Clean, lots of table space, great food at good prices. First class table service, the staff have a friendly welcoming attitude all ways helpful. Pleasant atmosphere and comfortable. My Wife and I have tried all the eating places in Uckfield and find Luxford restaurant the best.

I’ve lived in the area for over eighteen years and must have walked past the restaurant hundreds of times, but I’ve never been in. This morning I thought I would give it a try. I’m not disappointed. The servers were excellent, polite, helpful and attentive without being a nuisance. I had the full English breakfast. There was a good amount of food, well prepared and presented. I generally base my breakfast reviews on the quality of the sausages. These were very nice, a good meat content and nicely seasoned. If I have one small criticism of the sausage it was their size, I don’t think I’ve ever had such a short sausage before 🤷🏼♂️ I really hate the sausages that have obviously come from the cheapest option at the cash and carry, the contents of which are usually an unrecognisable paste 🤢. I’m also not sure where the hash browns sit on a full English breakfast. Unless people had travelled to the US, no one had heard of them until McDonalds entered the UK. From my first visit, I would say that the majority of the clients are of a more mature nature, but don’t let that stop you from visiting. Overall a good experience and I will no doubt be returning again.

A regular favourite for lunch for the group that I organise. Service with a smile and a wide choice of dishes, including dish of the day, and all at very reasonable prices. We have also had our Christmas lunch there twice for 25 people - excellent food, service and price.

Satisfactory lunch . Nothing special with pretty reasonable service. Not somewhere to rush back to but fulfilled a need.

We enjoyed a lovely lunch here on Friday. A family get together with three adults and two children. The menu was great: there’s something for everyone and a good selection of meals on the children’s menu too. Service was excellent and the food was really good. Highly recommend the ham salad with new potatoes, and the cheese omelette is something special!! Sadly no room for desert, but the cakes looked great and the Eaton mess sounded divine!! We will definitely be returning. Thank you to all the team.

I took my 2 young children (aged 1 & 3) and my parents out to eat for the first time since the lockdown and we sat in the outside seating area. I phoned ahead to book, so a table was reserved for us with 2 high chairs for my kids. The waitress informed us that everything had been cleaned and disinfected, even the pens we were given to provide our contact details for the track and trace. The food was lovely and excellent value for money. Luxford are also participating in the eat out to help out scheme so everything was 50% off! The children were happy as they were given a pick of crayons each and a colouring in menu! We enjoyed our visit, it was child friendly and we felt very safe and would definitely recommend to others and will be returning.

Place refurbished, but service and prices poor. Sat waiting to order, very few in restaurant and ended up asking for service (supposed to be table service). We ordered and in due time the food came, but the price for a small breakfast was excessive considering what was on the plate - a small rasher of bacon, a small sausage, a small hash brown and a small bowl of beans (didn't want egg, but nothing given in lieu off). Toast belatedly came with insufficient butter. My wife's toasted teacake came with my toast. We had to chase up our cups of tea. A lady on an adjoining table got fed up with waiting and left! Needs some management and staff retraining.

We called in for coffee last week, the coffee was fine but the waitress couldn’t be bothered. There are plenty of coffee shops in Uckfield who are grateful for trade but obviously this girl does not value her job enough to make any effort to be warm and inviting. I will take my business elsewhere in future.

My two year old used the colouring paper and pens provided by the restaurant, She got some pen on the table. The manager came over and made an issue of the pen marks, he then presented me with a jay cloth and told me to clean it up. The pen was very hard to get off. We suggested wipable pens but this suggestion was met with a very rude and hostile response from the staff. That’s three regular customers who won’t be going there again.

I'm sure this restaurant is good for everyone, not just "wrinklies", but they do have a "wrinklies" (i.e. smaller portions) menu. Very good service, good food, good place to go.

We have lunch from time to time at Luxfords in the Civic Centre, Uckfield. We try to get there for an early lunch because it can get quite crowded: it is obviously a popular place for lunch, being right in the centre of town. The service is good and the food is fine, not fancy but good and they are not mean with their servings.

Staff weren't very friendly, at 2.15pm they told me the kitchen wasn't open for food. My goodness, anyone would think they were a café! Perish the thought! I ordered black coffee, gluten-free chocolate cake (because it looked yummy but I was to discover tasted a little odd), with cream. When my order arrived it was without cream and the waitress then told me they didn't do cream. Oh no, no cream! I was puzzled as to why this wasn't mentioned at the time of ordering, but by now I'd realised the staff were more keen to chat to their friends across the bar than actually make an effort with their sole customer. Hmm.. any idea why I was the sole customer?

Luxfords is tucked away from the High street and you would not find it by accident. We went there for lunch with friends, it is necessary to place your order and pay in advance at the counter. The food was OK without being outstanding and the service was desultory. It was rather reminiscent of a works canteen with the same ambience! It wasn't bad or expensive but we are unlikely to use it again. There are other places in Uckfield which are more deserving of our patronage.

Unfortunately, this dinner was a disappointment from start to finish. I would strongly recommend that the restaurant implement a staff training day, as the service was shocking, especially given the price point. For £17.95, I was served an elderflower fizz that was reminiscent of a Wetherspoons cocktail—no garnish, too much sugar syrup, served in a gin bowl with excessive ice and just a straw and stirrer. It took ages to arrive after we had to order at the bar, due to a lack of staff taking orders at the table. The barman who appeared to be working solo was clearly flustered and evidently required either help or supervision, as the drink quality, presentation, and wait time was just not good enough for the price. This was just the start of a series of disappointments. My partner and I were then shown to our table, which was in an empty second room. Whilst this may seem romantic, we found it rather strange, especially considering the other room was nearly full. It seemed like the seating should have been split more evenly. We were greeted by another waitress who seemed pleasant but was unfortunately uninterested and lacked knowledge of the dishes. When we asked for recommendations, she responded with, "I don’t know. It depends on your palate." Typically, I would have expected more enthusiasm and knowledge about the menu, but this was not the case. After selecting our dishes and a bottle of red wine, we waited. The food arrived fairly quickly, but the wine was nowhere to be seen. It’s standard for drinks to be served before the food, so this felt odd. When our starter was cleared, we reminded the waitress about the wine. She looked at us blankly before bringing over the wine list and asking which bottle we had ordered, as she had forgotten. When our main courses arrived, the wine still hadn’t come. Despite having pointed out the Cabernet Sauvignon twice, we were then informed it was out of stock and asked to choose another. I would have expected the waitress to know about the shortage, but we accepted the mistake and asked for two glasses of Pinot Noir, as we were already onto the main course. Having worked in hospitality myself, it is common knowledge that if an issue arises it must be rectified with a matter of urgency. Unfortunately, this wasn’t the case here. It wasn’t until we had finished our main courses that the wine finally arrived—without an apology or explanation. Throughout the meal, we were also not checked up on - another standard practice of hospitality, which made it even more difficult to address the issue of the wine. When the bill came, I asked the manager to remove the wine charges. Whilst he agreed, I would have expected him to be aware of the situation and offer compensation without me having to request it. As for the food, it was fine but nothing memorable. I had the linguine, and my partner had the lamb. Both were enjoyable enough, but given the £30-40 price point for the main courses, the overall experience didn’t meet expectations. We didn’t bother staying for dessert due to our frustration with the service. What was meant to be a special, romantic meal ended up being a major letdown and waste of money.

Always good beer and friendly welcome. As well as Harvey's Best and Old, there is often a seasonal ale on such as George & Dragon, or Easter Ale, etc.

We love this pub, the team are always friendly & welcoming. The food is excellent, I would highly recommend a Sunday Roast which comes with lots of vegetables, excellent gravy & very generous portions. The pub is warm & welcoming with a lovely large garden at the back which is gorgeous in the summer time.
