchen as the food is probably the best in Heathfield. Non greasy, really tasty, delivered free, kept hot for travelling. Would recommend the beef in black bean, chow mein, sweet & sour chicken balls, spring rolls, actually everything I have had from here has been pretty amazing.

After hearing lots of good things about Yaw's Kitchen we decided to try it for our next Chinese takeaway and we were not disappointed at all! It's now our go to place for a Chinese - the staff are extremely polite (on the phone and in person), the food is well packaged and all reasonably priced especially for the quality of the food (the food is delicious). We highly recommend it!

I quite like this takeaway and use it from time to time. It’s a ingredients are fresh enough but the taste buds are left wanting too often. But I’ve had a lot worse.

Always receive great food, and the delivery is prompt never delayed. THe food is amazing would certainly recommend.

Plenty of choices, good food especially Thai and Malaysian dishes if you like spicy food. Dim sum very tasty and the customer service was superb. Maybe longer delivery service but worth waiting for good food.

Excellent take-away food. Cannot fault it. Piping hot and very well packaged. We will continue using them.

Lots of choice and very good quality - always order too much, but it's hard to resist and definitely can't do without the hors d'oeuvres.

This is a good take-away with plenty of choice for meat eaters and vegetarians. The pancake rolls are very good. We often buy a bit more and have the rest for lunch the following day. I don't know why it always seems to taste better next day?

Lovely chinese they deliver for a charge but very much worth it. Everything great especially is the veggie spring rolls.

Yaw's kitchen has a nicely varied menu, including Malay and Thai dishes and a great selection of Chinese dishes. Everything we have had has been fresh, well-flavoured and well cooked (nicely crunchy veg). Probably the best chinese takeaway I've encountered in decades. It's only a pity there's no eat-in option.

Never disappointed, from the usual Chinese dishes to the Thai and Dim Sum selection. Excellent and flavoursome food. Great desk service.

Aunque el servicio era bastante rápido, el producto final fue una decepción. Ninguno de los sabores de cada plato podría ser "integrado". Por ejemplo, el pollo estaba muy seco y obviamente pre-cocinados con la salsa añadido para permitir su climatizada y el anacardo sirvieron por separado en un recipiente. No impresionado

Esta es sólo para llevar. Mejor teléfono en su pedido y lo ve y recogerá, estarás listo prácticamente a tiempo. La única vez que he utilizado la entrega tenía una larga espera - supongo que sólo tenemos un cierto número de personas entrega disponible. El extenso menú y buena comida, en mi opinión el mejor Chino en Heathfield.

Recommended as a takeaway. Service is good and more importantly so is the food. Some if not all of it is freshly prepared and all of it is free of that "glutinous" taste of too many takeaways.

Pedimos llevar el sábado pasado. Nos dijeron que la comida sería una hora y media, ya que estaban muy ocupados. Después de esperar más de una hora y media llamamos para ver donde la entrega fue y me dijeron que no habría otros 15 minutos (la duración de tiempo que se tarda en llegar a la nuestra) y llegó después de dos horas. El conductor entrega pidió disculpas a ser justos y dijo que había sido un concurrido.

Todos los Miércoles tenemos un grupo pequeño de nosotros pedir una comida para llevar a casa y esta entrega ha sido una delicia. La comida era absolutamente magnífica y, aunque el precio es ligeramente más alto que el de otros para llevar local chino, este es de lejos el sabor excelente, calidad, y servicio fantástico de la señorita por teléfono. Altamente recomendado y sin duda volveré. Muchas gracias!

Evitar. . . . . Segundo tiempo. En un par de semanas frente a un retraso largo, 1 hora 45 minutos calle pasamos casi esperando y escuchando a los clientes de llamar una queja acerca de los retrasos en la entrega. Esta vez completamente orden equivocado, sin disculpas simplemente una oferta para esperar mientras nuestro ahora más de una hora es re comida casera enviado.

Cuando llamé nuestro pedido, nuestro teléfono no. debe de venir como si fueron conscientes de nuestra Dirección y datos de ubicación. Me pareció que era muy servicial. La señora nos dijo que sería media hora pero estaba bien dentro de este tiempo. Es la entrega gratuita de más de £25 y dentro de un radio de 3 millas, lo cual es genial.

Ordered and collected a tasty yet not as the menu stated duck dish. I did not order rice as the dish was described as semi-dry and so my expectation was duck and chopped selected vegetables in the dish COATED in sauce. The dish was swimming in sauce and not worth good money if you too expect to see a satisfactory portion of chopped duck amongst your chopped veg.

We now get take out from Yaws kitchen every Friday.They do fabulous Dim Sum and the rest of the menu isn't half bad either!The offer Chinese, Thai and other Asian food and they do each equally well.Owners are super-friendly and happy to talk to you and the Twins that work there are delightful and always have a smile for you when you arrive.Wouldn't go anywhere else for my Friday night takeaway!

Had a take-away on Saturday evening and was expecting a long wait but it was delivered in under half-hour.There is an extensive menu covering Chinese, Thai, and Malaysian. We had a vegetarian guest and he was amazed at the variety for vegetarians including dim sum and most of the dishes could be chosen with tofu.We thought the mixed hot hor d'oeuvres box was a bit overpriced at £7.80 for what we got although the prawn toast was thick with prawns.The noodle and main dishes were flavoursome with spices and not the usual bland Chinese take-away that is often the case. The Thai stir fried in Thai coconut sauce was spicy and very good.All in all very impressed and will definitely be going again. Free delivery over £25 within 3 miles of Heathfield as well.

I've used this take away many times and found them good. This time I went down to order my food. I was told it would be 20 mins. Fifty minutes later still no food. The owner didn't come out to apologise for the delay. The food when I got home was cold, the crispy duck was as dry as tinder, the dim sung has been much better. I won't be going back its time to a new place. But it's worth a try.

Use this regularly and it's one of the best takeaways I've ever used. Consistently good...fresh good quality beautifully cooked and always ready on time. This is not your usual British Chinese greasy, msg-ridden takeaway. Can't recommend enough. Friendly service too

Ordered chicken satay and Singapore noodles. The satay was nothing like the picture on the menu. Instead of marinated chicken grilled on a skewer it was a lump of reconstituted chicken deep fried in cooking oil.The Singapore noodles were long on oil and noodles but woefully short on veggies, prawns and meat.Used to go here about six years ago and now was good, must have changed ownership.

First time we have used Yaw's what a fab meal and first class service 100 times better than that so called curry restaurant around the corner we'll be back

The food is of a very high standard and tastes so fresh. Not greasy. Only let down is a poor delivery service so recommended you collect.

I've been to many Chinese restaurants and ordered take away from many more but I've found THE Chinese food I was looking for.The people behind this amazing place - Nia, Alan (brilliant chef) and all the staff - are tremendously friendly, helpful and patient. The food is of excellent quality and taste...there is loads to chose from and you know for sure you'll get very good portions for very affordable prices.It's no surprise I keep going back every week...for 2 years now! Definitely recommend to anyone who enjoys outstanding Chinese food!

We have had several take always from here and normally go for the set menu for 4. The aromatic Crispy duck is to die for, just so tasty. The portions are a good size. The food is both tasty and fresh.Good home delivery service

Having ordered from Yaws on a number of occasions we always find the food to be excellent and the service friendly and quick. There is a very varied menu and the prices are reasonable too. Thoroughly recommended.

Lovely chinese takeaway open late on Sundays in Heathfield. Really friendly staff, smart decor and good selection of food. Yaw's House Special noodle and shredded chili beef recommended. Reasonable price too.

Fantastic, family cooked Asian food, Chinese, Thai and Malay. using fresh ingredients and cooked to order, this means you will wait for your food; much better than pinged rubbish. The Dim Sum are to die for, we are working our way through the menu; to date all very good. Having waited over 2 hours for our meal to be delivered and lots of phone calls I cannot really comment on the food as by the time it came it was only warm not hotWe were offered a discount but didn't really help as we weren't hungry by then!!I definitely would not recommend

We always order from hear not had a bad meal yet. They can be a little slow with delivery we waited nearly 2 hours once and u was getting a but frustrated and staved but when it did arrive it was excellent so I didn't mind it was worth the wait. X

Fresh interesting Chinese and Thai food. Wonderful Thai Red Curry, that they are not afraid to make hot and spicy and great freshly prepared Dim Sum. Good service and a well cooked interesting menu. We eat here regularly and have always been pleased with the food.
